We were stranded on I35/I80 in Clive. Our AAA contacted Westside Auto Pros. We were so very well taken care of! David and Rick towed our truck and parked our 5th wheel in a secure lot where we stayed while the truck was repaired. Several drivers checked in with us over the next day and a half. The service department was excellent and was very easy to work with. And the repair bill was less than estimated! Thank You Westside Auto Pros for all the care!

Car battery died. Westside came to my house, checked it out, replaced the battery. Took very little time and was at a reasonable cost.

Westside Auto Pros towed my motorcycle to the dealership from my house after my battery starting acting up and I decided I didnt want to risk being stranded with a dead bike on the ride to the dealership. Westside was sent by roadside assistance through my insurer. The driver (Layne I believe) was punctual, personable, and treated my bike like it was his own in carefully hooking it up and strapping it down for the tow and acting like he had all the time in the world to make sure the bike was secure for its freeway transport. I appreciate the service and care that was offered for a simple roadside assistance transport.

Recently had 5 services performed at my last appointment. Westside provides text/link to view the results of car health inspection, which included work completed along with recommended service. Clean, friendly, and efficient. From my initial internet search to the final exit survey, my experience with Westside Auto Pros was professional in every way. Courteous and cheerful people on the phone, at the counter, and in the (clean) shuttle made it a pleasure to do business. The fresh scent of cleanser assured me I had no Covid worries here. Oh yeah, they fixed my car too...and threw in a free inspection. My simple tailpipe repair was no challenge, but I have every confidence the mechanics in the shop are just as Pro as the folks out front.

I regularly utilized Westside Auto Pros for oil changes since moving to the area. Whenever I would need an oil change they would pick up my car and service and return to me, they also stated they completed a 28 point visual inspection. On my last routine oil change I noted the brakes were making noise and alerted them right away to look at them, they then stated to me that since I had let the brakes go for so long that it would be over $1800 to fix. They had never alerted me prior to this that my brakes needed attention although they drove my car every 3 months. They then charged me over $100 for inspecting the brakes and completing an oil change on a car that is no longer drivable.Given that they drove my car every 3 months and supposedly completed 28 point visual inspections each time I feel strongly that they failed me in keeping up with overall maintenance of my vehicle. When told my car was no longer drivable I asked them to tow my car to my home as it states with oil change you receive 4 months free towing, and they told me that only included towing to their shop and would charge me to tow to my house. This company clearly only cares about making money and does not care for their customers. Will be taking my new vehicle to a more reliable service company in the future.

We broke down in West Des Moines moving our daughter home from Texas to Wisconsin. Westside towed us on a Sunday and did our repairs right away Monday so we could get back on the road ASAP. Very impressed.

The air conditioner on my 22 y/o Porsche quit working requiring new compressor and dryer. The drive belt was replaced and the original break fluid replaced. Very good service, communication and care of the car while they had it. I will go back again as I am confident they can fix Porsches’

I walked in and made an appointment for 10 days out from the day I was at the counter to have a knock sensor replaced. That was the soonest it could be looked at. My appointment was at 10:00 on Wednesday morning. Had to arrange to get daughter to work 30 mins away. Car was not looked at on Wednesday…oh ok said they would get to it Thursday. Fine, that will work. It’s now Thursday night and car has not been touched. The excuse was they have contracts with large corporations and their work takes presidency over mine. What about the 4 hours of self employment I have lost taking a daughter back and forth to work. Not to mention I had an appointment that I had to wait ten days for. I could get into Honda dealership in about 4 days. Guess it’s back to the dealership for service. If I have an appointment there at (Honda) I have an appointment. They don’t stop everything for a higher paying repair and make you wait another day or two or three. I took my car else where.

Took the time to find a solution I was having trying to fit metal valve stems on my wheels. Persistent and resolved my problem. Have also used them in the past for other work on my cars. Very knowledgeable.

Tow truck driver just came and dropped of a damaged truck in front of my house. I kindly asked him to drop it infront of the home of the people who owned it before it was off the truck. He refused now there is a busted car infront of my house which I have never seen any of my neighbors drive. Unacceptable

Terrance came out to tow our BMW to the dealership for a new battery. He was timely and professional. He found our car quickly and was able to actually help my fiancé jump it instead!!! He saved us a tow and trip to the dealership. Also my fiancé can’t stop talking about how friendly and wonderful Terrance was to work with. My vehicles battery decided to call it quits. I contacted AAA and they sent out Westside with an estimated arrival time of two hours, but they arrived in 25 minutes...fantastic. After a brief discussion we decided to replace the battery versus jumping it. Under the circumstances, that was the right move especially since it was -18 degrees outside. These guys are true professionals and I will be back.

As a wheelchair user, their free vehicle pick up at my residence made getting my van serviced so much easier !!! They contacted me throughout the day along with pictures showing me what they recommend servicing or what is in good shape and no need to service ..I found my mechanic for my van from here on !!! These folks at Westside Auto have been taking great care of all of my cars for many years! Friendly, thorough, trusted, and good at what they do!

Fine service and very helpful front desk, but was severely over-quoted for replacement of brake rotors and pads. After a complimentary inspection, Westside told me my brakes were nearing a dangerous level and needed replaced and they quoted the work to be $880. I took my car into another shop who Ive had great experience with in the past (just farther away from me), and they not only quoted me $300 less for the same service, upon brake inspection they said my brakes were good and not in need of replacement for another 10,000-15,000 miles. Be wary.

We took our 2010 Ford Escape here to get the Ignition Lock Cylinder replaced. We were sent an estimate for $429 parts and labor. They also sent another estimate for additional suggestions to the tune of $867. We opted to just do the first estimate at this time. They had the car all weekend and called the following Monday morning and said they ordered the wrong part because he didn’t read the notes completely and they needed to get another switch part. Then they said the repair would now cost $1100 something. We picked it up and long story short Gabus Ford replaced the very same part for 396.00 parts and labor. Where did the $1100 come from? Same exact thing. Usually dealerships cost more. We did get out of the testing fee after discussion of how off their estimate was.

I have used Westside Auto for several years and have always had excellent service. I am writing this review several weeks after the repair work on my van. I am a firm believer in gauging my opinion on the VALUE of the service, meaning cost versus work performed. Modern day repair costs can be quite expensive, but I value Westside’s expertise and feel quite comfortable with the overall cost. If you are on the fence, you should know Westside Auto is professional from the front desk to the back shop. They stand behind their work. I will use them in the future.

I was in a parking lot with a dead battery. I contacted AAA and they sent out Westside with an estimated arrival time of 45 minutes, however Dario arrived in 15 minutes instead. I was thrilled. After a short discussion we decided to replace the battery versus jumping it, under the circumstances, that was the right move. Dario was prepared with a battery on the truck and efficiently and quickly installed it. And that was not the easiest task. with it being a Volvo. Dario was professional and safety conscious with Covid and I appreciated his thorough assistance.

I trust these guys more than the dealer. They actually answer calls, listen to customers, and ask questions to zero in on the problem. Then they tell you what needs done right now, what needs done soon, and what is optional.

Super friendly and professional service. Few shops wanted to tackle an electrical issue. West Side didn’t hesitate and they were very upfront about pricing. Pictures were provided when they brought some other issues my car had, so I didn’t feel obligated or baited into making unnecessary repairs. Both Shauns never pressured me into the repairs. Too bad I didn’t get the financing but I’d recommend West Side Auto to anyone!

My car was frozen over and would not start. The tow driver, Willie, showed up and was extremely personable. He made short work of dislodging the vehicle. Based on this experience, Id use the shop again.

Great quality and very good customer service. Everyone is very friendly and willing to work with you. Will be going back if I ever need it in the future. My only complaint is they were a little higher priced at first, when a competitor offer came in lower, Westside made it right and matched that offer. Great customer service in that aspect, but wish the offer would have came right away. Would recommend them to anyone, however. You won’t find many services like theirs in the DSM area. Got me a rental car on a holiday weekend when the business was closed (so working after hours) for their customers. It was a pleasure doing business with them.

My wifes car refused to start this morning. A quick call to triple AAA and Nick arrived at my house within 30 minutes. It took him less than 10 minutes to diagnose and replace the faulty battery. He wore a mask for the entire duration of the service visit. 10/10 would recommend.

I had an ECM and distribution box issue. This was discovered by Westside auto pros. I took to a mechanic in Chariton and he just flat out did not want to work on it. I went there because that is where I was when my truck would not start. I had it towed an hour away to nissan. They literally walked out to the truck and walked back in and tried to tell me it needed a $5000 wire harness before they would do anything and they said it was no longer being made by nissan. So they refused to work on it. Plus they wanted to charge me $75 just for walking to my truck in their parking lot. I definitely did not pay it. Finally I luckily was told about westside auto pros and I called them and they said they would look at it. They told me exactly what was needed and that they can and will do the work. They ended up having to track down used parts for my truck. It took a while to track down and to get the parts. But, they stuck with it and would not give up. They kept me updated throughout. I did get anxious and called a few times. But, they were understanding and did not get agitated with me. I told them everything I had been thru and really showed a lot of care and understanding. They got the parts finally and they repaired my truck. I couldn’t be happier with what they have done for me. Plus when I had to get back home to get back to work they paid for me a rental car for me. This whole thing took me a month and a half. But, most of that time was spent going to 2 places who absolutely wouldn’t do anything for me and also trying to find someone who would. It did take a little while to get the used parts, but like I said they simply would not give up trying to locate and get them. I absolutely appreciate what they did for me and would definitely recommend that people take their repair needs to westside auto pros!!!

This IS in response to your interactions with Perry Baker. How very unprofessional of you and your company employees. Not only did you damage the alignment on his truck(the WRONG truck), you hung up on him when he called to have it settled. We understand that unfortunate things happen, but this blame happens to fall on you and your company employees. Handle this like a business should. And check license plates before you tow a vehicle for gosh sakes.

They will rip you off, or try to. Please look over your estimate before agreeing to let them do work they will charge you three times or four times the amount for parts, and even worse for labor

Got a Subaru? Take it here vs. the lousy dealership!! I had some minor CVT issues after some routine maintenance. I was given a free rental from Enterprise today and my issues were remedied at no charge! My favorite part of the process is the email updates during the day.

I had my Nissan Armada towed to West Side Auto Pros when one morning when it failed to start. A very complex diagnosis as to what the issue was. I am very satisfied with the persistence Jessica, Shaun and the team provided in diagnosing the root cause and getting it taken care of. I really value their honesty and solid business practices. I wont hesitate to visit West Side in the future for my automotive repairs/maintenance.

Half of the diagnostic day they did that day was not even for the things that I ask for and they charge me at $123 for just a diagnostic 1/2 of those things might husband solve them I just wasted a $123 for nothing

Blew a tire on my truck called to have them come and change it.the tow truck operator wouldnt even attempt to change it said it had to be towed. Then they tried changing for more miles than what it was. When unloading truck off wrecker he let the truck get into the rail of the bed on wrecker and my rim got damaged. The guy that called was very rude on the phone and threatened me if I didnt pay the bill after calling them out on service and damage. They are definitely going to be turned in to better business bureau and triple A. DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM EVER!

My truck was mistakenly towed from my work by west side auto pros. It then spent a few hours at someones house where it was towed to. In this time property was removed from it. Then west side auto pros was informed that they towed the wrong truck so my truck was towed back to my work and put in a different spot. Then they towed the truck they were supposed to tow in the first place. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED!!! I realized my truck was not where I parked it and we watched the surveillance cameras and that is how I found out they had towed it. I then contacted them about the incident in which time I was told they are not liable for my missing property or in anyway liable. They actually hung up on me. This place is unprofessional to say the least. I ended up getting my property back no thanks to them and had to go pick it up myself. Now im left with a crooked steering wheel caused by them dragging my truck out of its parking spot and a whole work day wasted on dealing with their mistake. I would never recommend them to anyone.

AMAZING!! I had such a good experience. I believe the person who helped me was named David, and he did everything he could to avoid damage to my car, while also getting me out of a rough place. He was extremely quick to get to my location, professional, and careful. Overall a 10/10 experience, will call westside again if I ever need a tow!EDIT: I had to be towed again (can you tell my car is on its last leg) and the service was again, fast and efficient! Antoine towed me this time, he recommended a shop in town that did an amazing job, and was able to work around the fact that my back tires were completely locked up. would always recommend this company for any work or towing needs!

Westside Auto Pros performed a oil change and inspection on my wife’s Rogue in the midst of the corona pandemic. She is a nurse and they offered pick up and delivery of the vehicle while she was working. The digital Inspection report was nice! They found a bad ball joint and the video in the report showed exactly what they saw! Amazing service.

While visiting friends in the Des Moines area, we had a flat tire. Westside Auto Pros is an AAA partner for roadside service. The long story short, we were on the road within 20 minutes of calling AAA. Nick is an absolute pro and figured out how to remove our spare tire from a rusted-shut zipper while maintaining an upbeat demeanor. Just the best and AAA is lucky to have them as their face in Des Moines.

I put over 40,000 miles a year on my Dodge Caravan and Ive had no problems up till this last year when I ran into an electrical issue and replaced three alternators in less than two months. I broke down near Westside Auto and the AAA tow truck driver recommended Westside. I was going to haul it to another Dodge dealer but I was convinced as they could get it in that day and get it checked. I am so pleased. They did a thorough check on everything and it turned out to be a quality of Parts being used issue with the alternators. They told me they only used high quality parts and they replaced everything that needed to be replaced. Plus I got a 4-year 50000 mile warranty that could be taken care of anywhere. That was huge for me with all the traveling that I do. They also gave me a comprehensive list of everything that the van needed and as I have been taking very good care of it I would rather put my money into it to get it updated to almost new that way I know exactly what I have which is a huge piece of Mind issue when you do as many miles as I do. Ill be a customer for life now :-)

This was my first visit with Westside Auto Pros and they exceeded my expectations for a service shop. They were very friendly, professional, and did a thorough job on inspecting my vehicle. Heather greeted me and explained every aspect of the business. I waited for my oil change and when I needed a few more service items they provided a free shuttle service and car rental so I could proceed with my day. This was a nice added bonus. The tech, Tyler, who worked on my vehicle did a great job. I will be returning here for future services and will be recommending it to my family and friends.

My car broke down yesterday. It was super hot out and I was blocking the turning lane to the on ramp. I figured Id be waiting a while, but boy was I wrong. Antoine showed up within 15 minutes of the AAA call. He was very professional and so helpful. Such a nice guy. He had me sit in the air conditioned vehicle while he placed my car on the flatbed. Definitely a place I recommend.

Super nice folks who had many opportunities to upsell and they didnt do it. I really appreciated their honesty and integrity and the fact that they respected what I was there for (a used car vehicle inspection) and didnt try to sell me what I didnt need. That probably earned them our future business with our suggested new car maintenance schedule!

Admittedly there were some hiccups in deciding what to fix/do. But they went above and beyond to make it right. This kind of service seems exceptionally difficult to find in this day and age. (COVID-19)Clean and comfortable waiting area, ample room to follow the social distancing guidelines, and quality mechanical work.

My car broke down on the interstate and I called AAA. They sent a tow truck driver from Westside Auto Pros. He was quick, careful with my car, and extremely polite. I was skeptical when AAA recommended them as a service provider, but after meeting their tow truck driver, I was no longer afraid to take my car to a new place. They were able to diagnose the problem with my car the same day and took the time to thoroughly explain the issues. The front counter staff was friendly and the waiting area was so clean and nice - so different from other repair shops! I will definitely be going back!

Westside Auto Pros is the best shop in town. I live over an hour away and go out of my way to take my vehicles here. They are always so friendly and the office is always very clean. They also have very competitive pricing. The office manager Melanie is always so sweet and listens to my concerns. Joe is also a pleasure to speak with. The best thing about this shop is that they do a FULL inspection of my vehicle. They tell me what all is wrong and estimate the cost to fix each issue. I’ve never been into a west side auto pro. but they’ve came into where i work to ask me if i was single, and catcalled my coworker after coming inside from her break from their windows in their work van (smart move) please teach your employees to have some sort of respect towards females, and everyone else for that matter.

I dont usually write reviews but had to after an AMAZING experience with Nick B. After a fun trip to sunny Arizona, I landed in Iowa to a dead battery in my car at the airport. It was hovering around zero degrees and was just windy and miserable. Nick, my night in shining armour, showed up and was able to replace my battery (it was due) and get me on my way home. I think I was his 19th jump start/battery change on such a miserable day, and he helped me with a smile. After this awesome experience, I will use Westside Auto Pros for my auto needs!

Locked out, failed battery. Nick arrived earlier than promised, was quick and competent in opening car without a scratch, used tech tool to identify that the battery had totally failed. Offered replacement on the spot and told me of other options and recommendations. Couldnt have been happier.

I was having a tire changed out at an establishment down the road when a lug but broke off.... I was sent to west side auto to have it fixed complimentary. Kinda annoyed I had to go down the road, I went and had it fixed. The front desk team was great. There were dozens of complimentary drink options. A comfortable waiting area because I chose not to have the shuttle take me anywhere-it wasn’t going to be a very long service. After a fairly quick fix (about an hour) they came to get me to tell me my car was ready. Off I went. The follow up email that sent the whole report was awesome. It informed me of what they did, showed photos of my car, and told me what I needed to fix ASAP (windshield wipers). Thank you for a great experience. I will be returning for more work when need be.

I had my car towed here after getting into a wreck and they gave me nothing but problems and charged me an arm and a leg with 2 tow trucks when they only used one! And when my car wasn’t able to be picked up by another tow company that I had scheduled to pick it up. They never once called me to tell me and the lady Melody was very rude! I do not recommend this to anyone!!!! Stay clear!

The staff at Westside is very friendly and knowledgeable and they have a digital inspection that showed me exactly what needed to have done to my car. As I am going off to college I need a reliable car and their warranty is better than anybody that we have been to in the past. I will always use Westside Auto Pros!!.

My car wouldnt start last night after a long, stressful day at work. I called AAA, who dispatched Westside Auto Pros. Montie arrived about 15-20 minutes ahead of the estimated time. He was not only professional, courteous, and knowledgeable but he got my car up and running a lot more quickly than I had anticipated. He diagnosed the problem immediately, replaced the battery and made sure all my questions were answered. What I thought was going to be a long night with bad news was the best thing that happened all day, considering the circumstances.
