Chris Williams did an awesome job cutting my hair! He was already at his station and ready to go when I got there (I recommend booking an appointment). The overall shop is easy to find, welcoming and super clean. Ill continue to come here going forward.

Found this shop online and decided to check them out. The barber that helped me was cool with helping me even my hair out and when it came to paying they let me use zelle so the payment process wasnt bad would recommend this to all those looking for a black barbershop on the north side of town.

The barber cutting my hair had noticeably, very, shaky hands.I questioned him on the shaking and he said no he wasnt shaking, its just a sharp razor? Ok, I proceeded and after seeing the barber brace his wrist holding the clippers to minimize the shaking, I had to stop a haircut for the first time in 44 years.I paid the man for his efforts and said it was all good, we just couldnt work together that day.I scheduled with another shop on a different day and they recovered the haircut to a professional look.The reason this is ONE star:I first gave a negative review after my experience on 6/13 and wrote about the shaky hands, etc. The owner of the shop called me personally to apologize, offer a refund of the haircut including the Ubers to get there and back after hearing about my experience.The owner then asks me if I would remove my review. I told him I would not remove my review but I will adjust it to showcase the owners willingness to right a wrong.Below the asterisks is the softer review I left after he told me he fired the barber and will refund me for all troubles.As of this writing, Its been 24 hours since this owner implored me to accept deeper understanding and adjust the review in response to remedying my issue with a refund.There has been no refund, only games asking me to swing by the shop or saying the Cashapp isnt working, etc.Im loyal to those loyal to me and this shop owner is not the one. Im embarrassed for him, this was easy and he turned into something else. Keep the cash, Id rather guys like me be informed of whats really going on.***************************************************************************Im visiting from out of town. I checked Google reviews and decided to make an appointment based on the 4.7 rating.I wasnt happy with the way my hair was being cut or the end result of my haircut. So, I ended up going to another barbershop to recover the haircut to which I was then satisfied.The barbershop owner calls me to apologize, asked for feedback and then offered a refund based on my specific experience which I accepted.Customer service is big; I am loyal to people that are loyal to me. Son had appointment that we made thur the site he arrived to find out the barber he was scheduled with WASNT even there!! No warning nothing so one of the other barber said he would take him but it was a quick rushed haircut. I guess he had his appointments Iam trying to understand if he wasn’t available why is it allowing appointments to be scheduled? So disappointed

I moved back to Chicago a year ago having not lived here in over 2 decades. As others have experienced, my my facial and hair grooming had become an afterthought, and I have been increasingly horrified by my appearance. Given that I have shaved my head consistently over the past decade, I have not needed the services of a barber. I selected Kennys based on its close proximity by bus. When I walked into the shop, the employees were welcoming.The only snag, and it is a pretty pronounced snag, is that I had booked my appointment to see Kenny and there apparently was a miscue and he wouldnt be able to cut my hair. Grudgingly I accepted Fleetwood as my substitute stylist. I can not properly describe my emotions post haircut, as there are so very many of them. I had no great expectations of the end result, as I have no contemporary reference point of what is a good cut. Suffice it to say that Fleetwood worked an absolute miracle. He truly did such a great job, that it, in my estimation, knocked 10 years off of my appearance. Thanks Fleetwood and Kenny Macs Barbershop for a fantastic visit. I will become a regular customer.

Just moved here from Hawaii and was in search of a good barber for my 3 boys. We had a great barbershop back in HI and have high standards. First place we tried did a horrible job and was expensive. Luckily we found this spot!!! We came as a walk in and were immediately greeted and Isaac was able to get started right away. He listened to what I wanted and was kind to my little ones. Everyone including the owner, Kenny Mac, was welcoming and we got a fantastic deal for great looking haircuts! Really sad because the environment was great and the staff friendly. Comfy seats and clean shop. but I’ve never had to clean up a haircut on my own more. Wasn’t lined up at all. Hair behind / on my ears on a bald fade was not touched. I had to get my Roomate to fix the back. Just moved to the neighborhood really wanted this place to be my new barbershop but if I have to go home and clean it up myself kind of pointless. May be a new barber and if that’s the case I feel bad for this review I’m just quite disappointed considering I had to wait 30 mins past my appointment for a cut like this.

This shop was excellent! The barber (Fleet) asked me what is was I wanted and he delivered. The part of the experience I really enjoyed was the other services I received the facial cleanse and face mask and the hot towel treatments on my face and head! This is the part you dont receive at all barber shops. Needless to say this will be my new go to shop!

I went to this place a couple weeks ago. The 1st day he was quite busy so he have me discount to come back on the following day. Service was great and the conversation very interesting!As for the style, it was perfect. Im a girl and I was going back to my favorite teeny tiny hair style. He got me started and I received several positive comments on Instagram. While I was there I saw the other barbers in the shop doing miracles on other peoples heads, and I can attest that they are legit no matter who you end up getting. Unfortunately I dont live in Chicago as it would have been my go to place for haircuts.

This Barber Shop is the real deal! My son is only 5 years old and feels so grown up when he walks in the door and is welcomed by this friendly and talented staff. He is Black and I am not. I admit, I know very little ablout his type of hair and the staff is extremely understanding & will take the time to help me learn. A priceless service indeed. I also feel welcome, which hasn’t always been the case in some other Barbershops. This was not our first haircut @ Kenny Mac’s Barbershop and most definitely will not be our last. It was my first time coming to the shop and as I walked in I was immediately able to be taken care of. The barber that styled me was named Issac. Before we even started he made me feel comfortable and trustworthy of his skills. Its very hard for me to get a good frohawk cut the way I like it and Ive been to dozens of places around Chicago and its usually a miss. Issac had me feeling rejuvenated after the cut and I will not only continue to go here for his services but also recommend it to anybody that mentions needing a fresh cut.

I walked in one Saturday morning in need of a haircut. It was busy when I walked in, but I was able to get in the chair within an hour. That is unheard of for a Saturday morning. Keeny Mac hooked me up. I was visiting Chicago for work and in need of cut. I was referred to this place from an old friend so I didnt no what to expect. I showed up about 3pm on Wednesday and the wait was minimum but ended up getting a fresh tapper and beard shap-up. Even got a little Chicago history lesson while in the chair 👍🏾. Definitely recommend this place if youre looking!

Walked in to get a cut. Figured I would wait a while no big deal. I was told I would get next available, sounds legit, I sat excited to get a trim. As I sat numerous people came in asking if they take walk ins. Those people were told the same thing as me. Why then did they get to go first? Figured it was a racism thing, but seeing the other reviews it just seems like a bad system and a lack of communication. Either way wont be back.

Ive been debating on whether or not to write a review for this barbershop for a while. If anything, I hope that the owner (who seems like a good person) gets to read this and improves on the experience for future new customers.Ive been burned with less than favorable experiences on at least 3 occasions while going there. Ive had the store not open when it should have been, while its pouring outside. Ive had barbers not get back with me when trying to set up appointments. Ive had barbers act as if they didnt really want me as a customer until something really bad goes wrong and theres even one barber with substance abuse problems. He freakin jacked up my hair and all the other barbers know about him (but not all the customers).I do wish well for that guy, but I cannot support my own people when it comes to service that makes me feel half wanted there. I am soooooo grateful to have found another barbershop. It kills me that the new barber cutting my hair, despite how awesome and friendly and welcoming he is isnt even African American, but knows how to cut my hair and makes me want to give him my money.I cant go back to Kenny Mac. There isnt going to be a fourth time burnt with me.

After my 3rd time getting nothing but crispy cuts and line ups from Fleetwood over at Kenny Macs Barbershop Ive been nothing but impressed with his consistency in accommodating me in regards squeezing me in on an already tight schedule. The staff are fun and sociable and its the vibe and feeling of your classic barbershop. I highly recommend, especially after my personal experiences in the majority of Chicago barbershops.

I need a spot because my normal spot was busy found this place close to my home on the northside. They graciously let me walk in. I needed a beard trim. I expected a detailed trim with electric and straight edged razor. I just got a trim with the clippers, basic of basic. I was a bit disappointed the extra care didnt go into my trim but it is what it is.

Worst service experience. I called ahead because I just moved into the area and is looking for a new Barber. I spoken with a guy named Jimmy who seem cool over the phone. I walked in on the phone because I had a emergency call. I ask Jimmy give me a couple mins. 4 little boys walked a couple minutes after me needing a cut. I completely understand now it look busy to Jimmy but how you approach the situation with me was uncalled for. As a 1st time impression I was disgusted with Jimmy himself, that I had to get into a argument at a barbershop, on the chair. It was unprofessional! I didnt get the cut but as I was leaving at least the other gentlemen ask me to have a good day. I do believe this barbershop had the potential to be great but it starts with a positive attitude and Jimmy sure lacks. For $25 a cut Jimmy asked for I would think the service wouldve been great.

I first came across Kennys shop after 6 months of living in Chicago without knowledge of a solid barber shop. To say finding these guys was a breath of fresh air would be an understatement. I personally sit in Kennys chair everytime I walk into the shop, but thats not to say I dont think all of his barbers are masters of their craft. The way Kenny runs the shop, from the way he handles new-comers to the way he remembers details about each of his costumers speaks to how much you really feel cared for after receiving a good cut from any one of these guys. A + barbershop in my opinion, and this is coming from a guy who grew up with a barber as a step dad (im no easy critic).
