The staff is great, the restrooms are always clean. It can be hard to get a good work out as it is mostly busy after 5:30. Pm. The pool is fun and great for kids. They have private change rooms which is a plus. The only downside is the weight room side is not that huge and lacks space.

Ive always loved this rec and the staff. It has probably the best atmosphere in Denver and its beautiful. They accommodate for all walks of life, holding classes and events for not only our older patrons but the younger high school kids as well, who are a blast. Really nice facility, very clean, but parking can be a pain especially in peak afternoon hours. Theres been a few times I had to turn around and leave because there was no parking. I hear a lot of high school kids use it and theres also a dog park right next to it and people park in the gym lot. Theres also not that many treadmills. The pool and locker rooms are very nice. Wish theyd do something about parking - thinking of cancelling membership and going to my work gym instead because of this.

Facilities and staff are very nice, the only problem being the crowds - what can ya do... location location location. My only complaint (that could be alleviated with a bit of signage and help from the staff) is that during very busy times lots of gym rats think they can park themselves on a piece of equipment for 10 minutes for a few short sets while on their phone for most of the time. Common courtesy dictates that you if you are not actually using the equipment you back off and let others work in with you.

Wonderful new Recreation Center for Denver Parks and Recreation. We worked out on the fourth day after it opened. Plenty of people using the center too, nice to see.Decent private parking lot, so thats good. Patrons can use the high school parking lots too, but check on those hours first.Front desk is inside the front entrance, but rather large, so you should not have to wait long if you are buying a pass, need to check on a class schedule (which are on line). Friendly staff too.Large 8 Lane lap pool. Fun separate lazy river pool as well. Not sure if there is a smaller hot therapy pool. I will have to check on that. I do hope they put one in.Locker rooms are in the basement, but it doesnt feel like a basement. Follow the yellow wall for the womens locker room, and the blue wall for the mens locker room. There is an area for family locker rooms too.Large gym with two (can be separated) full size gyms. Large separate area for weights and fitness machines.Clean, bright interior. Lots of windows. Many views out to Colfax, or the downtown area. I like the look of the facility too, modern, clean lines.Great facility, and very close to home. Lets go for a walk, work out, and then grab a bite to eat. See you there!

It’s a great gym and the type of people who come here are just like me- just trying to be better :) not intimidating. Although I wish the gym managers would stop standing on the side watching people workout. And it’s almost always a man doing it which makes me feel uncomfortable. Extremely busy before 8 and on weekend mornings. Get there at open to secure a cardio machine.

Pros: Brand new, high quality facility with super affordable prices. Amazing lap pool (better than a lot of expensive gyms in the area) and fun kid swimming area. Olympic bars and bumper plates, tower with TRX systems, foam rollers, and good quality machines in gym area. Kid drop-off area is great as well, with attentive supervisors and new toys. Have yet to try the yoga but have heard the top floor room is amazing with downtown views. Locker rooms are clean and spacious, and have code lock systems on the lockers.Cons: It’s already super busy, and I don’t think it’s quite big enough to handle all the people. I tried working out around 4:30 on a weekday, and it was as if the whole facility had turned into the halls of the high school next door. Avoid weekdays between the hours of 3-6pm if possible (lap pool is closed then too, for high school swim practice). The kids pool area is not warm. It’s not necessarily cold, but it’s not warm. Front desk is chaotic, but I’m sure this will sort out after some time.Overall, it’s a very nice place, and I will continue to go often. I know it’s not possible, but it would be perfect if it was twice as big.

New, spacious facility with friendly staff. I joined for the pool to train for a Triathlon. I heard feedback from people at my original gym that it wasn’t that great. I totally disagree. They have 8 lap lanes at the pool. Make sure to check the schedule as sometimes they pair it back to 2. I took a spin class first thing on a Saturday morning and they opened garage doors allowing fresh air into the space with a view of the mountains to boot. Solid spin class FYI. The weight room sits adjacent to the basketball court making it easy to throw the ball around ... I wouldn’t typically find time to play, but I was able to play a pick up game for the first time in 10 years without too much additional effort. All the weights / equipment you need .. it’s super clean too. This is probably the best part of the place, that and the price. Ditch your expensive private gym and check this place out.

Really convenient location for me. They have all the basics you need in the weight room but for a such a large building I feel like they really skimped on the weights. They should definitely add more hammerstrength plate loaded machines...I wish they had a punching bag. Also the largest dumbells they have are only 90lbs.Not really designed with the serious lifter in mind but if you just need the basics this could be a good fit for you, if you live close by.

Very small in my opinion. No hot tub, one Olympic sized pool, cool environment for kids 18 and under was very packed but didn’t seem like there was enough to do. If I had kids 💯 would be there as much as I could but not for an over active adult 😉 there still is a smaller dog park 🐾🐾🐾 next to the red center. Parking lot is small so finding parking could be a challenge, would recommend parking in the neighborhood and walking in. It is a safe neighborhood being next to the school. 🤙🏼

Hey Denver, thanks. This place is great. I love the open floor plan. I can row without staring at a wall! I can watch kids or adults play basketball, while I try to keep my mind off the fact that Im using a rowing machine! I can ride a spin cycle bike while looking out onto Colfax! I can do a yoga class and look out over downtown Denver and the mountains! I just started weight lifting which can be intimidating, I have never sensed any feeling except a welcoming attitude. Ive asked staff and other gym users (had to tap their shoulders because everyone is using headphones) for advice, guidance, etc and Ive always been graciously assisted. Everyone Ive talked to here has been friendly and helpful (staff and other gym users equally). This gym feels like a community, which is why I love using Denver P&R. I need to start taking advantage of your classes and fun events- but, Im so pleased to show up, do my thing, and have a pleasant experience.

Dont want to listen to the trainers dance music in the kettle ball area? Tough luck. I do like this gym, it’s clean and the staff is friendly. I have to workout during the day because I work nights and I would have to say though that parking is not very good with students from the high school next door taking up spots and those using the dog park out back use the lot too. I usually have to wait 15 minutes for a bike machine or the stair master (even when it’s slow) because there are not nearly enough. The space is taken up by mostly treadmills and ellipticals, with only 2-3 cycle machines each that people will spend 30 minutes on. With it being a large, central gym for Denver there needs to be at least one or two more bikes.

I love this place. They have swimming lessons for my twin toddlers, the pool area in the place reminds me of the Apex center. It has enough to do that my kids stay entertained at just the pool alone, for more than 2 hours with the slide. I also love the fact that they have child watch. That is usually my mind thing, not having someone to watch my children. The classes are all at different times so I can be sure to catch one favorite class. They also close pretty late which helps for days I dont get off until 5 but can still catch a class. The gym itself is huge and so is the basketball court. Location is good and amenities are fresh. It is very crowded during peak hours, but the biggest downfall is the noise. The architect erred in putting the basketball court, which has tremendous acoustics, immediately next to the workout space. If anyone gets too excited on the court, and it only takes one, all other visitors will suffer as the noise often exceeds 80dB, which is the limit for safe noise exposure. With the incredible amount of screaming that takes place on the popular indoor court, Im surprised the City Council approved such a design. Noise-dulling finishing on the walls would go a long way in ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of the membership.

It’s great to have a rec center in central Denver. It’s already incredibly popular and the pool is great. I’d definitely recommend if you’re a swimmer. There aren’t any special features (e.g sauna or steam room), but the location can’t be beat.

A great rec center with clean, updated equipment. Good quantity of cardio machines and a decent amount of weight and strength machines. The space can get a bit crowded if you go at the wrong time, but overall there’s a good amount of space. A large area for basketball and volleyball. A lot of fitness classes including cycling and yoga available seven days a week.Would like to see more open time in the yoga room as it’s not ideal to do yoga on the basketball courts. I think the city may also have underestimated how popular the yoga classes would be, and already some of the classes can be overwhelmingly crowded, but again that’s only if you go at the busiest times. Also excited to see the rock wall open!

I show up to exercise between 5:30-6:00 am to beat the crowd and I’m still standing around/sitting around waiting to be able to use a machine or find an empty lane to swim laps in. It’s mid-February so I’m losing hope that the “New Years Resolution Crowd” will die down. The facility is great and super convenient in proximity to my residence but I’m getting tired of being charged $30/month to stand around and wait for a machine or even an open lane to swim laps in. I wouldnt even try the lot unless youre feeling really lucky because its tiny and infuriating. For myself, I’d give the Rec Center five stars; the one star review is for my kids.I have 13 year old twins that wish the Rec Center was more accommodating to them. All they ask is for the ability to do something other than the pool (they’d especially love easy access to the basketball courts). But usually they’re denied access to the courts.Yes, I understand that there’s high demand for the facility by adults and especially adults in fitness classes. Nonetheless; they’re Denver residents too, and it’s dissappointing that they have such a hard time using the Rec Center.😕

Signs for the parking lot, that the dog park folks CANT park in Rec Center small parking lot. FYI the parklot is small, plan to wait for a open spot during busy times cause of course the designers didnt plan that out. They didnt plan for nowhere to stretch in the building as well so stretch at home before or after your work out unless youre okay with someone almost dropping weights on you or stepping over you constantly. Guess its rocking science to put the shades down when the suns highest so the bike area riders dont have to be blinded by it. Having to beg them to put the shades down and of course they take their sweet time is getting old. Im not going to go on cuz itll be too much...lets just say no one thought about the flow of things and they didnt hire anybody that could either. It doesnt take a degree to make things make sense. This is a good facility, and the location is extremely convenient - thats mostly why I go; I dont have to drive there, but its also extremely busy, and the gym area is small. There isnt much that can be done about it, but coming from other gyms, its frustrating having to wait for equipment or schedule my day around going at a less busy time. Even the cardio machines are all completely taken on certain days, and Ive had to just give up before and leave. Ive never really seen anything like that at any other gym, but along with convenience for so many people in the middle of the city comes heavy use. Extended hours might help. Quite frankly, I feel like too much of the space is taken up by the water world downstairs. Someone else commented that its basically a daycare/rec center, and thats pretty accurate.

Also attempted sign up for 45 min cycling class and was cautioned to be there 30minutes ahead to have a “chance” to make it into the class. Working people do not have an extra half hour to spend if trying to get to a class and get a workout done in a lunch hour.
