I dropped my truck off on June 25th, 2021 to Penske to correct a seal leak that was causing my clutch to slip. 3 weeks later, I pick my truck up when they let me know it was ready. I left out the next day to hit the road. Once I got 42 miles into Virgina on I85 North, my driveshaft fell out of my truck. This could have caused me to crash my truck and kill anyone around me and/or myself. I finally got towed 6 hours later to my terminal in Chester, VA. Once the shop at my terminal looked at my truck, they determined that once the driveshaft was put back together it was NOT properly bolted back to the frame of the truck. They bolted the casing baring to the frame but NEVER tightened the nuts on the bolts. This could have been VERY TRAGIC. Well, I finally got the invoice in the mail of what the repairs cost, it was almost $3,000 more than the estimate that was given. If there was more parts that needed to be replaced or something else they found wrong, they should have contacted me but they did not. I will NEVER take my truck to them AGAIN.I paid them almost $7,000 to replace a clutch and risk me and other peoples lives.

Drop off was quick and easy. I returned the vehicle on time and was charged a $100 day late fee. I also filled the tank completely, less than a quarter mile up the road, and was charged with - DIESEL FUEL 701541770 (10.6 @ $8.00). When I called, I was greeted with a bad tone. After a difficult conversation, they finally agreed to refund me and immediately hung up.
Do not waste you time at this location. The “branch manager” made my experience extremely frustrating. I’m thankful to have ventured to a different Penske. Just save yourself the hassle and go to the concord location! That team is much more helpful, much more competent there.

I had a positive experience with this store when I moved back in 2019, but I rented a 12 foot truck this past weekend, and I drove maybe 20 miles at the very most (the 2 buildings were 5 miles apart and the first building was 2 miles from the store), and I was charged $45 for 75 miles? The odometer readings they wrote down didnt even add up to 75 miles - and the best part is nobody at this location would answer the phone. Therefore, I contacted the overarching Penske customer support page on their website, but they refused to help me - they just told me to call the number that nobody would answer, and then stopped responding to me.

We rented a truck, when I got in and started driving, the engine light came on. That did not effect the performance of the truck. We went back to Penske, they put us in a different truck, no hassle. Great customer service.
Great customer service from Matthew and Corby! Trucks are in great shape and I will ONLY rent from Penske after having multiple bad experiences will all other rental companies. Note: it is BEST to rent directly from Penske owned facilities and not from storage facilities or Home Depot’s that rent Penske trucks. The customer service is usually poor at these locations and they often do not have what is needed to resolve any issues that arise.
The service is great, but the customer service is horrible. Well, let me be specific. Theres this one guy who sits behind the counter in the service department whos very rude and disrespectful. He ignores you when you stand at his window and is very short when he does acknowledge you. He seems very disinterested in anything outside of whatever hes doing. Hes not helpful and is probably in the wrong position. This isnt a one time thing. Ive been dealing with this for a few years and nothing has changed. I hate to see him standing there when I have to pick up a vehicle.
This district is one of the best in the country! They go above and beyond to meet their customers needs. Where other locations/districts may have a yes/no answer to your needs, this team makes it happen!
I would advise not to do business here.....I understand that truck breakdowns are out of your control but come on, the level of professionalism and customer service is god awful. I can’t get anyone to answer a god damn phone, and when they do I get hung up on?!!! This is not how you do business in 2020. Clean it up

Corby was a great guy to work with. I was concerned that I wouldnt get the truck that I wanted, a 12. The paper work said that if they couldnt get me a 12 truck then Id end up with a 16. I voices my concerns about that and they really made an effort to accommodate me. Get work.
This was the worst experience of my life. I spent every day broke down. I went through 3 trucks in 2 weeks. Then they charged me over $2000. They over charged me. I lost 1,500 in loads because of them and they refuse to make things right. I will never rent from them again.

Very friendly staff. Easy to work with and can normally get you a box truck on the up side. On the downside it is hard to find just a day cab tractor when you need one.
Do not rent semi trucks. They will find different reasons to charge you to make sure that you dont get your deposit back. Like 900 for one tire. It took 5 months to get a partial money back and it was 500 less then promised. When asked about it they said they could recount. But it will take more time. General manager Justin will lie through his teeth.
The truck was at the half a tank but on my paperwork it stated that it was full. From Penske to my destination it was 196 miles round trip. I didnt go anywhere but there and back. Penske stated that I was 40 miles over.

Do not come here because they will do nothing but lie and steal your money. I rented a truck and got the full coverage and of course had a hundred something deposit. First off i had to wait about 40 mins for them to clean the truck or loligag or whatever they were doing as if I wasnt working on a schedule. There is nothing like having your time wasted. Its mad disrespectful and rude. I was told by the reps that I could turn the truck in an hour late and wouldnt be hit with any additional charges if I called and informed them Id be late. I did that and when I got there the main office wasnt even open and I had to find someone to give the truck to. Once I found someone I told them I needed to fill the truck back up to where it was and asked could I do that without being charged anything additional and he said yeah (luckily there is a gas station right up the street). So I filled the truck back up and gave it to them. I waited the full 5 days for my refund for the deposit to come back and sure enough penske stole my money. The money never showed up in my account. So I called them up on Friday and spoke with Dalton. Dalton gets on the phone empathizes pretty well and then broke down everything that was done wrong by the agent that processed the truck return. He broke down the numbers of what they had stolen that being 104 bucks. So he apologized for the company and told me it should be in my account Monday. He even offered me a 10% disc off my next rental. So here I am believing and trusting in Dalton and the confidence he exuded while relaying this info. Sure enough Monday comes and nothing has been returned so I called them again and was told that Dalton was busy with a sale and she would make a note and have him call me back. Dalton never called me back and so I called them numerous times and no one picked up. So I still gave them the benefit of the doubt and said well lets wait and see on Tuesday. Well today it is Tuesday and the only money that was returned was 30.00. So Im still confused as to what happened to the other 74 and why are the agents/reps lying like that. Its very awful and hurts to be treated that way. I had to call out of work and gain points bc I didnt have money to take the bus to work bc penske stole my money. They seem great but they are vultures and take every last bit thats left with no remorse. Its sad and Im truly disgusted and disappointed in Dalton. I called today and he denied everything he said expect for the amount that was refunded to my account. Then he said hed call not email his billing department and call me back in 20 mins. I waited for about an hour and he never called me back. I had to call him back and reminded him of what he told me in regards ro calling me back. So that was yet another lie i caught him in. I dont know what kind of establishment this is but where i work we pull calls from the recorded line and review them in terms of what was said. And we follow up with our customers and call them back when we say we will. I honestly think think this is the worst experience Ive had with a company. I just wanted to rent a truck and it was my first time and Ive been a victim of penske. Id say go to Uhaul or somewhere else. Yeah it may be a little more expensive but Ive never heard of this happening with Uhaul. Do not come to this location if you want to get your deposit back. Im reporting you all to the federal trade commission for deceptive business practices bc this should be simple and easy and its not.

Philthy trucks. Poorly serviced as well.Truck has a leak through the roof of the box so my boxes and belongings are damaged.Rented a truck this morning and it was very dirty from the outside. The inside was full of French fries, bits of chicken crisps, and greese.Avoid.
I showed up at 6:56 to return a truck and door was locked,but store hrs said 7. But its all good didnt really bother me.
Started the morning off by not having my reserved truck and ended up waiting 45 minutes to rent my truck. Luckily when you are moving youre not on a tight schedule...The move went mine and returning the truck was great until I pulled up and left the truck. I returned after normal business hours so I left the keys in the drop box as requested. I was shocked to find the drop box unlocked and worried about the 6-7 sets of keys left unattended in the box.I look around and the office is unlocked. I think to myself, oh maybe someone is here to help me! Nope no one there so I call Penske to inform them.Do they care... nope! They dismiss me and tell me there might be another drop box on sight but dont seem to value their trucks.Therefore anyone in th mood for a free truck peneske leaves thier trucks attended and here is proof.

This service area for semi truck repairs takes for because most of the technicians are in the driver breakroom watching TV. This technicians are getting paid to sit around and watch TV on our dime and time. Instead of working on the trucks to get the drivers in and out they lounge around. If any drivers come here to this Penske dont get your trucks for repairs or PM. I have been here since 10 AM watching TV with service technicians.
