The front desk staff has always been very helpful and friendly. My kids first swim lesson was great. However, they fill up fast and you have to register months in advance. Unfortunately, my experience with their lifeguard, Nathan, was not so great. He not so kindly asked how old my son was, then said he could not use the hot tub. That was fine. And I got him out. However, I had looked for a sign with age requirements BEFORE he went in (to warm up from his swim lessons), and was only able to find a sign with the hours. I explained to Nathan that they should be clearly posted outside the door so people would know, and he pointed me to a sign in the corner that was impossible to see, even in the room you cant notice it. He obviously missed the point. Instead of passing my suggestion on to his boss like I asked, he thought it was better to argue and keep pointing to the sign you cant even see. This really put me off and if the swim lessons and front staff were not so good, I would not be back. We usually go to Cottonwood but they dont offer swim lessons. At Villasport, my son was old enough, and their sign was visible BEFORE you got in the hot tub. If you want people to know the rules and follow them, then have them posted where you can clearly see them. Especially for new people not familiar with the rules.

Great facility the frustration is finding child care slots. The staff says to get on when it opens but it is very difficult to get a slot for two different age groups. Perhaps a cancelation policy for the folks that continually cancel their child care last minute; taking the slot from a parent who would actually use the time, on a regular basis.

Great customer service at this neighborhood YMCA. We continued to pay our membership dues as donations when they closed in March 2020 (pandemic). I assumed that my dues would continue to be be donations when they opened back up since I didn’t use the facilities per military orders. I appreciated the efforts of Mr. Corey Calcote, Briargate Executive Director, and Ms. Shannon Rauen, Director of Development and Planned Giving. They communicated well and worked with me to turn my dues into tax deductible donations and freeze my account for four months. We’re excited to return when conditions allow.

We joined a couple months ago, and so far I’m enjoying it. The staff is friendly, and I love the exercise classes. The exercise equipment is in nice shape as well.I have children that go to Learn and Play, and I feel comfortable leaving them with the staff. I like how you can see the children on a TV in the Healthy Living Center. I also appreciate that they have structured activities in the 3-6 year old room. My one suggestion is to have a more efficient/technological check-in system.

Great gym with everything you need without being excessively expensive or with unnecessary equipment. I love the team at the front desk and the learn and play, and how they take care of my kids. They do a great job with the kids and love my kids as their own. My 5 year old looks forward to going to kids club everyday when Mommy goes to the gym. I can get my workout in knowing my kids are safe and extremely well taken care of. My 1 year old smiles everytime she sees the staff there because of how well they do with her! Thanks so much to the whole Learn and Play team!

Very clean, friendly and helpful staff. Exercising on a clean treadmill was a relief, as for my last place it went down hill.I recommend this specific YMCA highly. You wont regret it. While reading reviews, it surprised me that anyone would have a negative experience here. My family and I have been members for 3 months, and every single time we visit, we are treated with respect and fairness. We have not seen nor heard any other members treated disrespectfully. My hats off to staff, management, and YMCA cleaners. Everyone there does a great job 👍👍

This is a very nice YMCA. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They keep the place clean and fix broken equipment promptly. They offer a basketball gym, a variety of exercise classes, a full weight room and two racquetball courts. They are open most days with only Christmas and the 4th as holidays they close. Parking is good, but on busy days the place does fill up. One of my favorite places to lose at racquetball. Nice clean place, with nice folks.

Rarely do I have to wait to use a machine. Always dedicated and super friendly staff avaiable. Most all the YMCA members are friendly and personable as well. The bathrooms are always clean and properly maintained. I have never seen empty toilet paper or paper toweling dispensers. A vast selection of drinks and energy snacks to fuel your workouts are near the entrance too. Just in incase you didnt have time. Or forgot to bring your own. Not that that ever happens!😊

I enjoy this YMCA very much. However, they need to revise their mens locker room policy. The current policy allows a father or guardian, to bring a 4 year old girl into a locker room full of naked men. We chose the YMCA because of its family atmosphere and childcare. I have a 6 mo and it is important for him to have quality care so I can work out. I was called in because he was being fussy no big deal babies are fussy sometimes. However, when I go into child watch there are 6 babies all screaming my child in a bouncer with another baby holding onto the side screaming directly into his face. All of the babies where screaming with staff just standing around watching not lending a hand to the one girl in the baby section who was changing a diaper. I’m very upset with the experience and will not be going again to this location. If you have younge babies I would not either.

I am sad to say that this location has completely gone down hill. We have been members for 3 years and after taking a 3 month break from surgery, I returned to the Y to find that staff had changed and they are completely unprofessional. I had come to the new staff multiple times in the last week about small chi.dren running all around the track without wristbands or parent supervision, parents coming upstairs to the to watch there children play sports in the gym below blocking the track, same parents letting there toddlers use the track as a playground. This is something that has been going since I returned 2 weeks ago and the staff shows little concern about the issue. The first time I came to the desk there was a girl talking to another staff member and didnt acknowledge me until I had to interrupt there conversation after standing there staring at them until I became frustrated. She said she would take care of it and never saw any staff member come upstairs to even check in the 1 hour and 20 min I was up there. I ended up stopping several times during my run to tell the kids to move and tell the parents to watch there children. The second time was this morning. Same exact situation except this time there was several people at the front desk and when I expressed my concern they once again showed little concern. One staff member did come upstairs to talk to the kids but by the time they arrived, other people running the track had already asked people to move or leave. Not at anytime did any of the staff apologize or show any type of concern for what keeps going on upstairs on the track. They used to come every hour to walk and check the track to make sure everything is okay but it doesnt seem like they do that anymore. I get it, its busy on the weekends, its busy on Monday mornings, but why am I paying you when I have to babysit other peoples children bc they cant take care of there own kids, why do I have to tell people to move that looking down at the gym blocking the track, why is it that asking your. Staff members to do there job like pulling teeth? Your new staff is rude. Plain and simple. I plan on speaking to whomever runs this location and then cancel my membership. It is sad that the YMCA has become this way. So turned off by this place.

I am not a member of the YMCA but booked a birthday party here. He party isnt even until tomorrow and it has been a total disaster working with this facility. Apparently there is one birthday coordinator who only works on February 30th from 2600-2601. You didnt read that incorrectly, nor did I make a typo. Its impossible to get in contact with this person and when I actually did, I was expecting that someone else would call me with procedural information because she basically called me to say that my party was in fact booked because of the fiasco that occurred when I went to sign the birthday contract for a party Id booked over the phone. Ill update this after the party but from my experience and the other reviews Ive read, I already regret booking here.

Im a racquetball player, so thats the extent of my familiarity with the facilities, but they seem nice. Until their courts were closed due to lack of use (and probably the wavy, water-damaged floor), I primarily frequented the Garden Ranch YMCA. I have to say Im more pleased with the Briargate courts quality. However, in the dozen or so times Ive called the Briargate Y to book a court, I think Ive only gotten through about 3 times? A friend of mine had a similar experience, where he called several times, finally got through, and then got put on hold for about 6 minutes before he hung up. This was certainly never a problem at the Garden Ranch YMCA, who always promptly answered their front-desk phones. Please, please, Briargate. Be better at answering your front desk phone.(or at the very least, add an online court reservation)Thanks

We recently moved to the area, and were interested in possible membership in the Y. We took two grandsons to Y football on the first day of practice and listened to a Y staff person talk to parents about the values behind the program. It sounded good. However, one of our grandsons got a bully for a coach who was unkind to the small boys, rude to parents, and to the refs at games. He was a very poor influence and not at all representative of Y values. Multiple complaints to various Y directors made no difference at all. Parents were told he would apologize but he did not. We found ourselves going to games in case our grandson needed protection. Clearly the Y staff would not do that. We were very disappointed in this program, and will look elsewhere for events for family.
