Great facility has all the stuff I needed pool was awesome staff was very friendly and welcoming able to get in and out and get my workout done
Great environment to workout in, and not be ashamed of first time or just getting back into it!
It is the first time i have enjoyed working out since my accident. I have tried many other ways to work out but the water cardio class was fun and relaxing and a real work out for me too.
I agree with the previous review that this Y needs better communication skills and professionalism among those that work here. My issue has only been that I’ve come across several rude workers in the childcare rooms- I can only imagine their attitudes when parents leave the room. We have been Y members for over ten years so this is very disappointing.
Staff are very helpful, great options of equipment and classes. Cleanliness of facility
HORRIBLE PLACE!!! Employees need properly trained so that everyone understands the correct rules so customers get accurate information. I specifically asked the person showing us around if my kids could use the work out equipment because that is the main reason I signed up and she said yes as long as they are in arms reach of you. That is perfect. So we are two weeks in and a worker says my son is not allowed in the workout area. We literally have been weeks with no issue with him using it. I am absolutely furious and got my $187 back. Never will be back!
Great place to workout and they have great childcare. Everyone is very friendly and they have been doing a good job of keeping things clean. 2 summers ago my 6yr old took swim lessons and I was very disappointed the teacher was young, never smiled and you really only got 5 minutes of actual swim time within the 40-minute lesson. But this summer is a whole different story! I decided to give it another go and the swim teachers this year are SO Awesome. Theyve changed the way they do their swim class so even though theyre in a group theyre all getting a lot more swim time The teachers are so energetic, remember the kids names and they even talk to each parent and tell them what their child needs to work on. Im very happy I gave it a second chance.
I enjoy this Y and the people are nice but you better not be around anywhere near closing time. I was leaving there at 7:50 while people were still inside and they started shutting off the lights. I’ve been asked to leave the pool area before it was actually closing time because they needed to “clean up”, which typically happens after closing at 4:30. My daughter has been given nasty looks by staff for being on a treadmill at 5 minutes before closing, when we were about to leave a couple minutes later.I’m guessing it’s due to the fact that it’s mainly staffed by high school and college age people.
I have never been disappointed coming here. Staff are receptive and attentive. Pool with good lifeguards and I feel safe when I come here with my children. It is busy in the mornings in the weight room, but the treadmills and cycles are generally free. Great variety of classes that my teenage daughters loved to attend.
As of right now I am giving two stars. I go to use the pool because Im not able to use the equipment. I get off at 5 and I get there to swim and half the time the pool is blocked off for the swim team, or children are in the lanes for hours while others wait. People want to get their workout in quickly and go home after theyve worked all day, especially when they live an hour away. They dont want to sit for an hour to wait on a lane when clearly the time limits arent being enforced. I then drive up on a Saturday, mind you I live an hour away, on my day off, and again the pool is blocked off prior to noon for the swim team or some type of swim event. The pool was not accessable and I drove back home, a wasted trip. As of now I have gotten to access the pool twice in a month and I am really considering canceling my membership. Please consider all of your customers or get another pool outdoors or something.
I go almost every day. Its clean, the staff is super fun and attentive, some of the other members can be snooty, but overall, its a fabulous place to go.
My family absolutely loves the YMCA. The people are very friendly, the pool lifeguards are wonderful. I appreciate everyone being so nice.
I love the 530 AM group fitness classes, specifically body pump and cycle. Megan is an excellent instructor!! She is full of positive energy to get my day started in the best way! I also enjoy the other instructors, but 530AM classes work best for me and my schedule. When I am working out freestyle, I enjoy the variety of equipment and the space(s) to do my thing. Everyone is always friendly and willing to help if needed.
It’s always clean, very clean!
Everyone is so kind and helpful and the facility is clean, bright, and cheerful!!
Well rounded with a place for all levels and ages.
Wonderful place to come and enjoy by yourself or with your family.
Professional staff who are diligent about serving members with knowledge and public safety measures to meet CDC requirements while maintaining the interest of members at heart.
Very friendly atmosphere.
My goal for 2020 is to be more active and improve health, so I made an appoint to talk to a YMCA Staff member. I had a great experience at the Clarksville YMCA this morning. I was greeted warmly by the Front Desk sign-in staff member. I had an appointment with another staff member who addressed by body areas of concern and she took the time to show me how to operate each piece of equipment for my benefit. She then took me on a tour of the facility.Thank you, Ladies, for a great experience.
I love that you have workout/gym equipment. Also everyone is very friendly. I do love aqua h2o and arthritis h2o as a stage iv breast cancer patient it really helps. I enjoy the instructors that are so much fun and so nice. You feel included even as a first timer everyone has been so nice. I love coming to the y
Recovering from breast cancer would have been so, so much harder without the ABC program! Tammy helped us become an upbeat, supportive community. The Y staff is so friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is very welcoming. It doesnt feel like a typical gym.
I love going here. The staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable. The place is always clean and the equipment is up to date and always in working order. The pools are an extra added bonus. Love the therapy pool. So relaxing after a workout. They have a steam room, sauna and Jacuzzi. A sitting are to relax in with complementary coffee, tea & bagels in the am.Great place for children also.
The staff are very friendly. I love all the different fitness classes they offer for all levels. I love the 30 minutes free session with a trainer. (The trainer was great, by the way, I think her name was Pam). I do recommend the YMCA in a heart beat.
People will complain about anything. Its a gym with tons to offer. Plenty of weights, a nice pool, all sorts of extracurricular classes, and lots of cardio equipment. Its more than fairly priced. The staff is nice. The instructors for the classes are great!I highly recommend this YMCA.
Very clean. Well laid out. Not over crowded but a good bustle
Customer service at the front counter was great. They were friendly, professional, and made the sign up process easy. While standing there I did hear a phone call answered to which they explained that you cant cancel your membership by phone or computer, you have to come in person. Not horrible but something to to consider when youre forced to do an automatic bank draft for payment. We went only for the pool today so most of my review is based on that. The pool was ridiculous. There was minimal room for free swim, the water only going to 2 feet. The lap lanes were taken the entire time we were there and there was only 3 or 4. The therapy pool is where they hold classes such as kids swim class and water aerobics. The handful of adults wanting to use the therapy pool was stuck on one small wall area while these classes were held back to back.Bottom lineEmployees were nice.Facilities were a joke.
This facility is a great gym. Dont be scared away from these ratings (seriously)! I have two small children that absolutely love the childcare and sure it can be busy during a typical gym rush-hour, but it is still a great family/Christian/all-around gym in my opinion.
My favorite thing is that there is childcare for my infant and toddler and they change diapers and feed bottles, which my last gym would not do. I have never showed up and been denied a spot for my kids because they were at capacity (also an issue at the other gym in town). I love that the Clarksville Y participates in the Military Outreach Initiative, which allows me to have a family gym membership free of charge while my active duty spouse is deployed. I was pleased with baby swim lessons - just as good as the Y lessons we had been to in another state. The spin room is awkwardly small and narrow but the classes and instructors have been great. I also have enjoyed Body Combat and Piyo, and they have a functional fitness room which is kind of hidden but nice once you find it.
I have been a member for 9 years. I have made lots of friends over the years. Great place to work out with a large variety of classes for all levels. The pool and water amenities are wonderful with saunas as an added bonus!!
Only use the ymca for swimming and I go before work. Well you never know if the life guards will show up or not. Then you cant swim in the afternoon because the pool is reserved for the swim team. Probably need to cancel and swim at the sportsplex in Nashville.
Needs to be more consistent on the information they give out and not change what they say.
I always enjoy this place with my Medicare Advantage membership
My family and I have been Y members about 18yrs. Many of the Clarksville YMCA members have complained numerous times about the maintenance of the hot tub for many years. I was wondering if the manager who is responsible for the maintenance of the tub genuinely cares to fix it. Even after the recent renovation within the past year or two, the problem still continues, causing the inconvenience to its members to persist. The issues are as follows:- The tub is closed too frequently for several hours, nearly every other day (no exaggeration) without a prior notice.- Among all the Middle Tennessee YMCA’s I frequently attend, the Clarksville YMCA is the most chlorinated, causing heavy irritation to the eyes and skin. I don’t know what guidelines they follow, but the chemical levels always seem to be inconsistent. (Attached pictures show the high levels of chemicals on a typical day, comparable to a detergent wash. The chlorine levels correlate with the abundance of bubbles.) The chemical levels should be open knowledge to the members through a public notice, updated daily, near the hot tub. The YMCA members should be aware if the chemicals levels are potentially a health hazard.I was wondering if the maintenance could be done outside of operating hours so I asked one of the staff members working on the chemical levels. I was told that they could not work on the hot tub chemicals outside of operating hours because lifeguards must be present and there are no lifeguards present when closed.Anyhow, I hope that this is noticed by the Middle Tennessee YMCA management team and gets resolved.
I attend Movestrong every M-W-F morning with Pam. It’s my favorite class/instructor. Pam keeps the classes interesting and has even started doing some of them outside. No class is ever the same. I love that I’m getting in a great workout without all the preparation; all I have to do is show up and follow her guidance!
I love the Y. Family friendly environment. Great way be be active as a family.
Great choice of classes for people who arent already in peak condition. Many of the classes can be easily adapted for seniors, beginners, or people like me with physical disabilities. The staff is more than willing to work with me, at what ever level I am at, and customize work outs or exercises to fit my needs!
Best variety of up to date equipment, pool, walk/run track, classes and friendly staff and more. Also great open hours!
A great place to keep healthy and make friends. I love my local YMCA!
Facilities seem fine, but if you are an adult swimmer looking for lap lanes to train or swim in, look elsewhere. This facility reserves ALL the lanes for their swim team and junior swim team to train in from late afternoon to 7:00pm.I would not get a membership to this facility if you are a swimmer, work normal hours, and swim after work. Very disappointing and not something you would expect from a company that claims to be inclusive of all its members.
Ive been a member of this Y since September of this year, and Im so happy with it. I have two kids, ages 3 and 5 and I can assure anyone reading this they are NOT allowed to roam in the free weight area! The classes are very challenging, there are a lot of options for kids, they offer Parents Night Out every so often on weekends; its a great family atmosphere. As far as I have experienced, the staff is professional and courteous. I am disappointed to read above about the lady being asked to move because she was breastfeeding, I think that is horribly rude, but it doesnt surprise me given the culture we live in. But other than that, I highly recommend this place.
WHY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT AREA SO SMALL.... THE WEIGHT AREA IS THE SMALLEST IN THE WHOLE GYM AND THATS WHERE MOST PEOPLE WANT TO BE OR SHOULD WANT TO BE. GRANTED, THEY DO HAVE THE HALF COURT STUDIO AREA NOW, HOWEVER THERE ARE NO MIRRORS SO ITS DIFFICULT TO WATCH YOURSELF WHEN YOUR BIG ON PERFECTED YOUR FORM. OTHER THAN THAT I LOVE THE Y, AND THE STAFF ARE ALWAYS VERY WILLING TO HELP.
The hours of availability make it feasible for anyone to get their exercise. Their are great staff members to support the members.
First my mom and I went to basic yoga with Doris and she was patient and inspirational. She even assisted my mom who has a knee injury and difficulty getting down. Doris is simply incredible! Today I tried Zumba with Jessica and I was blown away. Everyone was following in sync and it was a great work out that I felt hours later! Jessica was kind enough to correct me on certain steps asking us to leave feedback on our workout on what we liked or felt needed to improve. I really did love Jessica and I want to move as gracefully as her someday. So bottom line: ImI new to the YMCA however I find it to be very worthwhile. As we were walking by we passed the pool area and my mom lamented not having time for a dip in the hot whirlpool. Love, love, love!
The people are friendly and helpful and they have all the machines I need to stay healthy and active.
I love the clarksville Y! The facility is incredibly maintained, always clean and the staff and hours are phenomenal!
Even better than I expected.
I love this place. Majority of the staff is very pleasant. My kids love the childcare there and there is so much to offer for the monthly rate.
Tried to go for a simple day pass. First I had to go back to the car for ID. Then, it turned into a full application. I ended up walking out.
It was 90degrees outside, and the childcare staff mistakenly left my two year old outside unattended. Thankfully, I happened to be picking her up moments after she was left, but who knows how long she would have gone unnoticed if I was still working out! I talked to both staff and management about the incident, and I didnt even get an apology for what happened. In fact, the only thing Becky did was tell me shed look over the video and speak to her staff, but the next day I discovered the staff wasnt informed of what happened and how to prevent it in the future. This whole situation is totally unacceptable.
This is a great place for families!
There are ALWAYS some folks who can find fault with a pot of gold. I have been going to the YMCA on Hillcrest for more than 10 years. The facility and staff have NEVER been anything less than friendly and professional. To those disgruntled folks I would just say that nothing is perfect, but the YMCA strives to make it that way. So instead of posting a petty grievance on the internet, why dont you share your thoughts with the staff and try to be a help. For the money and and good company, the YMCA is the best you are going to find. Keep up the good work YMCA!
Weight area too crowded. Equipment not lubricated often enough in areas needed (weight guide-bars, etc.). When the staff is asked about this the reply is, its scheduled. Scheduled and completed are NOT THE SAME. How bout a little supervision. I wish there was a gym closer to my house. Also, it does not take long to realize the staff are treated poorly. If working conditions were better perhaps they would complete scheduled tasks. However, for the most part - they are friendly.
Worst experience I have ever had at a YMCA. Staff treated us like we were dirt. They either yelled at my young nieces or completely ignored us when all we wanted was for them to do their job. Upon insisting on a refund, was told one thing that was completely untrue and have still not received a refund. Coporate office was just as bad. They have no respect for their members and are so far from what the company was built upon. Very sad. Will never go to a YMCA again and would recommend you save your self time and headache and go elsewhere as well.
I was a member at YMCA for over 4 years until recently. The facility is clean, quiet, but small. There aren’t many equipments of the same kind so if some one is using it, you’re out of luck. Also the basketball court is ridiculously small, if there’s more than 3 people at a time, it automatically becomes too crowded. All of these things didn’t make me want to end my memebership because I understand that it’s not the highest quality gym. The reason why I did end my memebership here is because the head trainer there treated me and my father with disrespect. They automatically put the staff over the members at YMCA so if something goes wrong they will treat you like a criminal.
This facilitys equipment and classes are far too small for a city the size and f Clarksville. Best part are the class instructors.
Need to upgrade alot members have left.iThe gym has been taking over by crossfit and built a wall in the middle of the gym. Clearly they dont care about the gym. Its smaller then the hopkinsville ky ymca and Springfield ymca.. And Clarksville tn is a bigger city then both those places.. Very sad 😔
The equipment stays broken for weeks, some of the trainers can be extremely rude just walking past them, there is this older lady that does accounts there and she is completely rude and unprofessional. The weight room is small and the place is ran by teenagers with no supervision.
This company was without a doubt the worst people I have ever worked for. It is also the worst gym I have ever been to. First off their camp manager is a worthless individual who cant even keep to a schedule that she writes herself. The employees are treated like dog crap and are never told what is going on. If you ask a question you will be looked at like your stupid. I was also told I was going to be hired as a Supervisor for the day camp but instead was just a regular camp counselor. The pool manager who doubles as the camp director is the most unprofessional person and dishonest person I have ever worked for.
The Clarksville YMCA pales in comparison to the other YMCAs in the state. It is singlehandedly the worst place to work out in the world (or at least in the state of TN). If Satan had a choice to work out here or in a Ballys (Im not sure if that is the correct spelling, but I dont really care) he would probably choose the latter. The management is sub-par and under qualified at best. The employees are both surly and apathetic. Rules are present but not enforced by employees. If you are interested in a terrible place to work out, then look no more because this could quite possibly be it. This might also be a great place to get a staph infection as well.Long story short: dont go here.
I love this Y but can someone tell me why the Y on needmore and trenton doesnt have the same activities as hillcrest?? i mean, if i pay a monthly fee for membership, i shouldnt have to travel way across town just so i can get in the pool or play basketball. both facilities should offer the same activiites.
It is clean and friendly
Friendly staff and plenty of choices for exercise.
Great place to exercise
Just felt the need to laugh at the guy who thinks you can get aids from sweat lol.
Terrible, terrible, terrible YMCA. The weights area is small, the childcare is horrible, I swear they have no idea how to care for children.
Functional
쉬 Have fun while relaxing in the hot pot and swimming hoop hot tub! ♡♡♡
