So I’m not one to write reviews but today I feel it’s important that I do. I checked my car into the shop on a Sunday(June 20th) granted that they’re not open on the weekend so I understand that they didn’t start working on it. So I made a call on Monday because I know they didn’t have my number since I towed the car there and I asked him if they could please take a look at it and I had to call back on my own accord two days later to see if they even have started to work on it. I was told by Zack that I needed to give them the OK so I went ahead and gave them OK I asked him what the price was a quoted me $856. Which was OK with me no issue however, I do feel that it’s unprofessional to asked me that I need to call and give them OK when I told them to look at the car and the moment that they figured out what was wrong with it they should’ve called me and let me know so that I could’ve went ahead and gave them your OK. But it’s all good I let that pass I waited about a whole week to get my car fixed pretty much a whole week to get my car fixed. Then after that I go to pick up the car and my radio is not working. This is very uncool because when I came and brought my car into the shop my radio was working so there should be no reason why some thing that I had before is off now I asked the person to look at it he told me that he would need another day youwould have to research and Google it. No, I do not have the time or energy to wait another day after I’ve had the car in the shop for almost a week and paid almost $1000 so I said I will just take it to another shop. My issue is if i brought the car in one shape it should come the same type of way and there was an issue with it they should’ve fixed it before I even got to the car but clearly they don’t understand it. I only gave them two stars because apparently they got the job done I’m praying to God that there won’t be any more issues with the car and that they actually do what they’re supposed to do. But besides that the rest of the three star it because they’re unprofessional, they take super long, and leave your car in a parking lot unlocked granted I didn’t have any valuables in it and at the end of the day my radio is now messed up so God knows how much that’s gonna cost thank you so much AAMCO for wasting my time.Ps: the least they could’ve done was offer me a discount in exchange for them messing up something else but no their greed has overpower their professionalism.

These guys are exceptional. We brought in the truck thinking it needed a new transmission. Eddie and Gary checked it out and told us that is was not the transmission, but a much less expensive repair that they took care of. Rarely do you encounter honest mechanics but these guys are the real deal. Id trust them with any and all repairs.Again, Id highly recommend these guys.

I did not move forward with allowing this business to work on my truck and thank goodness I went with my instinct. For starters, if I would have known they only have one flood light on the top right corner of the building (not even bright a light....more of an amber orange color) I would have not towed my vehicle to leave overnight (which was actually towed during the day time and I was told I would be told the same day what the issue with my truck.....that did not happen). The parking lot is pitch dark. Cars cannot be seen from the road, so it is a great place for car thieves! DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VEHICLE OVERNIGHT. Another customer wrote about this issue....see other customer comments.Next, not only is it pitch dark in the parking lot, but their mechanics left my truck doors unlocked! GREAT security or concern for vehicles left on their parking lot. I am sure they will tell you we are not responsible for vehicles broken into on their property.I made the decision to tow my truck back home, because this was a red alert for me signaling they do sloppy work. Wait.....it gets better to prove my point. When I meet with the tow driver and crank up my truck the AC was on maximum and now MY TRUCK HAS A KNOCKING NOISE!!!! I was advised they drove it to the cemetery to test drive it, but why do they need to turn on my AC and why is it left on and what is this knocking noise that was not happening before I dropped off my truck.I would not take my vehicle to a business who shows early signs of being careless and not concern about customers property. Now I have a new problem on my hands to repair.

I will only state facts and no opinions. I came in to have a transmission leaking issue diagnosed. The service technicians informed me that the transmission lines needed to be replaced along with the transmission cooling unit. And the cost would be $900 total. An OEM transmission cooling unit would have to be ordered from a dealer and that would take up to a week.I said I would take a few days to consider. And as recommended make sure to check the transmission fluid.Today, I checked the lines from the transmission pan to the radiator. And there are zero breaks or leaks.I looked at the transmission cooling unit and it is dry as dirt. No leaks as I was informed.I focused back to the area where the fluid appears on the ground. And to my surprise the intake line just needs to be tightened. How the technicians missed that is beyond me.

Went to have transmission flushed, was told that my second gear wasnt working, payed $959.00 to get it fixed, and was told after. I this that they just fix one part was told they only fix the hold transmission which would cost me almo $4000.00 . I was that the $959 was just to take the transmission off to see what was all wrong, and to put back on so I lost $959.00. They messed my universal joint up, they claim it was already about tio go bad, they never mentioned that it was damaged while they had. My advice to any needing their transmission serviced, I see why they have a 3.6 rating. I chose AAmcco. Only because Monica Kuffman endorsement, I paid a price for that.

My 2011 Mazda started using to much oil between changes and I knew it would need an engine replacement. I checked with four shops and decided to give the job to AAMCO on North Decatur. The manager Zach has great customer service. He sat down with me and took the time to explain the process to me in detail. Zach found me an engine replacement with only 21000 miles, with a 12 month 12000 mile warranty on the engine. After going over everything with Zach I knew I wanted AAMCO to do the engine replacement for my car. We also decided to replace the radiator, both CV axel front wheel drive shafts, hoses and belt. The engine technicians did an exceptional job and was completed in one week. Zachs father did an exceptional job making sure all the computer components sync up with the car computer module. With everyone’s exceptional work and expertise the car is a joy to drive. The Mazda runs like new all over again. I am very happy with how the car turned out and highly recommend AAMCO on North Decatur for all your car care needs. Stop in and see Zach!!!!!Thank youGreg

(Picture shown is after transmission was fixed and we spent $4000)Edit: Please for the love of God, do not ever use this shop. The owner is dishonest and unprofessional. They took our car back in for another 3 weeks and ended up having to outsource it to another shop because they are not capable of fixing the problem with the steering wheel (which was not a problem we had when we took it in for the transmission). The owners son Zach agreed that they would pay for our rental car bill at this time since they admittedly broke our steering wheel function and back up camera. Zach asked my husband if wed change our reivew online and my husband said he would talk to me since I wrote it and have been the one without a car for over 2 MONTHS now. When my husband went in to give them the bill for the rental car the owner only paid half and said he would not give him the other half until we changed our review on google. Keep in mind they still have not offered any other considerations (such as an inspection by a competent car company to ensure their 4th time around working on our car is actually sufficient or a discount in the $4000 bill we initially paid for them to cause more damage to our car). When I called the owner to question why he did not give us the full payment for the rental as his son had promised he said we had not done our end of the deal with basically lying and changing our review. He also had the audacity to tell me the steering wheel issue was not their fault, even though the steering wheel/back up cam only stopped working AFTER they fixed our transmission. I refused to change our reivew as I feel that others should know that this is not a good company and how much time, money and stress this has caused my husband and I. We had to make several phones calls and trips to this shop for them to fix anything. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE.Original Post:We recently had our transmission replaced with AAMCO and paid $4000. After the first time we picked up the car and paid, our back-up camera did not work, none of the steering wheel functions work (cruise control, hands free phone, volume etc) and to make matters worse, the battery died on the way home. After driving it for a couple of days, we took the car back because it still was not shifting/driving well. Mike, who weve worked with throughout this process, said it was okay and the computer needed to adapt to the new changes. On the way home from the shop (literally immediately after they told us we should not be concerned and it was safe to drive), the transmission fluid leaked out everywhere and the car turned off. I drive 80 miles round trip in this car every day. I can only imagine how terrible this couldve been had I been driving my regular commute on 285/85 and the car just shut down in the middle of the interstate. We took the car back in for a second time, they fixed the transmission and we were called to pick it up. All of the additional problems it had after the first drop off still remain (back up cam, steering wheel issue still not fixed). Mike has told us two or three times now he would talk to his boss to see what he can do in regards to the huge amount of time and money weve put into a problem that was not properly fixed the first, second or third time and is still not fixed after multiple phone calls and visits to the shop. We basically received our car back in a significantly worse and dangerous condition than when we dropped it off. Mike has never initiated a call to us after each of these issues to inform us hes spoken to his boss. As far as I know, he hasnt spoken to him at all yet as there has been no offer to discount the price of services or arrange a time for us to come back in to fix the issues they created in the first place. We continue to call him and have honestly been more than patient throughout this whole process.Their service and workmanship was extremely neglectful, unprofessional and unacceptable. Please think twice before taking your car here.

Wonderful, friendly and honest customer service from Mike! I am here from Canada helping my elderly mom who had recently moved to Atlanta. I was looking for a reliable repair shop for her to rely on and came across AAMCO in Decatur. During my first call, I felt like this might be the place to recommend to mom. Mike was friendly, professional and helpful. I brought moms car in because I had been hearing a noise in the front end over a number of weeks. Mike and his crew checked the car out....funny thing....after hearing the noise for weeks, it was now gone. Another place might have put unnecessary parts on and charged me a bunch. Instead, Mike took it out for a test drive with me to make sure the noise I had been hearing was gone. It was. So when I asked what I owed for checking, he just waved me off and said have a nice day...no charge. I will for sure put his name and number in moms contact list for all her auto needs!

This has to be one of the most unprofessional businesses I have ever dealt with. I cannot even begin to list the lies I was told, or the mistakes they made that cost me a considerable amount of money, but here is a start:I brought my truck to them on a Tuesday just before Thanksgiving with transmission problems and was told that it needed a rebuild transmission and that they guaranteed they would have it done by Friday. It was not done by Friday, or the next Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, but only on the following Friday, Every day I called and was assured that it would be done the next day. That weeks delay cost me approximately $900, including lost work time, and they reimbursed me $150.Three weeks later my transmission was having problems again, and I took it back in. the next day I called to find out the diagnosis and they said it needed rebuilding, but was of course still under warranty. Jimmy told me that they had started working on it. I told him that I needed to stop by and get a few things out of it since it might be a few days, and he told me I would have to go up to their storage lot where it was parked. Obviously if it was in a storage lot, they were not working on it. After some discussion, I agreed that I would leave it with them until the 1st of January, since I was going out of town for two weeks for Christmas. He assured me that it would be done during those two weeks. I called him on the first; the truck was still not done. When I went to pick it up on the second, I mentioned the large drops of oil hanging from the new transmission and asked if they had tested for leaks. He assured me that it was just leftover oil from the repair; apparently they dont expect their people to clean up very well. Two days later there was a huge puddle of oil on my driveway so I took the truck back. He said it must be a rear seal that needed replacing. I mentioned that the oil was dripping from the front, not the rear, so it couldnt be the rear seal, and made an appointment to bring it in again in a couple days for repair. On the way in for my appointment, the transmission failed completely and the truck had to be towed. First Jimmy tried to tell me that it had run out of oil because of the leak (which he had twice previously told me was tiny and not an issue). I mentioned to him that the oil level was not low when I brought it in last, neither was it low at any time since, as I had been checking it daily. They kept the truck, in order to put a THIRD transmission in it. This time, they took time to do a proper flush and found out that the coolant lines were clogged with old clutch material from the original burned out transmission, causing the unit to overheat from lack of oil. In other words, all this hassle was due to their complete incompetence in the first place. It was not mechanical failure, it was not an accident, it was due to multiple employees not having a clue how to install a transmission. Their mistakes cost me a total of about $1,600 in rental fees and lost work over the more than three weeks that they had my truck.I did make a complaint to the BBB, and the owner lied to them and said that he had reached an agreement with me, when in fact he had neglected to ever answer or return my calls, and had even gone to the extent of driving off while I was waiting for him at his office. This company will be reported to the Georgia Office of Consumer Affairs, and obviously, Ill never go back for any reason.

I own a 2008 Altima and have had very few issues w it. However, last week out of nowhere it started shifting strangely, bucking, shuddering and the Check Engine Soon light came on. I was sure because if the symptoms I was going to be dealing with a major transmission problem and a bill to go w/ I. Having not had to go to many mechanics around I had no idea who to bring my car too for a major problem like this. Thank goodness I went to Chris @ the Aamco. First and foremost he let me know that it may not actually be all that bad. He explained to me that they would need to look at it but would call in a couple of hours. Mike called exactly as promised and broke down what was going on. He actually explained that there was a diagnostic he would prefer to run just to make sure what he thought was the issue was exactly that instead of going into the transmission. Sure enough Mike loves as right and the cost for the repair was far cheaper than I expected given that it wasnt even a transmission issues. I had my cat back by the end of the day and its a week later and all is great with it. If you need a trustworthy place to bring you car do yourself a favor and go see Chris and Mike at Aamco. I cannot in good conscience recommend this repair shop to anybody for any reason, unless you can afford to pay twice. Here is my account of my experience with them:I had my 2001 S10 towed to this shop for a clutch repair in October 2011. The truck had 52k miles on it. I paid $878.50 for a new clutch and slave cylinder, and the price included $450 labor. The manager was friendly and courteous. I thought the price was fair and was satisfied for 16 months. On March 4th, 2013 my clutch failed again. The truck had 67k miles. I took it to a different, ASE certified repair shop. I had moved, and the new shop is much closer to my apartment. Again I paid for a new clutch, slave cylinder and labor to the tune of $982. The new mechanic was highly suspicious that the clutch he pulled out of my truck, the one this shop installed, had been remanufactured. He pointed out to me several indicators on the clutch disk and pressure plate. Immediately upon receipt of my truck I went back to the original shop and spoke with the man behind the desk, the same one with whom I had dealt in October.I asked him to pull the original bill, he printed me a copy. It said I was charged for a new clutch. I showed him the clutch that had been pulled out of my truck, and pointed out to him the same indicators that my new mechanic had showed me. I asked him if they, to his professional opinion, indicated a rebuilt clutch. He told me he didnt have enough experience working with clutches to give me a definite answer. I asked to speak with a mechanic, that perhaps they would know better. He told me none of the mechanics in his shop spoke good enough English to answer any of my questions. In light of his complete inability to explain a clutch failure in 16 months/16k miles, and his inability to answer a single one of my questions, I asked for at least the money back that I spent on parts. He told me to talk to the owner.I called four or five times the next day between 9:45 am and 1 pm, which was when he told me the owner would be available. Jimmy was the only person that ever answered the phone. As my phone calls progressed over the hours, the owner went from not there, to with a customer but would call me back, to oh you just missed him. When last I spoke to Jimmy around 1 pm, he said that he had talked to the owner on my behalf and that all they could do was warranty a new clutch, but Id still be on the hook for labor to install it. I explained that this was unacceptable to me, as I had just had a new clutch and slave cylinder installed at my own expense by another mechanic. I again asked for my money back that I had spent on parts. He told me he was sorry, but he couldnt refund me.I called one more time, around 3 or 4 pm. It went to the answering machine. I left a message simply saying that I didnt think it was unreasonable to speak with the owner of the shop who denied me any refund, and that I would like him to call me back as soon as he could. I have not heard from anybody from this shop since. At the end of the day, the facts are as such:-The parts this shop installed failed after 16 months of ordinary commuting. -Inspection by another ASE certified mechanic indicated that they were not as described, or of otherwise very low quality.-The only man Ive ever spoken to at this shop told me he didnt have the experience with clutch components to either deny these claims or tell me what could have caused the components to fail the way they did.-I was told that no mechanic in the shop could help me, because none of them spoke good enough English.-Despite my effort, I have never been able to even talk to the only man there who could answer my questions or provide any compensation that would be acceptable to me.If you value your money, I recommend you find another repair shop. I repeat that because of this experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend this shop to anybody for any reason.

I was pleased by the work done on my car (2003 BMW 525i) and the customer service received from the staff. In June I was referred to this Aamco transmission shop after the transmission in my BMW would not go into reverse. Once my car was towed to the shop, i was contacted by the owner, Chris Creary, promptly. He discussed the pros and cons of rebuilding versus replacing the transmission. He also discussed the price and the time needed for the repairs. My decision was to have the transmission rebuilt by his shop.At first i was somewhat skeptic of the time frame Mr. Creary said the car would be ready. Chris Creary and his organization delivered the car on time as promised. Throughout the time of repair, I contacted the shop for the progress of the repairs. Each time the staff was courteous and informative of what was being done. The car was delivered on time.It has been several weeks since the car has been repaired and I have no complaints of the work done. The transmission shifts and performs as it did prior to the break down.I want to thank Chris Creary and his staff for the repairs on my car.

Ive had a nightmare experience with AAMCO on North Decatur. This review involves my 1995 Nissan 300ZX (this matters later).Feb 2014 I took my car in to have the center bearing replaced. They said they could do it, so I trusted them. It took forever to get my car back because the owner (Christopher Creary) dragged his heels the entire time. What should take less than 4 hours to fix took 4 days.Once I received the car back it shook heavily in every gear. I decided to take it to Drive Line Service of Atlanta (Jonesboro Road) and have them take a peek. DLS told me AAMCO had installed the center bearing for a BMW and it had been altered to fit. DLS replaced 2 u-joints (source of the shaking), which AAMCO should have noticed, and off I went.Over the next week, I called AAMCO 3 times to speak with Chris Creary on why a part for a different make and model was installed on my car and he never once returned my calls. For the record, the lady at the front desk (Susan) was very helpful and I felt sorry for her being stuck between me and Chris.Fast forward two months and the car is shaking like hell in first gear. It took me hounding AAMCO for two weeks to get them to help me. I was being told they couldnt find the correct center bearing. I called a place in Metro Atlanta and within five minutes had located the part. I also had to get AAMCO Corporate involved to get any progress with this and Chris Creary continued to drag his feet.AAMCO had my car on a lift two days later and replaced the center bearing for free. Kinda. I drove off and noticed the car was a bit shakey, so I took it back to Drive Line Services. AAMCO had installed the bearing backward, which had damaged the drive shaft. I had DLS go ahead and replace the shaft with a single rod and now the car drives better than it has in years. (Cant recommend DLS enough.)Will I pursue repayment with AAMCO? Maybe. Im honestly just happy this nightmare experience is over. I guarantee you, I will never do business with them again. Christopher K. Creary will never get my business again. Hes a lying, evasive, manipulative jackhole and I beg you, dear person looking to get your car repaired, do not take your car here. If Im slandering his name, then lets pull out the evidence, which I have document and photographic evidence supporting everything Ive said above.

On the internet it states that the store is open from 8-12. I called someone picked up and said they are closed on Saturday. Why pick up the phone if the business is closed? Dont make customers think your open on Saturday when your not.

Online, it says this store is open on Saturday mornings. After driving 8 miles to this location, we find out that theyre only open Monday through Friday. False advertisement coupled with rude telephone support means that I will NEVER give this company my business.
