I have been a member apparently for over 2 years and some odd months. I thought I had canceled my account as of about 6 months ago.Today I looked at my bank account and realized I was still being charged. Six months ago my spouse had canceled their account under the assumption that it would have closed both of our accounts since we signed up at the same time. They were told that all charges would be ceased after an extra 2 month period, we assumed that meant that we would no longer be charged at all. Unfortunately, what apparently happened was my spouses account was cancelled but they create each persons account individually. The accounts were linked together but that distinction was never mentioned and the mention of all charges should cease after two months only applied to them and not to both of us as we were led to believe. We have already been told that we can not receive any refund even though we have not been to that gym for well over a year. Now I have to make a long drive to the location to sign some documents and cancel my account. As some extra information, we originally wanted to leave after corporate fired our trainer because they did not try to pressure us into coming back into the gym while the pandemic was still increasing its spread and there was no vaccine in sight. We were told that the $500 of credit that we had for personal training would not be refunded to us because we could just pick a new trainer. However, with the pandemic still seen by us as a major deterrent at the time, the time it would take for us to find a trainer we clicked with, and get back to the level of familiarity of what we want as an outcome and what works the best for us in training we decided that it wasnt worth it.If you are a couple or family joining, expect to make this a family outing to leave, and if you have any money left in your account youll have to accept that you wont get it back.
Plenty of free weights and cardio equipment. This is a very good gym.
My favorite place to work out. Clean, safe, private, friendly & offers something for everyone. From unique classes to physical therapy to beautiful pool to very up to date workout machines with a neighborhood atmosphere, you cant go wrong with joining MUV. My family loves it.
Love this Place! I like the fact I can do my Cardio and weights in Peace ! I went to Plant Fitness for 8 years and as a female I could never get on any of the weight machines because they only had one or two of each . At Muv they have multiple options...
Great place to get a full body workout with plenty of equipment and space to not feel crowded or rushed to finish! Having a swimming pool available is a major plus for me.
Beware of predatory and illegal billing. I also noticed my previous 2 star review has been deleted.I spoke with the manager about canceling my membership during covid due to losing my job and financially struggling to pay rent and she responded that the community gym contract triumphed me needing to pay rent. She’s a disgusting person for sure. The facility itself is fine but their lack of customer service is something else, especially during this hard time when people have lost families, jobs and their livelihoods. They care only about money not your fitness journey.
Love this gym. The atmosphere is awesome and the people here are very kind and helpful.
Muv Fitness on Forest Drive has poor customer service and it always wasn’t like this. For the second time, I was told that no racquetball courts were available. And for the second time, I arrive and see that both courts are in use. If certain customers are being told that a specific court isn’t in use, why is that not being enforced for all members? And the front desk staff has become so nonchalant and laissez fair about any issues that customers bring to their attention. For example, a female trainer came down to ask the 20 year male front desk attendant for help with a flooding toilet and he responded that he couldn’t because it was a female restroom. I believe he did help with printing an out of order sign, but his comment and attitude about the situation is a clear reflection on the level service has fallen to. I don’t pay membership fees for discriminatory service or laid back customer service. I hope this changes because I enjoy the FACILITY and it’s close to my home.
Going great enjoying the class and the equipment and the trainace are very professional in courteous,, patient
Sometimes too many people but it has the best equipment in the area
Took a tour and it seems nice. I am doing a two week trial. Ill update review after trial.
Good service and clean and motivating peace to all
I wanted to renew and requested an adjustment on renewal I was not able to utilize the facilities forabout 10 weeks due to contracting Covid. Assistant manager said I need to speakto manager; however, he would not communicate with me. I set upAn appointment, waited while he was in his office but heWould not extend the courtesy of even speaking with me I joinedAnytime Fitness for a 2 yr membership and also have a daughterThat will be joining after a trial period. In addition, called corporate but no response. .
Nice Gym... I especially enjoy the pool.
Very disappointed the only reason we were going there it was Mrs. Annies classes and she was my daughter and son in law personal trainer and the changes were awesome their looks and attitude everything changed on them since Annie became their trainer as for me and my husband we love her water class specially the water bootcamp !! however I love the music her playlist is a spirit lifter!! fun and great rhythms and the way she motivate the people and her positive energy is contagious and the knowledge about every move and exercise she have she explained through the class and she answered every question we had and she acknowledge you as a person as an individual it was always refreshing and looking forward to her class aqua zumba, aquafit and water bootcamp AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!! NOW what they have is the most boring instructors and class those ladies should be retire at home being miserable in their home and not at the pool transmitting all their NEGATIVE VIBES!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE IM BEGGING BRING ANNIE BACK SHE GIVE LIFE TO OUR YEARS AND NOT YEARS TO OUR LIVES!!!!! if not well my husband is a good lawyer Im sure we will not have any problems cancelling the membership and many other members !! P.S. does anyone knows where Annie is working now what gym? we like quality and we follow quality !!! (that star was force in order to be able to post this !!!!!! ALSO PLEASE TRAIN YOUR STAFF IN CUSTOMER SERVICE MANNERS !!!!
Gym is decent considering the area. Absolutely dont recommend the personal trainer sessions WAY WAY overpriced.
Great atmosphere and love the gym
4 years later, still the best gym with the best amenities.
Best fitness gym!! Love the pool, sauna, treadmills, steam room, hot tub,, because virus some amenities are closed . But when it was 100% functional this gym its the best all way around.
NEVER EVER EVER give these people your bank info for auto-drafting. They will charge you for the rest of your life. No matter how many people you cancel with, they will keep charging you. You will ask for a confirmation in writing. You wont get it. You will ask for a reply. You wont get it. You will die, and they will somehow keep billing your corpse. Seriously, run.
So the steam room, pool and sauna are closed kind of the whole reason we pay for the membership but other than that good place to workout they have a women’s only area to workout which I like and an indoor track. Staff is ok they don’t really say much to you at least in my opinion and they have decent classes. COVID has killed many things but all in all nice place to go to for working out
Never disappoints. The manager is awesome, Im a Vet, and Im teleworking with my new job, he allowed me more membership options with my in town and out of town schedule.
COVID has reduced the hours that they are open, but that’s to be expected.Great gym with a good layout. Helpful staff. Good price. Conveniently located.
Love the steam room and group workout classes. Plenty of good equipment. Used to be the best gym in town (it may still be, I haven’t looked) but they haven’t done enough to keep up with maintenance in some areas (tile around pool/carpets). Overall still a great gym though.
They need to make sure that people are wiping down machine and wearing masks.
I love this gym, however, The staff could use a little customer service training. There is one person in particular who is rude and makes comments under his breath as you enter. It’s a shame.
I have been trying to cancel my membership at MUV 3 separate times since March. I have filled out paperwork, called, and emailed, and still my bank account is being charged. The gym itself was nice, but obviously this company benefits from its very poor customer service by charging people for their membership months after they cancel. Very unprofessional.
Con ArtistBeen a member off and on since it was CAC. In 2017 signed up for a one year contract to end 2018. Got it with a letter from a collection company yesterday. Apparently after your contract ends, they roll it to a month to month contract without notifying you. They are trying to charge me for a year and a half that I didnt even know I was a member. No communication from MUV about this at all.
Great for early morning work outs
I love this gym
This gym has everything you need! Cardio equipment, free weights, weight machines, a pool, a sauna, showers, etc, it is great! All the staff are supper friendly and helpful. I can’t remember the instructor of the spin class, but her class was killer! And it is always clean! 100% would recommend this gym.
Just moved to the area from Pennsylvania and this was the closest gym to me. Agree with another reviewer who posted that they use some “high pressure” sales tactics to sell you on a year long contract on your first visit (e.g., “If you sign up today, we won’t charge you the $99 initiation fee” 🙄.) Because of COVID they apparently NOT doing the 14 day free trials as they are not allowing any “guests.”HOWEVER, that being said, I decided to join as it again, was the closest in location and has a lot of group classes (even during COVID) which is what I like most about the gym.Have now been going multiple times a week for 2 weeks.Overall, the class quality is EXCELLENT. Can not recommend this gym for the group classes enough. So far, I have attended Zumba, Muv Combat, Muv Flow, and yoga. All of the instructors have been wonderful- particularly Quinton and Brice. The cardio equipment and space is also very nice. The gym is very clean and well maintained, and they are clearly trying to do their best in the COVID situation. One star off for the sales tactics, but otherwise have been extremely pleased with this Muv gym thus far.
They are not making clients wear masks like they should and when I complained about it the employee employee was very rude to me.Recommend you not go until the pandemic is over if even then!
Dont waste your time, Planet Fitness is better than this place. Poor customer service, treat their employees poorly, most of the classes are low quality. Ive been going through a nightmare trying to cancel my membership due to relocation, and the gym and financial company they work with drag it out as long as they can to get as much money out of you as possible.
Terrible experience. They charged me twice unauthorized. They have proof in their system. Ive sent corporate enough proof they still refuse to refund the money. Especially given the state things are in. Every time i call corporate they seem incredibly shocked that they couldve have made a mistake charging me that they keep asking me to prove it. Canceled my membership and put a stop payment on them. Horrible business. And front desk clerks have no idea what they are doing. If they ever even try charging me again im getting a lawyer.
I am newer to the area and was trying to find the best gym for me, and have been working out for 10+ years consistently. Ive been all over the country and have experienced almost every type of gym and their memberships, trials, sales pitches, etc. I can say that Muv at Forrest Hills is an average to slightly below average gym, but monthly prices seemed to match their quality especially compared to national averages. I ultimately did not take the membership as I was not a fan of their sales approach or the ultimate cost-benefit analysis.Their 14 day trial should be labeled as a 1 day trial with a 60 minute sales pitch that if you dont cave and sign on the spot the conversation will just repeat itself over and over and over until you do cave or they deem you a lost cause. The best gym memberships are to the point and and no frills or BS, but Muv definitely shows that they thrive on high turnover. The contract pricing was decently black and white, but they would only verbally acknowledge the bi-weekly price vs the total monthly price. Yes I can see the whole price right in front of me, but the fact that theyd only acknowledge the bi-weekly price is a solid indicator that they like to sway your attention a bit. I was also heavily pressured to upgrade to the option that grants access to all Muv locations. I asked if my trial would allow me access to all locations so I can make an educated decision first, and I was told that wasnt a possibility and If I decided I wanted that option then I could upgrade at any time. Why would I upgrade to something without any knowledge of its quality or value? In total I had to tell the sales associate that I would not be making a decision that day 4 times as I do not sign contracts same day for anything and that they were the first gym I had looked into. I was met with every tactic in the book from you know what youre doing in a gym and youd be a great fit here. to you mentioned running your budget, can you not afford $xx.xx every two weeks?...it just seems like money may be tight for you? I was appalled by the latter; the lowest form of sales pitches -- attempt to make the customer feel less than about money so they will prove otherwise by signing on the spot. thats timeshare level sales pitching.I was told upon leaving that the GM would call me the following day to discuss my decision. I never received said call which further proves that they operate on the side of the gym spectrum that thrives on turnover and same day signings -- i.e. youre a number if you sign up. Someone who is truly determining the best gym for themselves and avoiding rash decisions will be deemed too much work for the dollar at Muv.Nonetheless, here are some pros and cons that I observed of Muv during my very short time there.Pros:-Good location-Clean workout area-Indoor track-Good variety and selection of equipment for all types of fitness-Decently friendly staffCons:-Extremely pushy sales tactics-Minimal squat racks and flat benches-Aging facility and equipment-Dirty/foul odor locker rooms-No 24 hour access
Gr8, friendly staff and i love how cleaning is at the top of the list
Dont like the masks... cant breathe deeplyI got a waiver
Great atmosphere and set up. There is a variety of workout equipment available on both levels and the gym is equipped with saunas and a steam room. My only complaint is the length of time it takes to get equipment fixed. The mens sauna hasnt been working properly for at least 3 months now. The knobs for the timer and the heat settings are broken off and havent been replaced for an even longer period. There just doesnt seem to be a sense of urgency to address something so simple.
Its local to anyone living in Forest Acres area including Fort Jackson, Arcadia Lakes, Lake Katherine, and Heathwood areas. They have childcare options with memberships, indoor pool, womens only area for workouts but with limited equipment, yoga/ bar studio (bar extra $$), spinning studio, large group class studio, and 2 levels of cardio, weights, and equipment. For additional $$ you can get a trainer. Its convenient with lots of amenities but can also be a little overwhelming with all the choices. Additionally, its difficult to know how to use the machines or which ones to incorporate into your workout if youre a beginner or just getting back into a routine. A trainer is definitely recommended beyond the 1-2 included sessions offered with membership. And there are lots of trainers to choose from with different skill sets to find the right one for you.
Started out with the free two week membership and I was pleased so I joined. Well, once that trail period was over so was the glam and glitter of everyone wanting to help, or be friendly anymore. The facility is AWSOME. There is never a wait for a machine, but there’s never anyone available to assist me in how to use the one’s that I’m unfamiliar with. I guess once you’re a paid member, you go from being a princess, straight to being a frog.
Its a pretty good gym for the price. I like that there are a lot of classes that I can take and a lot of amenities. The equipment though is older and definitely shows signs of wear and tear. I personally really like the aqua for classes because I get a great workout but its low impact for my bad knee after I tore my ACL. The only thing I would say is that sometimes when you go to a class a few weeks in a row the content of the class doesnt always change so it gets boring. Overall though, good for what you pay.
Great place love this gym. They have recently stepped up the activities on cleaning pools an Jacuzzi. Thanks everyone.
I love this place! It has Something for everyone . Most everyone is cordial and respectful. This truly is my place to escape and relax while promoting a healthy physical and mental lifestyle.
Definitely one of the best gyms in Columbia. Always look forward to coming to this gym. I have never had any issues. Staff is always polite and always give me a greeting and good bye. Only reason I couldnt give them 5 stars is I feel they could use at least one more squat rack, leg press, and maybe a deadlift platform and trap bar. Of course every gym Ive gone to can use more squat racks
Started going to this location after moving further away from the one on Killian Rd. They have plenty of equipment and I really enjoy Tuesday morning RPM. Not sure if its a lack of space or the amount of people, but it can feel cramped even at 5:30am - especially in the weight training area. I prefer the space and trainers at Killian, but this ones closer to home.
Good place to work out.
Nice gym, equipment is kept clean. Really love the cardio floor. Extensive weight selection. Locker room is really clean and aesthetically pleasing. If I could change anything, it would be that it wasnt always so crowded, but I know that is completely out of their control. Still, its my favorite gym in the Columbia area.
I had a membership concern that I brought to the front desk at the local MUV Fitness location in South Carolina. The front desk associate recommended that I contact their corporate office and provided a phone number for me to call.I called the phone number and left a message for Karen. Karen returned my call the very next day. Karen listened to my issue and was very understanding and made an extra effort to help me and work out an arrangement that was satisfactory to me.I am very pleased with the quick response and friendly customer service I received from Karen. When you join a gym you dont expect that you will need to speak with the corporate office to address a membership or other concern, however, I am very pleased with the exceptional service I received. If all their MUV Fitness locations operate and provide this top notch customer service then I would feel very comfortable saying that is the type of gym that anyone would want to be a member.Sincerely,Mike Dolan
Like this place. But they dont enforce masking as customers walk right past the front desk.
With the lack of quality gyms in the cola area, muv actually does it right. VERY fair price with everything youd expect from your gym. The only thing that would make it better is if there were more locations in other states. It was nice having a membership to a national gym since I travel so much.
I think this gym is amazing. It takes care of all my needs.... childcare, pool, tons of cardio machines and its affordable! I try to go three times a week because I live so close by. I love this location. Deff muv fan.
I have belonged to gyms for most of my life, and this is the nicest facility I have ever worked out in. The equipment is great and maintained in top working condition. I particularly like that the place is clean and the ventilation is good. The track is large and removed from a lot of activity by being on the third floor. I have been surprised at how much I have enjoyed things like the cardio-cinema. I like that there is a stretching area near but separated from the weights; as simple as this is, it did not exist in other gyms. The layout and atmosphere encourage me to stay and exercise. I am really surprised by the reviews that are negative; my experience has been great. Good price; straightforward sales; great place with lots of options for whatever you want to do.
Its really huge inside, but more aesthetically pleasing than useful. The weight area was very small, and you feel like an animal at the zoo on the lower level while the upper level cardio folks look down on you while you workout. Not for me, but it was very clean and large.
About two years ago I became a members of Muv Fitness in South Carolina. I never once used this membership and less than a month later I moved to another state without a location so I called to discontinue my membership. I filled out the paperwork and faxed it to the number I was given. The few months I continued to get charged my membership fee. I called dozens of times and resubmitted the paperwork multiple times yet I was still getting charged! I had to pay my bank to put a stop payment on Muv because they never resolved the issue. The last time I spoke on the phone with a manager I was assured that everything was resolved and my membership was canceled. Well I am now trying to buy a house and long behold they are claiming I owe them over 800 dollars and it is now in collections! This is insane! I am contacting a lawyer about this.
All in all a decent place to exercise for the money. Theyve got friendly staff and a variety of equipment. The only thing is the constant last minute cancelling of classes.
Plenty of equipment and different varieties of similar equipment. Friendly staff. Five minutes from my house (big +). Reasonable rates - one year contract then month-to-month after; that’s another big +.
Great
I have absolutely no idea what these people are talking about, I just did the survey that I received through my email and I will repeat exactly what I said, The management speaks to you on an amicable personal level instead of a condescending professional level where you feel as though you are being looked down upon instead of being a welcomed customer. Any time that I walked in to the place, even if I didnt approach him, the store manager would smile and wave. Every time; not an exaggeration, seven days a week. Unfortunately, due to my relocation to Lexington this past month, I havent been able to frequent the gym as often as Id like to. I called him four days ago a payment discrepancy (which was totally my fault) and he was still as friendly as always. Never a complaint... even the protein shake staff (which are contracted in by a separate company) fulfill any customer satisfaction standard for me. Maybe these customers who are complaining were just plain rude and got what they deserved. To that? I say good riddance; the less rude people going to a place that I frequent? The better.
Giving a one star not based off facility or classes but simply customer service. My fiancé and I joined being completely upfront about military orders being 6 months in Columbia and telling them we needed a month to month or we couldnt join. They said being military we could opt out of a contract by showing orders. We moved May 25 and when we went in to cancel we had horrible directions, were handed a sheet of paper and told to fill it out and scan it in through their parent company ABC financial and have had zero luck cancelling. Weve emailed customer service, emailed the direct line on the form, sent orders, new lease agreement and are still being charged for a gym we cannot use due to being over a 10 hour drive away. I recommend you find another gym that will work better with you for month to month like many gyms are doing.
Member since Jan 2013. After MUV conversion nothing but headaches. They care nothing about paying members. Only marketing to get new with an auto renew clause. That way they get paid no matter what. Make it really hard for anyone to get out. Read your contract! Dont sign it. If you dont use the gym you will still be charged. I used mine for 7 yrs but they cut classes drop anything to avoid service to paying members. Rethink this guys. The corporate philosophy really sucks!!!
I laugh at these reviews ! 😂😂😂 great gym, very clean (steam room could use some TLC). It IS a two year contract, however if you move within out of 50 miles of a golds gym your contract will be terminated at no additional charges or penalties. If you sign up at any gym (that has the same opportunities as golds) you will have a contract. If you dont want to be in a contract, then go to your apartment gym 😁.Staff at Golds Forest is by far the friendliest. They acknowledge you as you enter AND exit. Their child care is also the best I have experienced.
The gym itself is wonderful. There is so much to do between the classes and individual workouts. I am pretty satisfied. However, what I am curious about is my specific memebership...I was told that it was $45 bi-weekly. Now that I look at the website, I see its only suppose to be $16 bi-weekly, so where did the extra $28 come from? Also would I be able to change the membership. I havent even made a payment yet and already been told I cant take off a service that I dont need. I still love everything about Muv, but I want to make sure I am paying the right price and is beneficial to me.
Love it here. Staff is so nice and the equipment always works. Lots of classes and personal training is intense!
I’m giving this place a one star solely because today I was treated unfairly by the cycling instructor Lindsay during the 6 pm class. She let someone else take my bike after I had my stuff already on the bike because I was not there at exactly 6:00. I was not able to make it to the class at exactly 6:00 because I was waiting in line to use the restroom which was occupied by others who take the class as well. My husband texted me at 6:01 telling me that they were taking my bike. At this time I was making my way up back to class. Obviously I could’ve not controlled the fact that there was a line in the restroom and to let someone take my bike after a minute after 6:00 is completely ridiculous especially because the whole situation was out of my control. It is so unprofessional of her to create such problem and atmosphere in her class. Purposely pinning the people against each other. Making us fight, really? And to make matters worse she was doing this to another girl who was coming from school to her class. She put her stuff down on her bike and headed to the bathroom to then have her bike taken?!? Poor girl probably went through so much to make it to her class and to have her bike taken because of something out of her control? And it was only 1 minutes after class started? I can’t even tell you the amount of time the instructors have started class 1 or 2 minutes past 6. And to top it off when I went downstairs to speak to a manager, she did absolutely nothing to help the situation. Ridiculous.
Awesome place for the average gym goer! For how big it is, there seems to be a lack of equipment. Two squat racks, 1 leg press, then a bazillion benches for some reason. I often wait to squat or deadlift (no chalk allowed).
The gym has possibly everything you would ever need. There are plenty of weight machines, free weights, and cardio machines. Also there is a pool, indoor track, indoor area carpeted with turf, tanning beds, and an aqua massage chair. The locker room is spacious with plenty of lockers, showers, bathroom stalls, and steam room. The only downside of the gym is that it closes on most days at 10 pm. Youre out of luck if you ever need to get on your late night gym grind.
Lots of equipment, ample parking (Ive never had an issue finding parking at peak hours) and beyond friendly staff and members. I left that gym everyday happy that I went and with a smile on my face because of everyones kindness, STRONGLY suggest being a member here.
Great place to exercise very friendly people and the staff are very helpful! They also have a variety of workout equipment and I specially love the movie room where you can work out and watch TV as well!
Hours say they’re open until 7:00pm on Saturday. Not true. The website needs updating.
Customer Care and support is horrible. If you try and cancel your account even after the contract period they make it very difficult to do so since their payments and memberships are handled off site. I attempted to cancel once out of contract and they gave me a run around about it (Had i moved so far away or had medical issues even being out of contract) and said I had to email my form off site. This was almost a year ago and yet I am still being charged.
This gym is a complete RIP OFF! You sign up for a year, and they continue to take payments until YOU COME THERE to cancel it! Then they will try to say you signed up for auto renew! Don’t use MUV fitness. Find a gym that’s free or at least worth the money you pay.
Not just a gym..I go for physical therapy.HPRC.The best.
I was interested in coming in and seeing what options were available to sign up for and begin working out regularly however MUV’s contract membership detered me. It looks nice and has some good equipment but it’s not worth signing a contract for a full year. Perhaps a month to month membership would bring more customers.
I have this to say about every Golds in the Columbia area. When are your facility hours going to reflect the times that we live in. Many people work long hours and or work nights. These gyms hours are only suitable for people who work 8 or less hours a day and work regular day shifts. I would really like to see an adjustment in the hours of operation so that those of us who are really pressed for time can still get a workout in after 5:00pm on a freaking Saturday. Catch up people for real.
Clean, great selection of classes, affordable. Locker rooms with lockers, dry sauna, wet sauna, pool, hot tub, all the machines you could ask for. Best gym Ive been a member with.
Nice! I am ready to handle my challenges!
After Muv renovated Golds Gym much of the equipment has been upgraded, although some of the newest areas are for classes and premium levels of membership. It can get quite crowded at times, but still is an excellent gym.
Great gym, just wish some of the equipment was better kept.
I joined here in 2016 and enjoyed my experience while I was here, however I moved in 2018 and contacted Muv in February of 2019 about cancellation and was told to print out a cancellation form, fill it out and email it to them. I did this immediately, and sent the forms to the email I was told and didnt ever get a response and continued getting charged. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, I got an email threatening to send me to collections if I didn’t pay all of my past due on my account. I emailed Muv once again, explaining that I tried to cancel it back in February and now being threatened to be sent to collections. This time I was told that they had given me the wrong email to send the forms to and it was a misunderstanding. Once again, I filled out the forms and emailed them all to the new, correct email I was given. 3 days later, I get an email back saying that they are no longer in control of my account and I’ve already been sent to collections. In my opinion I shouldnt he sent to collections over someone else’s fault. I did what i was told to do to cancel my account, and it isn’t my fault that an employee gave me the wrong email and I wasn’t contacted ever again.
I have been going here for 7 years or more years. It is a nice gym. The people are very friendly. I have never had anyone be rude to me or I would not go back. The equipment seems to take a little longer to get repaired than before but it does get repaired. My big issue is the people that dont use the towel hooks in the pool area and place their towels in chairs so no one can sit down or the bench you sit on in the gym to rest has weights on them so you cant sit down. But all in all it is a very good gym
Be careful of the contract. Make sure you read it carefully BEFORE you sign.I knew what I was getting into with the contracts so that part is ok for me.Some of the equipment is in disrepair or is broken. If aggressive workouts are your what you are looking for then you are in luck.If you are older, beware of Personal Trainer workouts that can cause injuries. Some trainers dont show up at the last minute. However, mine did call a couple of hours ahead of time and did make up the session. If you are still working, this could be a problem.Hope this helps you decide if this is for you.
One of the best gyms in the downtown area. I looked around and cant find any gym that meets my standards besides Muv. Its HUGE, and Ive never had an issue with parking/equipment being used. I like that the group classes are offered for free; most gyms Ive found around here are either only class or only cardio/weights. My boyfriend likes weights and I like classes as well as the treadmill on days I cant make a class so this is the perfect gym for us.
No parking at peak hours, avoid wasting your money. Pool is dirty as well as hot tub. Clients use steam room with shoes on which keeps steam room funky. One decline sit-up bench in whole club. Trainers with clients monopolize machines and weights.
Very busy during peak hours. Maintenance is pretty good. A decent selection of equipment, Lots of cardio equipment.
If youre looking for a real workout dont come to this gym. Too commercial, too PC.They let the trainers workout anywhere do whatever they like but if you arent paying them out the wazoo, they dont allow to freelance and do the same on your own. Hardly any new equipment since 2009 when they were golds. Save your $
Have enjoyed and seen positive results from attending Body Pump 3x a week. The continued releases of sets have kept me going.Would like to see management more involved with checking the gyms cleaning.i.e. looking up atair vents & pipes which have build up of dust.
This gym is dirty, the staff is unprofessional, and there is mold on the shower curtains. Be careful when reading the positive reviews. More than likely its someone who works there. I went in one day to add my girlfriend to my account. I asked specifically, This will not renew my contract right of course it did. Moses was the managers name who did this. Anyways, there are better gyms in the area. DO NOT FALL INTO THIS TRAP!
Their equiptment is good. They have really great programs but customer service really sucks at forest drive. Its like their trying to sell you a car or something else instead of actually trying to find out what your coming to the gym for or ask about work schedules or family life.. Not my type of place I wont be becoming a member
This is the first gym that I have ever joined and so far it has been an enjoyable experience. I love the cardio cinema, I am going today. =)
Friendly staff. Wide variety of equipment and classes. Awesome daycare! Clean and organized.
Pressureeeeeee, they try and make it so light but it is not.
Ventilation in the mens locker room needs some work. You can smell it at counter. Employees dont smell it, because they are in the environment during hours of operation.
The only con is that the hours are so wonky. They close early on the weekends, which sucks pretty hard.Other than that, the atmosphere is great, the lockers/bathrooms are always clean, and the staff is very friendly.(if anybody from Golds is reading this, FIX YOUR HOURS!!!!!)
Worst experience Ive ever had at a gym. Went to look into joining, and was taken around by the pushiest sales person I have ever met. He DID NOT EVER mention that there was a two year contract. I asked specifically what if I need to cancel the membership? His response: oh dude, dont worry about that. No one ever cancels. Still didnt mention the contract. Called another local Golds Gym to complain and their response was oh yeah, we get this complaint a lot about that particular location.
3 of things are steam room, sauna and whirlpool being rebuilt I need all 3 being disabled retired vet with4 back surgerys
It is a professional money scam. Its a 2 year contract that you can not get out of unless u are dead or away! The child care is overcrowded! you CAN NOT do any thing, because you signed the contract and the manager will say they she owns you!BE CAREFUL before you sign anything!
The machines STAY BROKEN... all the time! Not enough machines. They trick you into a TWO YEAR CONTRACT that cant be broken.Great Zumba!... friendly workers for the most part.Overall, this is NOT worth the money! ... I repeat dont fall into this trap, whenmy contract is up this year, I am DONE!
Dont ever try to cancel your membership for any reason and youll be fine.UPDATE: I tried to cancel my membership at Muv over a month ago and I’m still being charged and my account is under “pending cancelation.” The company has been charging me late fees because they don’t know why my auto draft didn’t go through on time. I’ve talked to their corporate office at least 5 times and everyone says they don’t know why this is happening yet I continue to be charged. Please, customer service, go ahead and leave a comment here telling me to contact your corporate office to resolve the issue. This company and their “customer service” is trash.
This is the best MUV location in my opinion. However they should feature the Zumba teacher Allison!!! This place has very friendly and accomadating staff plus a daycare that actually ensures the kids enjoy themselves. My kids always ask what gym we will be attending and if its Forest Drive they are estatic. Nice clean enviroment INCLUDING the bathrooms! Locker room pool and jacuzzi are great. My only complaint would be no towels. Cmon now!! A pool/Jacuzzi duo with NO TOWELS!!?? Other than that great place that I highly reccomend!!
