No less than 6 large signs indicating that you need a mask to enter. Get up to the door, it’s locked at 2:18pm. Large letters on door indicate they close at 6pm. Tiny little sign to the bottom right of the door says “call this number.” Call three times, no voicemail, continues to ring and ring and ring. Finally on the third try, a woman picks up and says someone will be right out. Guy was annoyed with me and said he was with a customer and would be out eventually. How could I know that? No one was answering the phone. Window shades are drawn. Good truck, bad service / terrible communication at drop off.

UPDATE: They are still the best! Any truck driver that has a Penske truck can tell you how horrible the experience usually is. But thats not the case here. They are such a great team here that I called corporate to let them know. Unfortunately, you cant leave good feedback with corporate.After multiple attempts in Norfolk at getting work done to my tractor and/or trailer that is leased through penske, Chesapeake came through and took care of me. They worked with my schedule and didnt send me away. They performed my overdue PM and my tractor is running so smoothly now. Great people at this facility!

Commercial & personal truck rentals

I would like to praise the company for how they handled a situation that came about after we started loading the truck. Little did they know or us, the roof had a leak; the rain came down and damaged boxes loaded with nice things. After calling and documenting the problem, they offered to resolve our concerns. With a particial refund and providing the number to their claims department, we are satisfied customers that will give Penske our business in the future. Go Penske!

Best truck rental experience in my history of over 30 years as a regular renter.Vehicles are superbly prepared and Ive never used one where everything wasnt in top working order.Its their communication that is outstanding. The clerks always know their stuff, their data system keeps me well informed via email, and every experience is as smooth as clockwork.

The Marching Truckers Band Boosters has been using Penske Truck Rental for going on three years now. We have never had a problem, and the customer service has always been exceptional. We use their trucks to transport our marching band equipment to and from all of our marching competitions. The after hours drop off is one of the many outstanding services they provide. It is truly a godsend to be able to drop the truck off after hours and not be charged for an additional day. I highly recommend this company.

Great company to help you with moving! I use them every time I move. They also have a packing company called Simply Moving Labor that can pack for you and can load the truck you rent. It is a great company that I hope is around for a long time.

We had a problem with the chains on the car we were pulling to New Orleans!!! It took FOREVER to get there!!! But, when we went to the shop to get the chains fixed. They gave us information like you never want do more than 55mph pulling a car. They were VERY RIGHT!!! It was an education, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!

Awesome service. Both customer service reps I dealt with were really cool and polite. Had an issue with the key being too big for the drop box (because of it being a brand new van with one of those humongous keys) and I came in the next day. They couldve been a******* and charged me for an extra day but they didnt. They were very understanding and reasonable. Highly recommend.

Dropped our truck off to them when we moved here a couple months ago. When we needed to move furniture recently so we went back because they have the best deal if you have AAA. Seen the same guy and he was super helpful! Wish I could remember his name.

Excellent service! I worked with 3 different people here, they were all very friendly and proffesional. They also offer a military discount which is rare in this area. Truck was clean and drove well.

Worst customer service. I reserved a truck over 2 weeks in advance. The truck has a broken ramp that would not roll out of the lock bay. I took it back and they said it is indeed broken and will need special parts.Truck #2: Since I had a couple of items in the first truck, I needed to transfer them to the second truck. I received no help in doing so. They backed the trucks together and I was on my own in moving and reloading one truck to another. After doing so, the trucks steering column was not set straight. It was shakey. That was only 5 min into the ride. I went right back and asked for a trade or quick repair.The resolution: They only agreed to a $50 rebate due to the issues. I am leaving a day late and have been on hold for 30min waiting to get an answer on if the truck is ready today. Go with Uhaul, they are just as bad but you will save a ton more money on the same level of service.

The first time I rented from Penske I got a truck for less than $600 for the week. The second time I rented, they charged OVER $2600 FOR 2 WEEKS. BEWARE THE HIDDEN FEES!!!

I was charged extra on my rental for a air line that cracked while I was driving straight. How is that driver error and no one has called me back concerning this issue.

Horrible customer service on getting work done to my truck. I wait at the counter for about 25 minutes and the shop manager walks past me without asking me anything, like Im not standing here for help. I write things up on my DVIR that needs to be done to my truck and half of the work never gets done. I wouldnt recommend anyone to ever come here to get anything done. Nothing is never a priority here. Im still in line now as Im writing this comment and its been over 30 minutes Ive been in line at the counter. Has fuel island with d.e.f. available. Some parking in the rear not much. Full service shop. And truck wash pay for lease option drivers.

Slow and they never finish the work on the trucks, they send out trucks that they say they repaired or replaced then when you look at it the works not done. Repaired brakes on truck and trailer go to make a stop and the brakes scream because of the glaze on the drums and barely stop in time and they just dont care. Look at the paperwork oh well we fixed them and thats the end of the story
