I was in the area so decided to check out Upland. The building is amazing.Kelley was very polite and attentive. I ordered the fries and a Dragonfly IPA. The fries had great taste and came out fresh. One of the coldest beers I’ve had in awhile. There are a lot of places I go to where the beers seem like it’s room temp. I like my beers ice colds and Upland delivered.I will definitely come back and recommend to anyone.
My wife and I were looking for a local spot to enjoy a nice relaxing St. Patricks Day lunch. Upland was the perfect choice.Their special was an amazing corned beef and cabbage with potatoes and soda bread. Everything was seasoned nicely and the beef was moist and tender. I know they arent specifically an Irish Pub, but this was some of the best CB&C Ive ever had.We had an appetizer of pita bread with feta cheese covered in honey and arugula. A must try.Service was excellent and our wait staff provided info and conversation that made our visit enjoyable. Ive been there several times, but this was my favorite visit so far.
Love this place. Took my daughter and her husband for her birthday. The Patio Cat brew was great as was the food.
Great little local spot. Food was good, staff are really friendly. If you like local spots, this is a good one.
Just finished a delicious brunch at Upland. The staff is experienced, friendly, and helpful. The food was inventive and nicely presented. The frittata was light and tasty with smoked bacon. The breakfast pizza looked wonderful. One other note, the portions are huge.Among the beers and ales, the IPAs and a couple of the ales were excellent. It tried the peach sour ale and was very happy with my choice. When in Cloumbus, Indiana this is a place to stop.
Water works building refurbished into a restuarant. Great re cycle of a great old bldg. Food was great. Some healthy choices. Good staff there. Scenic patio area. Gets pretty loud if you are out there when the train goes by.
Thank you everyone at Upland for making my afternoon visit with “One-Eyed Nash” a true dog adoption celebration! Great food and Hands Down the friendliest Upland staff I’ve ever had at Any location!! Pup and I will def return!!
I got the three little twigs sandwich and fries. While I didn’t like the chorizo, the rest of it was amazing. Our server was very friendly and had excellent customer service. The chips and salsa was great as well. Perfect place for a date night, highly recommend.
Great Spot! An absolute must when you are in town! The beer is pretty good and with 14 options on draft, you can find one (or four) to quench your thirst! The Beer earns Upland Pump House 4 stars. The Food takes it to 5 in my book! Great burgers, great salads. But, i absolutely love the Turkey & Guac Sandwich. It is just the perfect sandwich in so many ways.
This was my first visit to Upland and I will definitely be going again. The food and service was excellent and the location was unique. I would recommend it to anyone who happens to be in the area even if you have to travel a bit.
Really neat building and architecture. The service was good too! Their juiced in time hazy IPA was one of the best Ive had. We arent from Columbus but will definitely make the trip down again to enjoy this place!
Food was great! Service was good once we sat down but when we got there we had a party of 6 and all of the bigger tables were taken so they said it would be a 20 min wait. It took 20 mins for them to slide 2 tables together that were empty when we arrived.
Ordered take out over the phone. Food was ready on time. Did a quick check of the food and it appeared correct. Got home and the tenderloin was completely wrong with a sauce and topping we requested be left off. The fish was mushy. A handful of fries. Very disappointing and definitely not worth what we paid. Will not go back.
Beautiful place. Nice setting on riverwalk.
Not bad, first time there...Asked for one type of cheese on cheeseburger but got something different...not a biggyI do hope that waitress that we started out with gets part of tip left...between shift was reasoning
In addition to the great food and service of the Pump House, is the location. During the warmer months, you will witness the downtown Columbus area bustling with activity (and a few diesel-electric locomotives rumbling nearby) while enjoying food and craft beer on their patio. For a brewery, this is fine dining!
My husband and I spent the day traveling around and stopped here for dinner and drinks. The place wasnt super busy, but we had to wait what seemed like a while to be waited on. But once we made our order it was all good from there. Our waitress was friendly and our food came out quickly. We got chicharrons as an appetizer and I had a peach cider and the tenderloin sandwich. I was stuffed and still had half a sandwich and fries to take home.
Simple food prepared well. Sitting outside on the deck alongside the water made the meal very pleasant. Would be ok inside but special outside. Burgers were excellent. Service was efficient and professional.
The food is excellent as always. If youre unsure about something on the menu just ask! Lots of local variety and inspired options.
Food and atmosphere was awesome! Prices reasonable. Great staff, too!
Good fries.Dont order the Indiana tenderloin. The patty was way smaller than the regular sized bun, dried out with no flavor.Upland, you may be able to call it a tenderloin someplaces, but take Indiana out of the description and name. False advertising.Aside from that restaurant was friendly and fast.
Food was bland. Buttermilk dressing has no flavor. What business in the mid-west doesn’t have a ranch dressing?!? Burger was dry, one child refused to eat the Mac & cheese, I agree it was gritty. Don’t go for the food. I don’t drink beer so I can’t speak on that. We did have good service though.
Great beer, good food with vegetarian options. Lovely ambience
Great use of a historic building. Very nice view of the river. Food is good and prepared well. Service was good as well. Server checked in with us often. Could have been more friendly though.
I enjoyed the food here. I got the pulled pork along with the fries and it was delicious. I had some good company as well. It felt slightly odd, because even though place had an open feel, some tables were in what felt like the middle of the room.
Super cool upland in the heart of downtown Columbus. Food is amazing and upland beers are always the best the state of Indiana has to offer. Sit outside to hear the soothing sounds of the river.
I had the barbeque sandwich with potato salad. Delicious! Very filling.
Waste of money, went out with the wife wanted something different, seen pics of this place building was cool, on the river...blah blah...same thing youll see in other reviews...I dont drink alcohol so cant say much on that...food....if your going for food turn around and go somewhere else, ordered chips and salsa...normal...nothing to exciting...ordered both of us New York strip and fries....yeah thats the meal...asked for any type of A1 or bbq...nope...so we got a 12oz dried brick with fries...and 2 drinks..and chips and salsa...84$....I suggest just keep looking skip this place all together
Interior was cool and comfortable.I ordered fish and Cole slaw. I was disappointed that the fish was over cooked and dry. I did not like the blue cheese slaw. The water was excellent.
Great atmosphere! Love the deck. Awesome selection of beer and the food is very good as well. Veg-friendly. Deck is dog-friendly :)
Great vibes, took 25 minutes for kids Mac but it was ok I wasnt in s hurry. If I was this would be different. Plenty of seating and parking. Great view. Good for casual lunch or dinner.
Columbus Upland Pump House is one of the most beautiful places to dine in all of Columbus. The food and beer are also very good. We try to go here at least every few weeks. Promise to take pictures next time!
Really cool place. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. Got a tasting flight and loved the sours and IPAs. Wide variety to choose from on the beer list.
The Hostess and server were wonderful. The food was disappointing and lacked flavor. The Patio Cat was recommended by the hostess and it was the highlight of lunch
Very nice location at the river. We were sitting outside. It was beautiful. The food was good and the employees very friendly. Would go there again.
Our visit was wonderful, very good food, the adult beverages were great, the atmosphere was comfortable, the staff was attentive and very nice. I would recommend that everyone should visit.
Great experience! Beautiful food presentation. Delicious.
Mind blown. Bison burger was excellent. We were there when they opened on Valentines Day. We were a group of four business colleagues (from 4 different states) headed to do an event in Seymour. They seated the whole building all at once. We needed quick service and quick food and we got it. Great atmosphere, great food, great fun. Ill be back if Im ever in Columbus again.
Not very organized at the front of the house. They seemed to be short-staffed, as we waited over an hour! Once seated, everything was fantastic 👏
New, on the river and very pretty. Good beer selection if you like IPAs.
- Spinach artichoke dip - to die for!- Tenderloin - Ive never had it with mustard aoli, and it was great.- Tried the cherry lime hard seltzer. I normally get dark beer but wanted to try it. It was good, though next time I want to try a bear. I mean beer. I mean a bear beer - teddy bear kisses 😘Cool building, stellar service. The only downside is not leaving room for dessert.
Unique menu in a unique setting. I had their classic burger today and a bison ball for an appetizer and an apple pecan coffee cake (both shown). Good service and the food was great.
Came here for Maifest with some friends who go here regularly after having bad experiences at Upland years ago. Things have improved significantly here in the last few years. The food is amazing (both dinner and brunch), there is a wide variety of drinks, and the staff is incredibly friendly! Ill need to stop by here more often.
Good food, good service. Loved sitting outside and hearing the white river behind us!!
Great overall dinner experience! The venue and architecture is beautiful. Has a large lobby area, large windows to see into the kitchen, multi level seating areas, nice bathrooms, and full round bar.The food was great as well, lots of great craft beer options including their own. Great place to stop at passing through (just a couple miles off I-65), or to spend a nice evening at.
Amazing drinks, incredible brunch, but we found the dinner menu to be so-so. We’ll still be back, though!
The venue is absolutely beautiful inside and out!! Very well done. The beer was just ok. I had the porter(can’t recall the creative brewer name) and it wasn’t the best ever, but decent. I had a Big Woods brewing company porter early that day and it blew away the upland porter. Destroyed it! The service was ok. They forgot to bring out the salads before our entrees. Then we ordered an extra side, that they never brought out either. My wife’s Salmon was really good. My NY strip was cooked perfectly, but it was completely bland. No flavor at all. I’d probably stick to the pub food the next time.
Fantastic food, beer, service, and a beautiful building! We have been going to Upland in Bloomington for years and were driving through Columbus and decided to order food to go. The building is beautiful and they have picnic tables outside next to the river. We were not ready to eat inside due to the pandemic, but we sat outside and enjoyed our meal. Closest thing to eat out in over a year. Couldnt have made a better choice.
Fire. They have a rotating menu and are very big on supporting local eateries. The 5 starts is honestly for the pulled pork cakes. Its basically like a crab cake but with their pulled pork that they braise with their champagne velvet pilsener. SO GOOD. The texture is awesome theres such a nice crunch on the coating, soft pulled pork on the inside, and they top it with coleslaw and pickled onion. The Reuben was really good too but those pork cakes... theyre not always offered so try it if you see it on the menu!
Great beer, great food, great location. Sitting on the patio in summer is always a delight.
Good food, good beer, goodcservuce, whats not to like!
Great service and great product, nice atmosphere with pleasant surroundings and people.
Great food and drink selection with a very nice outdoor patio area when the weather is nice.
Absolutely great location, next to a river, outdoor seating, wonderful. The food was incredible, nachos piled high, very fresh guacamole. Pizza was fresh and vibrant. Of course the beer is awesome, which really rounds out the experience. Basically youll come here the first time for the beer, youll come back for everything else. Wonderful helpful staff, clean contemporary decor, awesome food!
I absolutely love the aesthetic of this place! Beautiful! The food was great although a bit pricey but I would definitely recommend this place. Lots of Vegan options if that is your preference!
Food was pretty good and service was decently fast! They were out of quite a few beers on their menu which was disappointing but overall still a great meal. They were quite busy, but service was okay.
Love all the good food, it is a wonderful break from the traditional out to eat. The food here has depth and layers of flavor. I had gotten the salmon, wonderful. They also have a wide range of different beers. If you are not a drinker, you will very much enjoy this place. A must stop when I am in town.
Great food and great service for our sons rehearsal dinner! Highly recommend this place!
Great food great staff
Service was fast & friendly. Good food! Loved the view of the water sitting outside on the patio.
Fantastic place to eat in Columbus! A little pricey but worth it. I recommend any of the burgers at Upland.
Nice place, a little noisy for my taste. I go there for the fish and chips. Yum
Desert is a must! The night we went in there was no wait (after 9), upscale menu, offers unusual items.
Apparently there was a management change. This store manager seems to have really let things go. They were overwhelmed with about 75% of the outside patio filled. Our lunch took 1.5 hours due to slow service. Some had to leave early and we had to pay for them, so they could make meetings. Once the food arrived, it was still good.
Walking in you have the expectations of goodness!Walking to the table you quickly learn it’s cold, the chairs are metal (old office chairs with padding from the 60s) and cold to sit on.The restaurant was empty when we arrived and full by the time we left. A good signWe had a party of 16 coming; we pre-notified the restaurant but they didn’t have enough tables arranged separating the party. We had to request the tables be joined.IssuesThe menus were dirtyFor an “upscale establishment” the silverware is cheap flatware. The server took our drink orders one side then down the other but forgot which order they were in. Not sure why they provided an inexperienced server for such a large crowd. The coke had no flavor possible the syrup needs changed. They were responsive when I brought it up. Immediately changed syrup.I’m not a fan of straws being placed in my drink, I’d prefer to place my own straw.Appitizers came outCheese curds - cold and tastes like fair foodBreaded CauliflowerBlue nachos cause regular nachos is not normal.Spinach artichoke dip with chips and pita bread. While sitting waiting on our food I over hear a waitress say they have no support staff and he’s too new to place a 20 top order.Conversations among servers should be in private.Professional attire should be required, not tank tops or shirts without sleeves exposing their bits. Ones Deodorant could fall off and into someone’s food. #grossThe loaded nachos are placed on a small plate without spilling everything. The cheese is hard and when attempting to take a chip it pulls the entire mountain. The black beans are extremely runny causing the chips soggy. However out of all the bad the chips are salty and fresh! The cheese curds and smoked chicken wings were on point and very well done. The carrots have a hint of vinegar taste. The soup of the day was tomato bacon. When the soup arrived you wonder where is the bacon. I did find 2.5pcs small pcs of limp bacon. The soup on initial taste gives the impression of Ragu tomato sauce but as you continue to eat the salt and flavor start to come out and confirm your opinion the soup would be better served on pasta. The soup is piping hot!Adding crackers gives the texture of chili. The spinach dip was also another favorite!Food arrivesThe tenderloin isn’t a tenderloin at all but rather a frozen pork fritter - #disappointed. The tenderloin was average...without the onion and condiments it would be flavorless. The fish was excellent and a toss up between red lobster with flavor! Good jobThe hamburgers appear to be hand made and cooked to perfection. The frys are “brewery” frys and top notch with the perfect amount of crisp. We did have one dish arrived UNDER-COOKED and needing remade. See photosOverall this was a great experience, they can’t hit a home run every time. I won’t be back.
Beer as good as always. Its been awhile since Ive been there I thought I remember the food being better.
Service and food were amazing! Sweet tea was perfect. Two very happy teenagers :)) definitely stop by
Food was good and higenic. Good service. Did not try any kind of drinks.
There are so many other places in Columbus that have better everything. Upland has a nice building and that is it. If you want a nice plate of pub nachos go to the Garage. If you want a nice tap list go to the Columbus bar. If you want a good burger go to Joe Willies. If you want a nice varied menu go to 4th street. I have been to upland many times for work and personal gatherings, and it has never impressed me. Avoid this place if you can and enjoy any other downtown establishment.
Terrible service. We were honestly shocked by how disorganized and slow it was. When we arrived, there was a line of people waiting at the host stand and it took 10+ minutes before anyone acknowledged us. (In hindsight, we should have bailed then) Every table seemed to be waiting an extremely long time for food/service based on the comments we overheard. My husband had to eat his entire meal without a drink because no one ever came by our section again. My burger was also extremely overcooked.
Great food, vegetarian friendly, and great service! Pretty good with handling covid procedures properly.
Good food, awesome service!
Legendary destination. Diverse American classics and undiscovered beverages. A delight on repeat.
