We chartered the Sophisticated Lady for a work outing for around 30 people. It was fabulous. The company was very easy to work with as far as planning and was in touch with me leading up to event. The crew was great. It was a lovely 3 hours on the water and we all had a wonderful time. We utilized both the outdoor and indoor space which was great for people who needed a break from the sun. All in all, a great afternoon!
What a FANTASTIC night! Captain Bill and his crew did a fabulous job of keeping us all safe and happy. The food was delicious and plentiful!! The boat with its various seating options was ideal!! The Chicago skyline breathtaking.... and the fireworks were a real bonus. SO FUN
We had a surprised party for my husband’s birthday and he/we enjoyed it to the most. Thanks to Captain Bill and his welcoming crew and Kim to providing great customer support for reserving the yatch and changing the time till the last day.The view was awesome, we missed the sunset as it was cloudy but now we have a reason to come back!
We rented The Sophisticated Lady for my dad’s 70th birthday celebration and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. From booking to the actual day of the tour, the staff was professional, responsive, accommodating and did everything they could to make our experience exceptional. Shoutout to Kim for keeping her patience through our numerous questions. Our family had the best time. Captain Bill and rest of the crew were great and had the best stories and experiences to share with our family. Boat is spacious and very clean. We’d highly recommend them!
Kim saved my friend’s bachelorette party when we had a different boat cancel on us last minute, which was actually a blessing in disguise because this yacht is amazing! Captain Bill, Captain Steve and the entire staff were so nice and made sure we all had the best time. I would recommend the Sophisticated Lady to anyone looking for a great, reliable day out on the lake!

Thecaptain was marvelous, the crew was so welcomingFood and drinks was greatA lot of the bigger boats treatYou like a number not as a guest I can’t wait to bookAnother cruise. Thank you forAn enjoyable night. So welcoming. Everyone felt so comfortable
Kim was super helpful with booking! She asked our budget and priorities & worked hard to create great options. She was quick and responsive! Beautiful boat
I reached out to Kim on short notice to book a cruise for a special event. Kim spent Sunday working out the details of cruise. She was very responsive and attentive to the details. The evening of the cruise was fantastic, a good time was had by all. Captain Bill and his entire crew were responsive and made sure everyone had fun. The evening cruise and view of the city at night was spectacular. I would recommend booking the Sophisticated Lady for your cruise.
We had such a great time on this beautiful yacht. It was an absolutely gorgeous night. The view of the Chicago skyline was breathtaking. We enjoyed the Navy Pier fireworks up close. Captain and crew were very friendly! Great way to enjoy the city with your friends and family. Highly recommend this charter for any celebration.
I was so happy with my total experience on The Sophisticated Lady, from my initial contact with Kim (event manager)the crew all the way to the Captain of the ship. They treated me like it was my ship and anything I or my guests wanted was provided. We had a four hour cruise the weather was sunny and warm, the seas were calm and everyone had a great time. I would recommend the Sophisticated Lady to anyone who wants to have party they will remember for years to come.
Beginning with the reservation through day of event, it was handled professionally and efficiently. It was a wonderful evening of food, sights and service. I highly recommend this to show off the city to your out of town friends, for a memorable Chicago summer night.
If I could give more than five stars I would! We had an absolutely fantastic time aboard the Sophisticated Lady. This was my first time planning a corporate event on a yacht so I was a little nervous, but Kimberly took all of the stress out of the planning. She always responded to my questions quickly and gave great suggestions. Then the day of the cruise came and everything went perfectly. I was so pleased. The yacht was beautiful, the Chicago skyline from the lake was amazing, the food was tasty and the service was incredible. Captain Bill, Captain Steve, Mike, Travis and Brendan took such great care of us. We never had to go to the bar as before any of us had an empty glass Brenden or Mike were asking us if we wanted another drink. At the end of the cruise, my boss asked everyone to give me a round of applause for planning such a great event. I was a little embarrassed at the attention, but secretly thrilled. We will definitely cruise on the Sophisticated Lady next year.
The sophisticated Lady. August 25thWe recently went on a yacht rental for my moms birthday, there were about 25 of us. The yacht itself was lovely and the views were great. They allowed us to connect a phone and play music, we were were delighted to have. Although the boat and most of the staff were good we did not enjoy the captain that we were given. When we departed the marina we were told that beer, wine, pop, and water were free and included in the reservation. The drink vouchers covered liquor. 30 minutes later the captain announced that the wine and beer WERE NOT free and we need to use the voucher. Beer and wine were now $7. 1 hour later they were charging $10 for beer and wine (another staff member mentioned that the captain set the price and was able to change it).On average our experience was still positive, we just had a few people with less than ideal experiences with the captain.
Had my sons graduation party on the Sophisticated Lady and it was a great experience. The staff was professional and very helpful. We saw the sights of the city up close and then they brought us further away from the shore and saw the Chicago skyline at night. .The kids danced on the bow and relaxed on the upper deck. At the same time the adults aboard were able to listen to different music at a much lower volume. One of the girls said it was amazing and she had a new love for the city skyline seeing it this way. The night ended with a booming fireworks show that took my breath away. I would recommend the boat to anyone who is having a special event.
Im not sure if Mr. Downs was on the right boat, but we had our 2nd company outing on the Sophisticated Lady last week. We had a wonderful time once again.Captain Bill and Captain Steve were great and the rest of the crew was friendly, attentive and courteous. It was a fun afternoon for our staff and some of our clients. Whats not to love - summer day, Lake Michigan with the city as our backdrop?Thinking of booking again next year!
Enjoyed a concert on the water. I have been to see Rush 15 times in my life and watching them on Northerly Island from this boat was a special treat. The staff was friendly and helpful. We then finished the night viewing the fireworks show from navy pier. It was the perfect end to a perfect trip.
Wow What a great time on the water! All the staff was exceptional nice and professional so if youre looking to get on the water this is the boat for you
What a TERRIBLE experience. Where do I start?First off, the Captain was supposed to call me a couple days ahead of time for my engagement on the Sophisticated Lady Yacht. I had to email them to get him to finally call me less than 24 hours from our scheduled departure. Not a huge deal, I just thought maybe they were busy. That’s when things started to get fishy. From there, the captain told me the boat I paid for was in the shop and I’d be getting a boat that is 4 feet shorter, but is very comparable luxury-wise. I told my friend that the fact that they are telling me so last minute seems like the old “bait-and-switch” tactic, but I said - “I’m sure it’ll be fine, and what other choice do we have? It’s less than 24 hours away.” I dealt with it, and told myself that I just wanted to have a good engagement without any hiccups. I told the Captain my entire plan over the phone, and he seemed to be on board with it.The next day, my future in-laws and their daughter (13 years old) showed up early to hide in the lower portion of the boat since my future-fiancé couldn’t know they were going to be there. It smelt like onions downstairs, nearly unbearable. The Captain down and greeted them and made a comment to fiancés 13-year old sister “How old are you?” She replied “13.” The Captain then said “Oh, I bet you’re 18.” She was very, very uncomfortable. Finally, we arrived with the rest of our group of 18 people, and the Captain came to greet us. The first words out of his mouth “Alright! Where’s the bride-to-be!” All of us dropped our jaws, but luckily my fiancé just thought he was being funny or weird and didn’t think anything of it. The Captain then made the same comment to three different girls saying “With that tan, you should be a lifeguard.” It was disgusting how inappropriate he was to our group. From there, we left the dock for about 20 minutes of our 3 hour trip, as it was foggy, and I won’t argue as it was to the Captain’s discretion whether we leave the dock due to weather or not. However, we watched many smaller and bigger boats leave as the afternoon went on, while we remained on the dock in our downgraded boat. The Captain then offered me “30 extra minutes since we barely left the dock.” I literally could have sat on the dock without a boat and done the exact same thing we did on the boat. It was a joke. Refund? Nope. The Captain had the nerve to say “What do you planning on leaving us for a tip?”I wasn’t going to make a big fuss on my engagement day, so I emailed and asked for a refund, and this is what they said:“We understand that you are looking for a refund, but there is no money to give you. As mentioned, we gave you the option of cancelling your event with a full refund or to hire the other yacht. The other yacht charges $3500 plus tax for 3 hours, plus the additional 40 minutes at $777 plus tax. As you know you received a large discount for this cruise so you only paid a total of $4804.36. As you can see you requested we hire the other yacht for your event, there is no money left to give.”So wait, the boat they downgraded me to was cheaper, yet, I was never offered any money back upon being downgraded. They also claimed to send pictures of the downgraded boat, nope, never did. That was a lie.I am currently waiting on an email back from last week that they have yet to reply to, and I’ve informed them that if a refund is not given, I will pursue legal action. I would run, run, run before doing business with this company. This was my first experience ever booking a yacht, but I have to imagine there are better and more professional options. Captain Bill was the Captain we had, the other employees on board were professional and courteous. We did question whether one staff member was of age to be serving alcohol, but that was the least of our concerns with our experience.
Very nice trip for a family event. Saw the fireworks at Navy Pier. Staff was very nice and boat was beautiful. Very enjoyable.
Excellent experience on the yacht.
Loved the whole experience
