Thank you Fades & Arches Barber Shop! Oh man, the service was excellent! Super friendly vibes! Thank you Mr. Chris for making my boys look good! If you are in the area and need a cut hit Fades & Arches up! 5 stars from me!
Really great place to go! First time there, the barber was friendly and conversational. Just like one of those old school barber shops 🙂 Advise calling ahead to see what the wait time is and hours, Saturdays are crazy days.
Owner is very dedicated to his work, very skilled at cutting hair. He stayed later than he needed to, and then gave me a haircut after hours since I waited in line for so long. Ive been going here on and off for years and I would recommend Fades and Arches Barber Shop to anyone looking for a good spot for a fresh cut.
Had a great experience here. Highly recommended. Great customer service and good timing.
If I could give a review without any stars this would be it. It’s only one barber he’s very rude. Not only was he picking and choosing whose hair to cut when he wanted to cut it, also wouldn’t let book an appointment so my husband and I could make our next destination. Long horrific story short husband never got his hair cut we sat for 2 1/2 hours just for 3 people that got there after use went before him
The shop is open much longer than other barber shops. The gentleman who owns the shop cut my hair. He did an excellent job and I was very pleased with my experience.
Nice Spirits was excellent the barber did exactly what I wanted him to do
Good service long wait because its so busy
Just moved to Columbia and went in to get a cut. Chris delivered with the clean fade and eye brow line up. Definitely recommend and definitely coming back. Professional guy and a good conversation!
Walk-Ins welcome and the haircuts are great! Safe environment during today’s times.
This place is run down and the owner is very unprofessional how talks to customers.
Enjoyed my experience a few weeks ago. I’ve known Chris for years and he’s one of the best barbers I’ve had. I recently appreciated his approach during COVID and the safety procedures he had in place.
Chris stayed late and hooked me up with a clean fade. Ill be back
As I walked in, the oldest gentleman there was very polite and welcoming. Im not from the area, so that made me feel relaxed about being in a foreign environment. The temp-fade I got was decent. Nothing to go crazy over. I feel like I was in the chair 20 more minutes than necessary. The barber kept stopping to talk with the guy getting cut next to me, the other customers sitting. That was the only annoying part.
Finally, I got by there. My intentions for the longest has been to check them out. My eyebrow arches are on point. Designed and perfected by Chris the Barber. Im very please with his professionalism, his skills, and his intelligence to top the eyes brows off. I will be returning everytime I need arches done.
The Staff was really nice people very polite and welcoming. Did an amazing job cutting my hair .Thank you Fades & Arches Barbershop. Definitely will recommend people to your shop. Keep up the gr8t Cutz!
Chris did an outstanding job with my son’s haircut 💇♂️! I recommend this barbershop 💈 and they deserve the 5 stars ✨ review.
This is the place to be!! Very skilled barbers & very kind!! They remind me of classic barber shops growing up that make you feel at home in this place!!! Definitely will be back! Thank you fellas for making us feel welcome & taking the time to do an immaculate job!! Sincerely snakelady 🐍
Im in town for military training and needed a good barber shop. Glad I found this place and the staff was very kind. Chuck is such a nice guy too. Fade was nice. Definitely check them out if youre in the area for training.
Absolutely one of the best places around to get that crisp fade!Tried this place for the first time and got the best cut that I had in a long while.People here love what they do and you will walk out looking brand new!
Every time I visit my Mother in Columbia, South Carolina, I stop in to get a haircut. The guys are great. Reasonably priced as well.
Ive been cut by all 3 and the best one is probably the youngest brother up in there cutting (at least for me personally). Been going for 4 years and I would reccomend this shop to anybody, especially military and those who are looking to get a fade type of style. Friendly group of guys who Ive gotten to know on a personal level and they keep it professional consistently. The waits are long depending on how many barbers are in there. Id say week days later in the morning and early in the afternoon are the best times to beat the crowd. The owner is the classiest barber Ive ever met in my life. In Fades & Arches I trust lol.
The barber and owner is very nice and professional. He really took his time doing my haircut. He listened to what I wanted and did what I asked. The shop needs some remodeling and TLC, but the haircut is top notch
Curb appeal of the shop may not be great, but the cuts have never disappointed me.At $17 for an adult cut, I always walked out with a good cut, straight hairline, and a fade that made everyone talk about it. The barbers at fades and arches know what theyre doing and are great to work with.
The barber and owner is very nice and professional. He really took his time doing my haircut. He listened to what I wanted and did what I asked. The shop needs some remodeling and TLC, but the haircut is top notch.
Throughly enjoyed every part of my experience. The gentlemen were welcoming and comversational. I needed a haircut before I left town and googled barbershops neat me and loved the photos of the work they had done. My barber Chris left me feeling and looking like a brand new man. Took his time making sure everything was perfect, made sure to ask my preference on each detail, and held a great conversation. Would recommend to anyone in need of a great environment with fantastic barbers.

Ive been going to this barber for about a year and get a haircut from them twice a month. They are by far the best barbers Ive worked with. I have no problems going to either one of them as they both know how to take care of me. They may be pricier than others, but it is worth my while.
Wife recommended this place from Fort Jackson Spouses Page. Friendly, fast, and they accept cards. Parking lot is a little small with the amount of people they tend to have.
I came in with shoulder length natural seeking a very short cut.... was a bit nervous, but Chris nailed it. I have found my hair home...very nice gentleman.. I loved how he took his time to get it right....he definitely wants to to leave satisfied.
I’m glad I found this place. I was immediately greeted at the door and welcomed inside. The haircut was amazing. I highly recommend this barbershop.
Great place to get a good haircut. The barbers are nice and take pride in there work. Definitely a diamond in the rough.
Very OVERpriced and to not get what you asked for is even worse!.. My son is 8 yrs old and his cut was $32.. I have never paid this much for a kids cut and then his hair was not cut properly or as I wanted even after repeatedly explaining and showing pics.. I was thinking of a place to go to today so he could get a good back to school cut and I passed this shop for remembering our horrible experience.. I definitely would not recommend this place..
I used to come here when I had a short cut. Now that my son is turning two, I brought him to get his first haircut. we felt right at home as soon as he hit the chair. Chris answered all of my concerns about my son’s growing hairline and he was super patient with my son although he was curious and antsy. My son left with a fresh cut and a smile. Great work!
I take getting a haircut very seriously and therefore have a difficult time finding a barber shop that meets my standards. This place has been wonderful ever since I started going. I know that it is difficult working with my hair as I prefer what I would consider to be a difficult hair cut on a hair type not many people are used to working with. My barber worked through me being a very particular customer and has given me consistent excellence every time Ive come by. Im now a regular patron of this establishment and look forward to having my hair done here every few weeks. For any who complain about the prices I would just like to state that you pay for what you get and the prices are very clearly stated by the workers and in the shop. I dont mind paying for a haircut when I get what I want every time.
There was no wait which was nice. The barber who cut my was good for the most part. He lacked confidence and left my hair in places. He was to line everything up and one part of my hair was a half in longer.
This is a well trained professional and experienced barber shop. I wish they we up in NC where I am so i could get my hair cut from them every week. I highly recommend checking them out!
Excellent cut and shave great staff and great prices. A must visit business !
Great place! Out of all the barbershops in Columbia I must say this is the most professional. Chris and company greet all the customers and they do a great job at making everyone feel welcomed. Most of all the hair cuts are GREAT!
Nice experience. The Barber was very understanding of what I wanted. He did a great job with my cut. I will try the shop again.
Guys are welcoming and friendly as can be. Awesome fade and always a pleasure to go back to see them.
The gentleman that cut my hair was extremely nice. This makes my second haircut in the Columbia area due to being stationed here and this one didnt quite do it for me either. The line up was not crisp and he pressed the T-outliners in my scalp harder than need be. Additionally he didnt follow the fade type I wanted and persisted to cut off more than desired and still charged full price. I did not hate the hair cut however it wasnt worth 20 dollars.
Waited 45 minutes with two barbers working with the same two men in the chairs without moving. They were more focused on talking than cutting. Dont waste your time.
I came to Ft. Jackson for military training, and as always, Im a little hesitant when it comes to finding a barber that can give even fades (i.e. not crooked or not even faded). I Googled Chris shop and I was unsure about visiting, but I gave it a shot and was really impressed with his skills. He takes his time with your hair, never rushes, and the hospitality at the shop is felt as you walk through the door. Price is standard for a fade. As someone who sees a lot of crooked fades and bad haircuts from the on-post barbers, I would recommend Chris barbershop.
Had a wedding to go to. Walked in and was immediately greeted. Service was prompt and they did an excellent job on my tapeline. Give this place a shot. You wont be disappointed.
Great shop. Got a great haircut there. They take their time to make sure your cut is neat and exactly to your liking
Very professional and great customer service. The owner was very friendly and took his time to cut my hair. Will definitely go back.
The wait is always to long, I never got an opportunity to get a haircut
Great place to get a nice haircut with good service.
Great Barber, he took time to help my son relax in the chair!
Very friendly and professional staff. My barber was great. However, I give them a poor rating because they are overpriced as a result of these additional random insane $5 charges for services that should normally be included with haircuts. And Im not talking about beards. Never seen anything like that!
First time at this shop and had great experience very family oriented. Would recommend to others
Moved from NC read the reviews and I have to say was very impressed. Definitely found my new barbershop.
Anytime I’m in town for training or school this is the only shop I’ll go to. Chris hooks it up proper every single time!
Great barbers! Everytime I go here its a always a pleasant time.
Chris takes great pride in his work and wont stop until you are satisfied with your haircut. Will definitely be back!
Service and cuts are top notch.
Friendly staff. The location is difficult to get to depending on your route to the location.Parking lot is a bit small. The main door isnt used. The door around the side is used. Every time a new client arrived, the barber had to stop and redirect them to the door on the side. Made the haircut take a little longer than it shouldve been. The barbershop itself is a small space and they have two barbers in this space. They have two televisions playing on two different programs with the volume on both at full blast. Made it difficult to hear and speak to the barber when I was asked about the work I wanted done on my hair. The haircut I received was ok. Not the worst nor the best Ive had. This spot will do in a pinch but would not be my nunber one go to location.
Jerome da barber gave me an official fade 👍👏First time there... Im from da bronx and every summer I go to South Carolina for family reunion and always go back home looking like a wolf but not anymore Jerome hooked me up gave me a sharp and fresh cut... Definitely highly recommended
CHUCK AND CHRIS ARE AWESOME!! They are always so warm and friendly and Chuck is an amazing barber!
Chris did a great job!!
Waited 1.5 hours and then left because I didnt want to waste any more time as there was another 40-45 minutes to go. Only in Columbia do barbershops only have 1 person running them and 4 people waiting to get a cut. Thats terrible business logic. Also, they overcharged me by $5-6 on my first visit last year.
I love getting my haircut here . Highly recommended .
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY IN THIS RAT HOLE BARBERSHOP!Unless you like extremely long wait times, overprices haircuts with inconsistent results, and barbers who dont know the first thing about customer service and building a great haircut experience dont go here. I wasted the greater part of my Saturday sitting in this dilapidated hovel for 3 hours due to the fact that the barbers are extremely slow and chatty. Customers dont get treated with respect and will be treated like as if theyre apart of the staff when theyre order to ; unlock and lock doors, keep their children under control or get out, or to keep the conversations and noise down like as if theyre children on a field trip. Any barber who has the audacity to require so much of his patrons shouldnt BUTCHER A $20 TEMPLE FADE. I had trips to the DMV that render a better customer experience then this vagrant hut of barbershop and I certainly will not be returning. When you have the nerve to have overpriced haircuts that dont reflect the cost, there should be no excuse as to why your barbershop needs a severe remodeling considering the fact that you still have tiny floor model tv for your customers to watch in the year 2015.
The name us earned. The barber I had, Chris, made sure to take time and ensure the fade was smooth and even. Professional staff and faniky friendly with kids books and cable.
This is the best shop in NE Columbia period! I have tried a few until I found Fades and Arches. The only Babershop that I know of where you can sit in any of the barbers chairs and receive the same quality service. The atmosphere is very professional. You can take your kids there because the onwer doesnt allow any profane or fowl language. I have gotten a haircut from each of the barbers so I speak from experiance. Race or gender doesnt matter seen them take care of anyone. The owner is a master barber with the credentials to match.Give them a try and they will become your shop as well!
Second time here. Great customer service. Great barber skill. Will def be back
I have been bringing my son here for years. All of the barbers do a great job.
Barbers were nice, but I was overcharged at $21 for a mohawk (straight hair, first mohawk cut on pixie-length hair, gender: woman). I couldnt see the back of my head as clearly using a hand mirror from the barbers chair, so when I got home, I noticed my mohawk was crooked, and I noticed he left blotchy patches of hair at the top middle along the demarcation line where the buzz meets the longer hair, as well as a blotchy area on the bottom right crook of my neck.I had to clean it up myself and straighten my Mohawk once I got home. For someone to see the back of my head clearly, and I do a better job with a hand mirror at home, its disappointing.I only went to a barber for this because Id never done an actual shaved mohawk on myself before, but I had done a fauxhawk with clippers many years ago.For $21 it was a $8 hair cut in result at best. I wont be back. I also only went because my go-to barbers in Sumter were closed 12/26 (couldnt get cut by them before I left after visiting) and I live in Columbia, and didnt want to drive all the way back there today (12/27).I wont put anyone on blast at Fades & Arches by name, but just be careful and make sure your hair is right in the back before you leave, especially at $17-22 a cut. He told me it was $21 at a $1 discount for the holidays.I asked him how much to just tape-up and touch-up my buzz as it grows out, and he said, Same price--$21. 😒🤔** I posted photos below, where you can see he left hair on the top left demarcation line that wasnt shaved, my Mohawk was crooked as a whole in back, and he left hair on the bottom right at the crook of the neck that was blotchy. It wasnt a good job. He didnt take the time to have me hold my head down so he could properly align the back and get all that stray hair on the side which was missed.I was fortunate to be able to fix it myself at home. With a hair cut this short, if you mess it up, its hard to fix. Im just glad he didnt mess it up worse. The point is I shouldnt have had to fix *anything*. Its a Mohawk for crying out loud. If you cant cut that, you shouldnt be a barber. That was my first and last visit to Fades & Arches. Its just not worth it from what I received.
The only downside to this place is the wait times. Beyond that, its the only place I go. Theyre friendly, polite, and respectful. Always up for a conversation too.
Real friendly southern hospitality and great hair cut all in 1 thanks chris
Go check out chris, hes very professional and consistently cuts my hair well.
After ten years of being a loyal customer.. I felt like the new staff and the owner have changed.. NO genuine customer service skills. They are overpriced for the LONG wait times and the LONG time it takes to get a cut.
Went there with children. My child simply touch a shelf and one of the Barbers hollered at him. Then two other children came in and he hollered at them for playing patty cake. We left after that. Its one thing to holler at kids who are misbehaving, but when theyre not it is quite disturbing.
Chris The owner did a great job on my haircut, hands down and price is right for the the cut. I recommend that you go and get a haircut from Fades & Arches.
Great place for ethnic haircuts
The haircuts started off great but started going down hill. Let me start listing the issues Chris is extremely slow which is fine as long as you are getting the type of cut u want. However if you are pressed for time or impatient then pick the optimal time for you. Second I remember calling to find out how many people he had in the shop before I make my long journey from Camden. He asked me to purchase him a beverage Im thinking surely he will compensate me or deduct the amount off my haircut neither happen. Third he takes too many calls/text messages for his side business which is selling cars. One of his customers was really upset at him for selling her a car with issues she was screaming at the top of her lungs over the phone. This adds more time to someone that cuts slow and interferes with his concentration. Last the straw that broke the camels back is before he cut my hair I politely informed him how I wanted my cut being that he deviated from the normal cut for two separate occasions. There was no one in the shop at the time but I still left disappointed. One more thing you can tell if a barber is good at what they do by looking at their own haircut. He is a good barber and a good individual but I honestly think he is allowing external factors to limit his ability. I will find a barber that is focused on cutting hair and not trying to juggle two things at one time. Do I expect every cut to be perfect no. But if a customer infom you hey I want my hair cut a certain way before you touch my hair but I walk out disappointed I will take my business to someone that will appreciate it. Im a professional young male who would like to uphold a certain image. I dont want to walk around looking like my kids cut my hair because I couldnt afford a haircut. Also one last thing the name of the business is deceiving. My old barber from my home town took his time and fade correctly using a technique of using a small comb and clippers. Chris does not also to get a nice fresh tape most good barbers shape up with a razor Chris does not. He may say I do you have to request it as slow as he is you would think he does but nope. Good luck to those who continue to go there not me the devil is a lie.(updated on 6/23/17). I read Mr Blanks made up response the only problem is he doesnt have a clue who I am so he fabricates a story. I wish his business and his other business the best hopefully he will learn how to treat his customers. One more thing instead of trying to create a story like a movie producer it would have been more professional to say hey im not sure who u r but give me a call. U dont have to support my business again but i wanted to make sure we have an understanding. Instead this guy creates a fairytale. Furthermore he only has one other barber in his shop a brother with thick glasses. Im not sure why he wants to keep his side business a secret but again u cant treat your customers anyway and expect them to deal with it. Honestly Mr Blanks as an overall barber would give a B rating as far as skills but the way he treat hius customers takes it d own to a D. Who knows maybe he isnt making this story up and he had once again another dissatisfied customer. But Im not the individual Mr Blanks is referring 2. One more thing just carefully read other reviews you will see that other customers are saying the same thing. Hmmmm what a coincidence lol. Last but not least every barber now a days try to make their shop comfortable. Mr. Blanks doesnt care about your comfort level. He has hard old church chairs 1980 tvs really. If you Google map the outside picture of the building then the inside is not much better. Oh well I have a new barber who is much better and quicker and cheaper. Take care
