We had taken in a cat recently who ended up being in bad shape. They helped us give him a chance at life. Unfortunately he passed away but Dr. Gray, Dr. Donovan and everyone we interacted with and that helped us was unbelievably supportive and sweet and knowledgeable. I highly recommend taking your pets here for any emergency needs. I can’t thank them enough for helping us give this sweet boy a chance.
Hello let me put a review here of this place that we took our 16-year-old beautiful boy Chester the cat. Wow this place is unbelievable. So much compassion and understanding and we never felt rushed or anything. We lived in Nassau our entire lives and just moved to Suffolk county recently. We know our cat had some mobility issues and over the last week or two it got a lot worse. We knew of no local that so someone recommended this emergency vet in commack.Anyway when we went there Dr Donovan explained everything to us and we never felt rushed or anything. Tech Veronica was great and kind and understanding. Assistance Amanda was so helpful and answered all of our questions.Ultimately we had to put our boy to sleep and price-wise it was very fair we thought. The best part of this if there can be a best part is when we went to pick our boy up a few days later they had him in a beautiful little cardboard casket with blankets and they gave us a paw print and a lock of his hair. Wow unbelievable. They also kept him there for three nights while we had to get a hold of in our yard since we wanted to bury him. Highly recommend this place.
The whole team took really good care of my cat Willow. it wasn’t long until I started to notice the treatment plan they put her on was making her feel so much better. I am really grateful for them
I could not say enough nice things about this staff! You can tell how much they truly care about your animal as well as making you feel comfortable. The emergency vet can be very scary for animals and people alike so their kinda demeanor and their gentle manner really help to calm those nerves! Highly recommend!!
This is the best animal care facility I have ever been to. The most compassionate doctors and staff. Brand new beautiful space. Wonderful place!
Everything was great about this place as soon as we got there! The staff is so nice and caring and explains everything. Would highly recommend!
I actually did not have to bring my cat in (thank goodness), but Dr. Donovan was extremely *kind* and *personable* when I called to weigh my options about possible procedures fora my cat who swallowed a ribbon (which did not pass in the feces in 24 hours). Dr. Donovan was very honest and compassionate. She could have easily used fear and urgency to sway me (a vulnerable pet owner obsessed with their pet) into bringing my cat in, but she clearly explained the possibilities to me without pressure. Even though I no longer needed their services (cat finally passed the ribbon in their feces), I truly appreciated the genuineness and kindness of Dr. Donovan. Thank you very much!
Incredibly caring and friendly team! I went there in the middle of the night with my dog and we were greeted with a welcoming team of vet techs who comforted and played with my pup. I came back in the morning and I got the exact warm welcome from the day team! The doctors involved me in the process which I love! Other ERs often take advantage of a desperate pet mom/dad knowing you would do anything for your furry child… not at VEG! They are extremely reasonably priced and they won’t add pointless tests or services to jack up the cost. You can tell that everyone there loves what they do. I was in and out quick, my pup received outstanding service and he got a full blown TLC rub down by the entire staff too! Would highly recommend VEG to everyone in the area!!
The most amazing place you hope you never need. Fast caring people who care about you and your pet. Explained everything and made sure I understood what was happening every step of the way. Having a sick pet over the weekend can be scary because most vets are closed. I am grateful VEG was open and ready to help my cat feel better.
Had to bring in our standard poodle tonight for some quick first aid on his foot - the staff and doctor could not have been kinder, and we were in and out in under half an hour. Definitely made the right choice.
The only complaint I have which really isn’t a complaint because it is an emergency service center… Is the amount of time we had to wait. But I was able to bring my pet directly in after calling. The staff was wonderful Veronica, Milly, Michelle, Melissa and Amanda were quite kind and soothing to a very scared cat. She was assessed and prescribed medication and we were shown how to administer Very kind and caring staff overall. Excellent bedside manner for the patients as well as their parents. Would highly recommend if you are in need to use this facility.
We brought our 5 year old German Shepard for a possible broken paw; and we were extremely satisfied with our experience. The staff and doctor made our baby girl comfortable and took amazing care of her.We highly recommend VEG and so close to home!
Dr. Bianco, Dr. Gray, Tech. Veronica, Assistants Michelle and Leslie went above and beyond to help my dog during an emergency. They were right there as soon as we pulled up, and let us be with our dog the entire time, involved in the entire process which I greatly appreciated. They took their time to explain everything to us, answer our questions and concerns, and were very patient for my dog to feel well enough to head home. Their care and attention and compassion to not only my dog, but to us as well was very meaningful. Although I wish we did not have an emergency, I am very thankful I came here/chose this emergency vet. and I recommend this emergency vet. to others.
Staff was great and Dr. Donovan was comprehensive with her exam and answered all my questions.Waited a bit in the parking lot but this was expected considering it was a holiday. I would definitely recommend VEG for your urgent care needs.
My pup needed immediate attention for an ongoing eye issue hes had for 2+ yrs that was getting worse. My Vet of 10yrs + could not see him for 2 weeks even knowing his condition. My daughter brought him right over to Veterinary Emergency Group who saw him immediately in the middle of the afternoon, diagnosed him and advised us this was something that needs to be taken care of immediately. I am very grateful to Veterinary Emergency Group, they helped us with our pup years ago too. Very kind, attentive and immediate assistance.
Very happy with the way they handled my border collie mix. These people are kind, compassionate and extremely competent. I recommend this wonderful emergency clinic without reservation! So glad that vets like this still exist.
My Boy Kodiak was bitten on a Sunday, took him to VEG other then him needing stitches in his check it was a great experience under the circumstances. From my initial call to the concern and car Dr. Stewart Kodiak received great care. Thank you all for helping Kodiak he is on the mend today because of you all.
Dr. Mio and Jolene and Amanda were amazing. My puppy was sick and throwing up and they took her in right away. They were helpful, they gave her some medication and fluids to make her more comfortable but did not try and over medicate her. You can tell they really love animals and they made her feel so much better. She’s doing better now thanks to their love and care! 🥰
My dog was transferred to VEG by his primary veterinarian and I, without a doubt, could not be more thankful and appreciative for the care and concern they had shown to my dog and myself.I was kept informed during his multiple day stay and was provided a clear understanding of the maladies impacting my beloved pet. They saved his life and, in essence, saved mine.Bedside manners aside, let’s talk value and savings. I have used other emergency clinics on the island and was prepared for a $4500+ bill for services. Let me tell you...HALF THE PRICE! I was STUNNED by how incredible the care was and at the price point we were given. Do not be deterred by the expense when it comes to saving your pets life. VEG made it so affordable and I noticed that they have a credit system in place should you not have the available resources to save your pet.Bottom line: this place gave my dog a second lease on life and I will forever be in debt to the doctors and technicians who work tirelessly to save critters like him. You will be in excellent hands with VEG!
I had an emergency with my pup - I called in advance and was able to be seen within 30 minutes of arriving. The staff was so kind, supportive and gentle and Dr. Donovan came up with a solid plan that seems to be working well so far! Although I hope I won’t have to return here any time soon for an emergency, I am grateful to know that there is such high quality care nearby if need be.
Dr Mausser went above and beyond for my dog and I. The entire staff made us feel like family! I cannot praise VEG high enough... 5 stars is simply not enough!!!
Today I brought in my daughter Stella because she was throwing up a lot. Not just was the entire staff very sweet but Dr Costa was great. He sat and explained everything to us very well. Stella was VERY comfortable with everyone there. After he took her x-ray, he brought us into the back where they do the x-ray and explained everything on the x-ray. He answered some questions I had about my Stella that had nothing to do with my appt. He was great. Not my first experience with this place (my familys dog) and they were great each time!
Called the office.Brought my dog in right away.Took care of HIMDoctor Donoran, Tech Kristen and Assistant Michelle are wonderful andVERY caring.Price was Good!Happy to have such a place so close too.Thank You Veterinarian Emergency!
Brought my very sick Daisy to Veterinary Emergency Group. Thank you to Dr. Laurie Donovan for calming me and making my girl well. The entire staff was so considerate and very loving to my girl. Thank you!
I highly recommend VET in Commack. The staff is extremely professional and helpful, whether it’s on the phone or in person. The doctors are amazing. I brought my 15 year old poodle to another hospital who put her on hospice after several unnecessary hospital stays. I took her out of there and then spoke with Dr. Costa in great detail about her medications and her condition and, as far as I’m concerned, he saved her life. After speaking with him, she’s back to normal. You can tell immediately he genuinely loves animals and wanted to save her. I can’t thank him enough! My dogs are my children and I would not hesitate to bring them to this hospital. They are the best and I am so grateful to them and that they are there!
I never leave reviews but my experience definitely warrants one. If youre having ANY doubts of coming here...put them to rest. Ive worked in the veterinary field for 15+ years and Im VERY picky about the veterinary care I receive and am often times guilty of micromanaging because I dont trust them. This wasnt the case. From the get go I trusted them. My French bulldog Olive was transferred to this hospital from their sister hospital in Carle Place. She was 60 days pregnant and a puppy died inside of her. We didnt know until her body started to expell it and it got stuck in the canal. During her emergency cesection at Carle Place she was spayed & kept for supervision due to some heavy bleeding. She went home at 1am. Early afternoon the next day she went downhill very fast. She had gone septic. We ended up back at Carle Place where they did emergency surgery & I believe the puppy punctured her somewhere in her canal qnd caused an abscess. They put a drain in and transferred her in the morning to Commack. They called me several times a day keeping me up to date. She was in there for 4 days. On the third day they came to me optimistic she was doing better and would be able to go home in the next 24-48hrs. This wasnt the case. She ended up becoming resistant to antibiotics and she started crashing. They did everything they possibly could to save her to no avail. I ended up having to put her down. Even the vet and techs was emotional about it. They truly love and care for every pet that comes through their doors. Dont take any bad comments to heart. Theyre hurt owners who are grieving or just are hard to please. 9 out of 10 times you take your pet to an emergency hospital its a life or death situation. These people do everything in their power to save your pet. Yes its expensive. But you cant put a price on your family members. Im a breeder and will go above & beyond without money being an issue to save any of my pets. Id rather be out the money than out a pet. Theyll work with you and find a solution. I cant thank the staff enough for everything the past week...and I will never go to a different emergency clinic.
My dog was treated like she was the only dog in the world. They handled our Fina with much care and patience and also spent time with us explaining the diagnosis and treatment going forward. We would like to thank the excellent Dr Donovan, Techs Veronica and Jen, Assistants Leslie and Amanda and receptionist Jennifer. A great team of excellent professionals. Ill trust my pets to them anytime.
I had SUCH a great experience with VEG Commack! I was in a panic when I found a tick on my cat. When I arrived, I was greeted by their entire team in the main waiting area and everyone was so pleasant and genuinely helpful! Dr. Rice, tech Jen, and assistant Sarina were all so great with my cat. I wish they could be my primary vet! Highly recommend!
They are amazing! So sweet and nice, made my puppy feel comfortable and not afraid!! I knew the first time i went to see them 2 weeks ago that they would be caring and compassionate towards my dog. Today i had a follow up and they were just as amazing as they were the first time. I honestly wish they were my primary vet because i’m so in love with how fun, nice, and helpful they ALL are.
The most ANIMAZING (AMAZING) people. I Went in to put one of my very sick feral cats down. Treated both of us with dignity, respect and compassion. Took the time to sit down with me and talk about the cat, her symptoms, and what I felt was best for her. Everyone, from the office manager to the vet, Dr. Costa were amazing. Thank you all for making such a difficult decision that much easier. 😻❤️
Brought my German shepherd in for an emergency. Dr. Knoell was wonderful with him. The techs were Veronica, Steve and Mellie. Assistants were Michelle, leslie and Gina. With great coordination from receptionists Marcella, Jennifer and Barbra, we were in and out very quickly.
I took my 7week old kitten to VEG and not only did Dr.Donovan see him in a reasonable amount of time, I was confident my kitten was in great hands. The staff was awesome. Vernice took the time to make sure the instructions from the doctor were clear. I cant thank everyone enough, including Mellie, Michelle, & Chris. Top notch service. I hope to never need emergency care for my animals again, but if I do I will use VEG!
Every staff member at this location was incredible & treated my dog so delicately when she was under distress. Thank you to Dr. Laurie Donovan who explained everything to me on my dog’s diagnosis. Thank you also to Veronica & Jen(techs), Leslie & Amanda S. (assistants), and Jen (receptionist)! Most incredible team I’ve ever experienced!!
Absolutely amazing team. Dr. Stanton, Amanda, Gina, and Laura were all just so nice and accommodating (And my cat is an extremely tough patient).
I want to thank Dr. Donovan and her team, Veronica, Leslie and Kristie for saving my cat Sonny. I can’t thank them enough, they acted so quickly on getting him stable. I was able to bring my Sonny home and now he is on the road torecovery. Thank you all again so much for everything.
Dr. Donovan, Dr. Rice, Dr. Lebars and Dr Statone and the whole entire staff at VEG are so amazing!! We brought in our new puppy Stella 3 days after rescuing her. They were so empathetic and caring towards her. During her 3 night stay, i received multiple updates every day and they were all so welcoming towards her and our family. Thank you so much VEG for making her better and bringing her home to us ❤️
I brought my 3 yr. old cairn terrier, Freddy to this group when his regular vet could not fit him in the schedule. He was in distress with a torn knee ligament, was frightened and aggressive. Veronica, the technician and Dr Donavan were expert in caring for Freddy. They immediately recognized that Freddy was protecting me, and moved me out of the room. I listened as they praised Freddy for his bravery while carefully examining his injuries. I received medication, a thorough explanation of his course of treatment, side effects of medications, and recommendations. A copy of the report was sent to his vet.I could not have asked for more. I have full confidence in the veterinary emergency group
Everyone was fantastic with my dog Tucker. Dr. Donovan and tech Veronica M as well Assistants Michelle, Leslie, and Mellissa C. Were absolutely wonderful and helpful to my little guy. Barbara the receptionist was friendly and right on the ball with everything. Thank you all so much...VEG is highly recommended!!!
My boyfriend and I cannot recommend VEG enough. We were very overwhelmed bringing in our 3 year old cat, Kenni, out of fear he had a UTI. Dr. Donovan and the entire staff were extremely patient, welcoming, and accommodating. The staff and Dr. Donovan made sure that Kenni felt as comfortable as possible and were extremely transparent and informative at every single step. Often when going to a vet, and especially vet emergency care, you feel out of the loop or blindsided/confused - not here. Dr. Donovan was transparent at every step, explaining in depth all of her analysis, assumptions, diagnosis, the processes etc. It made us feel extremely at ease even in the face of our cat facing a medical issue because we felt confident in understanding what was going on. We never felt like we were being rushed out the door or that some type of explanation/diagnosis was being pushed on us. Our questions were met with patience and thoughtful responses. While I hope you never need to take your furry friend to VEG, if you are in the face of an emergency I couldn’t recommend VEG more, if this were a general vet we would take our cat nowhere else.
After visiting this emergency group tonight, I will never take my animals anywhere else. Amazing staff from the office staff up to the vets. I took my guinea pig to an exotic emergency vet where she was quickly examined and brought back to my car 4 minutes later. I was told her symptoms weren’t life threatening so they would not treat her because they were too busy. After trusting my gut, knowing my guinea pig was not ok and calling EVERY other emergency vet on Long Island, Dr. Mausser (who is not an exotic vet) was the only vet who was willing to try to help. Dr. Mausser treated my Guinean pig and I with compassion while some other vets told me it’s just a guinea pig. She agreed that she was very ill and needed medical attention. We decided it would be best to rush her back to the exotic vet. Even still, Dr. Mausser told me if they refused to see her bring her back and she would try to make her comfortable and keep her hydrated until I could find an exotic vet in the morning. By the time I got Molly back to the vet and insisted they see her, it was too late. She went into cardiac arrest on the table less than two minutes after they took her in. Had the exotic vet listened to my concerns and been a little more thorough with her exam, my guinea pig may have survived. But without Dr. Mausser taking the time to see her and insisting that she needed to be seen, I would have taken her home and she would have suffered longer. Even though my guinea pig did not make it, the compassion and support provided to me tonight shows how dedicated they are to helping any animal in need and to me, those are the people I want treating my animals.
Thank you so much. Amazing staff and Dr. White is so nice and compassionate.
Brought my dog to VEG and the staff was wonderful. Dr. Gray, the Techs (Veronica & Jen), the Assistants (Amanda & Leslie) were all very professional, caring, and sympathetic to all my concerns. Upon checking in, a technician came out to my car (Covid precautions) get my dog and within 15 minutes the doctor was on the phone to discuss her examination and recommended treatments for my dog. I would highly recommend bringing your pet to VEG if your pet is in need of emergency medical care.
It was Sat night and our 18 year old dog wasin distress. We called the Veg drs.and they said come over..When we got there, they tookour dog in and immediately took bloods. My dog was still breathing in distress. After we got back blood work,we all made a decision to put our beloved pet down. Dr. Diana Rice and staff nurse Jessica were very professional, helped us through the entire procedure.I got to hold and hug and kiss our baby while he painlessly was administered the last shot.
I had to take a stray cat Ive been caring for to get checked because she looked sick and suddenly wouldnt let her one week old kittens nurse. After I dropped the kittens at a foster/bottle feeder I called a few local veterinarians and no one could see her today. I called the Commack VEG group and Dr. Costa got right on the phone with me. I took the cat to him and cant say enough good things about the professionalism and caring treatment. Dr. Costa took time to explain the diagnosis and treatment. He was honest and didnt add unnecessary testing. After a rather frantic day I left there feeling reassured. Id return here again if ever in need of veterinary services.
Great experience here. My dog ate sand and they were very positive and upfront about costs and treatment. The doctor came out to my car to speak with me, not just a phone call from the office which I appreciated greatly!
Absolutely amazing the employees are so unbelievably knowledgeable friendly sweet caring and kind I will 10000% bring my dog back whenever is needed I am so happy with the service I have never been to a vet like this before the women at the front desk and the vet Kelly Stanton all amazing. 5 stars couldnt be happier with their service
I was freaking out - very scary experience with my kitty of 11 years. I was hysterical - I called and spoke to Dr. West - The MOST companionate Dr. I ever come across (and Ive had animals since I was 10 and Im 57). After speaking with her, I was fully confident that I had found who I was taking my baby to. We got in the car and drove 40 minutes at 10 pm to take my baby to her. The Entire staff was amazing - Constantly checking on me and constantly updating me on my baby. -The team at Veterinary Emergency Group are THE MOST AMAZING AND COMPASSIONATE group Ive ever experienced- the entire staff at different times came to check and update, and at the end, of course, Dr. West again came out to comfort me, explaining everything- just amazing - I am going to recommend them to everyone I know with animals. Truly compassionate and competent.Just want to say THANK YOU to the entire staff - especially Dr. West.Dawn Walden - Miracles mom
Our 1 year old Morkie was bit by a bee and went into anaphylactic shock. We called VEG and told them we were on our way and should be there within 10 minutes. Upon arrival, the team at VEG met us at the door, took him in and attended to him immediately. We were able to stay with him and as he stabilized, we were offered a private room to settle down ourselves and the receptionist offered us coffee, water and a restroom.Thank you to a terrific team who worked in unison while treating our Morkie to full recovery.
Thank you to the entire VEG Commack team for taking such good care of Otto when he hurt his paw. The whole process was so smooth- texted link to check in on my phone before I arrived, the staff met me at the front door, and the treatment plan was discussed with me every step of the way. Otto is already feeling better and on the road to recovery.
This place was amazing. Super friendly, honest and handle my pet with such great care. It’s really comforting to know they are so close and open 24 hours.
The doctor and staff are so kind, accommodating and compassionate
Great vet! Brought my yorkie here in April when she hurt her knee and the staff and drs where amazing, called and updated me and sent me photos of my baby when she had to spend the night, everyone is friendly and helpful!Took her here this morning when I found a tick near her eye! There was no wait, the staff was so helpful and there was no wait! dr Acosta was super nice !Pls set up an office for primary care!!! You guys are great!
We had a very good experience at veterinary emergency group during a very scary time. Our dog was involved in a fight with the neighbor. The service was amazing from our arrival. They continued to check on us while we waited to hear how her dog was doing. Dr. Sarah came out and explained what was going to happen and we honestly expected an exorbitant bill because the service was so great. The bill was very reasonable for emergency services and the care were amazing as well. I would recommend this place to anybody. It’s not often in South Florida that you’re surprised, so trust me when I say I would recommend this place completely.
THE DOCTOR AND STAFF WAS AMAZING! THEY WERE KNOWLEDGEABLEON MY CAT CONDITION. VERY COMPASSIONATE& WELCOMING. IVE BEEN A CUSTOMER FOR QUITE SOMETIME AND I ALWAYS GET THE SAME AMAZING SERVICE. I WAS SURPRISE THAT I WAS ABLE TO GO TO THE TRIAGE AREA WHICH MADE ME FEEL EVEN MORE COMFORTABLE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. MY CAT PATCH FEELS MUCH BETTER THANKS TO DR FRANCI AND HER STAFF THAT NIGHT.
Great group of people who actually care about your pets.Helpful/Caring staff:Dr.Donovan + MellieAsst: Michelle + Leslie + Gina
Everyone was amazing and super helpful! I was in an out in under a half hour which was great! And they took great care of my pup! :) Thank you to Dr. Grey, Tech Veronica, and Assistance Chris and Alexis.
Dr. Donavan, Verónica, Leslie, and Michelle were so attentive. They literally, saved my cats life. I cant thank them enough for their professionalism, and their caring nature.
Jessica who answered the phone was very nice and cordial, Veronica the technician was wonderful and Dr. Donovon was very attentive
Last night, our perfectly healthy dog, Simba a 10 year old German Shepherd died after having surgery performed by Dr. Mario Acosta who initially gave us false hope. Simba was seemingly diagnosed with bloat earlier in the day. We were told that he was in great condition and a perfect candidate for the procedure. Unfortunately, later in the night the family received calls from Dr. Diana Rice informing us that Simbas heart had stopped several times. How could a perfectly healthy dog with strong vital signs make a turn for the worst? We believe that he was misdiagnosed and the other alternatives should have been suggested. This does not make sense and appears that money was a major factor. The perplexity of bloat in dogs is understood, however this can easily be misdiagnosed. It appears that was easier to slice Simba open than to attempt to take the time to determine what was probably an upset stomach. He was not sick, he had been playing and did not fall under the symptoms of bloat! When Simba went into cardiac arrest (7 times), the technicians and the night shift receptionist were compassionate while fulfilling their duties. Dr. Diana Rice appeared to do her job to the best of her ability but as for compassion, she missed the mark. For others with similar matters, please pray first to GOD for directions before following the veternarian staff.Simbas Devastated Family,The Evans
Wonderful care!!! Our vet recommends this particular emergency care group and we felt at ease leaving our 10 yr old English bulldog overnight. They treated him and our family with kindness and love. Thank you for making an upsetting night so much better!!
VEG Commack is beyond amazing. Had to bring my dog in for a lodged stick. They were professional, communicated well, and helped me stay calm. Thank you to the entire team!Highly recommended!
Awesome care of my cats would recommend to any one professional, knowledgeable experience staff and Dr Donovan call the next day to make sure my cat was doing well excellent.
Visited VEG in trying times, staff was professional, understanding and helpful. Services provided were excellent. Would recommend for emergency veterinary needs.
Dr. Rice, Vet Tech Veronica, and both of the assistants Alexis and Chris took great care of my dog (yes, it was truly a team effort as my dog is quite anxious and difficult to handle). They were incredibly patient and understanding of my dog’s stress level and still managed to conduct all necessary tests to diagnose and treat my dog.
We brought our cat here for an extreme emergency,as no other place would see us. They took him in, kept him as calm as possible while we watched thru the window, but unfortunately the prognosis wasnt good. So we decided to put him out of his misery immediately. They set him up in a soft bed, let us come in and be with him,as we said our tearful goodbyes. There was no rush at all. They wrapped him up in a secure box to go home with as we were burying him ourselves, also gave us a box with an impression of his paw, along with his name in it, and a sympathy card, which was very nice. It was a highly stressful experience that our pet was going thru, which made it highly stressful to us..I hated not being able to go inside while he was waiting to be examined, due to covid restrictions, and which seemed to take forever, but we could watch thru the outside window, so that helped a bit. The doctor came outside to talk to us, once she finally looked him over.. she was very nice and sympathetic, told us what she thought the problem was. There was no remedy for it we discovered, and we made our decision to euthanize then. Overall, as far as an emergency vet service goes, this one came thru in that emergency. They were all very nice..friendly and patient. I would recommend it to anyone needing an emergency service for their pet.
Just wanted to write this review for VEG. We had called about our Pom Dizzy who was experiencing discomfort from a flee topical that we had given her. They took us right in and examined her. Dr Peters and her staff were extremely nice and we felt very comfortable speaking to them and having dizzy be examined by them. You can tell they definitely care about what they do here. Thus far after getting her home, the discomfort has definitely subsided. 5 stars to them. I hope I don’t have another emergency but if I do I know where we will take her. Thanks guys!
I had to rush my eight year old cat Emma to Veterinary Emergency Group on a Sunday as she was suffering from what I surmised to be a bad toothache. Veterinary Emergency Group had been recommended by a co-worker who had a recent emergency with her dog. Im in Riverdale, the Bronx, and it was not a far trip. Emma and I were taken right into the main hospital area and seen first by vet techs then by the doctors. All were professional and caring. They drew blood right away, went over the results with me and started her on antibiotics. By the next morning Emma was feeling so much better. The doctors followed up to make sure I had made a dental appointment with my primary vet. Emma had her dental surgery, is now minus seven teeth and feels so much better. Thank you Veterinary Emergency Group!
Was seen immediately! Wonderful staff and vet!
Very disappointed that they have not gotten back to me after numerous phone calls related to my concerns. All along Ive used them no problems. The last time was a horror show. And this is the 2nd review in writing but they seem to never show the bad reviews.
Thank you again! Dr Donovan tech Kristin assistant Caitlyn for your help and kindness toward our 13+ golden Gracie. Shes resting and has ger T shirt on!!
My diabetic cat was just diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I felt completely overwhelmed with this new diagnosis and was quickly losing hope. As usual, I encountered several emergency situations/questions after my vet had closed for the day. I had called the Commack Emergency Group several times and was always connected to one of their amazing vets. This morning I lost all hope that my pet’s situation would improve as I was confused with medications my cat was on, and was unsure if the were hurting / helping her condition. Dr. Gray took the time to go through all of her meds with me and give me clarity. She explained the hyperthyroidism and gave me light at the end of what seemed like a hopeless tunnel. I now feel like I understand and can manage the situation. From the bottom of my heart I can not thank Dr. Gray enough. The struggles I have had with this new diagnosis have brought me to tears everyday. Thank you Dr. Gray for talking me down off that ledge and giving me and Tinkerbell hope. Commack Veterinary Group is AMAZING!!!!!!
My Dog collapsed suddenly and couldn’t walk. We brought him in to VEG and the staff couldn’t have been kinder or more caring. Dr. Stanton kept in close contact with me as I waited anxiously in parking lot. He was diagnosed with Ideopathic vestibular disease and he should be fine. So grateful to them for being there. Thank you Dr. Stanton, Dr. Gonzalez, Veronica, Melissa, Caitlyn and Laura!
Dr. Donovan, Veronica, Leslie, and Michelle are super friendly and professional! Thank you to the team!
Brought them a bird that fell down on my car. They said they will check it and give me a call. They said that most likely all is fine and I will pick it up later otherwise they will keep it overnight for treatment. So I left but no one called me. When I called them myself they said they are not giving me any information about the bird because Im not the owner of the bird and its totally up to them to decide whether to treat it or euthanize. I said they cant euthanize it because first of all it wasnt in that bad condition to be killed. It just had a tony scratch on its wing. Second they have to give me information about birds condition because I am the person brought it. They said I will have to pay for bringing it in or they will euthanize it because its not mine. That wasnt what they told me when I brought the bird. I would have never given it to them if that was the case. They are manipulators who just want to get my money and play with my feelings. They said its not mt bird it belongs to wild but its not their bird either to kill it just because they cant get money from me. Stay away from this hospital or since there not too many animal hospitals open on weekend let them know that you know how their operate and wont let them to play these games with you. They are scammers. They dont care about animals
The staff and the Doctors were so wonderful to Daphne and me. I was scared to pieces, but they were great about staying in touch and letting me know how she was and gave her extra love since she spent the night! Hopefully I will not need to, but I will definitely keep them in my phone in case of another emergency!
This is an amazing facility I took my dog Coco there and he was treated with so much empathy and care. We saw Dr.Rice and she was the most caring, compassionate doctor. Definitely recommend this place.
I am a registered nurse for the past 50 years. I have a diabetic cat who went into a hypoglycemic crisis at 3 a.m. this morning. I was referred to V.E.C. by my vet who had no emergency hours. the entire staff, from Alyssa who answered my frantic phone call and also greeted me at my car on arrival to the vet who treated Lilly were all fabulous!! They were compassionate, caring, and knowledgeable. They made me feel like I was their only patient. I would highly recommend them. My only complaint is that I cannot have them as my primary vet!!
Words cannot express my gratitude to this lovely office and even lovelier staff. Dr. Benson is truly heaven sent. The technician Wendy is nothing short of amazing. Staff was easy to speak with and easy to communicate any concerns with. Reasonably priced, but I would pay whatever is necessary for the sake of my fur baby. So glad we found this gem. Hopefully wont need an emergency vet all that much but it is so comforting to know that they will welcome you with an open heart and arms. Thank you SO much for walking me through my difficult time with my fur baby and making me feel at ease. My only recommendation is for Dr. Peters to embrace some better bedside manners- I overheard her speaking with some family about the status of their fur baby and she was very stern and not soft spoken or empathetic. We also experienced this tone with her regarding our fur baby. This however does not speak upon her abilities as a great Vet. It is really awesome to get everything emailed to us after our visit, even copies of x-rays. Thanks for a great experience here, please dont take this personally, but I hope we dont need to come back anytime soon! :)
The doctors and staff at VEG are professional, compassionate and very warm, kind people. I arrived at the clinic in distress, worried about my very sick dog. I left feeling happy, relieved, grateful for the amazing work the VEG team had done! My dog is now at home, healthy and happy again!
The staff was amazing and took very good care of my cat. She was hit by a car and they gave her the care she needed to pull through it. Thank you so much!
These amazing veterinarians and their staff saved my dog’s life. The whole operation of the facility was extremely quick, organized and efficient (even during the COVID-19 panic) which saved precious time in an emergency. They managed to diagnose the problem right away and jumped straight into action, we were seen so quickly and our dog was getting the treatment he needed almost immediately. Honestly the whole staff was incredible with how quick and how thorough they were. It’s a small facility, which actually works out well because it shaves off waiting time and your pet gets more individual attention and you actually can watch your animal’s examination through a small window. They’re an irregular hours group, so if your pet needs to be monitored overnight like ours did, they’re getting around the clock care and close supervision (not to mention photo updates). Our vet was extremely sweet and even once we took Kingsley home she continued to check in and seemed to genuinely care about how he was doing. We took a chance on this place because it was the closest to where we were and we got so incredibly lucky these doctors were so capable because with less proactive caretakers, he probably would have died. If ever you have an issue with your pets that just can’t wait till morning, try this place. You’ll feel a lot safer knowing that they’re in good hands.
This place did wonders for us and our dog, Daisy. We were able to call them in the middle of the night when she first started to exhibit symptoms. When we brought her in, the nurses/vets were kind and compassionate. I do not know the name of the vet who took care of Daisy, but she was fantastic and honest. She told us that Daisy did need an X-Ray but they would be closing soon and wouldn’t have the results back in time. We had two options: transfer Daisy to her primary when they opened or to a 24-hour vet. Given our options, we were not charged for her check-up, which would have been over $100. The vet understood the situation we were in as we ran out to find other care for Daisy. I would definitely recommend this vet in a pinch. Your pet will be taken care of.
I had my dog put down last week which is upsetting enough I have used this place before, the animals would go to Regency usually when I asked why they use another crematory or where they were they did not know and was told somewhere on island when I went back later for paperwork and asked again was told Rhode Island so was told conflicting stories! When I asked about the paw print was told they didn’t have any left but would write on paperwork to do it before she was cremated...well guess what was never done and I can’t get that back when I went to pick her up I asked “where is the paw print” and they told me the girl should have put it in the computer I was told she wrote it on the paperwork so u gave no paw print of my baby! Very upsetting to me! I think there is an issue with all the people that work there rotating In and out you never speak to the same person! Tonight I was told they didn’t have any paw print boxes because of covid...how long are you going to say that for! I know the original place was taken over by this new corporation maybe they should all get on the same page! I think I had more faith in them before it switched hands!
I can never say enough great things about not only the Doctors but the entire staff. They were beyond caring for not only my cat but for myself as well. They went above and beyond and I can never truly thank them for helping me in the most difficult time. I was able to stay all day every day and when I did have to leave I was comfortable knowing my cat was in the best possible care. Warm, loving, kind and all around AMAZING group. This is the only emergency group I will ever refer someone too. They treat your pet like it is their own and not like its another dollar coming in the door. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all you do xoxo
First time bring my dog to emergency, the experience is above all our expectations. Its Sunday afternoon, they respond to the call fast and process to check-in is very smooth. The staffs are exceptionally friendly and professional, the doctor explained situation throughly before and after treatment, highly recommended.
You hope you never need an emergency vet but if you do- this is the place to go. Compassionate, knowledgable, friendly and informative. Our dog had a strange late night stomach issue that turned out to be benign but they were all amazing . Dr Callahan, The tech Veronica and the assistant Jess made a tough experience better. Its great to know that VEG is close by and excellent
Very professional and very kind doctor and nurse. They took care of our little rabbit and allowed my children and I to watch through the glass window. That made us all feel much better that he was in such good hands.
The vet that was on that night, Ashley Peters, I believe, called me a liar and accused me of harming my cat by bringing her outside in ice melt causing burns on my cats paws, I didnt. Brought her to a vet the next morning where she was diagnosed with a plasma cell disorder causing problems on her paws. Thankfully this vet knew what was happening and was able to provide my cat with help, rather than just calling me a liar, VEG is super unprofessional and wrong. I also never got my paperwork to send to my cats insurance, which I called and asked about 2 times. Never had an issue bringing in my other cat, until then
We’ve been to VEG in Commack many many cold nights and they have always treated us like we’re the only patient there, no matter how busy. When you go to VEG you and your pet are treated with care and curtesy. Holidays, weekends, the middle of the night, they are where we go when our little monster decides to surprise us with something new to keep us on our toes.
The level of care and empathy for both the cat and myself was so comforting!. They took the time to explain everything to us and answered any questions that came up throughout the night. After watching these amazing people it is very oblivious they love all animals and take it as personal as the owners do. We are lucky to have them in our neighborhood
We are very grateful for the caring experience we had here. Our dog went into heart failure and we rushed him in at 11pm. We were taken right into treatment and we were allowed to stay with him while they did all sorts of tests. The dr tried many different things but our dog was too far into heart failure to be saved. They gave us a portable oxygen machine and let us go into a private room with a comfortable couch with him to hold him and say our goodbyes. We made the decision to end his suffering. We stayed with him during this process to comfort him until the end. The staff was so caring and sympathetic. I would highly recommend coming here for emergency services.
Last night, my dog Bruno needed an emergency vet. We were so lucky to find the VEG veterinary emergency group. Laura, the receptionist was great, calming. The whole team, Dr.Peters, Dianne, and Sam, made the entire experience truly a pleasure. Bruno left a-ok, and they didnt charge an arm and a leg. Id recommend them to anyone in need of a vet NOW. thank you, all of you. ♥️
I brought my rabbit Lola who was in GI Stasis, here the other day, the service was impeccable and everyone from the vets to the techs put me at ease. They were quick and explained everything clearly. They truly cared and took care of Lola, whos in better health today because of them!
We were traveling from out of town and our dog was suffering from not one but TWO serious ailments! We came in and were addressed right away, the staff didn’t even wait for me to finish my paperwork to get my dog in to the vet right away. Throughout the process we were never separated from her so we could see she was well cared for. It was quick, reassuring, and exactly what we needed!! I was so impressed with everyone. Thank you to Dr Fiore, Jen, Kim, and Gina for keeping us well taken care of and calm.
I called before I went, explained what happened to my cat, and was told to bring him in. I then brought them my cat in despair so they can treat his tail wound. They bandaged the tail, which stayed on for a whole 5 minutes, and told me that they don’t do the amputation procedure he needed. And I needed to go to another vet. $500 later, later that night, I took him to a real vet who operated on him. They are scammers. Stay away!
Amazing group! The warmth of the staff made a scary situation so much better. Their patience was also appreciated as I tried to answer their questions with a sleepy, foggy middle-of-the-night head. I really appreciate how they jumped into action to care for my cat and took control of the situation when I was so out of my element. Im forever grateful that they are there.
No nonsense, seen quickly. Very helpful, one of the best emergency vets I’ve been to. Reasonably priced as far as emergency vets go. Hope I won’t need their services again any time soon but if I do I’ll be returning.
My dog needed immediate vet care and we ended up here. From start to finish he was well cared for. While it is expensive that is to be expected when you go to an emergency vet. They worked with our vet to continue the treatment the following day. Hopefully we won’t be back... but if I need these services again I won’t hesitate to go here.
I could not write better things about the people that work at this animal hospital. We were greeted by Laura who immediately took Cody in when our normal doctor was closed. Diana and Kim, the tech and assistant, were SO personable and eased our anxiety about our pooch.Dr. Benson is the best!!!!!!!!!! So sweet, so caring, so compassionate and tells you exactly what is going on and how you should go from there. Was very happy to hear from Dr. Benson when she called to see how our doggie was doing. Amazing customer service and quality of care.
After much searching on a sunday morning after my buddy wouldnt get up, we found veg veterinary in commack. Beyond compassionate!! Dr Peters was amazing with my older buddy. Prices were reasonable, and didnt feel taken advantage of. Love my buddy but hate getting ripped off, and other reviews at other places scared me.....not only because of the cost, but how people are being treated....my buddy is doing great! Getting grey like me....staff is fantastic!!!
