First of all, If you think you are doing business with All-star when you call their number you are not. They are now Perfect Home services which get you to sign up with their maintenance plan for $15 per month. When I signed up I was never told that I was not doing business with all -star. Perfect home services came to my home to do an air conditioning maintenance check at which time I was told that my Dual Capacitor was going bad and that since (according to them)my compressor was also failing I might consider getting a new system and they would be happy to give me some quotes….this didn’t sound right to me and it felt like a sales pitch. Since I didn’t know this company I decided to get a second opinion by a reputable long time business in the area. Turned out that after testing it, my dual capacitor is functioning fine and While my air conditioning unit is older, it works just fine as well. This company offers you a sweet maintenance plan and then makes their money by coming to your home for maintenance checks and then convincing you that you need new parts Or systems when you don’t….. Beware!
We would rate them 0 if we could. First, this is not all star we have used before, the ownership has changed and when we call, no one has informed us that. Second, they came to repair the ac and said is Freon leaking, they cant find the leaks so they put the dye in and fix the place they think may leak, charged us $670. We agreed cause this is ALL-STAR. Three days later, AC broke again, second technician came and said no dye has filled and to fix it we need to pay over $1k. We did ask if this is warranty will cover and they said NO. Turns out warranty covered the whole cost and leaks are pretty big. We complained and no one has ever return our call. We would not recommend this company to anyone who need service. Not responsible at all!
Overall, this place is pretty responsive, and they were able to get a technician here very quickly. I had done service with them last year to fix a broken part. This time, I had to call them out twice in order to properly identify the issue though. A part broke the day after they came the first time (and after I was first charged for cleaning which I didnt ask for and wasnt the issue). I was given an estimate to fix the part, and it was wildly expensive. The technician also said my heat exchanger could break soon based on CO readings (1 ppm...), but that was not true because those are somewhat normal readings and I have a CO detector in my home. The heat exchanger is under warranty for 20 years, and he didnt mention that. So he just suggested to get a whole new furnace, which I dont need at this point. I contacted another place for another opinion, and they got the part and are able to fix it for less than half the price. Make sure you do your research, sometimes second opinions are worth it. I didnt want to give too harsh of a review rating, because this stuff is fairly common anywhere you go. Id say if you just want something done quickly, its okay to go hereEDIT: I received a call from the business after they had seen my review and they were able to resolve the issue for me. It must have been a misunderstanding. Overall, this company seems like they care about their customers. I do recommend them, and I really appreciate their great customer service.
Our AC went out during the recent heat wave, and when I called All Star, Jason made time to come over within a couple of hours of my call. He did an inspection and we discussed options, then he prepared a quote that included the options and their respective price points. It was a very transparent and straightforward process. We decided to have the furnace and AC replaced, as they were both ancient. The installation was scheduled for the following week, and all was good, except that it was very hot in our house! The next day, Jason contacted me and offered us a loaner window AC unit. He delivered and installed it, and Im here to tell you, it was a life saver!When it came time for the installation, Justin and Travis arrived on schedule and did a great job. They were both knowledgeable, polite, considerate and respectful, and they worked very efficiently.I highly recommend All StarHeating & Air Conditioning!
Matt, Jason, and Justin and all the staff involved were outstanding. Matt came same day I called, a Friday, with an issue and did a temporary fix. Emails with photos and information on who was coming to my home were great. Justin came Monday for a full estimate and to make sure all was working as Matt had left it and by Friday Justin and crew had our new systems installed and up and running. Great customer service, no hidden costs, quality company. Highly recommend.
Having used All Star for servicing our furnace and air unit, our air unit finally gave up after 27 years 😁We asked All Star to fit a new air unit etc.The fitters where the most wonderful young men, professional, and knew exactly what they were doing at all times.It was a very hot day 90+, but they didnt falter they pushed on and got the job done.I would recommend All Star over and above any other other company.They are the best.

I just got my new ac unit installed today 04/13/2020. I had Justin and Matt as my technicians. They did a fantastic job, I wish I could give them more then 5 stars thats how happy I am with the work. Not only were they nice and had good sense of humors, they were also very communicative about what they were doing and why they were doing it. They worked very hard, did not take a break until the job was done and got everything done in a timely fashion. The owner (Jason) came out to do are bid and had a quote ready in the same visit, where I had to wait 3 or more days with other companies. He was very kind,funny, and was a giant help in explaining everything that needed to be done. Hes a great owner, he puts alot of care into what he does, and the employees said he was the best boss they ever had, I believe it. The price was very fair for everything I had done, there was one company that was a bit cheaper, but the owner of that company was in and out and didnt even do a run down on what needed to be done, did not act professional at all. If you need your heat or air conditioner fixed or replaced, go with all star!

I didn’t have to post a 2nd review a year later but felt it necessary to inform the world of a job well done. In my opinion, this review carries more weight as I’ve had a year to experience any difficulties with the new unit or All-star’s service. To which, I can attest to none!At the time of the install, I didn’t know any HVAC contractors as I was settling into my new home in Sycamore. My home is about 2800 square feet on over an acre of land and the other contractors must have seen dollar signs as they approached as their bids were bloated and insulting.Jason the owner on the other hand came in at a great price after doing a terrific analysis of my cooling needs. With so many contractors, it’s not so much what they tell you but what they don’t tell you. Jason was the polar opposite of that contractor we all dread.In conclusion, my new unit runs great and I have the highest confidence All-star will stand behind their work moving forward. My electric bills are less and my house is as cool as I want it in any weather condition!

My furnace was malfunctioning and would drop to 66 degrees over night. When I called them I got great customer service. Someone who really stood out was Matt. He was very professional and explained what he was doing and what was going on. I appreciate the quality service I received and would definitely recommend Matt!
It was recommended to me by another heating & air company that I should replace my 11 to 12 year old furnace because there is rust on the heat exchanger. I wanted a second opinion and when I contacted All-Star Heating & Air, they came out right away, looked the furnace and said that I absolutely do not need to replace the furnace right now. Jason, the new owner of the company, said that there is rust on all furnaces of this age. I appreciated his honesty and will be using them for all of my heating and air needs going forward.

I have had both heating and cooling work done by All-Star ranging from small winter furnace maintenance to the installation of a new air conditioner. The owner runs service calls himself and is extremely friendly, knowledgeable, but is never in too big of a hurry to explain equipment malfunctions to customers. Prices are competitive and fair. Often a same day service experience and communicates very well with customers even on route. I highly recommend the company.

We had All-Star install a new furnace and AC. Not only did they do an absolutely fantastically stellar job, they managed to successfully resolve the airflow issues we had in the house. They far exceeded my expectations, stood by their work in correcting a minor problem I had and fixed it at no cost.The purchase of a new furnace began with a routine annual inspection where they discovered a cracked heat exchanger. They were extremely thorough in their inspection and their diligence paid off (i.e. we didnt have a broken furnace in the middle of Jan). They were extremely knowledgeable and identified a number of issues with the way the old system was installed and were able to explain and demonstrate how that caused many of the climate control issues we had suffered with over the years.They put together a detailed quote for me prior to the purchase of our new system, providing me with 4 options for new systems and laid out financing options for us. The whole process was so much easier than I could have imagined and they ended up leaving the house much cleaner than when they arrived. I could not be happier with the way things turned out.
Purchased furnace and A/C for two apartments and I’m a happy customer.
I had no heat in my house. The owner Greg offered to come out to my house that day, but I couldn’t make it. He came out the next day. After he tried multiple things I started getting nervous as I thought the bill was just growing larger. Turns out that wasn’t the case. He found a mouse nest or something in my furnace exhaust vent. He vacuumed it out and was gone in less than an hour. The best part is that it was less than $100! I will recommend him to anyone who asks.

They did a great job. Id been looking for a an a/c guy for 2 years. All the locals refused to service me because they had not done the install. But All-Star did, so now theyll service us 2 times a year with the service contract we have with them. They explained everything to us. Great guys too.

What an amazing company! Greg came out within an hour of call. The igniter on our furnace went out and he could have charged double what he did (based on the average repair price). He repaired the issue in 20 minutes, showed me the broken part, and charged a very reasonable price. We are very thankful for honest QUALITY work like All-Star!

I found All Star heating by reading these reviews on Google, and boy I am glad I did! I never needed furnace repair, so I was a little apprehensive, but now I know I will only use All Star for as long as I live in the area!Greg came out to fix my furnace at night and charged me a standard rate, NOT time in a half or double. He was extremely knowledgeable and completely able to answer ALL my questions. (I asked him a lot of questions.) He took time and walked me through everything about my furnace that I should know, showed me how he tested the different areas to check for current. He easily was able to figure out that I hooked up the thermostat wrong, and showed me the right way to do it. We are warm and cozy now!I would highly recommend All Star to anyone who can appreciate great quality work and a fair price.

My air conditioner was diagnosis junk and All-Star HAC came out and explained all my options and delivered in a huge way.The process sounds cut and dry but it was much more dynamic than that. Jason explained my options regarding unit size, current infrastructure limitations and load calculations. Jason sold me before he even spoke simply because he had a tape measure and an inquisitive look on his face as he analyzed my home.He was the ONLY contractor who did a load calculation on my home by measuring window surface area, asking our liked thermostat position, acquiring square footage of our home, asking about insulation type and quantity etc.After completing this process, he offered several options for unit size to achieve our desired cooling, budget and install time. The unit was installed the next day without a single hiccup. He is one hell of a cool cat, that is for sure. Call him and forgive the bad pun.
I dont typically take the time to write a review. Service is an expectation when paying for a service. However, I will make the time when that service is either over-and-above or severely lacking. KUDOS to All-Star Heating! Furnace went out in the middle of the night. I called All-Star because of the Google reviews I read. Everyone of them are spot on! I asked for them to call me on my cell phone on their way... so I could leave work and meet them here, which they did. Service was same day and Greg (owner) was extremely professional and courteous. Explained my problem... and I do know a little about furnaces so I was very comfortable knowing he was telling me the truth and not trying to oversell me on something I may not have needed. Job was completed quickly and cost was very reasonable. The All-Star magnet is now on my furnace for any future repair! -Ken R
I called All Star on the recommendation of a friend who does appliance repairs the area. I could not be Happier! Greg came out the next day and was very professional and courteous. I had no clue what was wrong with my central air unit, and he could have easily ripped me off. He explained that the unit was fine, it just needed a new electrical panel. He came back the next day and put the new panel in and also looked at a blower issue...again, he could have easily ripped me off...he explained that a switch was stuck down, and fixed that very easily. A+++, 10, and even two thumbs up are all descriptive of my experience with All Star Heating and Air. With temperatures below 00 waking up to a chilly home is bad enough, but to find your furnace will not stay lit after a few tries certifies your day has gone from bad to worst. I called All Stars Heating and Air and a technician was at my home within the hour. The technician was very knowledgeable and educational providing me with simple tips to ensure the furnace continues to function properly. While talking I find out, I did not just have a technician but in fact the President of the Company (which explained the vast knowledge base).Kudos Mr. Freeman leading by example has been overlooked in many fields these days but I am glad it’s not a lost art in your organization.
The 5 star rating was earned by the previous owner Gregg. These folks have not yet figured out how to deal with “country folks” and pricing is a bit high I think. Over time perhaps they will earn it but, as of now, there’s room for improvement.
We just had a service call from All Star Heating & Air Conditioning and I can recommend them without reservation! We called on a Sunday evening and Greg, the technician, was at our house very quickly. He took the time to explain exactly what was wrong with our furnace and had the part available on the truck to fix the problem quickly and at a price that was much cheaper than we would have expected. He was very friendly and took great care to do the job in a clean and efficient manner. We will call them for any of our future heating and cooling service needs.

I had my furnace go out in the middle of the night on one of the coldest, if not THE coldest, nights of the year. I called All-Star at 2:45 am and the owner of the company showed up 30 minutes later to fix my furnace. The house was warm again by 5 am. My wife and kids had no idea any of this even happened by the time they woke up. Fast, quiet, and affordable.Thanks again to Greg for a great experience. This is the second time I have had All Star out to the house. First, they came out in the winter and worked well into the evening to get our heat back up and running. Second, was recently to get the A.C. going for the summer. He was quick, knowledgeable, and more than reasonable when it comes to cost. He even came out at 10:00 p.m. to get it done!!!! I will absolutely recommend All Star for anything HVAC related.
First off, Thanks for the help. But not nice being billed twice the cost of the part. It is okay if its 1990s where there is no internet. I would not mind raising his labor cost than lying the true cost of the parts. Use them at your own risk.
Pros: very nice and seems to know what hes doingCons: apparently they - and the whole area - are understaffed.We first made an appointment for Thursday. No one showed up. Since they have such good reviews, I decided to reschedule. The new appointment was for the following Tuesday. After waiting fifteen minutes, I called to see if they were lost or something. Greg, the owner, said youre right, I missed the appointment again. He kind of chuckled and offered to come in the evening when he was done. I said sure, one more chance. He came and looked at the thermostat and while he identified the problem, he couldnt fix it (which was not his fault; the thermostat itself was faulty). Luckily the thermostat company sent a new one over (Nest has EXCELLENT customer service). When he was putting everything back together, he did something wrong so that my heat wouldnt turn off. I was able to solve the problem myself after some googling, which is good because when I called him about it he wanted to make another appointment.To be fair, he did not charge for this appointment so that was very nice of him.
Greg from All Star has helped me out several times. First time was a power issue with my Nest thermostat, he stayed for over an hour working through it with Nest to solve the issue. More recently he helped fix the power to my furnace. Hes incredibly helpful and patient, and takes the time to also teach you if you are willing to learn. Would recommend All Star to anyone.
After not having such a good experience with another local HVAC company and wasting $175 we decided to contact Allstar and we are so happy we did. They came out and ended up having to install a new furnace. They were quick, professional, and gave us a great deal on pricing! We are so thankful for them and will always contact them in the future!
Im always skeptical about a company with super positive rating. But, i now understand why they have such positive ratings. Theyre super quick and professional. I had birds building a mansion birds nest in my dryer vent after the storm blew away the vent cover. Greg the owner came out the same day and said his guy would be out the next afternoon to fix my issue. He call early the next morning saying we can be there earlier than anticipated, came in and fix my issue in minutes. The service was great, the guys were professional, and i took business cards for my neighbors. My go to company from now on!
Called All-Star today at 1:45 because furnace LED code was giving me 4 red blinks :- ( (which is code for you ARE going to freeze to death because I am too angry to heat up today.... this is the furnace talking). Greg was able to come work on my furnace around 4:30 today. It took him about 2 minutes to fix my furnace. This guy knows what he is doing. Very impressed with how quickly he was able to fit me in his busy schedule (it is December and everyone has an angry furnace this time of year) and very impressed with his explanations on what happened with my furnace. I would highly recommend All-Star and would use them again!
I had some major heating work completed by the previous owner. The work had been done improperly. Jason and his crew came in and figured out the problem. He bent over backwards to fix the problem and make it right. I plan on using All Star for all my HVAC needs in the future.
These guys are my #1 call. Today, I had an issue with my A/C unit. The unit did not start. It seemed like power was not making a connection to my Air Conditioner outside. I thought the issue might have been the starter capacitor. So I called All-Star. Upon arrival ((within 15 minutes of my call...FAST!)), All-Star tested the capacitor on the A/C unit and found it was correctly working. The problem had to do with an internal reset of my fancy schmansy thermostat. Problem solved! A lessor HVAC company could have charged me an arm and a leg and swapped out a perfectly good capacitor. All Star is honest and did not charge me thing! I have used All-star in the past for furnace related issues, and they are always prompt, fast, and charge a reasonable rate. Its great to know in this time of putting profit before integrity, there are honest local companies like All-Star. Rest assured, when it comes time for a new Furnace or A/C in the future, All-Star will be at the top of my call list!
I called Greg of All-Star Heating at about 9 P.M. on a Saturday evening when our heater was malfunctioning. The temperature in our house had dropped to 59 degrees on an evening when the temperature was -20. Greg said he would be out in ten minutes and true to his word he arrived ten minutes later and immediately set to work initiating repairs. Within minutes our heater was operating as it should. My family is grateful for the prompt, professional, and reasonably priced service Greg and All-Star Heating and AC provided. We are now loyal customers and will be utilizing All-Star Heating and AC to conduct preventative maintenance on our heating and air conditioning units. Called a couple different 24hr heating companies at 10:00pm on a Saturday with no heat, Greg was the only one that answered. We set up an appointment for 8:00am the next day and he was there by 7:45. We came home to a quickly warming house and unresponsive central air one evening during those high heat/humidity periods this year. This making for unhappy wife and kids.I called All Star that evening and Greg made an early morning visit. They have been extremely busy this year due to the weather conditions. He was able to troubleshoot the issues and get the AC running again. He also checked out the rest of the AC system and corrected the refrigerant that was overcharged during installation. I was super pleased with the pricing for such a short notice appointment.Additionally he was very open to explaining as he went along and being patient with my curiosity. That right there gains the 5th star and my confidence to call on them again. In fact I need to call them and schedule my furnace tune-up soon.......
Called to have a part put on my furnace .Was told he would get part Monday . Never heard another word from him . I would say poor service at best . I think they just want the big money jobs......
AC & Furnace cleaned and prepped for future service at a very, very reasonable price. Fantastic customer service. Picks up the phone, provides reasonable time estimates, etc. If you live in Dekalb County IL and need HVAC service, look no further than ALL Star. Going anywhere else simply is not an option !
We had some AC issues that involved leaking water and a house that wasnt cooling and the guys from All-Star (the owner Greg and his brother Len) were terrific and worked on the problem until it was fixed. They are very knowledgeable, customer service-oriented, and quite professional. Their experience is evident as they talk you through the issue. I give them my highest recommendation!

We just moved to Dekalb and had our old furnace go out. We cleaned and relit the pilot but the burner still wasnt firing. All-Star came out quickly on a freezing Sunday - turned out to be a simple fix and they didnt even charge us. The owner, Greg, gave us lots of helpful information about our system. We will definitely be calling All-Star again for any and all HVAC needs.
Horrible service, 2 guys came in and took long checking the furnace, he came upstairs with an old filter that we had from the previous year, we left it there is our choice he said he will throw it out that it was trash anyway, but when I went outside to tell him he has no right to take stuff from our home he only came to check the system not to decide if I have trash on my basement he had the filter on his van, I said give me back that even if is trash is a reason why I still have it, I felt violated, its not his job to take things out of our basement, then he went outside to check the air conditioning it didnt opened it to check or anything he said we needed a new air condition, he said he was going to take off the power where the aircondition turns on or off I said no dont touch anything after seen how he took something from the basement I didnt feel right about this guy, lost all trust, the air condition was turning on but now it dont turn on, I know that guy didnt do a thing and I can prove it, today I decided to look at the furnice and the humidifier was filty a lot fell on the floor, and the humidifier was off, we never touch this thing we know the last owners would have left it on summer because is when we move in and it was completely off, I set it up to 35 if this guy has seen that he will have mentioned it but not a word, also he set their sticker on our furnice covering the number of the ones who originally set up the furnice, now trying to remove the sticker damaged completely the information for the people who we need to call, I am very angry at this point I dont know what this man did to our air condition, but it is completely wrong that was an invasive visit not to serve the customer all for greed and he have the guts to say is $80 for doing absolutely nothing. Shame on this company. Very angry he did something to our air condition, it was working the only thing not cold air, now dont even turn on maybe only needed more frion but how he is going to know if he didnt opened it or anything as they should do?, BEWARE of this company.
Under new ownership and really know their stuff. Gave us multiple options on a new furnace and informed us about each one. Very fair pricing and incredibly nice.
The furnace was not working correctly and we didnt know what the problem was. Greg came out for a service call, was able to diagnose the problem and repair it easily. Great service and very reasonable cost! I highly recommend!

I have used All Star on 4 separate occasions and each time have been impressed. Every time they were out as soon as they could, typically within 15 to 30 min of calling (were in the area, between jobs). The first 3 issues were with my air conditioning unit (leaking coolant from a bad install from the previous owners) and the last one was with the heater (today). Greg, the owner, was out the majority of the time, and always showed me something I didnt think of doing, to help maintain the units. I have an older system and when it is time to replace, I wont hesitate to call him. BTW, each time, they have left me with a working unit and recommendations on replacing the AC unit (for very apparent reasons...coolant is expensive, and the soldering job done by some other repair company ruined the chance of fixing it for good.) If you have a boiler, THIS is your company!! Look NO FURTHER! We went through 4 other companies until Greg came in, took one look, and fixed our problem! Knowledgeable and very reasonable. Also, Space Pak experts...high recommend!

Greg came out and looked at my furnace. He came upstairs and looked at my thermostat. We were having a problem with the blower not turning off. He diagnosed the problem as a switch flipped in the wrong place and a bad jumper and fixed both problems. He knows what to do with air conditioners and furnaces and he always answers the phone. Nice work Greg and thank you.
I just had Greg (owner of AllStar) out to fix my furnace. Previously I had been using ServiceNow(Cortland) for my HVAC and plumbing needs. Never again will I call Service Now. They are outrageously overpriced.Greg is the only man I will call for any HVAC needs. I called in the late morning and was told he would be out to my home around 3pm. I got a call around 1pm and he was able to come to come early. He arrived in 10 minutes! Our heater was not working consistently. He took his time and checked several things. He left telling me he was still not 100% sure it was fixed. Told me to call back that his work is guaranteed if any other problems arose. Not only was he a great technician, but he was also very sociable. I was only charged $85 for the service call. Service Now would have charged me $99 for the service call + probably $99 more just to clean some sensors. I called All-star because there were so many 5star ratings over several years. I am very glad I did. I will gladly recommend Greg to anyone with HVAC needs.I wish I had a professional like him for all my home maintenance needs..electric, plumbing, appliance repair!! They came out to give us a quote. Once they assessed the situation they recommended the best solution. They even suggested that the solution may not be necessary. Honest operation.
Greg came out on New Years day when my boiler wasnt keeping up with the below zero weather. He wasnt even my furnace guy, but he recommended Allstar when he didnt know what to do next! Greg was here fast &solved the problem quickly! Hes my boiler guy now!
All star really saved us tonight!Last year we had a piece of our furnace break, a company that I thought was trust worthy came out and fixed it. Today we had to call the fire department and 911 as my home was filled with leaking gas. Nicor had to come out and shut it off.I called all-star because my co worker referred them, greg came out to do a free estimate. He quickly took care of the problem and explained it to us. Not only that but out of the goodness of his heart he didnt charge us, and you dont find much kindness like that these days. He even kindly helped us with our smoke/co2 detector.We will be calling them for any problems!!!

Our air went out on a Tuesday late afternoon. The owner was out first thing Wednesday. He explained that the the system was old and would cost almost as much to try and fix it than just replacing it. He gave us two different options, with a good price spread between the two. We let him know that day which one we wanted, and he apologized because they could not do the install that day. He did said a very nice technician out first thing Thursday morning. He worked quickly to install it. Once it was in, the owner stopped by to make sure all was ok. We spoke with another friend that does HVAC work, and even he told us we got a great price. I will never use another company!

All Star and Greg the owner is the best business man around.We originally called One hour hvac which is now called Service Now and they were useless and incompetent.They came out twice for the same problem and I even had a video of what the unit was doing.They replaced the contacter switch and when I questioned that I didnt think that was the problem they said they werent sure but was worth a try.We paid $99 for the first service call and then Chris the owner wanted another 249 for a 5 minute install.They said if I signed up for the club membership at $120 per year it would be cheaper.I refused and told them I would pay $50 for the install and to take a walk.Fast forward a couple days and the A/C was still not fixed.I called Greg at All Star and asked if he could come out and texted him the same video I showed the last bums.He came out and within 20 minutes had the issue resolved and told me there was no charge because he was a few minutes late.I told him that wasnt a problem and that I would pay him for his time and insisted but he still said no he stands by his word.Greg is a rare commodity these days.Its refreshing to know that there are people in this world who still possess honesty and integrity.Service Now is a scam they are more interested in up selling you on monthly memberships than they are doing good work and standing behind their work.Do not use Service Now.Call Greg at All Star instead.Thanks Again Greg
