IThe compassionate and determined mission to change the living conditions of homeless people is real at Urban Ministry. Volunteers come together to define and restore individuals to a healthy life. This ministry not only provide daily meals, but it equips guest with needed tools to establish employment, peer support assistance, housing, medical and mental health assistance, job trianing and the list continues. I am so thankful that Urban Ministry was in place to help restore my life. The employees are very sensitive and overly concerned about those who will enter it doors. Urban Ministrys sense of caring for those who have fallen in life is real. Praise God!!!!

It is a fantastic place with very nice workers and they do more than what they should be able to do given the current situation. They always feed and always have enough for everyone and will help any person struggling as best as they can.

My daughter, alone with her sister, and some of her co-workers who are nurses and some friends and I went out to take food to the shelter. This was a sad experience but it was such a great blessing to be able to bless someone else and to put a smile on so many faces. We will difently be going back

The people here are terrific! Thank you all for the wonderful and dedicated work that you do. I was able to shower here and shave. They also provided me with a letter to get a NC ID without costing me anything. Come here with a positive attitude. They will go to the moon and back to help.

People get their mail, take showers, eat lunch. Once in awhile, the nurse is there, rides to the social security and dmv are available. But they REFUSE to give out bus passes for people to get interviews and jobs.

I wasted money today to go check my mail and the gates were locked. They didnt say they will be closed today. I have important mail. I understand that the virus is going around but they could of found a better way of doing thingsNobody will not answer the phone and they are there. You cant get a virus through the phone.

A place where the homeless has called home. It is where they can set up tents ⛺, get donations from people who drop off various items for them.

Although you can be fed, do your laundry, take a shower, and see a nurse if you dont go extremely early it can be an all day affair. There are a lot of people to take care of and they do what they can. I would give them more stars but I cant because when we got a flat tire in their parking lot we found out that our new used truck did not have a proper jack. My husband asked several workers for a jack being that they had two vans and asked other people with cars. NO ONE would help. My husband had to use pieces of wood, rocks, and concrete to push up the vehicle with no help. What would they have done if he were seriously injured? It wasnt until after he put on the spare that they told him that they do not help with flat tires. We were homeless, how could we afford a tow truck? They provide a lot of services but wont help you if you live in your truck and if youre stuck on their property they will have you towed at your expense. Doesnt make much sense. Btw, we were discriminated against because we are white.

If you are looking for a great place to serve, urban ministries is wonderful. Always fun to serve those that are the least and less fortunate. If your church group or if you are interested as a family or otherwise, please contact them directly and ask how you can serve. Mecklenburg Community Church works with them with our Middle School Ministry every year to serve lemonade to people that use this ministry.

If youre not there by 8:30 in the morning seeking housing assistance AFTER calling 211 then plan on not being able to be helped because they only have one person on site that can assist with housing. Be. There. Early!!

Awesome place for resources whether youre homeless or not they can help you with many many things. They have been such a blessing over the last few years and staff is always friendly and patient. May God bless the volunteers that make this place run

They try to help the best they can. They provide a range of services. There are expected situations here due to the people being served are in crisis situations.

The cross eyed black lady named michela refused to give me a bus pass for work my job had told her Wednesday of last week I get paid friday she gave me a 10 ride which today is Monday my 10 ride ran out she said july 3rd Im getting my first pay check so I went up there today to get second bus pass she refused to give me the bus pass now I lost my job due to urban ministry they literally dont care about a pregnant women getting a job

I volunteered at the Urban Ministry Center last week to help organize and hand out breakfast for Charlottes homeless neighbors. It was pouring rain and to see the faces light up of those who needed shelter and food was life changing. I recommend volunteering with the amazing folks at the Urban Ministry Center to help support their cause to end homelessness in Charlotte.

Becks parents date you know people is homeless people can take you when they only had like maybe you 78 beds maybe for daybeds they tried their best but the same time they need to do a lot more about the man is really struggling they take more females than men and thats bad you know we will be equals to have room for beds for us to it means I want people is in there sleeping good you got the other guys the 14 or maybe men out there in the streets they got to sleep out there just make sure you do your due diligence before you go there

I called and asked if they helped with laundry and showers like their websites says but the lady on the phone said they dont do that anymore. That they basically just give you numbers to call other agencies to help you. Whats the point in that? I could easily look those places up on my phone. I walked almost 30 min to them just to call and say they dont help. But hey, at least theyll give you numbers. So theres that....

After a mental breakdown, my narcissistic sister assaulted me and I had to leave by becoming homeless. Im actually better off. Thank goodness for Rooms in the Inn through Urban Ministries and Promise Resource Network. Both entities are overseeing my efforts to recover and shelter me while doing so! I am so GRATEFUL these community services exist! Each stay/church had comfortable arrangements and kind people. When my own family kicked me out, Mecklenburg County, Rooms and Promise Resource Network stepped in to help!!Thank you.

They dont help you with anything. Leave the homeless standing outside in the cold with their children all morning unlock the gate when they get ready do not help you with resources or get housing....

The Urban Ministry Center is a resource for people in our community that are homeless or challenged in meeting all of their basic needs. The daily meal service that they provide really makes a difference. I am amazingly blessed, so it just makes sense for me to be a volunteer.

They are really great.i am from charlotte and was homeless and a lady named grace manor helped me get my disability.i got my disability in 2010. thank you all for everything.i now live in Birmingham,alabama for 8 years.i am married to a Christian Alabama man.

I rushed down there to do the assessment I was told I needed. But was told by Megan that the womens shelter is full & always is full. My son would have to go to the teen shelter & thats always full as well. So she didnt know what to tell me. What! Absolutely a waste of time! They didnt do anything to help us!

There could, not be a place like this at all in Charlotte to help the homeless and others who are in need, so lets be thankful first of all. Secondly, there are those who are in more need than others, like entire homeless families and then cost for supplies that may get low some times to give out to the homeless, food, clothes, shoes, shelter for the night or several nights. So, for those of you who did not receive the help you wanted, dont blame the Ministry because the help you need might not be the help you want or vis versa, the help wanted might not be the help needed. Dont judge a book by its cover either, because the Mission is whats most important and is a Great one and with all the homeless in Charlotte that this ministry helps we should all be thankful because just to give a $1 or $2 or some coins when you see them on the street may or may not be helping them.But the ministry is helping them with all of the above assistance every day. THIS IS A PLACE FOR INFOMATION... AND HELP FOR THE HOMELESS.. TAKE SHOWER, GET MAIL, MAKE PHONE CALLS..HAVE LUNCH AT 11 AM.. ON DIFFERENT DAYS THEY HAVE TRANSPORTATION TO DIFFERENT PLACES LIKE DSS, DMV, SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICE.

I went there in Charlotte NC to get help because I was homeless at the time. This place is a joke. Some of the people that work there have nasty attitudes.

Ive never seen any breakfast. The Urb helps out some with laundry, showers, some counseling but unless you ate a drug addict or an alcoholic, crazy, elderly, have small children, or handicapped you fall between the cracks. There are people who have been given a place to live that lost it only to receive another 5 or 6 times.The community donates clothes and stuff but we never get any.Im thankful for the Room in the Inn program from December 1st to March 31St. Thats when a few churches open their doors to let a lot of ungrateful people eat, wash up, and sleep for the night out of the elements.I appreciate that. Thank you.

I was sexually harassed yesterday, and the police absolutely did nothing. He actually banned me instead. I did not hit or harass anyone. I police on call said I was not sexually harassed because he not touch me.

Staff here do not fully connect with the major issues from the Homeless people that need services! Building needs major renovations and upgrades! The Rooms Inn Program that starts in December, caters more to Women and children than for Men! Men are out numbered, and the rules for admission leave men stranded outside, hungry with no other options for a free place of shelter! Tax payers are wasting money on the Urban Ministry Center to fail in not meeting the needs and not providing the services needed in 2018 to reshape the Homeless problem in Charlotte!
