While I had to wait a few weeks for an appointment, literally the only downside, this place was incredible! Check in was super easy, they were running on time, my pup made it in to see the vet almost immediately, and I got a call from the doctor within 15 minutes. My pup has been struggling with the same issue for over 8 months and I’ve taken him to see four other vets. No one could give me an answer but Doctor Okine knew almost immediately. She didn’t take advantage of the situation financially, opting not to do the ultrasound scheduled. She spoke with me for 20 minutes and answered every…single…question thoroughly and patiently.I couldn’t remember a medication so she sent me a text and allowed me to send her a pic of the medication when I got home to be sure. We have a solid plan and I can’t say enough how relieved and impressed I am. If only I came here 7 months ago!!! While I live all the way in Oakland, I’ll be bringing all my pups here from now on. Just wow!!!!

I dont know why, but throughout this pandemic it seems impossible to get emergency vet service in a timely manner. Almost every other emergency clinic in the East Bay had 5+ hour wait times, or simply told me they were at capacity and no longer accepting new emergencies! So it was such a relief when SAGE said they not only had time for me and my cat, but said we could come right away! The doctors and staff were all very kind, patient, and communicative during a very stressful time. They will definitely be my 1st call for future emergencies (god forbid!)

My dog was vomiting all day. We brought him to Sage and they said he would be fine! That they saw no obstruction and whatever was in his stomach would pass easily. We brought him home, and at 3 years old my Charles died in his sleep. Later that morning as we were taking his body to Bishop Ranch (which is ten times better than Sage) Sage called us saying that the doctor DID find an obstruction and we would need to take him in. They called us after 24 hours saying he was in danger of dying, when he was already dead. Terrible experience. It cost me the life of my dog. Nobody should go here! EVER.

I was leaving town the next day for a month when my mini-dachshund had another medical emergency that made me decide it was time to have her put to sleep. Punkin would have been 16 in exactly one month from the morning I took her into Sage. The staff and doctor were very comforting and kind. I now have a small wooden box containing Punkins ashes, a beautiful poem with her paw print on the paper, and they gave me the leash shed been wearing. So special. Thank you, Sage.❤️🐕

This place deserves better rating than what it gets. Where else can you find 24/7 emergency services for your pet, under a group of great professionals who give your animal good care when needed? If you think this is bad service, try finding help at any of the private veterinary clinics in the area, where your pet has to be a regular patient, or else wait patiently for at least two weeks before they can see him/her. SAGE has proven to have an honest, straight forward, hard-working, well-intentioned staff who have done the best when I reached them with my sick cats in the midst of this difficult time. If this is not enough for you, there are plenty of other fancy and exclusive pet care centers available. Good luck.

Our 11 year-old calico Caramel was diagnosed with high grade GI lymphoma back in October 2019. I drove her to Sage in Concord from Oakland nearly every week for 5 months for a combination of chemo treatments and follow ups. During this difficult period, I felt extremely taken care of by Dr. Kidd who was communicative, transparent and available, the vet tech staff (Frank, Nicole, Katie), as well as Katrin at reception and frankly, by every single employee who ever answered the phone when I called. When a prescription refill request was accidentally missed on their end, they offered to cover the rush shipping. At one point, Caramel also had to undergo a blood transfusion given that her red blood cell count had dropped too low and despite this being a scary affair, the staff did a great job.In late February, Caramels kidneys began to also experience acute failure and the staff taught us how to do subcutaneous fluids at home. During what would end up being her final scheduled checkup, we discussed our options with Dr. Kidd and weighed all of the varying factors - her prognosis, the lab results from that day, her quality of life at home. We had always planned to say goodbye in-home, but while discussing our options there, she seemed to tell us it was okay to let her pass on. We made the impossible decision to say goodbye that same afternoon, and trusted the staff there to provide the same compassionate care theyd been providing these past several months. They moved us to a quiet, darkened room with couches and then brought our little girl in wrapped in a blanket with an IV. Dr. Kidd made the final injections with us, checked her heartbeat, and we stayed in the room with her for several minutes after shed passed.Later that week, we received a wonderful surprise in the mail - a copy of a beautiful little book called For Every Cat an Angel along with hand-written notes from Dr. Kidd and his staff.I would highly recommend Sage for any pet parent dealing with a cancer diagnosis.

Most overdue review ever!! My dog, unfortunately got some bad luck, and has had a ton of stomach issues and leg issues as well. our primary vet didn’t pay much attention to it, and due to it being untreated it resulted in a couple sage visits. After YEARS of my dog vomiting 7-8 times a month and having our primary vet claim it was normal, sage doctors took one look at her chart and referred us to internal medicine. She was then diagnosed and appropriately treated for her disease and is doing amazing. My dog also has a luxating patella which is getting treated by the amazing surgery department! Thank you SAGE. You have saved my dogs life truly. Your team is amazing and I know that’s a popular opinion amongst the community. Thank you for all that you do!

So I have had a lot of vet issues this last year. I adopted a German Shepherd Mix puppy in May of 2020. I brought him to his vet (Banfield WC) two days after I adopted him for his first check up. He got a clean bill of health. Low and behold, two days later he was up all night vomiting. I brought him to Sage because they were open early, and it turns out he has a severe case of Parvo and two parasites. My vet would not take him because of the contagiousness of Parvo so Sage was now my full time Vet (so much for that premium plan Banfield). Everyone at Sage was amazing. It was an excruciating process for me, with a lot of IV bags, anti nausea shots, special food I pretty much had to force feed the little guy, paired with a lot of crying. My nurses and vets were available 24/7 and always took him the second I felt like he was getting worse. He survived and I chalk it up to Sage. Fast forward six months, my dogs gets attacked and gets a swollen eye. Once again I contact my vet, they can not squeeze him in for three weeks- and I am obviously not going to wait for that. Sage got him in right away, got his eye cleaned out and treated, and he was better in about a week with his meds. The vet kept me calm and helped me keep the price down because this poor dog has already cost me quite a lot of money. Sage is pricey but you have to remember, they are there for emergencys. Id suggest getting pet insurance if youre worried about cost, but they are reliable, gentle, skilled, and kind. They see people on some of the worst days and work crazy hours to make sure our pets are well cared for. 100% go to them if youre in need of an ER.

Paid $1200.00 for a failed attempt to remove a foxtail from my puppys nose. They did however perform several useless tests including a $400.00 X-ray that did nothing to confirm his nasal passage blockage. I was required to authorize and prepay a cost estimate between $800.00 and $1200.00 dollars before the failed treatment. When the failed treatment/extraction only totaled $800.00 they performed a useless X-ray to maximum the cost. After their complete failure to help our puppy, they recommended a $3,000 video inspection, are you kidding me. How many innocent puppies have been put to sleep because of the outrageous costs extorted by outfits like this one? They are leveraging the love people have for their dogs and would cut off their right arm to save them. I think its time for reform and cost control regulation so dogs can have a fighting chance at surviving their medical issues! By the way, they will hold your dog hostage behind locked doors until the bill is paid.

This vet is trash, my girlfriend took our dog there and they didn’t help us. They charged us over $450 for essentially nothing as our dog is still sick. When I called to see if we can bring him back for the same issue they told us they would charge a reduced reconsultation fee. Why on earth would there be another visit fee if you didn’t do your job right the first time and give the appropriate tests. Obviously we’d pay for the right test and treatment but Sage doesn’t offer that. They want to do everything possible to charge you. Recommend anybody else. Money hungry leeches that don’t care about animals, just their rent. Such a shame.

I watched vet techs wander in and out with no urgency, I saw two food deliveries while my dog was laying in my backseat uncomfortable and dying. They told me when I called ahead they would take her in within an hour because she was so sick. That was a lie. On top of that while I was in the room waiting for the vet to come in to euthanize her I could hear him having a conversation outside the door with the sign up asking people to please be quiet. I wish the doctor had been more direct in the fragile state my pup was in. I never received the bloodwork results. I typically look up out of range. Maybe then I would have understood the seriousness of the issue and my baby would be here. Yes it’s a lot of money, but the emphasis should be on what the dog needs. It was more a weighing of financial options. But I thought they were both viable. Not really. Maybe I’d been better to wait til morning and see a vet that could talk with me and explain. I do appreciate them very much, but I think it was the worst outcome and preventable. It’s on me more...she was my love.

Instead, I was told everything looked good, and the vet explained what was happening and why.He asked about pain meds and since she had run out that morning, sent us home with some (she had knee surgery 4 days prior and take it from one who had it 4 months ago, it is very painful! Four days of pain relief is not enough !).I felt we were in very caring and capable hands AND I couldnt believe how reasonable they are were, for this area! They also give a senior discount. The whimpering and crying and generally acting scared and panicked. I wasnt that upset with sage at this point because they did help him and they are a busy hospital.A few days after the visit my dog starts sneezing and has a runny nose, the next day my other dogs start sneezing. I schedule a appointment with my normal vet take my dog in and he is now afraid to go into the vet so thats pretty cool, but other than that I find out my dog has caught a virus and my other dogs in my house have the same virus now. So...its the day before Thanksgiving and my kitty is getting worse in terms of breathing. With Covid affecting things so much I didnt want to take a chance shed be better by nightfall. Our usual go-to in Berkeley was full. Next usual go-to was also full. Kittys regular vet cant help because they may have their own personal Covid exposure (ack!). Called Sage and they said theyd get her in. These guys did a terrific job. They were upbeat and kind. They communicated well: ensured I knew how long it may be until kitty was seen, then low long it may be until she was treated, then how long it would be until kitty was released to me. All in all this took place from about noon to 7:30 PM. It was up to me to go home (about 30 minute drive each way) or find bathrooms (cruised nearby shopping center) but they made sure I knew that in advance, too.It is weird not to talk to the vet in person -- harder to follow -- but the vet was patient and explained the options clearly. He did not push anything on me, gave a low and high estimate and explained the range. As it turned out, kitty needed the lower-end stuff. And when I saw the final bill it was even lower than I expected.Vets and staff are under lots of stress these days. The whole team at Sage did an absolutely wonderful job of not showing it.

Read the reviews if you can. I couldnt as I had an emergency. One review said they werent impressed with the quality of service -- I have no doubt. More like my experience, though, another review said they had no heart and cared more about the money than the puppy. Spot on.I called up with an emergency as my usual clinic was closed for the night and was advised to bring the dog in. I loaded my puppy into the car and drove across town to the clinic. When I arrived they wanted to fill out an intake form before even taking the puppy in for care. That seems a ridiculous obstacle in the case of an emergency and I complained. I was told it was the law. Ive looked at the law and there is no such law. The CA Veterinary Medical Board Minimum Standards Regulations talks about the Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship in section 2032.1. It boils down to my providing consent and the doctor being qualified. It doesnt require (and Id bet advises against in emergency situations) collecting all of my information prior to examining the pet.The clinic cares more about getting my billing information than seeing my pet. Why not just let me swipe my card and go? Id much prefer that. Whats worse, after driving all that way and being told after I arrived that I needed to call in and provide all that information (couldnt have asked me to do it in-transit?), the doctor came on and let me know they were still with pets thatd arrived 3 hours earlier and there would be a multi-hour delay in seeing my pet. Why not tell me that up front before I drove there? Its not like the clinic is so large that they dont know whats happening. Dont tell me to bring in the pet if youre busy!Maybe they said bring it in because they just wanted to develop that relationship with me (I cant wait for the spam calls, texts, and emails Im sure are on their way). Maybe they figured it wouldnt matter if I waited, who cares about the pet as long as they get the business. More damage with longer waits means bigger medical bills, right? Maybe they were so unhappy with my complaining about their process and the lies they told about it being required by law that they didnt want to deal with me further. Sure, thats great bedside manner, youd rather turn away a sick puppy than eat crow for being called out on your no rush emergency services package that puts billing addresses at the top of the priority list and, oh, maybe well get to your pet later. If you can avoid them, do. Theyre one of few emergency clinics around, so you may not be able to do so. Dont let them treat you like theyre doing you a favor, though. They arent. The favor wouldnt be to charge you and prioritize billing, the favor would be to close down and make room for a business that employs people who actually care about the pet and trust that the billing can get settled later (or even DURING). You know, people who could pick up the phone and say: were swamped right now, but you should definitely take your pup to one of the other emergency clinics! How hard is that?

I brought my dog into the Concord location around 6:30pm on 12/14 after his leg was stepped on and injured. My dog was clearly in pain and limping when I brought him in. The medical team called me and informed me that there was nothing wrong with my dog and he was walking normally. This didnt sit right with me. The staff did not offer to take x rays and did not prescribe any medication for the pain/swelling. When I brought my dog home he was limping and showing clear signs of pain. His hock was also very swollen. The next morning 12/15 I brought my dog to Pacific Veterinary in Lafayette for a second opinion. X rays were done and my dog was sent home with pain medication and anti inflammatories. X rays showed a possible rupture of my dogs long mcl and a surgery consultation was set up. Yesterday 12/17 my dog went in for his surgery consult where stressed x rays were taken and the diagnosis was confirmed. This morning 12/18 my dog received surgery to repair the ruptured ligament. I am very upset and disappointed that I was brushed off so quickly by the staff at Concord Sage. Luckily I sought out a second opinion and my dog got the care he needed but I worry about other peoples pets. Not everyone is in the financial position to seek other opinions. I do not want other peoples pets to suffer due to a lack of thoroughness and overall unprofessionalism.

My dog snapped her dew claw in half and they offered to have me see just a nurse which would be cheaper and if the nurse could not fix it then they would bring a doctor in. I really appreciated this honesty and saving me a lot of money. I ended up playing just $33 for the nurses visit. And second, I did not wait an obnoxious amount of time...I got there around 2:15 and was out by 3:30...not bad for an emergency room. Hannah our nurse was so sweet and you could tell she really cared. She was awesome! The place was so well staffed for a Saturday as well. I have already recommended them to so many people. I can’t help but share this unpleasant experience with our visit to Sage Emergency Hospital tonight. Not recommended due to unprofessionalism and lack of compassion. Given our dogs situation feeling unwell and covid restrictions, we do understand a possibility of waiting. 2-3 hour wait time is what they said we would have to wait. After an 1.5hr, a staff calls me letting me know options to go to another hospital around the area due to their capacity limit and understaffed. I chose to stay and wait after reaching out to the other 2 hospitals they had recommended because of the wait time being 2-3 hrs as well. I called the sage staff in letting them know our decision because we didn’t want to take our chance of driving and being turned away. I spoke to another staff that came outside to check in where we are at with the list.. she then said it’s now a 5hr wait due to capacity, staff, and emergency. I do understand and was trying to figure out my options.. if I should stay or leave not knowing if my pets will ever be seen. We decided to take our chance to go to Pacific Vet in Lafayette. Staff was great. Greeted us right away. Handed us the registration. After 20min or so, Sage Hospital calls and said they can take our pets now. I had let them know we were at Pacific but we will be there asap.. approximately 10 minutes away. We arrived at the parking at Sage and called to let them know we are back. Staff said “I’m putting you back on the list”. I told the staff that I was called to come back. She then instructed to wait. 45minutes in, still waiting until some came out to discharge a dog. I asked about when will our pets be seen. She said there’s a wait 2-3 hrs. I told her what had happened.. We came back from another hospital after being deferred. She went back inside and came back with a different story. I then asked for the manager because of the inconsistency of communication. Guess who called me? The doctor. Dr. Jason—-. He said “ I will not get into the middle of the miscommunication.. I will rather not accept your pets.. since you mentioned that you’re unhappy” your pets are stable so I recommend you go to the other hospital”. Wow! Talk about behavior and conduct of a professional.. refusing to treat the unwell pets, is that acceptable? How can you diagnose my pets to be stable without seeing them but defer them to the other hospital? I hope to talk to management about this. This was very unpleasant situation that could have been better communicated.

Too busy to notice our cat was dying. Supposedly an ER doctor did an initial check of our ill cat and told us he was not critical and would need to wait 3-5 hours to be seen. In the meantime we took him to our primary vet who was astonished Sage did not treat him immediately. We could not save him. We put him to sleep only 90 minutes after Sage discarded him.

We took our dog into this emergency vet because she got sick in the evening. She was not able to stand without falling. When we got there a vet tech came out to assess our dog and make sure she was stable. After that assessment, they took her into the building unfortunately we couldnt go in because of COVID guidelines. They took our information over the phone and said a veterinarian would call and update. We received a call from Dr. Jason Dombrosky he told us what he thought was wrong with her and told us his treatment plan. Which included some blood tests and X-rays for the cost of $1,450. Before doing anything I asked him if he could check her ears as she has a history of ear infections. He began to get rude with me and told me he didnt feel it was the ears. As I was asking him questions he rudely said, Can you let me finish!!!! He continued talking and when he was done he didnt even ask if I had any questions and just hung up. They called later with the estimate that we approved. Beware of there tactics!!!!! They charged me $71 just for taking the blood pressure!!! We had no other choice but to accept what they were saying as we needed our dog treated. Finally, the doctor called us once again and told us his diagnosis he again had an attitude and was just a jack***. He is the main reason I am writing this review he is a heartless, cold, excuse of a human being. Later that week when I followed up with my awesome veterinarian he told me the Xrays they took were not even needed they took Xrays of the abdomen, not the skull. Those Xrays cost me $652!!! They are outrageous!!! Thank God that this doctor does not work with humans because he would have already gotten the sh** kicked out of him. His lack of compassion is sickening. When people take their pets in they are scared and upset because they dont know whats wrong with there animals. This mans lack of compassion does not help the situation!!! However, people have no choice. I hope to God I will never have to go back to this veterinarian. This dude should be a lawyer, not a veterinarian.

Ive never been treated so terrible in my life, and to think during an emergency. The doctor wanted me to pay over $500 in test before he even spent 2 minutes with my puppy. Then they held my puppy hostage when I told them I did not want any more test. I paid them $221 for having my puppy for 3 minutes. These people had no heart they cared more about the money then my puppy. I pray to God they didnt do anything evil to my puppy while they had him hostage. I really hate this clinic, Dr. Jason Dombrosky was the doctor who showed little compassion. I am glad I was with my family and they were all witnesses otherwise it would be unbelievable to tell someone else.

Sage Concord Veterinary Services is the best ER and specialized services we have ever used for our little ones. We just lost our oldest 15 years old miniature Schnauzer Hannah over battleling cancer for over 8 months. Hannah was under oncologist care and crossed the rainbow on 08/23/19. Throughout her treatment and on her last day under Sagess doctors and nurses care, she always had the best care possible. The amazing services isnt only what makes us so thankful to Sage team. They not only offer the best care but they have compassion, and understanding of the owners pain about losing a loved one. My husband and I received a book with beautiful words from nurses and doctors plus beautiful flowers with a sympathy card of our loss. Those simple and thoughtful acts of love speaks by themselves. We strongly recommend Sage for your needs. Hannah will always be loved. Losing her was very hard but our hearts are in peace knowing she was treated with love, respect and dignity. Thanks Sage doctors, nurses and all team from the bottom of our heart.

Clean, modern facility with a caring staff. Our dog was kept overnight and the staff made us feel as though our boy was being well cared for. The doctor had great bedside manner and explained everything, however the folks explaining the billing are less than knowledgeable and kinda look at you like what do you want me to do about it, it is what it is. Ask for someone to explain the charges in detail. I had to ask them to write in my file not to do anything outside the estimate without my approval as I was charged more than discussed.

Very expensive...but price isnt ever a thought during an emergancy. I unfortunately lost my pup but the cremation was nicely done. Her ashes are in a well made wooden box with her name on the front and I also received her paw print and a poem. Sad to see her to but they were helpful. Only wish they would have been a little more informative about pricing before agreeing to pay especially if she wasnt responding..

Its taken a year to write this review as I am still very angry about the entire experience, and wanted to ensure that my review was honest and factual to our circumstances. My cat had a Urinary Tract Infection that had failed to be diagnosed by our family vet. He was very, very sick and close to death when we rushed him to Sage. What followed was the most disgraceful, deceitful and predatory business practice Ive ever had the misfortune to witness. They looked at him and told us that we had to pay the estimated treatment bill of $2,000 before they would start work. They wouldnt even make him comfortable as we scrambled around trying to scrape together over $2,000 out of nowhere. But wait - it gets WORSE!My 8 year old son was crying as he thought his beloved pet was going to die (the Sage staff didnt even have the courtesy to tell us in private) and the receptionist gave him a leaflet about taking out credit at an extremely inflated payback rate and told him to get Mommy to do this so his Kitty didnt die! The bill ended up being more than the initial payment, and they wouldnt release him until they had full payment, going as far to threaten to cease treatment when we refused to pay without a detailed breakdown of costs (for something that was in fact a billing error on their part!!)A year later, a move overseas and our cat got sick again. This time our vet, with the same high tech practice and basic business model treated him immediately without demanding upfront guessed payments. Their treatment was far superior, they also treated our children with care and consideration and the entire cost was less than a QUARTER of what Sage cost. Please, avoid using this practice. This predatory practice where animals are refused treatment without upfront full payment shows a clear lack of empathy, morals and basic human decency. I certainly dont want people perpetuating that behaviour to take care of my beloved family member.

I took my pup to Sages because he had blood in his stool and a skin infection. The staff was friendly. It took almost an hour and a half to see the doctor. Once the doctor looked at my pup, her diagnosis was that he had dog acne. This is after I mentioned it looked like white heads. Well my little pups intestinal issue wasnt addressed and no x-ray done. So $300 later, I was sent home with a prescription for a flea collar and some generic dog antibiotics. My dog still has the blood in his stool and now I cant afford to get any more treatment for him. I feel very taken advantage of. I know for the same amount of money I could have got him the proper care. I truly hope nothing more happens to my little doggie because of a misdiagnosis. I would highly recommend going somewhere else.

My expierence with Sage was awesome even though i ended up having to put my dog down. The staff was compassionate and treated my son and I and our dog of 11 years with respect and care. The ending bill was much lower then we expected. The doctor was honest and caring. They did not attempt to make us feel guilty and try to get us to do more for our dog then needed (which i have expierenced countless times with other vets) They did not allow our dog to suffer any longer then needed. I brought my poor puppy in with a broken pelvis, due to being hit my a car going about 30mph. she was still able to stand and walk a little. They told me if I wasn’t able to afford the $7000 surgery ( I wasn’t eligible for a payment plan) that it would be in the dogs best interest to be put down. The way they had said it was rude, uncaring, and completely inconsiderate. They were expecting me to be okay with putting her down right then and there. I decided to bring her home with pain meds, antibiotics, and anti inflammatories & with enough crate rest she was back to her old self running around walking perfectly and happy as ever. It’s been about 4 months and I am so very happy I brought her home instead of putting her down.

They’re written by idiotic people who are being completely unreasonable: complaints about the expense of taking proper care of a pet (here’s a crazy idea: get pet insurance or don’t have a pet if you’re unwilling or unable to manage the expense of having one!) or complaints about how they were treated “so unfairly” after they refused to show up on time for an appointment (newsflash, people: your lateness impacts other patients, who manage to show up on time!).Anyway, ignore the bad reviews; they’re all about the owners’ issues and not SAGE’s.

This is was my co consultation....the vet nurse took him out of the room so that the Dr. could examine my dog and his tumor(aboit 5 min). Waited 8 minutes after the dog was returned to us for the Dr. to come in. Then she asked me what my vet did...uh you have the report, right? In the end the surgeon didnt tell me anything more than my regular vet told me. She was more than happy to give me a quote for $1200 for another biopsy. Seriously?? We spent a total of 10 minutes with the Suregon and she basically said no more than my vet did. So why on earth did I have to pay $150 for that? I was not impressed with the quality of service that u received for what I paid. A waste of time and money. Extremely overpriced!!

Dr. Tracy Hardin and her team took great care of Ziggy, my cat. This after the receptionist already told me to sit down while they fix the appointment, but I guess the vet didnt want to. Our usually very healthy four year old dog started getting extremely sick off and on for 5 months. We took her to 3 different veterinary clinics and no one could figure out what was wrong. Finally we brought her to sage and the doctors were able to correctly diagnose her with an autoimmune disease. I am so thankful for the doctors here. When our pup had to stay overnight, Dr. Wong called us periodically from th ED with updates. Once we brought the dog into the specialist clinic, we were seen by Dr. Okine who even called us on her day off to let us know about blood test results. I normally dont review places, but felt compelled to do so with sage. I am very glad we came here.

We have an eight-month old miniature labradoodle that, seemingly out of nowhere, began repetitive vomiting and showed extreme lethargy, a very sick little girl. Arriving at Sage at 7:00 PM, she was diagnosed within an hour and an aggressive therapy regimen begun to combat anaphylactic shock from, apparently, an unseen wasp, bee or spider bite. An overnight stay, blood transfusion, and drug applications over the next two week then followed. Dr. Martin del Campo saved Gracies life. I thought the responsiveness and expertise were above reproach, the cost entirely reasonable given the circumstances. It is a comfort for us to have their facility nearby for emergency care.

They would not sell the product to me without bringing my rabbit in which would be a minimum $110.00. This is not a prescription item and luckily I bought it at Berkeley Dog and Cat, a more ethical provider of animal care. Withholding the critical care to make a buck is completely unethical.

SAGE is all about getting your money and not giving you the service that the price affords. After many visits, and thousands of dollars, I will never bring an animal here, and urge others to avoid as well. We brought our dog in for a nasal problem. I personally saw Dr. B twice, and both times, she came in, talked for a few minutes, said she was going to go check on something, left the room, and never came back. The assistant would come in and I would ask to see Dr. B again and the assistant would inform me that she was seeing another appointment. Had known she would not be coming back, I would have asked more questions, but because she said she would be back, gee, I thought she would be coming back! What an incredibly rude and unprofessional slight! So, each time I paid $500 for a 10 minute visit, not including test fees and other costs, only to be dumped! To add to this offense, during our first visit she informed us that our dog likely had a nasal fungus, that left untreated would eat into her brain and kill her. They took a blood test and said they would call in the next few days with the results. A few days pass, no call. A week passes, still no call. So I call, and speak to the assistant who informs me that the test is a culture test and that it will take weeks to get the results. When I tell her I am worried about the fungus eating into my dogs brain she carelessly tells me if I am that worried about it, I should bring my dog back for another expensive visit. I ask to speak to Dr. B. Well, as it turns out, Dr. B only works 3 days a week and wont be able to speak to me until the following week. I wait, multiple stress ridden days, to finally recieve a call from Dr. B at which point she informs me that no, it was not a culture test, it was a blood test, and they had the results all along and failed to call me or even give me the correct information! Now, frantic and worried about my dogs brain, I opt for the $2,000 CT scan to determine whether or not there is a fungus eating her brain! Thankfully there is not. By this time, however, our other dog is showing symptoms and we start this whole carasol ride again, another brief visit with Dr. B who ducks out, another round of tests, which the assistant told us we would have the results of in 24 hours, another week without a call or any show of concern whatsoever. We take the dogs to the UC Davis School of Veterinary Care. We have another CT scan. It cost $734, more than half of what SAGE charged. We receive excellent care at Davis. The staff is friendly, concerned, and communicative. I urge you to avoid SAGE, they have invested in expensive equipment and only look to profit from that investment, they are not concerned with the wellbeing of your animals. It is a soulless practice.
