In trying to find a student rental I called to inquire about the application process. I was very surprised that they charge (2) 35.00 fees for a credit check for both the student and the parents. Other companies dont do that and if the parent is the Grantor why even run the student who has no credit history. Also, the actual cost to the company for a credit check is very minimal. Its not 35.00. I decided to pass since we had already been approved by other Chico companies. It felt like a money grab.

Avoid this company if you can. They do not have any integrity. We rented a house from them. When we went to move out, they were incredibly unethical. They did an inspection without us there even though we did not authorize it. They claimed we damaged things that were damaged when we moved in. They were also slow to respond to things that broke while we were living there. Very sleazy company!

They will take your deposit! I had move in and out photos and videos showing the house we rented was returned in condition in which it was received and they still kept the majority of the deposit. They make up fake invoices from non existing non licensed companies in order to keep every last dime. Not worth my time taking them to small claims court but beware They are crooks 100%!

Great company, great service. Its rare to find a company that actually cares about people and that have employees that actually care about people.

The people I worked with at Hignell along with the owner of the place I stayed were extremely helpful and understanding during the COVID complications and were always responsive and courteous. I travel for work and move in and out of a lot of places around the state and Hignell was one of the best Ive ever rented from. Thank You!

DON’T RENT WITH HIGNELL!! Consider this a warning to anyone who is interested in any of their properties! Absolute money hungry company, terrible management, and will totally take advantage of you! Not the first time I heard about, and I should’ve listened! 😭😭😭
