Terrible internet and customer service. I have called optix a ridiculous number of times over the years. Specifically in the last two months I have called them over 8 times due to complete failure of the internet during final exams and working from home. I have been given the run around they do a few moments of over the phone diagnostics then say nothing seems to be wrong and hang up. All the while my internet is randomly non functioning. They have never sent a technician or done anything legitimate to resolve the issue and deliver the service they are being paid for. Garbage company.

I’m forced to have this WiFi and they won’t let me have anything else here. Spotty connection, if you even get one, terrible customer service. All they ever do is tell you they will look into it and never get back to you. I would choose to pay for WiFi even if they gave us optix for free. If I could chose 0 stars I could.

Calling Optix garbage would be insulting to garbage. Constant outages, slow speeds, and they do not respond to emails. They told me that 15 megs down is high speed. Maybe in 2005 it was. No communication over outages either. Currently have had no internet for the past 18 hours because they broke something during maintenance. Great work guys. Hopefully they go out of business so half of Rexburg isn’t stuck with their garbage service anymore

We have had several problems with optix. They have horrible customer service and the internet is awful. When we first moved in our internet would show up but it wouldn’t actually do anything. We couldn’t use it at all and worked from home. Customer service do absolutely nothing and claimed it was all on our end. If you ever have to call their customer service, half the time you only get a voice mail because they are “closed” even though their phone system lets you wait in line for 10 min. We even asked for a tech to come out and he called us weeks later asking if we still needed help!The wifi is not compatible with some devices and will not let you connect devices on the same network such as a Roku and using your phone for the remote at the same time. And last but not least they will not let you set up your own router to mitigate this problem.

I have called multiple times and all they do is a reboot of the router. They even told me that they sent a tech out to investigate, but no one came. And when i asked about that, they never gave me a response, but apparently he came inside my house and did something to it, even though i am home all day long. Seriously terrible internet and even worse customer service.

This internet runs rexburg, but it hasnt worked reliably at a single apartment complex I have lived at. Most days I cant even watch a video, without a multiple minute buffer, or it lagging every 3 seconds.

Where to begin. 1st month in my apartment and WiFi has went out multiple times. Wouldn’t bother me if it was for a few hours but with them it’s typically gonna be a few days at LEAST. Even when you tell them at an appropriate time goodluck, they will send someone in the near future if you’re lucky. Writing this review because I told them my WiFi went out (one of many in my building are out) you’d think that’d be important & possibly something to work on during the weekend? Nope. It’s now going to be Thursday of the next week with still no WiFi & they try to kill you with kindness over the phone but that’s not gonna fix the WiFi. What kind of standard is this? Horrible service and fake costumer service. Seeing all the similar reviews hopefully they change or go bankrupt..

Im not one to ever leave bad reviews, but I am so fed up with optix.I need an ethernet connection to be able to do my job and provide a living for my family. I and my landlord have called several times a week over the last month and a half to get itinstalled, and each time, they say that theyll get back to me but they wont give out the number to the sales rep or the field technician who is supposed to come install it. Each time I call, they say that theyll relay the message to the field technician that something needs done but nobody has ever contacted me or tried to fix the problem. . It feels like im dealing with one big scam.

All the 5 star ratings are either employees or bots. Horrible quality. My internet randomly flickers off DAILY for over 5 MONTHS! When I call in they give the same excuse, “we’ll push it up the ladder and hopefully get a field tech out there.” There is no tech. They say they will call back with updates but never do. If you move anywhere that uses this place as an internet provider, kindly pick a different place. Customer service is pointless. Nobody takes responsibility. I get kicked out of zoom meetings because of it. Lag out of matches in video games and streaming services buffer and eventually send me back to the menu because of the poor wifi. Please never use this service.

Easily the worst internet service provider in the country. Period. At times the internet is so slow that you’d be better off using dial up. The internet has been out in my area since 2 pm yesterday and it is now 9:11 am there next day. And it’s not just my apartment complex but 4 other ones too. That’s hundreds of students unable to do online school and remote work because of the quality of service Optix provides. I’m so tired of having to call and speak with their representatives and honestly the “kill em with kindness” approach they take is extremely irritating when they know full and well that their service is complete and utter garbage.

I’ve been contacting them for over two weeks about fixing our internet and they’ve done nothing other than restarting our router which also does nothing and they haven’t sent someone out to fix it. I’m a student and with Covid I need internet to do my online classes. But am unable to do that in my own apartment.If I could give them zero stars I would.

At centennial ridge apartments the WiFi is terrible here. We get a download speed of 27kb... that is half of dial up internet speed if you know what that is. Have called near everyday but they won’t fix the issue. Will update the reviews if the internet is fixed.

My apartment exclusively uses optix- otherwise I would never use this service voluntarily. Their connection is extremely unreliable and rarely performs anywhere near advertised speeds. Ive called optix at least 5 or 6 times during the 6 months Ive lived here and nothing has improved.Its so bad that 90% of the time I have to either use my phones hotspot or go to a public space if I want to get work done. I cant tell you how many times Ive had to email a professor and ask to open a quiz or test back up online because my internet cut out in the middle of an exam.Optix is so bad that it not only neglects to provide a quality service, it ultimately does more harm than good by making it virtually impossible to work from home or do homework in my own apartment.If youre considering optix because of its price, reconsider. Its not worth it. They dont do anything to fix the connection and have not followed up with me once to see if the problem has been resolved. They either dont care, or are not competent enough to provide a quality experience for their clients.

This is hands down the worst experience with WiFi I have ever had. I live at one of the apartment complexes and I asked the apartment manager if anything can be done about WiFi they directed me to Optix customer support. I have called them 4 times about the issue. The issues with slow speeds and the internet dropping and then coming back have happened no matter where I lived in Rexburg. They told me each time they would do something a little different and it usually was better for about 5 minutes before it went back to the exact same way. Optix is worse than Frontier and that really says something.

I’ve been living off of optix for almost 2 years now and can say that they are the worst ISP that I have had ever. Their customer service center always passes off issues to their tech engineers but nothing ever gets fixed and no one ever calls back. I would like someone at their company to realize that this is an issue for all of southeast Idaho and fix their company.

Optix internet is the worst internet I’ve ever had. I had better connection on top of the Teton mountains. We live at Providence Square and for how nice the apartments are there is a huge problem as to why they’re using optix. I can never do my homework and it cut out as I took my final exam... The WORST ISP I’ve ever dealt with, they will say they’re looking into it and they’ll notify the “Network Engineer” (which I’m pretty confident doesn’t exist) about the problem - it’s been 4 weeks and they’ve still not came to look at our problem. Avoid them like the plague.

Maybe the fact that everything is remote this semester might have something to do with it, but even at 6:30 and 7 in the morning, the internet is so slow. I would expect them to account for this especially when everyone is reliant on the internet for their classes or at least fix the problem when it occurs. Why does every complex use optix? Use a different provider with better reviews! This one has a 1 star! Cmon!

Sadly the apartment complex I live in forces us to use Optix and won’t allow us to get our own internet (thanks byui married housing). Optix is terrible internet. I’ve been working from home and it’s been a total nightmare not to mention costed me so much since i have to log out constantly due to the WiFi never working. The router isn’t in our apartment so I don’t get the benefit of using Ethernet either. Not to mention download speeds are something you’d expect from the 90s and I cant even play Xbox online without serious lag. Wouldn’t recommend. If you have to have it like me it’s not the end of the world but I cant wait to move out and have something that actually works

Lately, our internet has been going out at the same time every day. Super irritating since it’s right in the middle of the day when I’m trying to work. We’ve used Optix for a few years now. When it’s working, it’s fine. When it goes down, it’s frequently and for long periods of time. I’ve never had this issue with other internet providers. Would be nice if the company would give a heads up or try to fix it. Looking at the reviews and average star rating though, it doesn’t seem like they’re interested in improving.

We have had constant issues for over 12 months now, on just about a daily basis. If you plan on actually using your internet, go with a different provider. Will never use optix again. Luckily customer support is very responsive, but it would be very nice to not have to call multiple times a week. Wish I could leave 0 stars... That would be more accurate than a minimum of 1.

If you love losing connection 4-5 times a week for 2-3 hours each time optix is for you!8/17/19 UPDATE:Just wanted to make sure everybody knows that not only are you guaranteed the aforementioned outages (plus a few more on a lucky week) but now you’ll occasionally be treated to “0.00 mbps” download speeds, each incidence lasting up to at least 12 hours! You can expect this to happen anywhere from 5-20 times a week! Awesome!

Daniel was super awesome in helping all of our connections work properly. It is quiet annoying that for most new devices you need to call to make sure the WiFi reaches it, but other than that our WiFi is fast and reliable.

Over the last month and a half at sunrise village in Rexburg, my apartment has been without WiFi for a total of about 2 weeks. As a student this is absolutely unacceptable. They always try the same thing, resetting it remotely, and that has yet to work to fix it in a fair amount of time. It can be days before it comes back up for us. I am going to try to get my complex to switch internet providers because this company is a joke and they don’t try to do anything more than what is on their screen in customer service.

Ive called probably 8 times about the same issue over a period of 4 months and they keep telling me they will fix it and contact me and they have failed to do so. When their service works its a great value, unfortunately it is not consistent. Their download speed will randomly drop from 80 Mbps to around 3Mbps for no reason at all. I never get the qoted 100Mbps download. The upload speed does however met their quotes. Im an extremely tech savvy person and I know 100% my network is not to blame.

Dealing with this company was a nightmare I put optix on speed dial because I had that many problems with the WIFI. Customer service was poor and full of people with no information who couldn’t do anything about the problem. At the worst I was out Internet for half a week, at the best it was barely 20mbs when they say from 20-50 literally never got out of the low to mid 20’sTechnician was slow and we were never given actual time frames just “as soon as we can” which apparently means “between 4 hours and 5 days from now”

Terrible service. Trying to use ethernet ports in my apartment and they were not working. I confirmed that the cable was fine in another apartment and even though i told the rep that I tried them all she made me walk all around my house and plug into them again. after seeing that they were not working they said they would send someone. tomorrow. at that point I honestly was pleased.but of course the Optix classic move she called back an hour later and said they would not be coming because I shouldnt have ports in my appt. I informed her all the other appts in my complex are IDENTICAL to mine and have the ports in the exact same spots and they function! so I need them to fix mine because Im working from home and the wifi isnt good enough. She told me she wouldnt authorize the engineer to come look at it because its not true and that i was wrong!?! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! They are refusing to send someone to help. total trash and the wifi speed fluctuates between 10 and 20 mbps AT BEST. if I had a choice Id pick a different provider. But they know they got this monopoly in rexburg locked down so they will never give good service.

My experience with Optix has generally been good... However do keep in mind that they do give your manager all your usage data if they want to see it. Also it is unacceptable that the entire optix network can go down at once-- Good networks have something called redundancy.

Optix is the ABSOLUTE WORST internet service to exist. And thats coming from someone who never leaves bad reviews. I hate to be that person but I want to warn others if they arent forced to use it for school that they should not consider Optix. Their customer service is extremely unhelpful. The several times I have called over the past few semesters they have been polite but they tried to troubleshoot over the phone, claiming the problem was a problem with all my devices, but they supposedly fixed the problem four times and it has never changed. Always disconnects on its own, when it connects it is extremely slow, or will disconnect later whenever it wants to. My roommates have had problems as well for the past two semesters and the same Optix wifi works okay (still bad) when Im anywhere but my apartment, which makes me think it is not a problem with my devices. They finally sent someone out, but again, the problem wasnt fixed. I just called in and was on hold so I left a voicemail. When I got ahold of them the guy kept talking over me and kept mentioning how he was working overtime and talking over me. He told me the internet was currently working and that they could only help me when it isnt (which is ridiculous because it is very sporadic and hadnt been working ten minutes before the call). Perhaps he genuinely couldnt do anything about the problem at the moment, and he did apologize, but then that is a problem with Optix that they are still responsible for fixing. He mentioned how busy they are (I figured tons of other people are struggling to do their online school) and so I dont know how I am supposed get ahold of them during my classes exactly when the internet stops working. I used to have to go to other peoples apartments to do my homework but with the current situation I cant do that.Also, complaining multiple times about working overtime when so many people are out of work right now? bad choice.

Horrible internet service. It goes out all the time. When I call they say there is no issue. I call 4 hours later and then they admit there is an issue. I ask them when they will fix it and they say eventually. Poor service to pay for. We moved into an apartment complex with optix. Couldnt initially connect to the internet so I called in multiple times. Daniel was there to patiently answer my questions and help work out the issues. Its not a perfect company/product but so far I have no major issues with their service

They came to replace the access points, which they were 2 weeks late for when they scheduled to come. After the change, the wifi has been down. They finally sent a guy out after 2 phone calls, he said the access point wasnt configured and that it came from North Point apartments so it was still configured to their network. He said he fixed it and that it would be configured from their offices and to wait 15 minutes. Its been around an hour since then and still no wifi... going on 30+ hours without a service Im paying for. Clearly they dont check and make sure that things actually work.

Not only have they not changed anything, but they recommended that I call back each day to remind them of the issue. Ain’t nobody got time for that! The customer service is bad as well. In the middle of addressing the problems, the representative said, “Well I should get this ticket to our tech guys, so have a good day.” How can I? I’ve got an issue and it’s not being solved. I wish I could rate them less than the 1 Star.

I LOVe Optix!! Never had a problem, great speed, great price, and it always worked so well for us. We got 100mgb for $35 a month! It was an amazing deal and worked so well for our school work, streaming, and internet browsing :) HIGHLY recommend!

We manage at an apartment complex here in Rexburg and have had Optix this whole time. We just got some more access points added, and they have worked tirelessly to help my tenants with any issues that have come up as things are rebooting and updating. Theyve been here as late as 8pm, sitting in the apartments, helping. Shane has given me his personal cell and has come by on Saturday to help. Their customer service is wonderful!

If I could give this a zero star review, I would. Optix has to be the worst internet provider I’ve ever had. With their “high speed” internet, try no internet at least once a day 4-7 days out of the week. You call them, they blow you off and say they’ll reset the system. Then send out a 23ish year old with obviously no experience to “fix” the problem and the problem is never fixed. They have zero integrity as a company and should be counted fools if they think they have better service than any of the other internet providers. What a joke. If you want internet from these guys make sure you don’t need it for 4-5 days at a time at least..

Absolutely terrible. The internet goes down constantly, random devices will not stay connected, and if there are multiple devices connected the balancing is horrendeous. You can call and get connected to a person, but almost nothing ever really happens because of it. An absolute headache, especially for a student that needs access to internet.

I have had Optix internet at every complex I have lived in over the past 4 years in Rexburg. Unfortunately, I have not had a choice as to which service to use. Over these past 4 years Optix internet has gone from okay with occasional problems to consistently terrible. I have not maintained a download speed over 2mb/s when promised as high as 20-50mb/s. I have also experienced daily ping spikes making it impossible to online gaming or streaming videos. Any attempt either directly or through property management has ended in slow “fixes” that ultimately show no improvement.

I have made 6-7 calls over the last 8 months or so due to intermittent connectivity and they usually say I am connected to the wrong access point. I have had my devices transferred to the router they said would improve things. I have attached the speed reports over the last months and nothing has really changed. Our internet is so slow the last week or so we can barely load basic web pages. We are pinched between a rock and a hard place since Optix customer service isnt helping and places blames on external factors, or if solutions are offered, they are temporary at best. Our landlord switched us to Optix, but seems apathetic we are having internet issues.

Id give it a zero to be honest. If we lose the internet only once a week its a good week. Ive called before and they jerk you around for a bit all nice like before saying its an issue on your end, not theirs, and giving you a solution that in the end, wont do much to change anything besides get you off the phone with them. Which would be great if the issue was really on your end. Except it isnt. Devices that work great everywhere else have issues here. You could have a top of the line computer and even then youd have issues.End of the day nothing is going to change. They have a deal with the housing around here and the apartment managers only use optix likely because of the price or because they have to giving Optix a monopoly in Rexburg Housing. But you get what you pay for which in the end is sub-par internet which wouldnt fly at any location worth its salt. The outdated technology they use craps out repeatedly and without some serious changes theyll continue screwing students out of tests, homework, or honestly whatever online anything theyre working on at the moment.

Worst customer service. If by chance they dont happen to explain to you how their billing works you will be at fault. They will not take responsibility for their own mistake. When trying to talk to them about the issue not only was I constantly interrupted but also insulted. They came out and replaced the access point and the new access point was programmed improperly and didnt get WIFI at all!!! For a month weve been suffering without internet. Every time I try to use internet at my apartment Im reminded of my frustrations!

The internet was down yesterday for what 4-5 hours, “fixed” and would you look at that it’s down again today. Which isn’t uncommon it seriously happens all the time, at least 6-7 times a semester that I’ve noticed

Our router quit working (or never did work). I called and set an appointment to get it fixed. They said they could come within 3 days. 20 days later still nobody. I call, they come that night. The guy that came to fix it said he wasnt able to fix it, and that within 1 hour someone that can fix it would come. We are on two hours and counting as of now.They tell you what you want to hear then dont follow up. It blows my mind that a company with less than two stars continues to do the things that give them such awful ratings.

Terrible internet. You get what you pay for. It may be cheap, but you will get cheap internet in return. It took me 15 minutes to be able to open a website, then another 10 minutes for the information to load on the page. Customer service is friendly, however, they never fix issues that they have. They only provide temporary fixes and will forget about requests you have made without consistent follow-up. There is a reason they have a 1.8 star average review on google. When calling them to fix my internet connection, they blame it on the application I am using and dont do anything else. I recently moved to another complex hoping that they wouldnt be the service providers but unfortunately they are. I now have ethernet, but cant stream anything above 720p, and even then it cuts out.

Customer service and help exceeded my expectations. The internet is very fast and very slow. It is either really fast like 100mbps download and upload one minute, then .79 Mbps download and 30 upload. I want to have reliable and fast Ethernet internet. The WiFi here works great, it is the Ethernet that suffers the most.

Customer service has always been excellent. You cant really place much blame on internet outages if you are in a rural area and a storm hits. I just wish they allowed Chromecast to work with the internet I have now.

From terrible customer service and the lowest wifi speeds i’ve ever seen, to the fact i’ve been calling for weeks now to have a router placed in my apartment and the technician not showing up without even a warning ahead of time. Optix is the best internet provider for approved housing at BYUI. Theyre also the worst. Theyre the only provider for BYUI, so their monopoly on business allows them to be cheeky slackers on customer service. Do you want to call tech support over 15 times and wait almost two months to get your internet fixed? Then look no further! Optix will lie to your face and set up fake appointments as long as you get off their case, what more could you want in an internet provider? 10/10 would recommend Optix, if you want to increase high blood pressure and unreliability in your life.

I saw faster internet back when I had to call a website. Awful internet.*update*They say they are working on technology to get a wired connection.... This company needs to get with the times.Also doesnt support a lot of wireless devices (Xbox, Chromecast, Echo Dot is flaky).
