We moved to Colorado Springs in March and wanted to find a good family gym. We went to many and this was the perfect fit. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The daycare is AMAZING. It does go up to the age of 6 but after that your children can hang out upstairs my daughters usually do and there is no issue. They do have an amazing pool but it has been closedDue to covid and now as I’ve been informed understaffed. And that is totally understandable. As many places are. Over all I have gone to 3 YMCAs here in Colorado Springs and this location is by far my favorite.
The worst YMCA I have been to.Never had a problem dropping off my kids, niece and nephew in any YMCA facilities till I came there. When I was trying to figure out how they could help, they told me there was “absolutely no way” (word to word), and sent me away with the kiddos. Than their manager called my YMCA telling that I moved to Colorado (!!!!!! Is it a joke? Why do they call on my behalf?????). I am temporary staying here because my sister lives here, and come pretty often. Not sure what is going on there. Seems Karen got bored and find the ways to entertain herself since there is not much going on in their gym. Pool is closed, very few classes with not such great instructors, childcare provided only for kids up to age 6 (so, 2 of my kids suppose to wait in a hallway, and for other 2 times are available only in the morning or evening, plus the twins are turning 7 soon and will be kicked out to the hallway as well). Never had such problem in my state, and I have been a member for many years! In Colorado membership doesn’t worth money at all!Get membership in Vasa or other gyms, my sister enjoyed classes in Vasa, decided to try YMCA and it has been a nightmare (for all of us!)
Molly vickers is 100% incompetent for her role as “wellness floor director” for an agency that takes wellness into account certainly she fails at her job. Would highly recommend athletes perform their training at other facilities not affiliated with the Y.It’s unfortunate because the other staff there are actually decent people albeit underpaid; ironically are actually the people who should hold higher up positions with the organization. Molly is definitely one of those that doesn’t belong there based on her thoughtless decisions as it pertains to paying guests.
Tried to coordinate Sierra hs efforts with players parents to book at a discount, you understand they are operating in our community however the lack thereof to accommodate for any discount and book at the commercial rate is unwarranted. And not viewed as favorable considering the bottom line that they aren’t truly for the community they operate within. Definitely greedy corporate based decision making at its finest. Thumbs down
Staff was great very helpful and friendly. I wish they would get another machine called octane 80 its the first machine to the right when you get out of the elelavator to the right and its the best machine for older people but someone is on is always on it 😔 thank you
Myhusband and I have been coming here since May 2019. The staff has always been wonderful, courteous, and helpful. We primarily utilize the pool, and the lifeguards are always friendly. Hopefully as we continue our fitness journey, we can integrate more classes into our routine. Thank you for being amazing!
Threw my Daughters birthday here. Spent over 250 dollars and all they do is put tables and chairs up with plate, cups and forks/ napkins. I was thinking they would have balloons maybe and play some music. During the course of the party hours we saw our hostess about four times during the greeting of guests, time to let us know that our pool time was up, that it was cake time, and time to leave. I was just hoping for a better experience maybe some games seems like a lot of money for a lot of nothing. Will not be doing that again.
Huge fan of this location. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The workout equipment is always clean and in good working order. Like any gym sometimes things break down in that case the SE Y gets it fixed pretty quickly. I love the pool here and the lifeguard are top notch. The child watch center employees are some of the most amazing people in existence. This is a great place to work out with fantastic workout buddies who are knowledgeable and keep you on pace. Worth it!
Ready to start going again. Great place for kids and adults
My 3 children and I swam here all summer last year and it was great. This summer we come in to swim and Im told there has to be 1 adult for every 2 kids, so since I have 3 we cant swim unless I can get another adult to swim with us. Its crazy that they not only dont have any faith that a mother will keep her own children safe, but they also have no faith in their lifeguards, or the swim lessons my kids took there last year. Plus I offered to keep the puddle jumper float vests on them the entire time.
Absolutely best staff in the world. The Childcare staff always went above and beyond with the kids and they are the only reason I ever miss living in Colorado Springs.
The staff are always friendly and helpful here. We love the clean, spacious facility. Our kids love the family swim, learn and play, and the play center.
The Y is always buzzing with different activities. It’s clean and well maintained. The atmosphere feels amazing!!!!!
I have rheumatoid disease, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia and several other diseases.Yesterday I did my first yoga swim session. I highly recommend everyone who has similar health issues to try it.
Nice place but there sure are a lot of unnecessary rules and it just was absolutely no fun because of all of the rules. It was pretty pricey for a place that wont let you do a whole lot once you get in. Theres rules wherever you go but they seem to be excessive at this place. The employees also didnt have family friendly music on. It definitely was not appropriate for the ages of the kids that were in there. It was however a very clean nice looking place, they seem to take good care of the facility and care about how it looks.
Its a well kept & well managed facility with a very helpful & friendly staff. The equipment is in good repair, and looks like it was purchased within the last 5 - 10 years. Indoor track for running or walking. Easy access. Day care. Climbing wall. Excellent pool for kids (kiddy pool), and great adult pool & hot tub. Basketball & racket ball courts. Ample parking. Hours are more than reasonable. Locker room (at least the womens) is large, always clean & neat. Plenty of showers. Air dryers for wet clothes. Lockers are large & can be locked.
If I could go negative I would. The facility itself is very nice and clean. However back in August I put a hold on my account since I was leaving the state for a while. Came back six months later to find that they were still charging me (by then over several hundred dollars). Went into the office to ask why they did this and apparently the girl I spoke to never actually put in the hold request and was no longer with the company. Asked for a refund, she said she couldnt though I saw the option on her screen. Said there was no proof that I cancelled. Asked her to look over my log for the past six months to show I havent even been in the building. Even though I hadnt she said no refund. Now in a dispute with them because they cant hire people who remember to push enter on a keyboard. On top of that I never received a notification that my monthly due was going only 3 months after joining. Switching to Planet Fitness where its 1/3 the cost and I can bring people with me for free.
Newer. Well Staffed. Feels like a smallish shower area for the facility size. All around great facility
I wanted to get to know the YMCA before joining, to my surprise I received a 3 day pass to check it out. I have used my 3 passes and cant wait to get the membership! This place is awesome and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good work out, sports, fun or a nice relaxing swim ending in a jacuzzi. Definitely worth it and very well equipped, beats other memberships by FAR!
Polite professional personnel at the desk....and upstairs...clean tidy environment
Love this YMCA; from the pool to the equipment, I enjoy everything. My kids love it here just as much as I do.
The YMCA is quite nice and has alot to offer the only negative is some of the people who use the gym around 1030 am and 1130 am they either dont wipe the machines after use or the fact that the same ones never put away the weights they use. Than there is the issue of some people using multiple stations at one time. They act like they own the gym, I wish I could blame the male patrons. But it seems that its some of the women patrons. There just seems to be a lack of gym etiquette by some. The one positive is the staff at the YMCA they are both helpful and polite. The atmosphere is great here.
Staff is very helpful and upbeat! Very clean environment ( including locker rooms!) Patrons are polite and friendly!Hot tub goes down often, but staff does everything to accommodate you during the down time.
I am only giving a one star because there is no other option. I have come to the YMCA so my daughter can do swim lessons and we have a pool to go to and other activities to do. This YMCA seems to follow the rules for some people, but not all, so of course the ones they dont follow the rules for are gonna say this is a great place. Right now this is my only option because of location and price I am very disappointed .It is sad that my daughter cant really do anything at this ymca until she is 7 years old. I have talked to directors and they dont seem to care. The only one that did care was drew who is no longer there. They dont do anything to please you they would rather just take your money or lose a customer.
The child watch is a huge disappointment. We pay a good amount of money every month and I would like to know while I am working out that I have nothing to worry about when it comes to my children but that is not the case here.We recently became members and we put our youngest in child watch. There were babies and 7 year olds in the same little room with a crazy amount of screaming children and only two workers who were not overly friendly. My baby was left in the car seat the entire time also.I have worked in child care for many years and this is not how this program should be ran. I am now wanting to drive out a little to another Y to see if there child watch is better. Please make some changes so that the parents that are paying into the facility can workout worry free.
I love how clean n friendly every1 is the aqua zumba is excellent its so much fun. I didnt know u could have so much fun while exercising
Clean,friendly, and helpful.
I have been coming to the YMCA for many years. I have always had a good experience, the staff is helpful. Currently my boys are taking swim lessons and they really enjoy it.
This is a good facility with very friendly people for there staff. I have been working out here for 3 years and love it. Also there child watch is top notch.
Brandon (zumba) and Vanessa (body pump) are the reason I keep my membership. Their classes are always positive vibes, high energy, and a great workout. Never let them go. They are awsome and really help you lose weight and feel good about yourself.
People are friendly. My kids enjoy going to child watch and the indoor jungle gym. I highly recommend this ymca if you have kids as they have a lot to offer.
The swimming lessons are great. The pool is perfect for kids because it has a graduated, sloping floor. The workout area is bare-bones, and there is no power rack. I guess they dont really want power lifting to be going on there, but it is a problem. Downtown has a power rack.
Havent been here lately. The equipment is fine, varied and modern. The pool is lovely. The Christianity can get in the way of things. I used to bring Discover Magazine to read on the bike. One staff member would throw out all the books and magazines, though, that were science oriented. I asked, and found that this was not policy, but I watched her do it with my own eyes. This extended into yoga, too: the instructors were not allowed to evem mention in passing the Indian names of the poses, or any of the mental work, because consevative Christians would take this badly. The more important problem was that it was just too crowded to get anything done. The running track is a lifesaver for folks with knee issues, if only it was possible to run a lap without getting jammed up by walkers taking up both lanes or even going the wrong way. Weights: just too many people at all hours, sometimes literally van loads.
Do not recommend this place! Staff is unfriendly and unprofessional! They look like they hate their job. I Had a chemical reaction first day, called questioning chemicals used to clean equipment and told no chemicals used for cleaning. I had to ask for a manager in person to get info needed. Surprised thought they would be more helpful when it came to health issues! Ive only been here for 1 month and it seems weekly there is something wrong with hot tub, lap pool, and kids pool. Very unsatisfied! When my kids swim lessons are finished I will not return here!
Its a very nice looking location. It would be better if they had ellipticals that actully worked and were up to date. All the ellipticals I have ever used (every single one) has loud noticable kinks. Making it difficult to have a full 30mins on the machines. Also I think with how much the memberships are ($150. Fpp) they should at least put more money into their equipment.
Sometimes the pool is clean sometimes its pretty grody depending on the time of the year. whent theyre in the summer lots of kids. pool was so grody you couldnt see two feet in front of you. kids everywhere in your lap Lanes nobody controlling them. going to start telling people no you cannot swim with me in my lap Lane. tired of people jumping in on my and not telling me
Nice place, fun environment and I always get a good workout. However, wish they would separate the check in area from customer service area. Sometimes i come in and cant even reach the check in area cause so many people are blocking the gate and talking to the workers at the counter. Also, instead of being worried so much about people slamming weights, I wish they would enforce the rules on the running track. Families of 5 will be walking on the track blocking the whole thing, then runners have to slow down until they move out of the way. It clearly says dont walk side by side but people always do it and nothing is ever dont about it. Lastly, the weight area is too cluttered, needs more space.
This place is absolutely terrible! worst staff I have ever encountered in any gym, raise rates without telling you, front desk people are a joke when it comes to ANY concern, last but not least (though this isnt 100% their fault), treadmills, ellipticals, and racquetball court are always full, weight selection is shoddy at best, and the pool is disgusting. Will never join this gym again and you shouldnt either.
Super Disappointed! I was so excited to get up and go swim to this morning. With a 3 month old, a two year old, and a full time job, finding time to squeeze in just 30 minutes for my own self care is a miracle. I was so excited getting up this morning to get to swim. I even double checked the website to make sure the pool opened at 5:30, meaning I did actually have time to go while the babies were still sleeping, before the start time of my normal routine. I was so proud of myself for making a commitment to me and following throughI get there, swim 2 laps and am told they have to close the pool because a life gaurd is a no call no show. I litterly cried from the disappointment. How un-professional. I was told they might still be on vacation? How does it happen that a manager doesnt confirm someones vacation time before making a schedule? They list integrity as a value on their wall, Im sorry but there is no integrity in employees and managers not following basic business practices of making sure that services are open and available to paying coustomers when they are supposed to be.I will say that the life gaurd that was there and the other Gentelman at the front desk were very kind and patient with my disappointment. I could have done without the eye rolls from the young woman working the front desk, they were not helpful at all.
Be sure to not take any of your own floatation devices with you, its not coast guard approved. They forget to mention that to you at the front desk. The fun pool, kiddy pool metal jungle gym thing, was so rusty. I hope no ones kid has got hurt yet..
This rating is in regards to the spring outdoor soccer program and not the ymca as a whole. My child has participated in a number of youth sports for the younger age group and it has been plesent. But this year with soccer it was the opposite. There were way to many kids that the coaches spent more time keep them together than actually doing anything. Each week was wasted with a lot of standing around to where the kids looked bored. Previous years we had coach Ben and he was amazing with them he interacted, learn names, and actually tought them new things in the sport. The coaches this round had no real interest in teaching them anything they did the same two things every week and the kids barley focused. It took them 15 minutes each week to even start doing anything with them. Over all the program has potential and could use some major improvement. Mainly splitting the younger kids up in smaller teams or groups for a better coach to kid ratio.
This is a great place to workout and for swimming I have been coming to the y since I was 5 and I am 13 now.
They are greedy they charge 100 plus to be a member here and now they are going against God just sad cant even come to get a shower here anymore even if you pay for it hey peoe who work her go read proverbs 14:31 and realize your mistake i now rebuke this whole company in the name and on the lord jesus christ blood amen have a good day and my God bless you for your actions
Very clean and well kept! The staff is very friendly too! Just wish the water slide was open more often!
This place has been great for me, which is why I’m giving it a 5 star. However, a few bad apples have attempted to damage my reputation based off their own insecurities. Things I will address here, in the publics eye. The ymca values are Respect, Caring, Honesty and Responsibility. Unfortunately some of their employees aren’t held to their standards.Let’s talk about the rumors and slander employees are allowed to spread here:Caleb and William(lifeguards) have had an issue with me since I started coming here. They claim that I hit on their life guards and flirt with every woman in the building. The problem with that, my degenerative friends, is that I speak to everyone regardless of age or gender. I’m social and this is suppose to be a community center meant to meet new people. There are a few other life guards who have an issued with me but I won’t mention their names. The truth is; Caleb and William lack the confidence to have conversations with strangers so they project that insecurity onto me to damage my reputation and feel better about themselves. They are severely insecure. Having spoken to dozens of other members I know that these two are disliked by a large portion of regulars who come here; They speak down to members, power trip and spread rumors. Funny, I know - they’re just life guards, but believe themselves to be in a position of power. These two do not uphold the ymca core values. Respect, Caring, Honesty and responsibility. As well, what they’re doing in legal terms is called defamation. One of the female employees here has been crushing on me hard since we met. She recently filed an incident report stating that she feels uncomfortable around me after asking about a hairstyle she was wearing and that I purposely knocked a bunch of towels on the ground in the gym area. They have cameras all over the place yet she still decided to lie. She certainly didnt find it offensive when she was invading my personal space. She can’t have me, and she knows it. Ive been avoiding her like the bubonic plague for the last few weeks. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. This woman has a history of lying about coworkers and members, yet it will still be her word against mine. She does not uphold the ymca core values. Respect, Caring, Responsibility and Honesty. I won’t mention her name as I’ve gotten use to women over reacting when faced with rejection.People like these three make it hard to be a good person. I can see now why there is so much selfishness and hate in the modern age. This is a community center that doesn’t support socializing with people in your community. Employees will spread rumors, damage your reputation and nothing will be done about it. They have a problem with people like me, but when someone comes here and starts yelling at someone at the front desk, they still allow that person to enter and use the amenities offered. The ymca itself doesn’t uphold it’s own values; Content with allowing people to be treated like garbage for a few bucks. If you decide to come here, keep to yourself and you’ll have a great time using everything they have to offer at a cheap price. Unfortunately if you are the social type, you will be treated as an monster for doing nothing but talking to people.Keep your head down, God forbid you be who you are. There is much more to be addressed but Im out of room.
Pool area doesnt have arm floats for you to use for the babies.(even tho every other y does) the pool was completely empty when I went, and since the lifeguard didnt have nothing to do, she harassed me. Asked me a million one questions that were none of her business. Wouldnt let me take a picture of the kids. Then she started standing by us as if she was monitoring our every move. And then had the audacity to ask me if I have a membership? And if I was the parent of the kids i was with. I had to leave !
Nice place
I use to work at this branch, overall I would say people were happy give it a 50/50.Most Parents were happy and pleased; sorry to the lady who had a bad experience, I know as a past staff member most of the fellow employees strived and upheld beyond their duties and then some, but when and if things were about to get over ratio, we had to take the proper measures in maintaining and adhering to regulations. Like I said most parents came in happy and were satisfied. Now as for working here and under the supervisor I had, thats another story. If this specific person would have been a bit more flexible and understanding of circumstancesand just life coming up in general, things would have been good, but it just felt like walking on egg shells at some points and stressful.Overall This place isnt bad...they have been making TONS of improvements, from what Ive heard and seen. So base your own opinion and dont go off everyone elses...only reason I gave a two and not a three star is only because of the work situation, as for overall I liked the facility for the most part.
Nice facility. Staff was friendly and let us right in for the volleyball night on Fridays! Only con is that its a long drive if youre coming from the north end.
Very friendly staff, beautiful building, great equipment vert clean. My complaint is that when on the floor working out, another patron is walking around having a conversation on his cell phone, was very distracting, and when leaving i asked the lady at the desk, if there are any rules about cell phone use on the workout floor, she stated no, but there should be, she also made a comment that women dont rate high at this location, very u comfortable, will go back to the downtown location.
Rocio, in charge of signing up for membership, was not helpful. I am considered low income but since I dont get food stamps she said I dont qualify for the financial assistance program. I did not understand and she provided no explanation. I will be signing up with a different YMCA because I was told she was wrong.
I joined last week and am enjoying the facility! Everyone I have interacted with from the office staff, the kids club, front desk, trainers, cleaners, life guards and group instructors have all been friendly and provided great customer service.
I give this Y a 5 stars because they have TONS of fun things for my kids to do. I do, however have a complaint against the swim class instructor. Every Y I visit has toys ect that my kiddos can play with. Tonight while visiting this location my daughter noticed a bucket of toys that were not being played with. She tried to get one dive ring and was told she could not use it. Apparently the toys were there for the swim class. Okay, no problem. If they are being used in the class I get it, however, the swim instructors were just sitting around not using any of the toys. My daughter politely asked if she could use just one of the 10 or more toys they had and were not using. She was turned down while we continued to watch them not being used. I am a full paying patron. We do not get any type of discount to be members of the Y. I find it rediculous that we pay over 100 bucks a month only to be told we cant use the toys in the facility. We usually go to the Memorial location or the Briargate location and have never had any issues. Shame on you Kahleeya (spelling) for being so rediculous.
I don’t know how other ymca’s work but this one is ridiculous. If you have kids I highly recommend not coming here. They consistently do not follow their own policy’s for where kids can be and what they can do. Or they make up thier own policy to fit the situation and try and enforce it for a few days then go back on it. If you don’t have kids I’d recommend going to a real gym with better equipment and no hassle of thier silly policies like shoes for deadlifting, no chalk, no bags etc
Manager is great! Inside and out this place is amazing.
Love the quality of care for childwatch and the multiple options for cardio!! Great place to ease your way back into working out but always have a challenge :-)
Used to go there after school and it was fun still go there sometimes.
Def. Dont recommend going to this place.... had a horrible experience. Was just trying to find a friendly place to try out. And they wouldnt even let me visit the phecinity and try it out unless I gave them $10 for the one visit...defenanantly an unprofessional kid running the show. I wish I could just give zero stars.!
We have been apart of the fam ten years in a row!!
Staff very friendly, informative, always smiling
I love everything except the weight lifting area is not very well equipped, and the treadmills are always full !
I love the ymca the zumba class is the best I signed up and it was the best it helps u work out in zumba :-):-) ;-)
I go there everyday to swim rock climb exersise I come with friends and we all love it at the YMCA. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
If you have a significant other don’t let them go to this Y alone. The female employees like to take the male members home for extra curricular activities whether they are married with children or not.
Answer the dam phone
Love their swim programs!
A beautiful facility, very clean and friendly staff!
Everyone is so welcoming!
Lifeguard with glasses (male) was a bother he made it his point to bother me about using cell to take a picture of my own child, lifeguard was not successful with explaining why he mumbled and walked away.
Great place with a great staff!
I love it...
Good place
Love this place
