King is a special place. It is much more than a gym to me. This is a place where you share in a sense of community and share accomplishments with like minded people. This is a place where you will grow as an athlete and a teammate.The coaches at King are just that. They are coaches. They know each and everyone of their athletes (clients) and what they are capable of. As a woman, I feel empowered when I am here. Ive never been made to feel like a girl but always like an athlete. They even communicate and celebrate you outside of the gym. I honestly feel like they truly care about me and the entire King community as a 2nd family.The programming is specific and scientifically driven to produce results. It focuses on strength and performance just like the name says :) They preach consistency above all. And on top of it all, we have a fun and a good time there too!Strength training at King has improved my performance as a triathlete. Ive seen major improvements, specifically in my running, that I know comes from the work I was doing there. So if youve never lifted before and are a runner or a cyclist, I would still highly encourage trying it out!
I don’t have the words to explain and thank Gerrick and rob, my experience attending king strength performance has been amazing, their professionalism, ethnic of work and good heart make me never want to leave this place.The best part of everything is that I am able to bring my one year old son, when ever I don’t have some to take care of him. There has been times in the middle of my session where my son starts getting bored and one of the trainers comes to the rescue to help me out with him. I had never had to leave without finishing my routine. They been so kind with my son, which that fulfills my heart with so much joy.Thank you king strength performance for everything you guys do. As of a full time working mom, my schedule is hectic and has prevented me from staying consistent with a workout routine. King has so many class offerings a day there really isn’t an excuse not to come workout. The workouts are challenging but doable, the community is welcoming and supportive, and the trainers are caring and qualified. I definitely recommend king to anyone looking for a gym in Union county.
This gym’s community is unlike any other I’ve been a part of before. We don’t just workout together during classes, we also hang out outside together. It’s a real family. I see these guys more than my actual family.
All of the above! I’m no stranger to the gym, its trainers or equipment. For awhile I’ve had issues especially with my lower back that I’ve addressed for so long, but not much progress made. When I came across King’s Strength, I was open and honest about my issues. The trainers were able to clearly and concisely assess the root cause, and after attending their classes, and incorporating strength and mobility sessions, I’ve noticed much improvement! They’re very knowledgeable (finally trainers who apply a more scientific approach), and are willing to help me achieve my goal of being better, fitter and stronger. They’re welcoming and very attentive. I appreciate all that they have done for me, as well as the communities they serve. This was an incredible decision, and proud to be a part of this dynamic team. Encouraging!!!I joined for a few months, and I enjoyed it so much!! It was a great change for me. Since all I was doing previously was weight lifting. The classes were great they always had a trainer correcting posture and encouraging you along the way. I definitely recommend!!! The owners and everyone else treat you like family and they’re very sweet!!! :-)

Prior to joining this gym, I never really appreciated fitness or exercise. Gerrick, Rob and the rest of the trainers have been welcoming and supportive since my first day and they genuinely care about their clients. I went from not prioritizing my fitness to consistently going to the gym 3 times per week. They helped me incorporate and appreciate fitness in my life.
King has been by far one of the best gyms I have joined. The owners Gerrick, Rob and their team are knowledgeable in their art of training. You can tell it is their passion to train and see progression in their clients. I started with some personal training classes back in September of 2020 to regain confidence, knowledge of strength training and most importantly to me, consistency. Its been a little challenge for me to stay consistent with a gym practice. Their hashtag #consistencyisKING has been so helpful! So if you do feel intimidated at first take some PT classes, you wont regret them. In addition to the PT classes, I started to join group classes in January and they are so much fun. Seeing the progression of the program week by week is an amazing feeling. The community is amazing and there is no competition. Trainers will definitely push you to your edge and then some. The staff at King are truly passionate about what they do. In my honest opinion, my favorite part of King is that the trainers are very encouraging and enthusiastic to train people incl new people, which takes the intimidation of just starting to go to the gym away.The community at King is so supportive of each other that creates an atmosphere which helps me to get stronger each time and give that last ounce of energy before the workout ends. This is an excellent gym with high quality trainers. You can have a fantastic experience here whether you are experienced with athletics or fitness, or have not stepped in a gym in a long time. The daily classes are challenging and fun. Each trainer at King brings a distinctive personality to the gym, making a well-balanced, exciting environment. The trainers do an excellent job of correcting your technique and helping you improve your form. The community here is great and stronger than at most gyms, as the other clients are very friendly and uplifting.
An amazing workout environment led by a very talented, intellectual and goal oriented team. Training at Kings, which is focused on strength, has helped achieve things I could never do on my own. The King Strength and Performance gym has been a wonderful asset to my life and mental well being. I have been a member since the gym opened in 2018 and have not looked back. Through all the physical challenges that were put in front of me by trainers I have found a way to push through them all. The environment is very welcoming and has become a second family. This place is more than just a gym. When I walk in, I know I am going to get greeted with my name and not just a generic hi. Been working out at King for 2 years now and I’ve greatly improved my overall strength and fitness levels(way beyond where I was at in my 20s). The strength programming is based around the 5 major lifts(deadlift,squat,bent over row, over head press, bench press), the way it should be. Conditioning days are also thrown in to keep you honest. I was first introduced to KING the beginning of last year, and have now been apart of their current apprenticeship program over the past 6 weeks. I stumbled upon this gem looking to increase my strength and train my fitness, but consistently coming to training sessions brought me so much more. First, I was taken aback by the amazing community that continues to grow. They foster values that have helped me grow physically but also emotionally and mentally. I used to struggle with constant injury, but with excellent coaching and smart programming, that is a thing of the past. You cant go wrong with this wholesome gym and community.
I live in Boston and utilize Kings digital programming via TrainHeroic. Their programming is clear, concise, and effective. I track my workouts on their app and the trainers regularly provide feedback and communicate with me about my progress via zoom or FaceTime. Whenever Im visiting New Jersey, I make sure to drop by King for a training session. Im waiting for them to open up a King close to me!
I stumbled into King Strength through a friend, and I can only say I wish I had started sooner. This is the first place in all of my years going to the gym or working with a trainer where I truly believe that I will accomplish the goals I set to achieve physically. Over the years, I didn’t believe strength training was important for me, as I did a lot of HIIT and cardio. After a knee injury that changed a lot of things. I started private training with Rob and noticed the quality of my workouts change. Rob really has been working with me on my form, and is such a positive instructor and great teacher.For someone who couldn’t do a push-up with good form, I’ve gotten VERY close to doing one with the best form I’ve ever had. I’m stronger than I’ve ever been and I’m now even working on pull ups.I’ve been coming to this gym for a year, and the trainers have become not just friends, they’ve become my second family. ❤️

I’ve been lifting on my own for years and was taught the “bro science” way. Which is a bunch of mythical BS mixed in with questionable preworkout and even more questionable form. Then, I found KING. I signed up for a trial with King back in June just when Covid restrictions were being eased and I was immediately impressed with how professional they were and how they were able to adapt to new safety guidelines.As far as the gym itself, I can’t say enough good things about this place. The people at the gym are very friendly and inviting. Their members have zero ego and are very down to earth people who are accepting of all backgrounds. However, the owner and head trainer only care about sales. They prioritize sales and culture over fitness, so dont fall for their brown nosing. They are also very overpriced for outdoor classes. Gyms can now reopen indoors and they are still increasing membership dues, but offering the same outdoor workouts. If you have zero prior fitness experience, then this is the gym for you and you will love it. If you are very experienced and knowledgable, stay away and spend your money elsewhere. It is simply not worth the price if you already know what you are doing and do not need tiger-parent coaching.
It is hard to find a place that meets the varying expectations of every individual. For me, this gym has it all, a great community, creative workout programming, supportive trainers, virtual classes, private or group training sessions. The workouts are distinct, continually challenging, and have helped me attain my goals consistently. Special thanks to Gerrick, Rob, and all the King trainers.
I started training at KING about 2 years ago and I absolutely love it. Im able to hop off the train, get in a great workout with some great folks, and walk home. Cant get better than that.
Been a member of 5-6 gyms in my adult life and in a short time King has because my favorite workout experience.The type of group training instructions they offer is quite unique as they really focus on functional performance. The workouts are incredibly smart and well thought out. I think following their training program for the last ~2 months, I’ve gained the most strength and mobility I can ever remember having. I really have to emphasize how smart the training is.The culture is awesome and accommodating for people of all experience levels. The gym is insanely clean and they seem to take very active measures to keep it that way. My wife and I are going on about 6 consecutive weeks of 7 or 8am classes on Saturday morning and it’s the highlight of our week.
I moved to the area and looked for a gym that was above a standard generic gym. King S&P offers a staff that is friendly and very knowledgeable. The facility is kept clean and the community of members are very motivating. I have done a mix of personal training and the virtual training. The workouts are challenging regardless of a person’s fitness level. I can honestly say this gym has made fitness fun for me again and encourages me to keep setting new goals

I used KSP for their virtual training and it was a great experience. The trainers were watching carefully to make sure my form was correct and adjusted the programming as needed for my injury. I highly recommend their programming!

I joined this gym as part of their personal trainer apprenticeship without any prior knowledge of the gym and its community. As an apprentice, I was able to witness first hand the amount of hard work that Gerrick (the owner) and his trainers put into the gym. Not only is the quality of programming amazing, but the culture that this gym community fosters is unparalleled. Even after moving to another state and traveling for work, I have yet to find a gym that matches the culture and workouts that King provides.
Showing up at King is the highlight of my day. Gerrick and the team are diligent about adhering to Covid restrictions including mandatory masks, social distancing and wiping down all equipment between classes.The community here is incredibly inclusive and feels more like family. Ive been a member of several gyms/studios, as I like to do different types of workouts to change up my body. King Strength is like no other. I started off virtual in the middle of the Covid 19, and that is what convinced me.They are legit virtual workouts, not someone just saying go, lift higher, yes, great, you can do it. I LEGIT came out of those workouts sore. On top of that, I started going to outdoor workouts. And like I said, when my body is sore then I know the workouts are effective. The coaches and the members are so welcoming and they teach you technique, they are not just trying to conduct class, and peaceing out. Also, you get VARIETY. I cant even explain it, the workouts are programmed differently every month or so...I suggest you give it a trial run, and let me know what you think. Joined the gym in May and haven’t looked back since! I always wanted to incorporate more weight lifting into my workouts but was intimidated at “big box gyms”. The coaches at King care about your form and safety. That safety is not just in your sets but in the safety precautions the gym takes for Covid. I move around a lot so I’ve had a good amount of trainers and gym memberships.. nothing really compares to the experience you get with Gerrick’s training. Workouts are always different which gets results much faster and it’s more exciting than some gyms who take you through variations of the same workout.During covid I’ve experienced an outside workout and now a virtual training which were both amazing! I definitely encourage everyone to sign up for virtual trainings to stay on track with your body/health goals during this time if you’re more cautious of going out or if you live out of state now like I do!
I am so happy I stepped into this gym four months ago. I am not a gym person nor have I ever been excited to go to the gym but that all changed when I started at King! I joined King during COVID-19 and i am so grateful that I did! My experience from prospect to member was seamless. I reached out via Facebook and got a reply within minutes. I scheduled my evaluation that same day, joined, and took my first class. The environment is clean, and they follow COVID protocol and I never feel at risk.I’ve been able to work out with all of the coaches and I know that every coach supports me and my goals, and can provide modifications when I need them.Another amazing thing- a physical therapist at the gym. As an athlete, it’s really beneficial to have a physical therapist and strength and conditioning coaches that work together for optimal progress and results.As a female I feel this is a safe space and there is a sense of community I have not experienced in many other gyms. I am so grateful i found King and my new strength and conditioning home.
I can’t say enough good things about this gym and the coaches. I started working with the King Strength team virtually last summer during the pandemic - Tiff helped me get out of my isolated funk + anxiety and reminded me that working out can be fun with the right mindset and energy. I’ve also taken classes with Gerrick, Rob, Kacper and Sheryl this past year - their enthusiasm is always infectious and their patience to teach virtually is inspiring. Never felt that I was getting less of a workout or technique lesson/form adjustment just because I was only working out via Zoom. Lastly, I think the fact that this gym is a family and never fails to make us members feel part of that family is the best kind of energy to put out there (that’s why we all smile and laugh despite the coaches torturing us with x amount of burpees..)!
Started going here at the beginning of the Covid Pandemic. All the trainers are really knowledgeable and helpful. Their training blocks and workouts all have purpose to it. Just celebrated my one year anniversary with King Strength & Performance. From the first day I walked in the staff were very welcoming. I have some previous injuries which hinder in some exercises, but the staff help adapt without hesitation, their knowledge is unquestioned. Theres a community feeling being involved with King, one that is missing with previous gyms Ive tried.During the lockdown of gyms this past year, King was on top of things straight away & seamlessly switched to online classes, delivering the same top level coaching as being in person. After lockdown measures were eased, classes were planned & delivered safely & effectively.I wished I found this gym sooner!The motto for the gym is never a truer word, Consistency is KING!
My wife forced me to workout with her...and Im glad she did. I completed my first session of #KSPHomebody tonight. It was tough for me, because I havent really been exercising. Even so, I was able to complete all the repetitions and circuits without cutting corners. Initially, I thought that Id complete one session to make the wife happy and then be done. I joined King at the end of September after not training for 3 years. They are a community that has created accountability for me. I love the trainers and schedule plus I’ve seen more results here than anywhere else. Great versatility in classes and individual help whenever needed! Especially during covid-19 they have classes, the app and social media pages so you can always feel connected.
I have never felt more welcome by a gym. I have some health issues and most trainers don’t know where to start with me, eventually getting frustrated and giving up. Since joining King, Gerrick has never once given up on training me. There has never been a mumble or complaint, I’m in the family and that’s all that’s to it. My limitations are never even discussed, he modifies exercises and workout plan, and has never made a big deal of it. I’ve never felt more accepted or at home at another gym. King is for everyone, modifications are made without a blink and all the trainers are exceptional in helping guide you and teach the right techniques. If you’re looking for a gym to feel at home in while also shredding those dreaded extra lbs and getting cut, King is the gym for you.
This gym has positively impacted my life in the following ways:1. Coaches give good advice on lifts - preventing injuryLike most people, I used to go the gym knowing a few movements and cues (e.g. squat to below parallel). I would always get injured and didnt lift in optimally .Here, I always get some new tip, and saw my injury rate decrease.In house physical therapist to get your body right.Its like having that jacked knowledgeable uncle youve never had lifting with you.2. Safe lifting environment in Corona timeWhile gyms were too dangerous to operate during peak Covid, King adapted and had classes outside for a while. Same caution goes towards indoor classes. I feel safer here than with some of my actual friends.3. Takes guesswork out of programming a lifting schedule.You can research 100s of hours of your time into finding out how often to squat and what you should do for getting a big upper body, and probably fail OR you can let these guys take the guesswork/time out and give you an efficient way to get stronger and faster.My background: 20 something weekend warrior whos formerly competed in powerlifting.All the other stuff is nice (super friendly + KNOWLEDGEABLE coaches, InBody fat% calculator, great culture, cool merch, trendy location between lots of restaurants) but is something I personally dont care too much about. Maybe you will.Anyways, I obviously recommend for the above reasons! Try it out.
I travel all over for work and use ClassPass to drop in to various gyms when I can. I stumbled upon King Strength and Performance while working on a project in NJ and I can honestly say that its the best gym Ive ever been to. The moment you walk through their doors you are immediately greeted by both their staff and community of members. The training sessions are difficult but well thought out. Every time I complete a workout, I feel tired but in weird way wanting more. Whenever Im in the area, I make sure to drop in for a visit.

If you know me, you definitely know how lazy I was when it came to exercising. Luckily, the first session immediately changed my mind. Working out with friends is fun and motivational. I am slowly increasing my workout routines, but already feel more energized and have been getting better quality sleep - Im talking about deep, REM sleep. Initially, my mindset was simply to “workout to eat good food.” Now, it’s shifted to “workout to eat good food, get energized, sleep well, and be healthier.” I was even able to convince *cough* bribe *cough* my husband into working out with me by saying that we’ll be more energized, which will help him study more … and help me clean the house instead of just taking a nap. LOLThe sessions are broken down into sections so that you dont have to do a billion repetitions of one exercise and want to quit. Instead, you have a steady flow and are able to ask the instructor for additional modifications as needed. For example, my left knee tends to hurt when exercising and my doctor tells me not to push it too much. I asked the instructor about it and they gave me lower impact variations. I feel safe and cared for knowing that the coaches at looking out for me by watching my form to ensure I do not injure myself.Not once did I feel uncomfortable or judged. Instead, everyone was very encouraging and positive. I am glad to have found this new, welcoming community. 10/10 would highly recommend it.Hope to [virtually] see you there!
This gym not only has all the equipments you need, it’s clean and spacious, and most of all the instructor Gerrick King is the best at what he does. His professionalism and dedication to your individual fitness goals is unprecedented. Highly recommend this gym and amazing instructor!
Gerrick is an amazing trainer with incredible knowledge. He really listens to his clients and provides the best work out for each individual. You can tell he’s really passionate about his career. The gym is always clean and I feel like there’s enough space to have multiple people training together. Stop in and try a class or two, I promise you’ll wanna come back for more!

Nice, clean, sleek boutique gym. Friendly staff! I took a strength class tonight, the class was great! Circuits were very well organized and Gerrick was super attentive making sure everyone was performing exercises properly. Ill definitely be back!
Just started with Gerrick this week. Workouts are intense and well worth it! A lot of parking and everyone is friendly/inviting. The facility is spotless just signed one year of unlimited classes can’t wait to see where this takes me!

Gerrick and the staff at King Strength & Performance built a culture that Ive never experienced at other gyms. Every time I walk through the doors, I feel like Im a part of a family. Warm smiles, encouragement and laughter are abundant here. Gerrick truly listens to his clients & customers and has an attention to detail that cant be found anywhere else. Hes constantly asking for feedback and tailoring the gym to their needs, regardless of their fitness experience. Im blown away with how much hes achieved in such a short period of time and I cant wait for what the future has in store.

Training with Gerrick is fun and rewarding, there are times I want to curse him out and give up but he pushes me out of my comfort zone and shows me how much my body can handle. Its clear how much passion he has for what he does, and I am definitely seeing the results.
Cant say enough good things about this place! First off I was blown away by how great of a community Gerrick and his team have built - everyone is welcoming, encouraging, and great at keeping you accountable. Theres also a unique positive energy to group classes that I havent seen with other similarly priced fitness franchises. Keeps me coming back and making time for fitness in my life.Programming is changed up regularly for continued growth and gains. As a long distance runner Ive finally struck a good balance between training runs and strength training. PRs all race season (and injury free) after half a year at King!Anddd the facility is consistently clean.Come join the fam!

Coach Gerrick has been a great inspiration for me. His hard work and dedication with this gym has grown it into the tight knit community it is today. Gerricks workouts are unique and challenging each time Ive attended class. There are even times where I thought I wouldnt be able to do the workout, but his belief in every one of his athletes keeps you going. The classes are efficient, fair, and fun. Even though they may feel challenged, the workouts are all the more rewarding when you finish.
Awesome workout. I usually go to orange theory but this is much more intense. I would highly recommend.

I am in the best shape of my life because of Gerrick King. I would recommend anyone, regardless of their fitness level to seek out Gerrick and his team of trainers at King Strength & Performance. Gerrick is very knowledgeable about fitness. Ive always been moderately fit but was never able to surpass certain goals, but training with him has kept me consistent. These days I am periodically hitting my set PR goals. Im stronger now, feel more confident, and no longer fear weight training. Thanks to him Ive made fitness a priority in my routine and actually look forward to working out.
Ive been to my fair share of gyms and fitness classes - commercial gyms, CrossFit, Zumba, spin etc. You name it and Ive probably tried it. What sets King apart from all those other gyms Ive tried is not only the quality of workouts that they provide but also their trainers. I always leave the gym feeling great about myself and my body. The trainers are so attentive and supportive and the workouts are diverse and exciting. They are always quick with modifications if theres something you cant so.Ive also had some personal training in addition to taking classes with Coach Austin. He has always given me a personalized program that was fun and exciting to achieve my goals. Working with him for a couple weeks has helped me lose some pesky tummy weight, build muscle and achieve my lifting goals. Ive never felt more confident in my body and my abilities in the gym.I would be hard pressed to find a more welcoming gym atmosphere than at King. Everytime someone new comes everyone is quick to introduce themselves. It is one of the most positive and uplifting communities that Ive been apart of.

Walking into a new gym will always be intimidating to me, but walking into King Strength and Performance made me feel welcomed. I have never been to a gym where everyone actually talked to one another during AND after class. In the past month, I’ve made some friends with similar fitness goals, and it makes these group classes fun even when my body isn’t fully awake at 7am.This gym truly stands by its slogan “Consistency is King.” Taking these fitness classes made it easier for me to get into my workout routine; however, all the daily workouts vary. I have been coming here almost every day, and I definitely feel my overall strength and performance has improved. Gerrick does a great job in acknowledging clients’ abilities and caters the workout to their difficulty. He offers countless exercise regressions and progressions for his clients’ needs. Also, his confidence in his clients makes it all the worthwhile to do your absolute best during these group classes. I have been training with Gerrick King for over two years and I always say I will follow him anywhere. Gerrick is extremely knowledgeable about exercise science and has experience training various types of clients. I have no idea how his workouts are so much and effective at the same time. I have worked out at almost all of the gyms in the Cranford/Westfield area and I have to say that most trainers were not knowledgable and did not take my hip labrum tear into consideration; causing me to further injure my hip and hit a plateau in my progress. Because of this, I have been bouncing from gym to gym trying to find the right fit for me.King Strength and Performance is the first place that I have been to that truly understands and accommodates to my injury. I was unable to perform a deadlift or bend over at all because I was so scared to re-injure my hip but the owner/head trainer Gerrick and their physical therapist Din have worked hand and hand with helping me learn proper movement patterns and techniques to prevent further injury. I went from not deadlifting at all to deadlifting 155lbs, which is more than my bodyweight! (In less than 2 months).- The staff is friendly, passionate and very knowledgable in exercise science and movement.- The facility is brand new, clean and easily accessible with plenty of parking in the heart of Downtown Cranford.- It is convenient having a one stop shop for personal training, group classes and physical therapy.- The community they have built is extraordinary, everyone who trains is welcomed to a family and that helps keep everyone accountable. (This was the most important to me).I highly recommend King Strength and Performance especially Gerrick and Din. I am super excited and look forward to what 2019 brings!
I sustained a lower back injury a month prior to joining this gym. I was not only intimidated with a gym like this but also afraid I wouldn’t keep up with certain classes due to the recovery from my injury. Gerrick made me feel comfortable by implementing exercises that substitute the original exercise so that there isn’t as much stress on my lower back. For example, I wouldn’t deadlift with a regular deadlifting bar, as it would be too heavy and poses more risk in injuring my back again. Instead, I would use a kettlebell since it’s lighter and more comfortable for my back to handle.After a month, with the encouragement of Gerrick and one of my friends, I felt more confident with how my back felt. So I decided to try attempting a regular deadlift instead of using a kettlebell. On my first attempt, I was able to go for 5 reps of 100 lbs! I was pretty proud of myself, especially because that was my first ever attempt at a deadlift. A week later, I decided to push myself further, and successfully deadlifted 115 lbs. At this point, I was afraid of going further than that, thinking that I might injure my back again. So that ended up being my max PR at the time. At the end of the month, I wanted to raise my PR even more and ended up doing a PR of 185 lbs! I was surprised I successfully did that.Gerrick and the people here gave me the confidence to step out of my shell and do things I never would have imagined I would do. They helped me overcome my fear of bringing back my injury to do exercises I was reluctant to do and I’m very grateful for that support.
Have been searching for a while now for a gym and personal trainer that wont make me feel intimidated or discouraged. Gerrick and King Strength & Performance were exactly what I needed to put a jump start to my fitness goals. Ive been coming to him for about a month now and its safe to say that I LOVE coming! Every time I come through the door, I feel like family. You might have an impression that this might be a crossfit-esque kind of place- but it really is not. Its different...Just the other day I attended one of his classes and one of the other attendees told me, I was intimidated bc I thought this was going to be a cross-fit kind of place...but its not! I actually really enjoy this...this is different and exactly what I was looking for. That comment speaks for itself.Weirdly enough, I dont dread ever coming in. Currently living in Pway, it is a journey to drive to Cranford to work out...but honestly ITS WORTH IT! I highly recommend Gerrick and this place for anyone who wants to get serious with their fitness goals. He keeps all each and every workout entertaining and different so youll never get bored. He is also certified in so many different fields that I believe he has the knowledge to ensure you the best, maximum results (without injury lol)
