This is the branch I used when I worked in Downtown. I could always get in and out without any parking lot hassle. I wish all of Downtown had free parking. I dont recall there ever being long lines either. No complaints here.
They held my package for delivery even though they couldve delivered it to my mail room at my college and I cant go there myself because I do not have my car with me and when I tried to call I never got the chance to speak to an actual person!!! The automated voice just kept taking me in circles over and over again. I called at 4:45 and I stay on the phone with the fake voice trying to talk to a human until they closed at 5 and it still told me that all the representative were busy when they had 5 minutes left until close
Package got delivered to the wrong address and was left on the sidewalk on a busy street and was stolen. Gave two stars because the workers at post office were very patient at trying to help me figure out where my package was delivered and gave me the delivery address.
The United States Post Office on East Bay Street in Charleston is one of my favorite post offices in the area. It is very convenient and easy to access and get in and out of when you are in the area and need to take care of your postal needs. There always seems to be plenty of good parking available and they have excellent customer service. I have had a really positive experience every time I have been through here.

It is so rare to find a post office that has kind and efficient employees. This is by far the best post office I have been to. They are always helpful, fast, multitasking and amazing! Every front desk operator has taken time to ensure mail gets to the right location. Michael is always in a positive mood!
Normally the service that I receive at this location is very good. Friendly postal workers seem to be the norm. However this past week has strained my favorable assessment of the service. I Iost 2 money orders while in the post office last week. I was given a name and a phone number for the clerk who helped me in an attempt to get the serial numbers on the money orders. I have yet to hear back from him and keep getting the hes away at lunch excuse when I call the number eventhough I ve called at different times of the day. In 2 days it will be a week that Ive been trying to get this resolved.
Finally! Thank you Postmaster for finally getting a decent teller at this location. The last three times I have visited the East Bay P.O., Jamal has waited on me. Hes informative, swift, and very pleasant. Every time he has wished me a nice day. Finally, its a pleasure to visit this post office. Now, if you could bring in three more people just like him it would be great. Thank you Jamal for for your kindness and help!

Somehow they can deliver my mail but not my packages, my tracking keeps saying that they were unable to access the address. There is a barrier on one side of the road due to construction, so you drive around it. Then you can access my address.I tried calling the location to discuss the package issue, and not once have they answered the phone. At one point they just blocked my number - so someone was able to interact with the phone system, they just didnt feel like answering. I will be ordering through private delivery means like FedEx from now on, no wonder USPS cant fund itself properly.
I havent gotten my package and it has been almost a month...and now I have to wait even LONGER....When my package got sent I was traveling home for two weeks....no one ever left me a slip for me to know I need to pick it up before I left. I left and tried getting it sent back to the sender(my mom) so I could get the package before I went back to SC....NO ONE DID ANYTHING...I tried requesting a redelivery back to sender 5 times.....So I called the post office for them to leave it be and not send it back (Because they send back packages that are unclaimed after 15 days) since I would be back in SC in a couple days...the lady on the phone agreed and said they would keep it there for me to pick up...I get back and check the tracking info and it says it was SENT BACK TO THE SENDER....ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? This was a really important package that really should not be traveling back and forth and now I have to wait another month to get it??........Ive had so many issues with this post office and no one seems to be fixing any of them...

I had a business P.O. Box for a year at this location. Every few weeks I would receive mail in my box, which was clearly marked for OTHER p.o. box numbers and clearly addressed to other people. An item of mail went missing and I never received it. I assume it was put into someone elses mailbox. Its not rocket science and not difficult to actually look at the mail before you stuff it into the wrong number. I would not recommend this location based on that alone.

Wish I could give 0 stars. Long story short, I paid extra money for faster shipping, everything went well until USPS, which received my parcel early the morning it was supposed to arrive, and then never delivered it to the final address. I called before the end of the day, and the phone was suspiciously busy... every subsequent time I called. Finally got a hold of one of the call center people who put me through to this post office, which was unsurprisingly NOT busy. I asked where my parcel was, she said (annoyed) that it had already arrived. I called my mail room to verify this, and they said no parcel had been delivered all day. Im inclined to believe them. This means that whomever I spoke to at USPS made something up to get me off of the phone. Enraged I called back, and of course no one answered. I tried until 4:41PM, and kept getting the busy tone on the phone. Post office does not close until 5:00PM supposedly, and the call center accepts calls until 4:45PM. Evidently, neither of these are true or enforced. USPS is horrible and needs to either get better or close for good.
In the last twenty years, I have never seen enough 1st class stamps in the stamp machine. No matter the reason Ive had to stand in line, youre there for an hour. Staff is rude, slow and incompetent. Good luck if youre picking something up!Go to a different Post Office unless you just need to drop off some off something that ALREADY has postage and can fit in the drive-up mail boxes. You wont regret it.
It is a post office, what do you expect. much like the dmv, it is frequently crowded. it has been my experience that they usually go through their lines quickly. caution: if you are going for your passport, their hours are irregular and the line is almost always long and it takes forever.
This is a vital location for the mail system in this area. The staff works steadily to move through the line of customers, but it seems that they could be a little bit quicker and more helpful over the phone.
Lost my package, and then offered little to no help while not following through with the help they did offer.
Everytime I come here they NEVER have what I need. You would think that the post office would have more than 2 stamps in the entire place. They always just tell me to go online for whatever i need. Not much help. Go to a different one.
If I could give this organization less than one star I would. Ever since our mailman got reassigned, the mail has been a mess. We are constantly getting our neighbors mail and our neighbors are constantly getting ours. Great for us because our neighbors on both sides live mostly elsewhere so we are constantly missing bills, checks, packages. We have even spoken kindly to the mail deliverer to try and get that resolved and with each person its just an angry cold stare, instead of a whoops sorry Ive been misdelivering everyones mail constantly. It got to the point where we have a notice on our door stating the address asking the deliverer to please note it. With this we are still getting the wrong mail. Today I was tracking a package thats a bday present and it was out for delivery from 8 am. Finally at 530 we got our mail. No package, not even with the neighbors. I tracked it and it said left notice. 1) there is no notice -here or at the neighbors. 2) since when do they leave a notice? Our packages are left strewn wherever they toss it and suddenly theyre saying they left a notice? Right. Then I drove to east bay thinking I would catch them as they were returning. Just 3 mailmen sitting in the parking lot. I explained the situation and they couldnt have been less helpful. Just like our local mailmen they seemed a mixture of confused and annoyed; the rest just stared blankly. I know their job must be so stressful getting paid 50k to drop off mail in the wrong slots.The best part? The form online to fill out requesting re delivery for the mail I missed doesnt even work.Lets not also forget how one mailman maced my 20 pound french bulldog on my property just because he barked at him. The WORST

The absolute worst post office! Had a package that was sent to Charleston, and someone from their facility crossed out Charleston and wrote CAMDEN, South Carolina and the package was sent around the state for at least a month. Wouldnt normally care but my nephews didnt get their Christmas present in time because of their mistake. And they would not admit to it! Really terrible customer service. Associates response to me was, What do you want me to do about it?.
These people are not needed and they act like it, just put a scale out there and a label printer and a payment device ..boom done
