While traveling 81 My engine overheated and I needed to stop for immediate repairs . I assumed it was the water pump and made arrangements to be picked up (I live in Maryland) and come back in 3 days to pick up my car.The car was finished in 1 day and it was not the water pump, only a Crack in a plastic part of the cooling system!Honesty, speed, price and quality!!!

Our son is in college, his car would not start. This place came recommended from a local parts store. This was an honest place and did not seem to try to take advantage from someone out of town. Highly recommended and this proves why they carry very good reviews!

We are from Pennsylvania and our expedition had a stripped out spark plug that blew out on route 81 on our way home from Tennessee. They got us fixed up in no time on a sunday for a decent price and even let our dogs come in for a/c as it was 90° outside.

While traveling from DC to Dallas (1300 miles), our Toyota Prius inverter cooling pump stopped working in Christiansberg, VA. We called The Mechanic LLC on a SUNDAY afternoon and they were open! By Monday afternoon the car was fixed and we continued our trip to Texas (1000 miles from Christiansberg). The car performed flawlessly the rest of the trip. The car was fixed at a fair price and the service was excellent. They even provided shuttle service from their garage to our hotel. Wow! We were so glad we found them! If I lived in Christiansberg, I wouldnt go any where else for my mechanic services.

BEWARE will do work without asking and then charge you. Took 2003 ford expedition in, for a compression test and diagnosis $350!!!!!!!!! Then said for a TUNE UP (COILS & SPARK PLUGS) it would be $815!!!!

These guys are straight shooters that arent trying to rip you off. They definitely dont push for unnecessary repairs like a lot of the dealerships do. We will definitely continue to take our vehicles here and highly recommend them to anyone.

My car started shaking heavily out of nowhere and I called in a panic, on a weekend. Staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. They diagnosed my car within an hour, had the part in and everything fixed in less than 24. Excellent service and fair prices. Well definitely be returning!

We took our 2017 Kia Niro into The Mechanic auto repair after an unexpected leak in the coolant hose halted our travel plans on a Saturday afternoon. The Mechanic was the only shop open within 25 miles of where we pulled over. They accomodated us quickly without an appointment and had us back on the road in less than 2 hours. Brian was knowledgeable, professional and communicated with us throughout the entire experience. He also offered advice on how to prevent this problem from happening in the future. And he did it all at a reasonable price! So thankful for the experience we had at The Mechanic auto repair during an unfortunate detour on our road trip. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for quality auto service in the Christiansburg area.

Took them an hour and 45 front tires then wanted to charge me extra because they took so long first time being here give new businesses a chance dont know how theyre going to make money when theyre providing very slow service hour-and-a-half I could have changed my own for tires done it myself if I had the Time

This is by far the best and most honest mechanic Ive ever been to. My AC went out in the middle of the summer right before I was supposed to make an 8 hour drive. Another mechanic had made poor and wrong attempts to fix it, but The Mechanic had my AC icy cold within a couple days. Not only did they fix a job that other mechanics didnt, but they did it at an above fair price. They spent *days* working with me, but they only charged me a couple hundred dollars (less than the first place charged to not even fix it). They were so kind and helpful, exactly what youd want in a mechanic. They even helped me find better mechanics in the town I was moving to. Definitely recommend The Mechanic!!!

Do NOT rent a Penske truck from here. We had an appointment to pick a truck up at 9 am on 8/31. The appointment was made with the owner, Reid Schmidt over the phone. We showed up today, 8/31 at 9 am, and they are CLOSED. We waited for half an hour, and some guy who knows the owner happened to walk by and said that the owner told him that he wasn’t going to open the shop today. Despite our APPOINTMENT. Reid left us without a truck on our moving day, with not even as much as a phone call. No note on the door to say they were closed. There’s even a monetary hold on our account for the truck we are unable to pick up. Shady business, shady owner. I can’t speak for their mechanic work, but clearly the owner seems to think it is good business practice to leave us with no communication and no service. I would recommend everyone to go elsewhere.

My car broke down and The Mechanic was the only place around here that was open on a Sunday. The shop was closing at 4 and I brought in my car at 3:40 pm. The guys stayed later to check my car. Turned out to be a transmission issue that I could not repair the same day, but they were extremely helpful with information and what the next steps will be and gave me a ride to a hotel. Over all I had a great experience and I have the feeling these guys get the job done!

I had a relatively large repair done and Dana and Darla were highly communicative and helpful answering all of my questions and made sure the repair was done right. I had both my catalytic converters replaced by the shop. The mechanics were very transparent with the whole process; they took me in the shop and showed me the converters and told me why they had concluded they had gone bad. Additionally, they did not try to sell me on replacing my oxygen sensors because they did not appear needing to be replaced; oxygen sensor is replacement is common when replacing a catalytic converter. Their pricing was more than fair. They do not perform state inspections, but they referred me to a mechanic who does, and the mechanic maintains the same level of honesty and transparency as the mechanics at this shop. I highly reccommend!

Very reliable and trustworthy compared to what I usually expect and get with mechanics around here. Price is reasonable and the guys are friendly and communicate well. He promised to call if the cost was over 100, and because he forgot to call, he only charged me 100 instead of 150 that my repair should have cost... We were impressed with him taking responsibility like that and will definitely be using them from now on.

Brian and and Steve are as honest and straight forward as they come. My clutch gave out late one night as I was passing through on 81, and they were helpful from the beginning in getting me there, were fair with pricing, and got me back on the road in a reasonable time given the scope of the work. I have been here twice now and both times have been an amazing experience. Get what they need to done with a reasonable price.Recently I had to get my front tires replaced and there was a mishap on the tire size I brought in. I expected to pay and have to reschedule, but they were kind enough to allow me to wait nearly two and a half hours until a relative brought in the correct tires. I’ll continue to come here!

I cannot recommend this shop enough. I had a spark plug related problem with my vehicle, and these guys ended up fixing my problem for over HALF of what another local shop was going to charge me. The techs are transparent, and will actually explain what and why theyre replacing on the vehicle, instead of just handing you an invoice. I look forward to working with these guys in the future and would recommend their shop to anyone looking for an honest mechanic.

We had alternator trouble on a Sunday afternoon with six hours left on our drive home. Brian stayed even though it was closing time and diagnosed and replaced the bad part. He was great! Reasonable price and we were back on the road in an hour! If he were in my hometown I would use his services all the time!

Shady as hell. Charged $500 dollars for all the work they put in to diagnose my car, which the mechanic honestly couldnt figure out what was wrong with. Why charge me $150 for spark plugs if you think the only way it can be fixed is with an engine swap?If youre bringing your car here do yourself a favor and get an price from them, in writing, for how much a diagnosis/estimate costs, otherwise they will find all sorts of creative ways to bill you like $240 dollars for Remove upper intake manifold / valve cover.Just found out from another shop and towing company that you didnt even bother to re-assemble my engine. Wow. No wonder the other shop wont even service my vehicle, you left my car parts lying around all over my seats! Unbelievable.Maybe ownership of this place has recently changed hands or something because according to past reviews people named Dana and Darla used to work here. My car was here over the course of several MONTHS and those employees do not exist. I have no idea how this shop has stellar reviews prior to this otherwise.

Definitely five stars, and if I could give six, I would.Unless you ARE a mechanic, its easy to be skeptical of mechanics. Theyre working on something you really dont know or understand, and they always seem to be trying to sell you something that you may or may not need. Not with The Mechanic - I know that every time I bring one of my cars in, Im getting the best service, at fair prices, and theyll NEVER try to get me to pay for something I dont want, or need. Ever. I trust them so much that, when I ran a business with a fleet of vehicles, we took them to The Mechanic for anything that needed done.Give these folks a shot - I promise, you wont be disappointed. And be nice to Darla, shes up front - shes the owner, and youll want to be on her good side! :)

Never had someone charge me to diagnose car issue in less than 1 hr only to tell me there was nothing theyd do anyway... waste of 75$!

Go figure I should break down so far from home only to stumble into the care of one of the most honest and compassionate garages Ive ever met (Ive met many). After a nightmarish two days at the tail end of a ten day journey, Brian fixed me up and truly went above and beyond what he charged me for. The only downside here is that these guys are so far from where I live. If you live in Christiansburg or the surrounding area, or need professional help while on the road I highly encourage you to stop at The Mechanic for a sound piece of mind. Best of luck, guys!

We were on our way to NYC when our check engine light came on in our 98 Suburban. The Mechanic had us back on the road in no time. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. HIGHLY recommend!

We bought a bus from a church the church had it at Duncan ford and 3 other shops to have it worked on and 3000 dollars in repairs and the bus still did not run right the church give up on it we took it to the mechanic garage in Christiansburg 3 days later they had the bus running like a new one a job well done in a timely manner with reasonable price thanks to Brain Neal and Jack my advice if you need a vehicle worked on take it to the mechanic people you can trust

My mothers car battery died while we were visiting the area. When we had the battery checked at an automotive parts store, we were informed that she needed a new alternator as well as a new battery. This was a problem since they dont install alternators and it was Saturday at 6:30 pm. The Mechanic LLC was recommended to us. We left the car overnight at The Mechanic using the night owl/early bird drop off box. We called at 9:00 the next morning. The car had already been looked at and we were told that we didnt need a new alternator. They cleaned the connector and checked the alternator several times before we picked it up to make sure they were giving us the correct information. Steve and Brian were professional and trustworthy. I have daughters that attend Radford and Virginia Tech. If they have an issues with their cars, I trust this business to take care of them while they are away from home.

I have had lots of car trouble in the last few days, and I have to say these folks are the best. The service I have received from The Mechanic was at a reasonable price, and really worth it when they took me out to my car to show me exactly what was wrong and how it could be fixed. Absolutely incredible. My car decided it was a good day to have the serpentine belt disintegrate while I was en route to Knoxville, TN, for the Great American Eclipse of 2017 around 2:30 PM on Sunday, 8/20/2017. They were recommended to me by a towing company that could not pick me up and they assured me that The Mechanic would be able to assist with finding someone who could - and they did - Affordable Towing (which was). Because I was able to tell them the failure they put me on hold and called around to see if the part was available for installation that afternoon and located one they could get before I was towed in. They stayed open past their normal 4:00 PM closing to get me fixed up and back on the road. Both Steve, the manager, and Brian, the mechanic, were a pleasure to work with. They went above and beyond to get me back on the road so that I could make it to my destination that day. I cannot recommend them more highly.

These guys were awesome, took the time to show me what had happened, explained it, not to mention gave me a ride on Christmas Eve after breaking down. First rate service and repairs. They worked on my 2002 VW golf tdi. Very impressive.

My husband and I’s car suddenly stopped working properly on interstate 81 on a Saturday evening. Luckily we were not far from the town of Christiansburg and the mechanic LLC was open on Sunday (all other businesses are closed). They fixed the problem within a couple hours and took some time to explain what was wrong and give long term advice. The replacement part was expensive but the total cost including the labor was more than fair, especially considering they helped us in emergency on a Sunday. Thanks again.

My family and I are military and are currently moving across country to a new duty station and were experiencing very bad car issues while stopped here in VA. Unbelievably bad. Went for an oil change. My dip stick was stuck so I asked them to take it out and put another one in. For an oil change and changing the dip stick they charged me $95!!!!

I recently went to The Mechanic to get the TPMS sensors pulled out of my 2006 Honda Odyssey PAX tire system and reinstalled in a set of new normal tires. I had already received some ridiculously high quotes and been given the run-around at a few other locations nearby where they were pressuring me to purchase all new sensors and saying they couldnt get the old TPMS sensors out without sending them to a Honda dealer for $300.In any case, I was quite pleased when I explained my situation and was quoted a fantastic price. I had the work performed and have been *very* pleased with the quality of work and pleasant disposition of the individuals at the shop.Ill certainly be back in the future!
