I take care of my terminally ill son and we needed his wheelchair accessible van’s AC fixed. Our son’s lungs are failing and we need ventilation fixed so our son can breathe better. We trusted this place and we wanted to support local businesses. When we took the van in he said with the condenser fixed it should fix the ac problem in the van. We trusted him. We paid $1500.00 after a week the ac stopped working again. We took it back and they found a leak and promised it should work with the leaks fixed. After a week the ac stopped working again. We took it back and they said it could cost another $1200-$1500 to fix the evaporator core in the back because they think the leak is back there. I’m upset because if they couldn’t guarantee to fix it properly the first time… if they couldn’t properly diagnose it but took our money, they’re truly cheating their customers. With these companies it’s truly about the money. It’s not about their customers. There was hardly an apology and he suggested we are welcome to take it elsewhere. I have stayed home to care for my son and money is tight. Why would you suggest we go elsewhere after you took my money but didn’t fix the problem? We will never return here since they cheated us out of $1500. We’ve spent most of my sons life in a hospital! A Dr could never say btw, we took out your heart and replaced it but turns out it’s your lungs. They’d get sued!!!

I made an appt To get my car serviced, and fix my right low beam. The jobs were done, in a timely fashion. Everyone was courteous, and in a wink, my car was done. They also gave my car a thorough inspection finding 2 things that needed to get done. This was my cars second visit to Carlson auto for routine servicing, and I will be back because I know these guys know their jobs and do it well!

I got quotes from about 6 shops in the area to do rear hub bearings (already had the parts) he gave me actual labor price even though it took longer than expected. The owner is a great and honest guy. I recommend this shop.

As a young woman, it can be hard to find a mechanic who is respectful and completely honest with me when it comes to fixing my car. However, the customer service is phenomenal at Carlson Auto and I couldnt be happier with the prices. The mechanics are very genuine and straightforward and they always do their best to lower the price for me when possible. :) Its nice to know that I will never be talked down to and will always treated equally. I live in the Twin Cities now and I still plan on bringing my car to Cottage Grove when I need to!

I brought my 2007 Camry in for tire installation, brakes and a surprise strut replacement on on 05/21/2021. I have nothing but praise for Carlson. From start to finish it was actually an enjoyable experience. Steve kept me totally informed and was such a pleasure. He is truly a gem! Dave took me home to south St. Paul and came to get me to bring me back and was very professional and personable. My car was ready exactly when I was told it would be. Carlson Auto is the absolute best! If they quotes you a price, that is what they charges- no unexpected added fees! He does top quality work with a limited guarantee. I know of no other independent mechanic that does this. He has done many repairs on our old truck and now my truck, which I took to him for wheel bearings on both rear wheels. Great service! Since I was only in town for the weekend and found myself with a flat tire I asked that they do whatever they needed to so that I could get my car that same day for the most reasonable price. Initially I thought that they would need to replace the tire but they went out of their way to try a patch first and it totally worked. I was so thankful that they went out of their way to try the least expensive fix rather than just selling me tires, which they could have totally done. Great integrity and honesty!! Steve was my go-to guy during this encounter and I have to say that he was a rock star.

I’m so happy with these guys!! I think Carlson in Cottage Grove does so well simply because people learn how honest they are!! They thrive off of honesty not dishonesty. I needed my caliper bolts loosened. They loosened them and spent quite a bit of time but they didn’t even ask for a penny! Another time with our Acadia, rather than charging an arm and a leg, they advised us to take it to the dealer as it’ll likely be covered under our warranty. They could have completely taken advantage of the situation but instead they chose honesty and integrity. I’ll always bring my cars to them! Thank you Carlson!

I cant recommend this place highly enough. I was referred by AAA. I had a major engine repair as well as some maintenance like oil change, spark plugs, and serpentine belt. The engine repair was an enormous job. They gave me a quote up front which was very fair and I agreed to pay it. When I picked up the car, the bill was $100 less than the quote I agreed to. I guess they finished faster than anticipated. They could have kept the bill the same as we agreed on, but they were honest and only charged the minimum for the work they did. Not only that, but they were done the very next day. They basically performed open heart surgery on my car who was a goner and brought him back to life, better than ever, in less than 24 hours. Add all that up with their professionalism and kindness, and its a winning combination. I dont foresee having future maintenance and repair done anywhere else. Do yourself a favor. Check out these guys FIRST!!!

I had to bring my 2005 Chevy 2500 in for a Check over after I used 4wd while towing a bobcat through mud on the farm, after about 30-40 minutes of having it there I had revived a call about my pitman and idler arm being loose and my transfer case had a crack in it, these guys were very honest with me and were able to have a new transfer case and pitman, idler arm installed along with a fresh alignment and I was back on the farm using the truck the next day, they were very specific and detailed as to why my transfer case had failed and even offered to show me where exactly it had failed they had the truck up and running within 24 hours and the alignments even better than when I had been driving it before, I can’t recommend these guys enough for anything! Thank you Dave, Steve for helping me get the truck back on the road, I will certainly be returning for anything any of my vehicles may need in the future!

I used to deal with Carlson in maplewood, they were awesome. Cottage grove charged me $1900 and didnt even fix my problem. They just looked for things to make more money on. I had to bring it back and it was another $500. I wish I still lived by the maplewood store. They were fair. Stay away from Cottage Grove Carlson.

My whole family takes their vehicles here. These guys are super honest and will tell you when you need to go to the dealership for something specific. They wont just charge you hours for something they cant do. He can work on almost anything. Oil changes are super quick. They dont add a million things you dont need on the bill.I have been here at least on 10 separate occasions and I have not been let down once. Great fair pricing and very good work. He always shows the parts he took out and then where he replaced them in the car.Great people, great work, will continue going back

I had to have my vehicle towed to Carlson after my engine overheated. They were incredibly professional and were able to look at and repair my vehicle at a reasonable. They notified me of some major repairs that needed to be made and were very straight forward with their pricing. My vehicle is now running better than ever! Everyone I spoke to was kind and had no problem explaining every step along the way. They are incredible, and I will definitely be returning to Carlson for any future repairs.

This place is great. Ive come here multiple times now with two separate cars and theyve always been honest about what my cars needed. Several times, Ive come to them for a second opinion after the dealer recommended hundreds of dollars worth of repairs. The guys at LFA have always been truthful about what work actually needs to be done and saved me a ton of money. Recently, the dealer told me I needed an alignment on an almost new car (among other things). I couldnt believe it and brought it to Love Field Auto for their opinion. I have no reason to disbelieve them when they tell me the car is fine. My bill from the dealer, which was $600+, was brought down to $53.Similarly, last year I asked them their opinion on whether or not I should keep my volkswagen. They easily could have told me that its a nice little car with a lot of miles left in it (it hadnt even hit 100,000). Instead, they were honest and advised me to get rid of it while it still had some value, noting some heavy internal wear-and-tear. A less honest mechanic might have encouraged me to keep the car because they could profit off of all the maintenance it would be needing.I recommend these guys to all of my friends. Theyre the only auto repair shop Ive ever visited where I automatically go with their recommendations, no questions asked, instead of calling my dad first to see what he thinks actually needs to be done.

Incredible customer service! My LR4 died On a Sunday while we were visiting from out-of-state. We got it to their parking lot and left a message. They returned my call on Monday morning and were able to fix the problem, and a few other things I added, in a day. I had my rear U joints replaced 2 weeks ago. I am out of town this weekend. I just found out the U joints that they just replaced are bad.im stranded over an hour away until Monday.

My husband went in for his alignment appointment. Upon arrival, the young girl at the front desk let me know that they cannot do it due to a vehicle “stuck on the rack.”. She made it seem like he was inconveniencing HER. NO APOLOGIES OR PHONE CALL after he took off work!! We will NEVER recommend this place due to the customer service. If it was handled differently, we may have understood. We understand things “happen”... But now, a poor review and taking business elsewhere!!! Good customer service goes a LONG way....

I called day of explaining the problem. They asked me to drop off my vehicle whenever I had time today. Once I did, they figured out the problem right away and got it done same day. Reasonably priced, great service!

I went to Carlson Auto a couple of weeks ago and had the best experience at an auto repair shop! I went to get an oil change and brakes as well as have them look at the battery and possible leak. I dropped the vehicle off at 8:15 am without an appointment and they called me back by 10:00 with a quote. They said my battery was fine, the leak was water drainage from the exhaust, and that I only needed the rear brakes replaced. They could have replaced all 4 brakes and the battery if they wanted to be dishonest, but they only fixed what needed to be fixed and had the vehicle ready the next morning. Also, the front desk person, I think her name was Dani, was excellent. She was very knowledgeable on vehicles and parts! My car has 3 possible rotors for the rear brakes and instead of guessing which one was correct, she ordered all 3 so that they could repair my vehicle and get it back to me in the shortest time possible. The price was also very reasonable. Great customer service and communication! We will be using them as our primary auto repair going forward!

I have an older car with low miles, which recently started running rough. I did a little work myself and figured out what the issue was, since I have a tough time trusting auto repair estimates... too many bad stories out there. I talked to Josh, who told me what he thought the issue was, even though I didnt tell him any more than the symptoms.I believe in shopping locally, and he passed my first test. I dropped the car off overnight and got a call first thing in the morning with a complete diagnosis. Josh worked with me on what I could afford and even let me know about finance options (No interest for 6 months - NICE!)I got the work done that I could afford, it was done quickly (before noon!) and it was done courteously. The best auto shop Ive experienced! My 98 Honda had a solenoid leak, really bad. Dani called within 2 hours and explained everything down to a tee! Today brought it in for squeaky brake, turned out a rock had somehow gotten caught in there. They were honest that it wasnt something that needed to be replaced and we appreciate it very much!

I was down in Cottage Grove for work and had gotten a puncture in my tire. I searched for a tire place and saw the usual, Tires Plus, Midas, etc. But the reviews for Carlson Auto were VERY good. I figured Id stop in and see if they could take care of it quick. I definitely picked the right place. It was a very small job for them, but given how busy they were and the fact that they still got me right in, got it fixed, and had me out the door in less than 15 minutes, proves this place really cares about their customers, and is willing to go the extra mile. I will definitely recommend them to friends and colleagues!!

I took a flat tire in for a plug 45 minutes before they closed. I figured that it wouldnt be fixed until the next day because multiple vehicles were currently being worked on. To my surprise the tire was fixed within 20 minutes. Brought the tire home and there seemed to be a leak in a different area that wasnt where the initial puncture was. I brought the tire back the next day and without any questions they looked at it again and fixed it. There are other mechanics in the area to claim to be honest. Dont waist your time with those guys even if you have a coupon. Dont look any further. Carlson Auto is hands down the best in the area!

If I can remove the one-star I would, took my car in to have an issue looked at, I was quoted a ridiculous price, I called another shop for the same issue I was quoted $200 less. Not sure where this place is getting their pricing but sounds like highway robbery to me.

We took in a Ford Mustang after the driver side mirror was accidentally damaged while backing out of the garage. They got a new mirror and put it on the same day! They had me in and out in 45min with detailed items to review before making a decision on whether or not to buy it. I also had an alignment done same day in less than an hour as well, this is so rare to find these days. If youre looking for a great experience, head over to Carlson. Also, completely ignore any 1 or 2 star reviews, some people simply cant be pleased. Trevor, and the other girl working at the counter were extremely nice, easy to talk to, very helpful, and answered a bunch of additional questions with a smile. If I lived closer, this would be my exclusive auto repair/maintenance shop!

I have had my vehicles to Carlson Auto a number of times. First thing you will notice is how nice the shop and waiting room are. Then you will see all the credentials of the employees on the wall. They are all committed to doing the repair right the first time.
