We came in off the street looking for a haircut and informed theyre available by appointment only. Ok fine. We didnt know. No need to be an rude about it. Ive got better things in life to do than know the policy of every individual barbershop.

I no longer live in Cincinnati, so unfortunately I can no longer get my hair cut at Clifton barbers. The quality of this shop makes every other shop feel like a great clips. Whenever I come visit Cincinnati I always make it a point to get my haircut here. I recommend it to all my friends.

This was my first haircut on the path back to normal in many, many months. I usually just go to Great Clips but heard solid things about this place so I gave it a shot.I had a great experience! Incredible attention to detail - I didnt realize how rushed my cuts were at chain stores. Dave took his time and did an awesome job with my previously long and wild pandemic hair.I would highly recommend giving them a shot for a solid mens cut. Personable and friendly staff and definitely priced right for the service you receive.

Easily the most consistent and welcoming shop around, so the $25-30 price tag isnt a big deal. Every barber there will give you a great haircut. The wait used to be starting to get out of hand but since moving over to a reservation system at the onset of the pandemic I havent been inside for longer than 40 minutes at a time.

Got a haircut here yesterday and you can say I’m completely disappointed. Vibe of the barber shop is awesome. Hipster vibe with cool barbers. But for the price not worth it at all. I had to wait 15min after my appointment was scheduled to even get in a chair. I asked the barber to keep it long on top and he asked if he should just trim the top a bit. I agreed. He took of about a inch. Not going to blame that on him because it could’ve been a miscommunication on my part. But when I got home I realized my sideburns were completely uneven. That’s unacceptable and just not paying attention to detail. For a $30 haircut they should be paying attention on the little things and not trying to get you out of the chair ASAP. You can say I won’t be coming back here any time soon.

I chose to go here because they offer a skin fade as an option, so I was hoping that this meant they knew how to do one properly. Dave did such a good job with my haircut (after just showing him one picture) that Ill being going back to him for my next haircut. Its a little pricier that some other barbers, but its really worth every penny. All of the other barbers were also putting out great haircuts, too, while I was sitting in the chair, so you can be confident that youll get a good cut with anyone here.

I like this place, it has a cozy and welcoming environment. Ive went a couple times and got my hair done well, by 2 of the guys there.But today was different.I was growing my hair out, and I had two pictures in great detail of how I wanted the sides of my head to be cut. The picture described the back of the head would increase from the base of the neck going 5cm-7cm-11cm-15cm to the top of my head. Then on the sides from the base 6cm-11cm-15cm to the top.I showed him these and he agreed, showed me the end result and it looked nothing like around what I wanted. I told him that and he recommended what I get was my hair off the ear and lined up. I told the guy that I trusted him but I want it like the picture.I dont pay attention for a second, and clippers that were there seemed to be set at level 1, it was basically next to shaving the hair, goes up the side of my head. I instantly regreted going to this place, but it taught me not to get attached to things.The man was nice, he seemed genuine to me at least. I know it wasnt on purpose or anything but I wont be going back to this place. If you are going here, and want something that isnt an undercut, dont sit on the seat on the far left closest to the window.

I’ve been going to these guys for over a year now, and no matter which barber cuts your hair, you’ll know you’re getting the best cut in Cincinnati. Get there early to get on the waitlist, or else you may be out of luck, and bring cash too. They fill up fast, but it’s worth the wait. Always a good atmosphere there, and they are doing a great job at staying clean with the rona.

When I found out I was moving to Cincinnati 6 months ago the first thought on my mind was “Oh, no. I need to find a barber.” (I’m not kidding). Having gone to the same barber for 10 years I was hoping to find somewhere that not only would give me a solid haircut but would also provide the same small shop culture I loved.I was recommended to check out Clifton Barbers by a buddy who doesn’t even live in Cincinnati, making it the first stop in my search. My first visit was typical of the reviews here; long wait, amazing haircut, complementary beard trim (I’m very particular with anyone who touches my beard). During my wait I was checking out all the work done by the barbers on the 10 people before me and I kept thinking that I would be stoked to get cut by anyone of them. In walks a new barber, just starting his shift, and I was next up. Great, I thought, but he proceeds to absolutely crush it and 30 minutes later I was very stoked on the outcome. The consistency between barbers is amazing.While I loved the cut and experience, the wait just didn’t fit in with my day. I then check out a couple appointment-only shops around town and frankly speaking, the quality of haircut paled in comparison to how I felt after I left Clifton Barbers. So, I decided to tough out the wait and try a different time of day and I was rewarded, my wait was half of the time I waited my first visit. My third visit, I didn’t wait at all.Go to this shop if you want one of the best quality cuts in Cincinnati and fun conversation (it’s a barbershop after all). You just need to make sure it works into your day.

A lot of people complain about the wait, go to a bad barbershop if you dont want to wait. It says walk-ins only on the door. They take their time and they dont rush you in and out with a buzz-cut, hack job. Easily the best barbershop Ive been to and well worth cutting out some time from your day for. You can tell they take pride in their work and care about their customers.

The other reviews are correct: The service is well worth the wait. Enjoyable atmosphere. One of the staff barbers, Cody, took me in his chair and gave me my first professional beard trim after 4 years of growing out my beard. He knows what he is doing, and gave me a wonderful trim. Definitely going back when needed in a few months.

$30 for 30 minutes. Paying for the time is kind of a joke I understand booking an appointment but to pay $30 for a 10 minute service which is usually about 10 to 15 dollars is a joke.

They said some pretty arrogant/negative things regarding issues customers had with them/the wait and regarding their best barber shop in Cincinnati rankings. Not a great look and not professional.

The location had been called Dans Barbershop for years, however, due to health issues, Dan retired. The young men that make up Clifton Barbers came in, redid the place and the rest is history. It is wonderful with a retro 50s look. Their service is great! Theyve been busy every time that Ive been (certainly a good sign for any business). They seem to do every haircut with the same care and attention (once again, a wonderful flashback to yesterday). Words of caution though: Theyre a pretty busy shop. Though no appointments are necessary, and I believe they are cash only. Which is fine by me; I like to give the plastic a rest.Wonderful barbershop and very competent barbers running it.

Went for the first time today. My barber was Dave, and I can honestly say its the best cut of my life. The service is fantastic, they treat you well, and they focus on quality in every detail. I could hardly articulate what I wanted, but Dave got every detail perfectly. Price is as cheap as a generic cut too. Overall fantastic, couldnt be more pleased.

Often have to wait a good bit of time for haircut but always worth it. They take thier time with a haircut and leave you feeling very pampered and fresh. My favorite aspect is the straight edge ravor shave of the back of the neck at the end of the haircut. Very very good service. Friendly guys and good vibes.

Pros: good haircuts, experienced barbers, fun conversation, good music.Cons: They raised the price from $20 to $25, The barbers are often arrogant and have a we have so many customers we dont really care if you come or not mentality, For example when customers have talked about the wait they just brush them off and ignore them, Politics and other controversial topics come up even though they have a sign saying no politics or religion.Conclusion: Come here if you want a good haircut at a decent price but be willing to wait up to 2 hours sometimes. Try not to get to involved in the conversation and just sit back and relax for the best experience in my opinion.

First class experience. But they don’t take appointments and almost always have a 2-3 hour wait. If you made appointments you would make the same amount of money - if not more. Also you could plan your daily revenue and schedule much more easily. You lose business with a lot of people because they don’t feel like waiting 2 hours to get their f@&king hair cut.

Have heard nothing but positive things about Clifton Barbers. Unfortunately I just tried to go there, for the third time now, and there was zero chance of being helped. One barber was working and there were 7 or so customers already waiting. They open at 9am, I was there at 9:09. I know this means your business is doing well, and that’s great, but please have more than one barber working if it’s going to be that crowded within minutes of opening.

Ill go ahead and post the same review I left on Yelp.Very disappointed in this place, which basically only gives the same 1930s post-Weimar Republic German boy haircut to all of their customers. My boyfriend told the barber I want a trim, not too short on the sides, and the barber asked him if he wanted it blocked in the back. English is my boyfriends second language, so he didnt know what the barber meant, so he told him I dont understand what you mean but the guy ignored him and went to work anyway. Not one minute goes by and he basically buzzes the sides down to almost nothing, with something long on the top. This was obviously very upsetting, and not at all what we wanted.I walked up to the barber and said please stop cutting, this is way too short, and got zero response from the man cutting my boyfriends hair, not even a look in the eye. The NEIGHBORING barber, who I guess was the manager, said to me your boyfriend didnt state clearly enough what he wanted. Not too short on the sides isnt enough direction. This is all kinds of stupid for a couple of reasons:1. I was speaking to my boyfriends barber, not the manager or whoever this other guy was.2. Why didnt the barber ask any additional questions? Clearly my boyfriend had issues understanding what was going on, but the barber was completely unhelpful in explaining anything to him. Cutting hair is his job, he cant explain how he does it? Why NOT ask a customer more questions for the sake of better service?3. Who tries to blame the customer like this, especially when theyre this unhappy?I told the manager that his staff should learn to ask more questions and sat back down while the barber cleaned up the mess. The rest of the time, the manager kept going over to the barber saying it doesnt look bad, dont worry, youre doing a good job. No apology to my boyfriend, nothing. He was literally more concerned about making his coworker/employee feel good for a bad job than making things right by the customer.TL;DR--This place cant seem to do anything different other than one haircut but wont say so. Cant own up to their mistakes or be bothered to apologize when the customer is dissatisfied.

The good: Ive received cuts here twice and was satisfied both times. The bad: the wait is too long to justify my time. I waited two hours for my last cut. Ive tried to go back three times since then, but the line is always too long. I was there recently with three chairs going and 9 people in front of me. After 25 minutes and no movement, I left. Id go back if they had a reservation system.

I’ve had a lot of haircuts in my lifetime but this was by far one of the best ever. A bit of a wait but I learned to go between 1:00 and 5:00 next time when there are 5 barbers working. Even though he had several customers waiting for him, Cody took his time and the attention to detail is amazing. I will definitely be returning and recommending this shop to others!

One of the best haircuts I have ever gotten, and the staff was awesome.

I was happy with the haircut..the only problem is the very loud hard rock music. so loud that I had trouble hearing anything that the barber said to me. I really like the music, just bring it down a bit.. I worry that they will lose some of their business because of that. A barbershop is a place where men can come to not only get a good cut but to talk about the events of the week, politics, weather etc..but not possible here..I hope that they can remedy this.

The barber who served me was impatient and rude. He didn’t want to listen when I told him how I wanted my hair to be cut. After a few minutes, when I told him I wanted it to be shorter, he was apparently annoyed and finished it in less than 5 minutes. I see a lot of good reviews here and did see them do great jobs for customers before me. Trust me, I’m not an indecent person and I thanked the barber several times When talking to him. This makes me wonder why I was treated differently.

Be ready to wait. Most of the time its a 45 minute to an hour wait. That said, its the only place me in my son will go for a haircut. Cash only. And the no cell phones in the chair business is real. I saw a guy get nailed for it.

This way, customers wont waste their time waiting around. They can either show up on time, or go to the nearby shops/bars and be notified when theyre next. And we dont have the whole whos next dance where people forget whos next. At the very least, use a piece of paper for customers to sign up on and call them when theyre up.

This is the only place I get my hair cut. I have gotten a haircut (atleast one) from everybody that works here, and I have never been unsatisfied. Its a very traditional barbershop vibe, and always good attitudes. Constantly entertaining the people in their chair, and the people that are waiting. Always laughing, and can strike up a conversation about anything with anyone. This place will make you feel valued and appreciated. Super good dudes out here, I reccomend everybody to come out here.

Great barbershop. Travel a lot and finding a true barbershop that meets my needs are rare. This is one of those shops. Every time Im in Cincy and need an old school haircut, this is the place.

Outstandingly stylish and prohibitively busy. The owners prefer organic over contrived and spontaneity over planned. The must see their clientele as ‘bros with ‘fros who roll out bed and think ‘today I’ll get a haircut.’ And for a few, that works. But for the rest of us, not so much. They get by this way because the barbers are incredibly talented, sharply relevant, congenial, and mesmerizingly present while their work. On the surface, it must seem that the full house validates their business philosophy but what is really happening is a supply and demand relationship that favors them—they are few and elite while we are many with unkempt hair.
