We have rented the house on old A1A south of Matanzas Inlet for a week the last two years and are very pleased. It is an excellent location, the place is clean and very comfortable. Having the dock is very nice and beach is as remote as you can get in this area. The pool makes a geat addition as well. Shopping and attractions are very close. Would reccomend; will return.
I rented from this company this year for a rental of a beach-front house south of St. Augustine, near Matanzas Inlet. The company was very easy to work with: all communication was very explicit and complete, good follow up and everything was as described. The local property manager was very responsive about meeting our group at the house, explaining everything and responding to questions and issues by phone during our stay, including helping us turn off the smoke alarm which was set off by a steak smoking in a skillet on the stovetop. The house was immaculately clean. I hesitate to share details about the property because once other folks find out about it, it wont be available next year! First of all, the house is almost at the end of a one lane sand, gravel and broken asphalt road that used to be A1A before storms washed it out, leaving a stirp of land less than 150 feet wide between the ocean and a creek that flows into the ICW. The ocean is, at high tide, less than 25 feet from the front of the house. There is a private dock on the creek in back. The nearest house on one side is 150 feet away...over 1000 feet in the other direction. I went out on the beach my first morning there at 11 AM on a perfect Sunday morning...I was the only person on the beach for as far as I could see in both directions! The beach is soft, clean sand with scattered shells tossed up by the tide. The house is huge, set up to sleep up to 20 folks with: a huge king master suite with 2 separate sitting areas, a TV/entertainment area and private balcony; 4 other bedrooms with 2 queen beds in each, plus a couple of cots. The house is an open floor plan with a great room with three leather sofas with built in recliners arranged in front of the large flat screen tv, a billiards table with a ping pong table that fits on top and a foosball table. There is also gaming system and TV in one of the upstairs bedrooms. The kitchen has dual ovens, two toasters, two microwaves, two coffee makers and a large induction cooktop and stainless cookware,,, you can boil water in less than 1 minute! The dining table seats 14 quite comfortably. The house had wi-fi and it worked flawlessly. There were large covered decks on the rear and front of the house and an uncovered side deck, a huge 6 burner stainless propane grill, plenty of deck furniture. One more minor feature, for those who dont like to fight the waves on the beach ...the house has a private, professionally-maintained 15 x 25 above ground pool, 4 feet deep with a large sunning deck, right next door!We played in the house, played in the pool, played in the surf, fished on the beach, fished from the dock, paddled our canoe and kayak out into the creeks . Marineland, now a dolphin research center operated by the Georgia Aquarium, is 1/2 mile away and my 15 yo played with dolphins. The location was a perfect mix of privacy, convenience to shopping and restaurants in St. Augustine, the Jacksonville airport and only 90 minutes to Disney World. Finally, the rental company sent back our security deposit within 2 weeks. We hope to go back next year, assuming I havent ruined that possibility by posting this review!
