I would sign up but they have a hidden $49 yearly charge and I cannot afford to have $49 randomly drafted from my account in one lump sum! That’s groceries!!! Split those charges up. After COVID I dont know anyone who can fit that huge amount in their budget. Then it said 12.99 a month, if I pay by credit card, but then the contract printed $14.06.
I actually wanted to sign up with this gym for a year, but wow many people have warned me about how difficult they make it for you to cancel afterwards. Id like to save myself the trouble. These reviews are also very reassuring of that decision that Im sure strayed many others like me away. Overall, decent facility though and not too full of people.
I haven’t been the only person that hasn’t had their account canceled when asked. my roommate and I moved out of college station and we both get charged monthly. I tried to cancel my account on numerous occasions but no matter what picture i send it “doesn’t meet their qualifications” of course it doesn’t, they want to charge me every month! They will NOT cancel your account if you need them to, but the funny thing is one time they cancelled my membership ship without me even asking to. i miss those days. awful gym as is, go to golds. it’s worth the $15 extra a month, i promise.
Like so many others, my experience on the customer service end was very negative. I was nearing the end of my 2 year contract and had been calling in to request cancellation as the contract approached its end. The front desk continued to provide different answers You cant request a stop until youve reached the end of the contract You have to come inI had already moved out of the area months ago and they make it next to impossible to discontinue contracts so I decided to just pay it out. When trying to communicate that I did not want to re-up my contact, the the front desk first told me that I had to come in. I politely explained that I was unwilling to fly back in to town to request that they simply stop charging for a contract that was now complete. I fulfilled my end of the agreement and simply wanted it to be over. Second, they will give you an 800 number that actually redirects you to other Trufit gyms across the state. The front desk at these other gyms confirmed that they get lots of calls from people trying to cancel but there was nothing they could do about it. They arent responsible for the scummy tactics of another regional gym. Finally, they give you an email. I had to email twice before I got a response. And despite the fact that I had already completed my 2 year commitment, I was told that they were going to bill me for an additional month. I requested a refund as this was totally unprofessional, however, I was informed there would be no refund... because they needed a 30 day advance. Despite me submitting multiple requests to the front desk months in advance. And despite the fact that I had already completed my 2 year commitment. They dont seem to care that they had been collecting for months while I lived in a different city. All businesses need to meet a bottom line, unfortunately some dont care what it takes to get there.
I started coming here with a 5 day free pass and after speaking to the manager I was able to get a membership for two weeks until I moved out of town. The manager was very friendly and understanding as well as very willing to help. The gym has a decent variety of equipment and it is rarely crowded outside of the peak hours from 4-6. It is a great deal for the price.
I stopped by yesterday to discuss their membership options for this summer, the staff was incredibly respectful and the facility is amazing. I spoke with a rep, Ernie, who was honest and down to earth. We discussed the membership plans and after they even gave me a guest pass for me to try it out while I was there! Fantastic customer service, awesome facility, 10/10 recommend to anyone in College Station looking for a new gym.
Be warned they are scammers. I signed up for the month to month membership because you can cancel anytime and Im moving soon but once you complete signing up youre still enrolled into a 12 month contract. If you miss a payment theyll send a 3rd party collection agency which also negatively impacts your credit score. The payment is not $29.99, its like $32.99 for platinum and they promise many things but this location doesnt have any of the things offered like a sauna, pool, turf, basketball court, etc. Some of the equipment didnt work and a few others had broken pads. Either avoid this company completely or at least this location and go to Bryan which i hear has more to offer.
Great value for the price, spacious and plenty of equipment to get in your daily exercise. My girlfriend is really appreciative of the women only section as its not common place in other gyms. Will be coming back to this gym. Their staff members are really nice as well.
Gym stuff is friendly but their membership contract has many catches. They show you 29.99 per month is best option not 9.99 plus 70 dollars start fee. It’s fair I would spend 170 dollars more for a new open gym. It turns out 32.99 for credit card when you fill out all information and ready to pay off. 29.99 is for debt card and I don’t think you will do that after reviewing their feedback here. They didnt even mention additional annual fee (looks like 50 dollars ) there. I’m not a member there and won’t judge their equipment and circumstances.
One of the worst displays of “customer service” I have ever experienced, and that says a lot coming from a person who can put up with a lot. Completely unprofessional. Pick a different gym. Period.
TruFit on Southwest Pkwy is a good gym overall but it lacks in several areas. One critical area that needs to be addressed is the cleanliness of the facility. Out of all the TruFit’s in B/CS, the TruFit on Southwest Pkwy always has the dirtiest floors. I’ll workout at night, then come back the next morning or afternoon to see the same dirt on the floors as the night before. This gym has good equipment, but there are several broken machines and equipment that are missing parts. This has been the case for weeks. If you look at the ceiling fans, they are all covered in dust as well. There’s even a whole corner of the gym that is dark because the light bulbs have been out for weeks. Other than these set backs, the gym plays good music, has many amenities, and is very diverse in its crowd (which is a good thing).
Great equipment with every machine you could need for a full workout, and overall a great place to workout. Ernie was especially helpful in getting me set up at TruFit and overall the staff is great. Definitely recommend working out at this location!
The staff and equipment is okay but honestly I got a 1 day free pass at the golds gym across the street and the staff was extremely nice and welcoming. The equipment was super nice and clean.
Best Gym in CStat. People are always nice and helpful over here
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. All the bad reviews of them being scammers are 100% true. I disputed charges with my bank as a result of breach of contract on Tru Fits end, and won the dispute with my bank and got my money back, and then the gym ended up charging me double a week later! Ive been lied to, ignored, and got hung up on today! This is THE WORST place ever. Management pretends to care but they really dont. If you want to go to a gym where the management cares about you and values you as a customer, go somewhere else.
We have been trying to cancel my sons membership for over a month now and they simply will not accept that he has moved 3 hours away from College Station. They are requesting a credit card statement, debit card statement (both highly unethical), insurance billing statement, car insurance statement, phone bill or utility bill and all must be in his name and at the location he has relocated.1. He moved back to his permanent home with me.2. He is still on both my car insurance and cell phone accounts.3. He resides at home and does not have any utilities in his name.4. He does not have a credit card in his name only as he does not have a job. What does a person have to do to get rid of this place and when does a 30 day notice simply not suffice?
This is the most predatory business I have ever had the misfortune of signing a contract with. I called them two months before my annual contract would expire to let them know I did not want to continue after the term ended. They informed I could not do this ahead of time and would have to come in person once the term was over (DURING COVID). When I came in person they told they had changed their policy and I couldnt cancel in person, and would have to call a number from a business card they gave me. I tried for three days to contact the number on the business card and was always sent to voicemail saying I would receive a call back. It wasnt until the fourth day of calling in a row that someone finally answered the phone and walked me through cancelling my account. They informed me there would be one final monthly charge of membership at the end of the month which I agreed to just for the sake of being done with this horrible company. Six days after the final payment was processed I was charged an additional $90 without any explanation. I am currently in the process of working with my bank to cancel these charges and am filing a complaint with the better business bureau and contacting a law firm to make sure they stop STEALING money from me. Their facility is not worth this hell.
Ernie came through big, super helpful. I travel a lot for work and it’s not always easy finding a facility to meet my needs. Love this place
Colton, Ernie and jenna have been really helpful, They made sure I was Satisfied with thier gym.
So far so good. No issues
This is our go-to gym. There every morning 7 days a week. Positive feedback: Spacious gym with good temperature control (big thing getting us from Golds gym), friendly staff. 2-part negative feedback.Negative feedback(-1 star): The cables and D-clips are becoming a regular outage like McDonalds ice-cream machines. They break (D-links get lost) every few weeks which I am OK with, but they spend weeks not being fixed. Seriously guys, I can fix those cables for you, and I can buy stainless-steel D-clips and zip-tie them in-place like you used to.Negative feedback(-1 star): The cushions on the machines are getting worn out, essentially crumbling apart. Makes it gross and painful to put elbows/legs/bodyparts on the machines. Imagine leg-extensions having to put the back of your legs on a grimy cushion that cannot be cleaned.Of the 2 negatives I think the cables and D-clips are silly fixes. A front desk guy could figure it out. In a week or two I will start probing if I can fix it for you. Please guys. This makes us think twice before we recommend yall to our friends.
One of the worst experiences I have had with a company. Terrible customer service, poor communication, had trainers not show up for scheduled training sessions, and canceling my membership was an even more disappointing process. Don’t spend your money here.
Absolutely horrendous support and professionalism when it comes to cancelling and/or changing plans. When I had signed up, I was told that my contract is for 6 months, after which I can break my contract any time I want to. Now that I want to downgrade my plan (not even cancel), they want to charge me 50$ for it. YES, 50$ FOR CHANGING YOUR PLAN!! So, I was either lied to initially by the person who signed me up, or the present group of people handling this. Either way, please dont be tricked like me. I feel totally cheated, and surprised as to how someone can be so unprofessional for just 50$.Edit: Ernie helped me a lot to smoothly end the membership.
Ernie’s customer service was very accommodating and helpful. The gym is well equipped and kept clean. 10/10
Very nice gym, clean and has a lot of equipment
Ernie was extremely helpful the entire time I was there. Had a great workout experience here.
I joined this gym because they open earlier than the Longmire location and they have a girls only workout room that is often less busy than the main workout room. However, this is the second time in the past 3 months I’ve shown up at 5:30 only to find the gym is closed with customers sitting out in the parking lot waiting for someone to show up to open it for us. Today I waited there and called the Longmire location when they opened at 6 to see if they knew anything about why they weren’t open yet and I was told there’s no reason they shouldn’t be open yet, as they were supposed to open at 5. It would be great if TruFit would hire more reliable employees who can actually make it to work on time to open up for their customers. It’s super frustrating to waste an hour of my morning between commute time and waiting to see if someone will show up only to go right back home. I definitely will not be renewing my membership here.
The gym either has a broken HVAC system or they refuse to use the heater in the cold and the AC in the heat. The equipment is broken for months on end and is almost never fixed. Some of the handles are so badly frayed that they will most likely break if someone were to use too much weight with them on the cable machines. Though you don’t have to worry about it cause the cable machines have been broken for six months. When you ask the staff to get it fixed, they say the parts are on back order. 6 months of back order is definitely not realistic. I order equipment through China during a shortage and get it faster than that. Also some of the parts are simple things you could pick up at Home Depot like carabiner clips or pins.I have multiple friends that tried cancelling their membership. They were charged for months afterward and were even told they would have to do it “in person” while the gym was closed during covid.I personally only chose this gym due to the location near my home. I’m hoping this company dies and leaves whatever selfish POS in bankruptcy. Because that is what is deserved for running a business this poorly.
Ive been to a lot of gyms over the past couple decades, and I think this is definitely one of the more pleasant ones to work out (compared to similarly classed gyms). Machines and facilities are bright and clean, decent selection of equipment for most things one would want to work on, and not obnoxiously crowded like some gyms. The initiation fee seems kinda high, but aside from that their membership plans otherwise seem reasonably priced.
Ernie was very helpful with accommodating new guests! Very nice facility!
How do you justify taking money from a minor and have them sign a contract which in TX you cannot do!
Attitude, smart mouth supervisor, after you Cancel membership you still get charged. Would not recommend.
Nice gym. Has a good variety of free weights and machines.
Review for management attention *Please fix the broken equipment, many machines have been broke for some time now with no repairs having been made. The pulley machines center of the weight area are in need of new carabiner clips for the attachments. Often time is spent waiting on someone to finish just to use their clip for the needed attachment.More than happy to remove or upgrade review when things have been fixed. Other than that a great place to workout! Thanks
Absolutely terrible experience and terrible customer service when trying to cancel my membership. I have had a membership with this Trufit for over two years and was a member at another location prior to that. Since Covid I have not been to the gym, meaning they have already received around $375 from me without me using the facility. When I tried to cancel the first two times I was told how to go about it differently each time. When I was able to finally speak to member maintenance after calling for the third time I was told that in order to cancel I have to pay the next 30 days of fees, which includes a gym improvement fee. When explaining that it sounds incredibly unreasonable to make me pay a yearly fee for a membership I want to cancel I was told there was nothing they could do and I needed to contact the GM of the Trufit on Texas Ave. When I called the first time I was told they weren’t available and that they would leave a message. I never heard back and called two days later to be told that there’s nothing that can be done. Overall it was a terrible experience and I urge others to choose other places who have much better customer service and won’t just take your money.
Good gym but just be super careful signing up, its basically impossible to get out of any of the contracts and personally I ended up getting screwed because i couldn’t afford it anymore but they still billed me since I cant cancel and I was late on rent for like 3 months in a row. Apparently you literally having no money is not a “good enough” reason. They didnt care. Now im stucking paying for something I dont even use, since now that I work extra hours I dont have time.
Had an amazing experience at this location with the General Manager Ernie! Staff is friendly, equipment is clean, and so many different machines!
Poor quality as well. As soon as you walk in you can look up and see the black edges of the fan spinning where the establishment has not cleaned them. I asked the front desk person what the process was to put in a work order and get them cleaned. Like a deer in headlights, she said she didnt even know how to do that or if they even cleaned them. I about laughed. She said she would pass the word along. Crazy to think a machine that circulates air though the whole building isnt getting cleaned. Not looking for a general response from jpelt like all the other reviews. Just get it done. Everyone can see everyday that this review is ignored when the blades arent up to standard.
Very poor customer service when it comes to acquiring the proper information to manage your account. Difficult to reach management when trying to find accurate answers to your questions. Made improper charges to my account and put forth no effort in helping me resolve the issue. If you MUST go to a TruFit gym, make sure to take all of your questions, comments and concerns to the Villa Maria location. Personally, I would take my business elsewhere.
So excited to get back into the gym! They gave me a fantastic tour!
I loved this gym while I lived in college station. But it has been over a year since I moved and they will not cancel my membership. I have provided proof of address change and was told I wouldn’t be charged anymore. They stopped charging me in January when I canceled and then started charging me again in August, I am being told I never provided proof of address change? I have sent them the proof multiple times. They won’t reimburse me the money they owe me, they don’t respond to my emails, and they’re still going to charge me for December. Apparently I’m not the only one dealing with this. Y’all need to fix your system or you’ll be taken to court. Also, reply to my emails like a professional company would do.
Do yourself a favor and sign up somewhere else. For two years they have overcharged me. I’ve since moved, and they still will not let me cancel even though my contract ended a year ago. I’ve not gotten a response from a manager in close to a month since I’ve requested to cancel. Not worth the hassle required when you inevitably have to cancel your membership.
Oh, TruFit, good luck.Ive tried to call for months. MONTHS.Today, I received an email about payments for March and May. Had you answered your calls in March... AND April... AND May, youd know my wife and I cancelled.Looks like youre finally working again. Congratulations and best of luck receiving payment.Send it to a creditor. Ill be happy to tell them how poorly you run your accounting operation.
Very nice gym, helpful and friendly employees
DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE!!! They will steal yo ur money and lie to you about being about to cancel whenever you move. Even if you have shown literal proof of your address change along with paid bills, they will lie and say it is not enough proof. They will lie and trick you into signing up for a contract that they will decline to cancel. Support a local business instead of this shady snake of a business.
I have tried contacting this gym for 6 months trying to cancel my membership. After 3 emails (never a response) and 4 phone calls I finally was told I needed to email them again with proof of my new address being 180 miles away, I have emailed them, they are still trying to charge me and have not canceled my membership and have never contacted me back. Absolutely terrible. I have called corporate and they say, contact the gym. These guys are impossible and do not know what to do.The OWNER has replied to my comment, I finally got one email from their gym, I requested the balance on my account to be waived because I have been trying to cancel for 6 months, never heard a thing, not even from the owner. BUT they have charged my account AGAIN! I have emailed another 4 times in the past two weeks with NO RESPONSE!
Update: I sent an email to the email in the comment before posting the review and forwarded it back to them after. Never got a response. All the 1 star reviews are correct.----Months of back and fourth after getting charges months after I cancelled. 10+ calls and 2 emails, still no resolution.Do not waste your time or money here.
Overall great gym for the price. Nice equipment and clean locker rooms. Very affordable. Always friendly staff.
They have done much better lately on keeping the facilities clean.
If you love wasting your money and having it taken from you without ANY idea where its going, then I could not recommend TruFit any more! I tried contacting their billing department for WEEKS only to be told she is only there from 10am - 12pm. Well given that I work an 8-5, I never had a chance to call and the few times I did, she wasnt there. I then had to go to corporate billing who also took me weeks to get ahold of. The trainers are nice and the gym itself is really nice, but Im telling you right now that if you sign up with them GOOD LUCK with your finances.
I havent been to a ton of gyms especially in larger towns and relatively new to the fitness lifestyle. I can tell you though that I was in town for work and decided to check this place out because it looked large and it was nearby. I can tell you Im greatful that I did. I would say it is a state-of-the art facility and the staff are excellent to work with. They gave my friends and I a full tour and also helped us with a plan that worked for us as we were only going to be in Texas a short while. I highly recommend this establishment.
I would give 0 stars if I could. Since June, I have had billing issues and no one called to collect payment. TruFit sent texts as communication which is unprofessional and unreliable. CALL ME. I tried to call the number sent via text and received a busy signal and replied to the text and did not receive a response. Therefore, I went to the TruFit website and clicked contact us and sent a message to the district manager, Jimmy Harlow. I never received a response and was told that since I did not proof of this correspondence, they could not verify this. I used their message system so it did not send me an email confirmation. Then, I received a call from Sheila who was very pleasant and initially helpful. However, she said that because I couldnt prove I contacted anyone, Id have to call the billing department. I also sent Shelia a screenshot of the text that I sent back when I was told there was a problem. I called the billing department, updated my card information, and THOUGHT they were going to resolve my account. They STILL failed to pay my bill and my next bill was due a few days later. I asked if this would be an issue for the next payment due the following week and was told no by the billing department. However, I received ANOTHER text saying they could not draft my payment. I have had money in my account every single time. I am beyond frustrated with all of this and NEVER have outstanding dues. I want this resolved ASAP. I received a text Saturday, August 8th, and called the number instantly. However, they are not open on weekends, but I left a voicemail saying I needed a callback ASAP. Today is August 22nd and I have yet to receive a call from anyone, BUT RECEIVED ANOTHER TEXT! I filled a BBB complaint and they still have not reached out to me or the BBB to resolve the issue. Im trying to give them $$$ and want to cancel now.
Im a competitive bodybuilder. I come here to pose in the studio. Its hella dope that they support bodybuilding like they so here.
Make false advertisements on their website to get people to come in and then don’t honor what is said in writing. Just like a car dealership advertising a price to get you to come in and then not honoring it. Very shady and actually illegal. Can’t wait for their copied and pasted, disingenuous response to a negative comment. Although not surprised... right in line with their “business model.”
If I could give this gym negative stars I would. Unless you dont care if they keep charging your card months after you quit DO NOT JOIN. I cancelled back in May and I just got charged again!!! Ive called several times now asking for the manager and all times they have left a message for her...she never got back to me. Im about to have to drive a couple hours to settle this in person since no one seems competent enough to do it over the phone. Super unorganized, rude, and inefficient. AVOID THIS GYM AT ALL COSTS!!!!!
Good place to workout. A little packed at certain times now that students are back in town.
I had an outstanding experience at this gym . It was clean, professional, and well organized . The locker rooms are well-kept and the machines were new. I came during what most would consider to be peak hours, and it still was not too crowded to get in a good work out . Most importantly, I had a great experience with the gentleman who helped get me started, Gabriel Allen. He’s a great professional, and the gym is lucky to have him! If possible, I will be adding a second membership based on my experience with him alone . 5 stars!
0 enforcement of mask policy. Whole sign at the door that says masks are required and must stay on. See more people in here without masks than with them. Really wished that rule was enforced.
Just like home! Its where you want to be!
Nice clean gym but HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT! I was a member here for over a year before I graduated and moved. Since my move, seven months ago, the managers have yet to help me end my membership and continue to charge my account each month. I have contacted them multiple times over the past few months to try and speak to a manger and have only been brushed off by their front desk employees who said the managers were “too busy” to speak to me and resolve my problems?!? I have already spoken to their corporate office and they said I have to communicate with the gym in College Station to receive a refund for the past few months. Now, their corporate office is sending me emails threatening to send me to collections if I don’t pay my outrageous balance and no mangers will respond to my emails or answer my calls.Don’t get a membership here. As a student living in this college town, I feel like I was taken advantage of and conned out of way more money than I could afford at the time.
Trey and the General Manager at this location are doing a top notch service. They both took care of a item that I wanted and got it ordered. This gym has all the equipment that one would need to do any verify of exercises and any levels of goal to accomplice it. The service again is top notch and the gym is clean. They offer service if you are just beginning to join a gym and are new! I recommend anyone who is looking to join a gym to stop at this location and see for yourself!
We started going to this gym in January 2020. As you know Covid-19 happened, we tried to get cancellation forms from the staff for programs we can’t use. All they could do was point fingers at each other. No one would help. The charges on this place is absurd even when you are not using their program. They charged me the first day they reopened. Thanks for the great customer service 👎.
Amazing equipment. Super clean, plenty of space. Friendly staff. Super helpful and will answer any questions. One of the best gyms I have been to and I’ve traveled all over
I came here due to a police training and decided to visit this facility. This facility is AMAZING... from the friendly staff to the clean plentiful equipment and facilities. I more than recommend this gym to anyone who needs one.
Very amazing gym!! The amenities are perfect, more than I could ask for. The staff is phenomenal and I truly enjoyed my visit. I will be a member for life!!
Had an opportunity to visit the College Station Tru Fit gym with my daughter and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great service. Down-to-earth, helpful people.Instructor Lauren is patient, upbeat, and provides modifications to satisfy any fitness level. Additionally, Staff Daniel is a good looking and a sweet gentleman.
Very nice gym but very sly, and back stabbing on membership charging. I “canceled” my membership a month ago but am now being charged 2 extra months and having my credit score reduced by collectors all because of this. Highly recommend sticking to big professional chains, or stick to a small hometown ran gym, so almost anywhere else in Bryan/Cstat, .
10/10 staff, awesome grassroots gym feel! Only been lifting here for 3 days now and its fantastic.
Tru-fit is a TRASH company. From their cheesy sales team to their confused management, I am absolutely done with this gym. They have stolen money from me time and time again, and now I am having to spend my limited free time to try to figure out how to get it back. Although they have talented personal trainers and a nice facility, it is not worth what I have been put through since joining Tru-fit. Every other month it is some kind of random charge that I have to call about to figure out what is going on. When giving me an explanation why, I will be told different things by different staff members. It is almost never a straight forward answer. I want to advise you all to stay away from this gym. I’ve never had problems like this at any other gym in the past. Booooo! 👎
Very nice and open layout. I would definitely become a member if I lived in the area. They were very nice and helpful. The gym was much bigger inside than I had imagined. I usually go to Gold’s when I’m in town but I’ll be coming here from now on.
Nice place to workout lots of room
I agree with all negative reviews regarding membership cancellation. After two weeks, multiple emails, and several phone calls ending with the promise of a phone call back, I finally called and spoke to a manager who said she couldn’t help me cancel my membership or refund the charges to my account. When gyms were allowed to open for COVID, I was immediately charged an extra gym improvement fee (which I was not made aware of when signing up) and my membership dues for the month. I had already moved out of the state so I have no chance of using the “improved gym”. There was no email sent regarding the resuming of dues or notification of the additional fee. There is a reason every Trufit location has an F rating on the better business bureau website. Great job trying to cover your COVID losses by stealing from the wallets of college students.
Great Facility! Glad to have this opportunity to workout here. Will definitely returnDavid R.
Don’t ever move and try and cancel your membership even after your contract was up. The keep billing you and won’t stop until you pay the past due so they just keep racking it up. It’s definitely a better business bureau issue for sure
Why am I paying for something that I dont like? TruFit is a scam. I tried to cancel my membership and didnt mind paying for the two months I wouldnt be using the gym. I was told to come back. I honestly dont understand their way of doing things. Its nice but just a weird vibe. Only went twice.-Update 6/2/20-I was just contacted by an associate from TruFit and was thanked for my business and was told they were sorry to see me go. I really didnt expect this from the reviews that I had read and their complications with trying to cancel the membership. Thanks TruFit for making this way more easy than I was making it out to be.
I was very impressed with TruFit! Walking in, I was amazed by the clean and organized areas. They were very helpful. Gabriel from sales was extremely helpful. He answered all my questions and was very personable, taking time to make sure I understood everything.
Gabriel was such a great guide! He got me and my sister set up with everything we needed! Super personable and helpful. Loved working out here❤️
I have been going to this gym for almost a year after a recommendation from a friend since trying to work out at the rec if youre over the age of 20 is a nightmare. When I first joined the gym was relatively empty at all times but they have done a great job advertising and it is now pretty busy at all times.Positives1. Beautiful gym - its always sparkling clean and there is a decent amount of space even during peak hours. The locker rooms are big and clean as well.2. Friendly staff - very helpful if you have a question and just leave you be otherwiseNegatives1. There are only 2 water fountains and they are both in the same corner of the gym. If you are lifting weights you have to walk all the way to the other end of the gym to get water. In addition, one of the water bottle filling stations has been finicky since I joined and has been outright broken for at least 4 months now.2. Although most of the equipment is new (and they did great adding more benches and rowing machines as the gym got more popular) if it breaks it doesnt get fixed. The smith machine has been broken with a sign on it for at least 2 months and I assume the ab crunch machine will suffer the same fate. The scale at the front read wrong for a long time before it was acknowledged and now the scale is gone (being replaced hopefully!)3. It feels like a rip off sometimes. I paid for the $25 a month Platinum membership which gives me access to all the TruFits in the area. You would think this would also include all the fitness classes but they are now advertising FREE boxing classes (truth: the first session is free, then you have to pay). Also, this is by far the nicest TruFit. The one in Bryan especially that is one of the 24 hour ones is a dump.4. The hours are a bit limiting, only open until 11 PM on weekdays and until 8 PM on Sunday. Expanding the hours might help with some of the crowds as the gym keeps getting more popular.Overall Ive enjoyed using this gym and still recommend it, but I wish some of the smaller quality of life issues were ironed out.
When I came in Gabriel Allen helped me right away and was super nice and efficient with the tour. the gym as a lot of amenities for the price youre getting and well worth the money. 10/10 would recommend.
The gym is nice however the workers are not. I never feel welcomed when I come to this gym. Front desk never greets me, I speak idk if they hear or not. But the experience at this trufit is not the same as the rest I’m disappointed.
Great new facility. Updated, state of the art equipment. Very roomy as well. The Womens only area is awesome because not only does it have cardio machines, but it has a substantial amount of weights/weightlifting equipment. The womens only area also has direct access from the ladies locker room which is great. However, there are not enough equipment cleaning stations around the gym and the small trash cans underneath them overflow with paper towels onto the ground. With this said, I have noticed employees making a point to walk around clean equipment. However, more freestanding equipment cleaning stations with larger trash cans would be helpful. Also, door hooks are needed in the bathrooms stalls. In addition, enclosed trashcans in the womens bathroom stalls would be nice, rather than open small trash cans on the ground. I hope to see these improvements because the gym is really nice otherwise. With these improvements, Id give this gym an overall review of 5 stars.
I am extremely impressed with this new athletic club. This new location is hands down the best gym in BCS!! I am overwhelming thrilled, that there are specialty gyms within the main gym. Specifically, I love the privacy and the equipment in the ladies only gym. My husband is excited about the heavy lifters specialty gym. Honestly, there are countless positive comments I could make about this location, I just dont have enough time right now. I actually look forward to working out again, and I have met some really nice people already. This gym rocks, and I feel blessed to be a member here.
***WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER***1. I walked in today and had issues with my guest pass. The front desk girl was super rude and told me to wait till someone to come over to help. However, she never reached out to anyone to help me. Instead she was standing there doing nothing with a POKER FACE. NICE CUSTOMER SERVICE I would definitely not hire someone like this to be my businesss Front Desk.2. I signed the contract last year and was told about the VIP guest list thing, which is I can have 5 VIP guests on documents and I could bring them once for each at one time, from Monday to Thursday. So today I finally walked in, after 2 months not working out, with my only one VIP guest that I put in on my document. They told me that guests are only allowed from Friday to Sunday and blocked my guest. WOW. I guess contract is not indeed a contract if no one values it right? By the way, the guy named Robert helped me with my contract signing up so I wish I did put him on a recorder when he was explaining the terms to me.3. After all these troubles, they still wanted to have my friend signed up for the membership. Thats a BIG NO. I would never ever recommend anyone to sign up for this gym. No business loyalty, worst customer service, no respect towards contracts. If you need to work out, there are plenty of good places in town that wont scam you or treat you with no manner.I feel the need to repeat the three reasons to stop people from signing up here:NO BUSINESS LOYALTY, WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE, NO RESPECT TOWARDS CONTRACTS.
They are very terrible at communicating and helping out customers. I have been going back and forth with them for months. First, I had difficulties cancelling my membership. I submitted a cancellation request back in December 2018 because I was graduating and moving back to my hometown. It was not until February 2019 when I called them, they notified me that the documents I submitted were not acceptable to cancel my membership (even though initially one of their team members told me they would accept them). I had called numerous times between the time get an update or to make sure I had submitted everything needed to cancel my membership and not once did they mention to me about my unacceptable forms I had submitted. After submitting different forms, my membership was finally cancelled but now Im still waiting for a refund I had requested. The District Lead Administrative Assistant said she put in the request for me and would give me an update once it processed but it has been over a month now and still nothing. I have called and sent emails to her to get an update and no response. This has gone on for too long and have grown very frustrated. I never leave reviews for businesses but this situation has left me no choice. Please BEWARE of them!Update:THEY ARE THE WORST! I still cant get a response from them on getting an update from a refund request. Its been over a month that Ive been waiting, they seem to not care about the situation. I have lost my patience with them.I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS GYM, BAD CUSTOMER SERVICELast update:I was denied of a refund of one month. I requested the refund because they wrongfully charged me due to their lack of communication of their cancellation process. I asked them why it was denied? Because I believe I was not in wrong they had misinformed me. I never heard back from them again after that, and I was completely over them so I left it as is.Very disappointed with the whole situation. I hope they fix their cancellation process to be more smoothly and IMPROVE YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
Great location! Clean facilities. Friendly staff. Just in town for work they where very accommodating! Will return.
Very nice layout and clean. Would definitely become a member if I lived in the area. The Hilton hotel gym was being renovated and i got a free pass to this wonderful establishment.
Try Fit was super helpful and welcoming. The gym is in excellent shape, condition, very clean and the workout equipment is excellent. Emilio was very helpful and deserves a raise!
Everything is awesome except the sauna! Please clean it! It was fine two months ago, burn now immediately when you walk in and breath with your mouth you taste salt! That’s the salt from other people so sweat! A power wash with water and light vinegar solution, and a dry mop once a week will take care of this! Ten minutes of labor! Please take care of this soon. Sauna is my favorite part of this location!
Whatever you do, dont give them your phone number. Ive had to block 3 numbers from these clowns, including a short code number, for (multiple) daily calls and texts. They dont take no for an answer. Ive had better experiences with used car salesmen.
Would not really recommend this gym to anyone in the College station/Bryan area. The gym itself is pretty clean and has good equipment, but I agree with the other reviews listed. The staff is not very helpful and I also was overcharged on my credit card for the monthly fee. I spoke with Rosie regarding the issue and she assured me it would be resolved. It took three weeks of phone calls and visits to try to get ahold of her before she finally called me back. Unprofessional management is the major downfall of this facility.
Pros: very clean, clean restrooms, nice reception.Cons: Only one machine fly. Theres 10 sections to deadlift, but only one machine fly. clamps are hard to come by
This gym is TERRIBLE. They have nice equipment, yes. But they will nickel and dime you for everything you have! NOT worth it! They lack compassion and sincerity, and their overall all customer service is far less than stellar. I’m completely dissatisfied with my membership and highly disappointed in my experience at Tru Fit. If you’re thinking of joining, please save yourself the time and extra hard earned money to find a better gym!
The facility is very nice and all the equipment is new. The staff is accommodating and the amenities are great. Emilio is the guy to talk to to get you going!
I really enjoy the variety of equipment at this location, and the public classes are excellent. Not a fan of the music here ( country music isnt for the gym) and they need to create more cleaning stations. The locker rooms are very nice, complete with waterfall showerheads, but the actual bathrooms are often dirty. A few simple fixes could make this a 5 star gym.
Much appreciation to Daniel and his team at Tru Fit (Texas Ave) for making sure that my fiancé and I were able to get a good workout in while visiting town on leave. Beyond respectful and easy to tell that they are sincere. Will be back anytime we are in College Station!
Great StaffCleanLots of cardioThe number Free weights / machines are a plusit isnt crowded
Awesome gym!! I love taking classes and there is such a variety. Shiloh was super nice and helpful! I recommend this gym 100%
