We have been looking into filing bankruptcy for years now but have hesitated because we have been unsure of the process. Last Friday we had our very first appointment at mark herders office. We were still wary but figured one appointment would at least let us have a good idea at how difficult this process really would be. The first appointment was very quick and easy. Started by looking at the website of Mr. Herder. Everything was laid our very easily and had all the information and requirements you need to get started. Called on a Monday in what I am sure is a very busy time. Left a message and to my surprise, Mr. Herder personally called me back very quickly. After reviewing some information, an initial appointment was set up for Wednesday. Arrived at the office and Mr. Herder met me at my car and we went over my situation and began the process. Let me just say that Mr. Herder is very passionate about helping his clients and no one is judgmental within his law office. Everything was very comfortable. While filling out paperwork I was called by attorney Lindsay from the office who is extremely pleasant and professional and very detailed. She listens, answers any questions and is helpful all along the way. Once the initial step was completed, I had an appointment for the following morning to finalize and file. I arrived early the next day and before I could even call the office, Lindsay saw me pull in and called me, Wow. We spent some time going over my situation, and before you know it, she came out with the bankruptcy petition. She answered every question I could think of before reviewing the paperwork and then allowed me to go over it and sign where required, which had been highlighted. Upon completion, it was filed and then a little more paperwork. They get their exercise coming back and forth to your car, Ha Ha, but never a complaint. Ive been through two prior Chapter 7 bankruptcies. The first one I did all the paperwork through an online kit, about $700 total. Dont do that unless your situation is fairly simple and you cant get the money for a lawyer. It turned out to be a huge disaster. The second one, I hired attorney Mark Herder, about $780.00 total. I had friends go through bankruptcies and make huge and costly mistakes, and I then found out about Marks office from a friend at church. Mark actually called me back even before visiting his office, and his office is truly on the ball. At court, the Trustee took about 5 minutes and was very smooth. Marks office has simple pricing and no hidden or extra costs. He does not nickel-and-dime you from a laundry list of possible additional charges, such as credit reports or the counseling classes. I just finished my chapter 13 bankruptcy case with Mark Herder and am very, very pleased with his services. I had 2 pieces of real estate in the case and Mark was able to arrange things so that the last 5 years have been very successful. I was able to eliminate 2 mortgages through the process and still keep my main residence. When I was shopping around in the beginning, other bankruptcy attorneys had suggested that I follow through with mortgage modification. Mark pointed out that this was not a good strategy for me at all. I have also been able to reestablish my credit along the way too and am now looking forward to retiring in my home that was saved in the bankruptcy!
