This Car-X location was fast and convenient. I got a next day appointment for two cars that could be done at the same time. Comfortable waiting area.

Good service and value for oil changes.

Super fast and friendly staff. Clean waiting room. Able to accommodate my 2017 VW Golf for an oil change. It took them about 25 minutes from start to finish. Their price was about 40.00 less than the dealership charges. Im very happy with the service I received and would recommend this Car-X to anyone looking for a quick oil change without any of the upselling of a dealership.

I got a muffler installed here a month ago. I called before hand to see how booked they were but they werent busy and I was able to come in right away. The muffler I bought didnt come with a gasket but they called another of their shops and was able to get one brought over quickly. It only took 1.5 hours from calling them to driving away with the muffler installed. The dude working the lobby was awesome.

I was on my way to my son from another State, noticed car has engine light on, Saturday most of the shops are closed, so finally I found one shop and called for help, Chris answered and told me actually I am behind but I told I need some help right away, so he told me to come, so went there .The guy I dont know his name ( with long beard) very friendly came and checked vehicle and found some issues and called Chris and they were very very honest, if they want to make money they could have told us to do some repair but he reset and said I dont see any issues on the engine, I wont tell you to drive long distance but up to you otherwise go slow. I asked for charge, Chris said no charge, mostly nobody will do free check, we were amazed by their approach, the way they handled the situation and moreover very friendly. I told my son to go there incase if he need any help in the future. Bless their heart.

We were driving through town on a long road trip and our check engine light and check brake lights came on! A bunch of other mechanics were unavailable but these guys saw us right away. They were busy, but quick, and John had a theory about why the lights came on when we had just had the car checked out (literally 2 days ago before going on our trip!) his theory was right, he showed us what happened, and we weren’t even charged. What awesome service!

My fathers truck broke and he was leaving the next day for a weekend trip, I didn’t have time to fix it, with one call to car x they promised to get it in first thing in the morning and have it done for my father to leave that afternoon. They came through as promised and My father had nothing but good things to say about his experience with them

Quick and complete service from a knowledgeable staff. Had two services over the last couple weeks with a oil change and a mechanical fix. Oil change was fast and they were on schedule. Mechanical fix was checked out the day I dropped it off, they called with options that afternoon and had the vehicle ready to go the next day by noon. Quality service, would recommend.

I got a flat tire while passing through Des Moines on a cross country drive and called a number of shops looking for a certain Continental tire. I was a little iffy because of the bad reviews but I gave it a shot and I am completely satisfied with the work that was done on my Nissan Altima they were up front about the cost show me the problem and suggested alternate means of fixing what was wrong they communicated with me every step of the way with no hidden charges I will be using them again and again

The manager on duty was amazing, communicated throughout the whole appointment. They fit me in their busy day and repaired my tire so I could get back to my car which was jacked up on the road. Thank the Lord for Cummins Parkway because having a flat tire in the snow was not fun. There was a spot where I could park my car until the tire was repaired.

My wife took my sons car in for an oil change. When she picked it up they said the struts and shocks are in really bad shape and are just hanging down, it was very dangerous. heres a quote for $1,100. Thanks for the unsolicited inspection. I looked at them, they are fine. The following week my wife went in to get her oil changed and they literally told her the same thing is happening on her car. We just bought the car from a dealership 3 months prior. Now two weeks later my daughter took her car into a different car x in for help changing a headlight. They tried to charge her $170 for a half hours worth of work so now you charge $340 an hour for shop time? Man this place is sad. They just try to take advantage of people and scam them out of their money. I would definitely go look for a second opinion or better yet just avoid it altogether.

I usually have a great experience at Carx. Ive been taking my cars there for years. Theyre typically very timely (as long as they arent swamped) and very courteous; no complaints. The last time I was there I took my car in because it was making a loud noise. They also checked under the hood and found that I needed my battery cleaned.So they fixed the noise issue, protected the battery and rotated my tires. I was in and out in a reasonable amount of time.

I went there today for an estimate for work on my car and was blown away by how friendly and amazing Jake was. He took the time to not only explain things to me, but also to my 5 year old son who probably now thinks that Jake is the coolest human being on the planet! He answered all his questions kindly and patiently and gave him a tire tread checker card so that he can check my tires to let me know when it is time to replace them! All in all a great experience and I will not hesitate to go back again! Thanks Jake! You have a new buddy now! (We might even have to hunt you down at whatever store youre working at)!

Great front desk person very friendly and was quick to let me know that my appointment was going to be a bit behind. It took longer than I expected but when you need your car serviced what are you gonna do? Leave. But it was a great experience overall.

I had leased cars for the last 11 years. I was apprehensive about taking my recently purchased car in for service. I needed an oil change and apparently had a slowly leaking tire. I was greeted very nicely and the gentleman at the desk listened to my concerns and requests. The work was done for the quoted price with a small add on for taking care of the leak issue. I was given positive feedback about my car and everything was explained thoroughly. It is good to know that Car -X values their customers and having to get a car serviced as opposed to lease maintenance work is not as scary as I had feared. Thank you Car-X.

Had a great experience with CarX on Merle Hay! One of their managers, Jake, took very good care of me. He was honest, prompt, courteous, friendly, and most of all, his staff took care of repairing my vehicle!

Absolutely the most dishonest mechanics alive. Said they replaced my alternator. Six months later it died again. Cone to find out they just hooked up some wires and charged me over $600 for a new one! They saw their mistake when they checked their records and did everything for free. But lesson learned. Nit trustworthy at all.

Just a quick shot out to Josh, Bob, Shawn, and the awesome team at the Merle Hay Car X! I really appreciate all the help over the years, but my 99 Honda with 280k was really limping along a few weeks ago. In fact, it died on me several times with apparently no reason. But the mechanics at Car X are like doctors: they were able to diagnose the tricky issue and fixed it in a prompt, economic manner. T minus 12 minutes to closing time and I rolled in on a donut, frantic to get my tire repaired or replaced. The manager, Josh Wolfe, asked if Id be willing to leave the tire overnight. I agreed, but I had to be in Omaha by early the next afternoon, so I was worried. So he looked at the tire. Turns out it was a nail. One of his guys pulled the nail and plugged the hole, *and* swapped out the donut for the tire! I was out the door only a couple of minutes after closing time, and I am *so* happy. I really appreciate the extra help I got at this Car-X location.

Very nice staff. But putting the wrong oil in my car the first time then fixing not sure if I can trust them for future service. My hood latch is harder to open then It was before. Staff was very apologetic about the oil.

Great customer service, quick repair.2019 update: whole truck was vibrating at high speeds. Made appt first thing next morning, was just ice build up and they removed it for free! I tell everyone I know to go here already and this kind of service is why.

I can only repeat what everyone else here has said. Car-X on Merle Hay is awesome. Josh and all the guys are a great team, theyre very nice, they do great work, they are prompt about getting it done and perfectionists about getting it done right. I had a lot of work done and it was tricky, with computer codes that were fairly obscure and hard to diagnose. They just kept plugging away at it until they got it right, and they didnt keep charging me over and over for every little thing each time I stopped in with a problem. Josh is a very good businessman and hooked me up with a great financing deal with the Synchrony Car Care card, so I wouldnt have to pay the whole large bill all at once. Very friendly and helpful customer service, will definitely keep my car care busines here!!

They got me in right away and did the work quickly

Went there today after receiving a free oil change card in the mail after a questionable service last time. Made an appointment and dropped my vehicle off to ensure it would be done with plenty of time before I had to leave for work. I returned about 90 minutes later to find they had not even started my oil change. I spoke with Josh and he said he would make it next in line (90+ minutes after my scheduled time) so I could get to work on time. Once the vehicle was done I presented my free oil change card just to find out it only covered a portion of the oil change instead of the whole thing so I ended up covering the rest myself. Josh seemed to be very helpful with all of my issues but I cant get over the multiple shortcomings of this company.

Been here twice, its been great service and work well done on my car both times. More recently, Bob helped me, he was very nice, gave me a coupon for $10 off and I was out of there within 20 min. Thanks guys!

I was in Des Moines for an event and my “oil pressure stop engine” light came on. I brought it into Car-Ex. Dave was awesome! He knew I was in a hurry and stuck btwn a rock and a hard spot. He checked out my vehicle and I was on my way fairly quickly. Dave took the time explain things and didn’t make me feel stupid for not noticing some of what was causing the problem I had. I thought the service was good. Got an oil change and tire rotation. Then I come to find out that they had stolen my ipod and all my change out of my vehicle. After reviewing video footage, they decided that there was not enough evidence to prove it. My car was locked before I left it, so it was definitely a low blow to think someone would do this. If you go here, make sure you take your valuables. It was a very hard pill to swallow.

This location worked on my brothers vehicle and was supposed to perform an oil change along with other work....2-3 weeks later his car was staling and he had a diagnosis done on his car and there was NO OIL!!!!+ This could have costed him THOUSANDS of dollars!!!! Make sure you check your OIL before you leave this business!!!

Josh, the service manager, was pleasant, communicated well, and even had the technician change his day off to finish our vehicle.

On 2 different occasions I came here with serious electrical problems in my car. Both times they looked over everything and it was a pretty easy fix. They took the time to fix it and didnt charge me anything. One of those times I was there gettimg an issue fixed that Sears had messed up and they took great care of me. They go above and beyond, very open and honest and care about each customer. Never been to a better auto shop. I will continue to go here for every issue that I need fixed.

So I went to get my breaks done at SE 14TH. Front breaks and roaters, $1,200+ they dude wanted. I was like why so much. He stated service charge. I was like no thank you. Went to jiffy lube and I was chatting with the guy. He stated they do breaks and roaters now. 2 new raoters, 2 new break pads balance. $405. That guy still works at car x over on se 14th. Not all of them are fraud. But SE is a fraud.
