I knew this place was going to be good. I have been reviewing places for 4 years on Google maps and have reviewed 184 places,but I have NEVER seen a business with a 5 star rating with 168 reviews. That’s AMAZING! You always get some crack pots who are never satisfied! I was very satisfied with my experience at Chapel Hill DDS. They are working very hard to make your experience pleasant and pleasing. They did for me. I haven’t been to a dentist in 3 years because of a move and the Pandemic. I expected a list from them of procedures they would like to preform. There weren’t any! They simply took X-rays, checked my gums and cleaned my teeth. What a relief!! My wife and I will be going back and using Dr. James Furgurson from now on. I highly recommend this company!!

Dr. Furguson and the entire staff always make me feel comfortable and provide excellent dental care. Dr. Furguson provides great diagnostic care in addition to his excellent care for my teeth and gums.He is the best dentist that I have ever had.Note that he has provided painless and compassionate dental care for my wife who has had a phobia about dentists for years. Both of us really appreciate his care and my wife is extremely happy she found him and the staff.

Dr. Furguson took me on as a client knowing I had a deep phobia about dentists. He listens to me. He talks with me, not at me and he listens to me about my problem. Excellent Practice. Had my first visit today and am very impressed with the thoroughness, attention to detail and professionalism of this group. They made going to the dentist easy and very informative.

I hate writing this negative review, but I feel its important for other people to know. The office staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, the office was always clean. I switched providers only because the billing practices of the office changed - They now bill the patient for the full amount, and make the patient be reimbursed from insurance. This is one more thing for me to worry about, so I sought another provider.At the new provider, the doctor again observed my severe TMJ. Chapel Hill Family & Cosmetic Dentistry recommended a guard for my TMJ; they said insurance would not cover it and it would cost over $800 out of pocket. At my very first appointment at the new provider, within 10 minutes, they got the guard covered by my insurance, so the out of pocket expense is $130. Unfortunately, this makes me wholly distrust the billing and insurance practices of Chapel Hill Family & Cosmetic Dentistry.

I have ALS and had not been to the dentist in over a year. During the pandemic I became wheelchair bound and stated having trouble breathing when lying down. So i was very stressed about getting my teeth cleaned. Dr. Furgurson arranged O2 for me and Lindsay clened my teeth standing over my wheelchair. It was, by far, the best experience Ive ever had getting my teeth cleaned and checked at any dentist. Id give them 10 stars, if I could..

As someone who is always anxious sitting in a dentist chair, I felt completely relax I’m the hands of a competent hygienist (Lindsay) who explained everything to me. As a certified infection control practitioner ( which the practice was not aware), I watched how they wiped everything down, performed hand sanitation, and kept me safe as they wore mask and limited any exposure. I was very impressed and will recommend that my family transition to this practice.

Chapel Hill Family & Cosmetic Dentistry is the best! They have always been a wonderful place to visit for dental care, and COVID-19 has not affected their efficiency or professionalism at all. Everyone in the office followed safety guidelines and made me feel comfortable. My hygienist was Jessica and she was awesome! My teeth cleaning was painless, and she was very informative with advice for home care. Dr. Furgurson is very thorough with his exam as well and always friendly. All around, a very professional and pleasant experience! 10/10 would recommend this office to all of my friends and family.

This is the first regular visit/cleaning I’ve had since the pandemic (normally I go twice a year). The practice has always had high standards, so not surprisingly the processes they have in place for patients and staff made me feel 100% safe (I’ve already scheduled follow up work for November). From the front office to Jessica (my dental hygienist) to Dr. White, everyone was great to work with. Dr. White and Jessica both spent time going over the current state of my teeth, the game plan to address some issues we need to address and ask for my input. I particularly appreciated Dr. White asking me what was most important to me in terms of how we prioritized what needs to be addressed. Highest recommendation of this practice.

Well...Do not recall being notified of the billing change of having to now pay upfront then filing for insurance. This was a previous convenience that I liked. Now I have to pay upfront, if i use my FSA card I then have to pay the difference to the FSA provider once reimbursed. Need to research other options.Update - After discussing we were able to resolve our understanding and appreciate Dr. Furgurson reaching out to make sure that happened.

There IS a reason I was referred specifically to Dr. Ferguson for dental work. Maybe you’ll see why in this review. I had another dentist at some point build up some teeth for me (After 7-9 years they had eventually started to show spots and stains). Last week during my every 6 month cleaning I was feeling ready to get my teeth back in the shape I once had. Two days later Dr. Ferguson was able to fit me in and finish the work within a couple of hours. The cost compared to Veneers was much less. Veneers may be in the plan down the road but if every 7-10 years they can keep giving me the outcome I got today, I may stick with this!! If there was a spot for a photo I’d stick it in here. Dr. Ferguson is a true artist. Oh, and all of the staff are really great also, all of them. Thank you all! Dr. Vandersea across the breezeway is very VERY good if you need any type of mouth work Dr. White & Dr. Ferguson don’t do. Thank you again.Lawrence

I’ve been having my dental care provided by Chapel Hill Family and Cosmetic Dentistry for a number of years. I was really nervous about keeping my regular four month cleaning appointment during these COVID Pandemic days. The staff are taking extra measures to assure the safety of all who enter the facility. While it is expected that dentistry take hygiene seriously, everyone here has demonstrated an elevated level of commitment which I greatly appreciate.

For starters I didn’t wait very long for my appointment. “V” did a great job with my cleaning. Dr White took his time and made mefeel as a valued patient.

I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Ferguson because I needed a 2nd opinion on something a previous dentist had told me. He listened to what my previous dentist had told me and kindly answered ALL of my questions! A pleasure to go to. Im sad Ill be moving out of state and have to leave the practice, because they are the best! I came here even though it was out of network on my insurance. All the staff has always been very kind and attentive. Jessica from the front office is very friendly and timely with all communications. Mrs. Suczynski was my hygienist most of the times I came, and she is incredibly kind and thorough. She walked me through using a WaterPik and gave me advice about it when I mentioned I wanted to get one. And finally, Dr. White is an absolute gem! He is so nice and talks you through any procedure, plus he has a very calm disposition about everything. He fixed multiple places where my previous dentist messed up, and worked carefully with billing to best accommodate my insurance. When I had a bad reaction to the epinephrine in the lidocaine injections, he reassured me over the phone and gave me advice, and then made a note in my file so in later visits they would use no or minimal epi. And before the next procedure, he reminded me that he remembered what happened before and would not be using epi. I felt very comfortable and reassured. Finally, multiple people at the practice encouraged me to shop around when I wanted a new set of retainers and were very up front about the cost. Excellent, honest people!

I think the first thing to mention, with any doctor, is how skilled they seem. Dr. White is definitely that. In addition, hes a great listener and communicator, he goes out of his way to be helpful, and hes good-natured. Those last observations are also true of his staff. I very highly recommend Dr. White.

I felt very comfortable considering the Covid 19 situation! All the staff is great and had state of the art practices.

I was recommended to try this dentistry and made my first appointment with their dental hygienist, Ashton Singer. Ashton was very thorough and quick to diagnose an ongoing problem I have had, which is teeth grinding. She actually showed me close up pictures of my teeth and the cracks that needed attention. I had never seen my teeth in the back :( - I was impressed!! Ashton took her time to not only clean my teeth but she guided me to Dr. Ferguson for my new crowns! Dr. Ferguson, Kristie the assistant and my new hygienist, Ashton have won me over! After my crowns were completed, I left with ZERO pain, a very short numbing period, and did not need Advil at all after my treatment. Theres a reason this place has amazing reviews, yall! Like a lot of other people, I have a good amount of dental anxiety when it comes ot getting my teeth worked on. Im new to the area and heard about this place from a coworker who said he doesnt like going to the dentist either but this place changed his mind.From the initial phone call scheduling a time with Stephanie, to leaving my appointment I was treated with nothing but kindness and respect. Ashton is caring and funny. She did a great job answering the random questions I had while making the overall x-ray cleaning process as pleasant as it can be. Dr.White was relaxed, warm and conversational. Definitely not what I expected from a cleaning/x-ray appointment. I just cant say enough nice things!Im getting my fiance to come here now and know well stay here for as long as we live in a driving radius. Thanks again!

I hate going to the dentist. They knew this and made it a point to be as kind as possible. The dental hygienist was absolutely the most skilled and knowledgeable I have ever had. Today I had a problem crown replaced by Dr Furgurson. If I could give ten stars I would!!! Everything was PHENOMENAL. The way he numbed me was the most exquisite I have ever experienced (and I’ve had a bunch of occasions for this!): I didn’t feel a thing, and the numbing was very localized to the tooth itself (not spread to the jaw or tongue, etc).Next, he had to take off this crown that was very tightly bonded to the tooth. My former dentist spent, no exaggeration, 1 hour with a vibrating drill taking off a previous, cracked crown, making my whole head vibrate. Dr Furgurson, wielding a barely buzzing special diamond drill, had the crown out in, no joke, 10 minutes!! He continued with exquisite attention to detail down to the color of the crown. Sam, his assistant, was especially kind every step of the way, from rubbing my shoulder during numbing to adjusting the temporary and getting me Advil at the end! This is clearly the best dentist and dental team I have had in my life, and very compassionate to boot!! Thank you so much Dr Furgurson and Sam :)

David is only the third dentist I have had in Chapel Hill in over 40 years. Each dentist recommended the next one and that is how my wife and I go to Dr. Hoyle. He and his staff are truly caring, thoughtful professionals. What strikes me as most important is that the hygienists dont rotate in for short stints (as I have heard from other friends who dont use David.) That stability in the staff provides great continuity of care.

I have been seeing Dr. Furgurson for over a year now and can honestly say I am extremely pleased with his professionalism, his chair-side-manner, and his thoroughness in explaining what the procedure is and what he will be doing. So no surprises!I also have had a couple of emergency situations come up whereby I had to contact him after hours and on the weekend and he responded or answered his emergency number within a hour or immediately. Knowing you have that kind of service available if needed is very reassuring.Overall, excellent dentist with extremely professional staff. Wow! What a welcoming and competent office. And Dr. Furgurson is patient, friendly and maybe most importantly is a highly skilled dentist. His hygiene staff uses the latest methods for preventative cleaning and clearly are the cream of the crop. Dr. Furgurson did a crown for me and I felt no pain at any point in the procedure. Even the numbing procedure was pain free. He clearly uses the latest techniques and is very careful both to make the patient comfortable---and in his procedures. Measure twice---cut once is a good motto here. The office is very nicely decorated and staff are very friendly and warm. You will be in good hands here.

So happy to have found him! After moving to the area, I was disappointed with a couple of other dentists. Dr. Hoyle is so wonderful to work with, he takes his time, I never feel rushed. And he insists on making sure Im comfortable, which is surprisingly not that easy to find! I moved my children to Dr. Hoyle from a pediatric dentist office because hes much better with them, and he really knows his stuff. The work has been excellent!

One of my crowns came out and they very quickly made me an appointment to come in and Dr. White was able to re-cement it back in place with minimal discomfort and cost. Everyone is very friendly (including Jennifer at checkout) and wants your experience to be pleasant and very concerned about your comfort throughout the process.

Dr. Hoyle genuinely cares about his patients, and not just their teeth! Davids skills and knowledge as a dentist are evident. But it is his unabashed passion for dentistry that makes me actually look forward to my dental appointments as strange as that sounds. He is always patient in answering all of my questions. And, honestly, sometimes I wish I had gone to dental school instead. Never thought Id be friends with my dentist, but Ive been going to Davids office for three years, and I consider David one of my dearest friends. Last year I moved out of the state, but whenever I visit NC, I make sure to see David for a dental checkup and to catch up.

I have been seeing Dr Hoyle for several years. I dont like dentist and he always makes the visits very pleasant. He also has a wonderful group of clinicians working with him. I feel I am professionally under excellent care with Dr. Hoyle and his entire staff.
