I would give a zero if I could. The motor on our ac unit stopped working. We took the motor in with to show them what we needed and to make sure we got the right motor to replace the broken one. After telling them what happened and showing them the motor, t brought us the right motor. When we got home and installed the motor, we went to turn the ac unit back on and the motor worked for about a minute then just shut off. We ended up calling an HVAC technician to come out to our house and come to find out they sold us a motor for an indoor furnace, not an ac unit. So even though we had it wired correctly, it died on us because its not meant for an ac unit. On top of that they will not refund the money we paid for THEIR mistake even though we brought the original motor in with us so this wouldnt happen. This is not the first bad experience we have had here but it is the last. We will never use this company again and never recommend them. Do not use this business. They just want your money. Its Arizona and the start of 110+. This is not the time to be screwing people over.
I generally love Hendel’s. Bought a new 5 Ton American Standard unit from them & it hums. Installer both friendly & knowledgeable. Pricing decent. So I also sent them a referral completed Sale for a large unit for my CEO. But they have to tweak their service timing. I just canceled “routine maintenance” today because I couldn’t afford to continue to take time off work to hang around for a full 4hrs. Once inside that window, they should have the scheduling timing or software to quantify that. I know in the summer units go down. They can prioritize those—I would gladly go last ! But simply give me better time frame once well INSIDE the window. I could live with an hour or two perhaps. Frustrating !!EDIT: I very much appreciate the response from someone at Hendels on the updated service scheduling. But all they did is re-iterate what I already knew. A 30 minute call JUST before does not address the situation. I STILL have to block out the entire 4 hour window of my work day ! I routinely get OTHER services done (I get my carpet cleaned at least twice a yr, if not more--but that is just one example) and ONCE you arriving up upon that 4 hour slot, those other entities are able to THEN tell me when (within an hour or two) they will be arriving. So I can schedule in some of my own work. IF I am NOT mistaken, Hendels still claims they WILL arrive within that 4 hour window (unless later), correct ?? Or maybe they cant commit because at the end of those 4 hours they say--SORRY--we have to push you to another day (?) So they SHOULD be able to give you a better window---at that time. I know Hendels is a very busy company. I appreciate that. But their customers are ALL busy as well.

I have just moved to Queen Creek AZ, and this is my first summer here…. Well as luck would have it my AC system stopped working Saturday. Because I still have a home warranty plan I called them just to find out no one could come out for at least end of next week, so decided to take a look at unit myself and found a dead run capacitor, so after calling several HVAC companies trying to get the capacitor they wouldn’t sell it directly to me. I finally found Hendel’s doing a search and called them, I spoke to a wonderful young lady and after explaining what I needed she looked and did not find the part on the shelves so of course now I am thinking that I was going to have to wait until next week, but Kimberly did not give up and searched stock on their service truck and found one for me on a Sunday!!. Well you now have a customer for life!!. I will be contacting your sales department for an estimate on a mini-split unit for the master bedroom to avoid this problem in the future!!. I will recommend you to anyone that asks!.

Sharing a post from my aunt... shes not very computer savvy...***Bought system few years ago from them, did not get extended warranty, thats on me. Had confrontation with office person. Had bad leak from broken part. Called for maintenance today, she said theyre not doing Evacs now. Really! Most people in AZ have evap coolers! I know theyre busy, but, when you deal with cancer, our cooler needs to work. Unsympathetic, not recommending Hendels AC to anyone!
Met a wonderful person who helped me. She knew I was a novice at repairing my a/c and gave me valuable information in installing a condenser fan. She was the daughter of the man who started this business 50 years ago. He started out by reading a book on air conditioners. The place has a bunch of cool collectables. Prices were about 30% of a service call. Easy fix...
Hendels is a fair and honest company. They assisted me on two occasions to get my AC back up and working, which extended the life of my old unit by 3 years. Then when it finally gave out and started leaking coolant they installed a new, high quality system at a reasonable price. Everyone I dealt with was very responsive and professional. I highly recommend them.
Thankful for this place. My condenser fan crapped out yesterday (Sunday) and had to call off work today to get it fixed. Thankfully not were they only open, Columbus Day, but are open to the public to buy parts. Everywhere else will only sell to contractors. Friendly, inviting staff, and reasonable pricing. Thank you again as I sit in my once again cooled off house. Will definitely use in the future.

My family and I have used Hendels previously, and I am always very satisfied with the work they do. This time was no exception. When my AC unit was starting to go out, I decided to replace it before it went completely out. Hendels came and gave me a fair estimate and within a few days I had a new AC and the house was much cooler. Mario and Abraham were amazing. They worked hard and cleaned everything up immaculately when they were done. Hendels sent someone out the next day to repair my garage/attic opening which was not large enough for the unit, and you cannot even tell anything was done to it! I will definitely call on Hendels again in the future.

We had a wonderful experience with Hendels. Our first summer in AZ and the heat is unbearable. We called the warranty company only to wait 5 days for a repairman to come out and tell us he wouldnt be able to get the part we needed for 5 days-2 weeks. Called Hendels on a recommendation of a neighbor. They were out the next morning and go figure they carry parts in their trucks. Luckily for us they repaired the 14 years old a/c, however due to the age of the units we decided to replaced with of course Hendels units. The replacement of 2 units and a furnace took one day and we were back on track for cooling in our home. The professionalism of the workers, and office manger was exceptional. We couldnt have asked for a better experience. We would highly recommend HENDELs

The capacitor in my A/C unit threw in the towel on a Saturday at 6 PM. Not only was Hendels the only ones open but the were super helpful and had what I needed. Hands down the best service I have had in a long time! P.S. they have an awesome antique collection in their showroom!

My AC went out on a Sunday. I needed an odd capacitor that wasnt readily available at the usual suspects (Home Depot, Lowes, etc). I checked Amazon and the earliest I could have one delivered was 3 days (no prime availability). With a baby at home this was no bueno. I found Hendels (I had never heard of them before). Not only were they open but they had the part I needed as well.The staff was friendly, helpful, and professional. The woman who sold me the part said she was the owners daughter. She even opened the cap and tested it in front of me before it was rung up.The part was a little overpriced (about $15 more than listed by others on the net) but no biggie. The other guys werent open anyway.Its been a long time since Ive experienced service as good as this, and it was at 4:15pm on a Sunday!

The tech did a good job.However, there are some things you should know before you do business with Hendels. First, Hendels now adds a 3% surcharge if you pay by credit card. Fortunately, we had $1,000 dollars in the bank and could write a check.The second thing you should know is that replacing a fan motor and adding 1 pound of refrigerant will cost you close to a $1,000.Here is a break-down of Hendels invoice:- Trip and Diagnostic Charge - $129- Condenser fan motor (Century) - $609.54- Service Labor - $100- Refrigerant R- 410 - $79.89For at total of $918.41The Century 1/3 to 1/8 HP Condenser Fan Motor, 825 RPM, is available on the internet for $161.

Excellent response time with my issue with the digital thermostat that they installed when they installed a new 6,000.00 heat pump. The thermostat locked me out! I wish they would have been proactive in letting me know this was even a possibility and I would have certainly kept the code to unlock the thermostat myself when the lock out happened. Cost was 100.00 just to have someone come to my house and enter a code into my thermostat. Seems like a policy that needs to be revisited and then more customer friendly/proactive at the installation.

We noticed our heat pump blowing warm air at about 1:00 p.m. We shut unit off, tried a breaker re-set, no luck. Called Hendels for a service call at about 1:30 p.m., and a tech came out @ 3:00. Our fear was true, our 18 year old unit needed replacement. Bob the estimator called with our options, and he was here by 5:00 p.m. to measure for new unit. Abraham and Javier completed installation by 1:00 p.m. next day. Cant say enough about Hendels service! Outstanding!!

I have Hendels come out every year for an overall system check. They are always on time and the technicians are knowledgeable and courteous. Their system check rates are very reasonable and they do not try to push extra work on you. In fact, the last visit revealed a contact point that was beginning to wear but he said it would probably last another 2 years and they would keep an eye on it next year. Highly recommend.

Were really glad we chose these guys. We were getting quotes from air conditioning companies already, until our unit died on a Sunday. We called Hendels and found out they dont charge any extra on weekends or holidays. I was already leaning toward them anyways as their quote was the best, but to find out that they dont charge more to us was just phenomenal! - Made it a no-brainer!Everything from beginning to end was top-notch service. From the customer care people who sent out the tech who gave us our quote, to the installation and them programming our thermostat to work with our phones, to them showing us all the features... What a treasure to find after a night with no A/C! Our capacitor went bad and we were certain we would have to call someone for such a simple fix, but after a quick Google search, I found that they not only were going to be open the next day, a holiday (the 4th of July), but they were also willing to sell capacitors to the public, which is rare (we could have ordered online, but it would not have arrived for 5 days, which was out of the question). When we arrived the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The woman assisting us was quick to get us the capacitor and was also quick to get us on our way. The price was also extremely reasonable for quick access and convenience to what we needed to get cool air. I highly recommend Hendels Air Conditioning and we would gladly be customers in the future! We will be sure to recommend them to any friends or family in need of A/C parts or repairs.
We own some rental properties, and this is the third system we have bought from Hendels in the last year (lucky us). This time it was for our home unit, and we knew who we were going to call when our 23 year old split system finally gave out. Each time, we got a fair price, and it was installed by a clean cut crew that showed up on time. They maybe called me sir a few too many times, but they all did excellent work, left a clean work sight, and hauled away all the old parts. I really like that they replace a number of adjacent components like the shut off, the pad under the unit and the thermostat, so you really end up with a new installation, not dependent on those 25 year old parts. Last and certainly not least, at the end you get a form all filled out by Hendels to sign and send to SRP for a $400 rebate...sweet. Great company, I am sure you will be happy.

Had a capacitor go out on A/C unit, only store around that will sell to non-contractors. Service there was great and very helpful. Hendel’s will be the first company we call when any A/C needs arise in the future which we can’t handle ourselves. BTW, awesome store, worth a visit just to check out the old historical items inside.

Nick and Tommy arrived promptly and installed the 2 a/c units. They worked diligently and cleaned up well. Sam worked late to resolve and electrical short. Mike the install manager followed up the next morning to assure the job was completed to our satisfaction. all were personable and professional. Jim, the salesman, had the knowledge of the product and helped us choose the right unit. We appreciated them all!

Our AC/Heat Pump got to the point of sounding like a commercial jet airplane taking off every time it started up so we finally replaced it. My wife and I are both the types that do a lot of research, and after A Lot Of Research we settled on Hendels to put in our new system. We can not be happier both with the result and the process of working with them.Bob Yee is the nicest no hype informative person we met in our search for a replacement and is a big reason we went with Hendels. Bob listened to understand our concerns and was detailed in his inspection of the physical aspects of installing the new air handler to make sure there would be no problems when it got installed. We chose a mid range efficiency American Standard system. The installation went very smooth and took no time at all compared to what we expected.We have already recommended Hendels to a couple other folks and certainly recommend them to you. Were enjoying how much quieter the new system is (and our next door neighbor is much happier as well).

Needed a part for one of my condensing units that failed over the weekend and they were open, on a Sunday, with the part in stock. Saved us from a long hot day indoors without the main A/C unit in July. The part was quite a bit more than I would have paid if I could have purchased it elsewhere during the week, but when you need A/C, you gotta go with whats available and I thank Hendels for being open when everyone else is not.

A/c temp rise from 78 to 81 degrees during hot part dayCalled Hendels sent tech out diagnosed bad condenser fan motor on Sundayordered motor and replaced it Tuesday afternoon and it did not fix the problem for almost 1300 dollars. Motor on line cost 475 dollars so we have 800 dollars in labor for 1/2 hour to replace the condenser fan motor and I stood there and watched so I knew how long it tookSent another tech Tuesday evening and he diagnosed it as bad compressor motor but wanted 2nd opinionService manager came out Wednesday afternoon and diagnosed as leak in the system and low on a/c 401 . Added a/c 401 at no charge and system works fineStill have to find the leak another tech coming the following Thursday to find the leakAsked for the condenser fan motor back from Tuesday evening tech, service manager on Wednesday and the office personnel on Wednesday and they claimed they scrapped it .I am not a a/c person but have a hard time believing that the motor and the system leak were both bad when the system was working fine prior to acting up on SaturdayTech was suppose to come out today and find the leak but after thinking about the charge for labor and condenser fan motor and not returning the motor to me I lost all confidence in their integrity and honesty . Will look for another company to find the leak

Hendels recently installed an American Standard 4 ton two-stage Heat Pump in my residence. The quality of the equipment and controls are excellent, the installation was top notch and very professional. I would recommend Hendels / American Standard to any and all needing a replacement Air Conditioning system.
Technicians and installers were courteous and professional. They finished the work (what I consider a very difficult install job in a difficult location) in a very reasonable time. They then took time to explain care of the system, cleaning of the filter, thermostat operatin, paperwork to fill out- they then did a final cleanup of the work area. Now, the house is COOL again! When purchasing parts from this company please keep in mind... Their zero returns policy also means zero returns when parts are faulty out of the box. Granted this happens in small percentage of parts sold, but this company should acknowledge this, especially with one week of purchase. I have a hard time believing that the manufacturers they are distributing from have a zero return policy, it seems more likely they just dont want to deal with the hassle. This coupled with a rude response = horrendous customer service!

This is a family run business with a lot of charm. Go to the showroom and talk to people, its very easy to see why people trust the business; however in spite of that, it is only right for me to share my experience with an extremely poorly installed HVAC which failed throughout its much curtailed lifespan.In 2007 the company installed an HVAC on my property, a rooftop packaged heatpump of 4 tons capacity. After just 6 months, the system had a faulty starter capacitor. Over the course of the next 12 years, the system had multiple minor and major (basically catastrophic) failures, including:- start capacitor failures yearly- extreme vibration and noise- leaks caused by vibration, resulting in total loss of R22 charge 2 separate timesThe unit has finally failed after its *third* failure resulting in a partial refrigerant charge loss.So what does this have to do with Hendels? Well, it has everything to do with the installation job performed by the company... heres why:Rooftop packaged heatpumps come installed in two ways, horizontal, or vertical; the former is how my house is arranged and how Hendels installed the unit. This means there is a large elbow attaching the unit to the rooftop where the supply and return ducts should pass. Inside of this elbow a major major mistake was made which cost the unit its lifespan and even showed signs of the mistake since that first starter capacitor blew in the 6th month....Inside of the elbow, instead of running the supply directly to the supply opening, and the return directly to the return opening, the installers ended up needing to switch the sides... to achieve this, inside of the elbow they ducted a 14 flex duct section and routed it from one side to the other (like a z shape) producing a severely kinked and constrained return duct.As a result of this, the HVAC could never breathe properly. In fact, as measured with an anemometer, the return would only flow roughly half of the airflow specified by the HVAC in tonnage, where 4 tons is roughly 1600 CFM. The after-effects of this on an HVAC are catastrophic over time, resulting in poor superheating which results of operation out of the nominal envelope... these things are written in the manual when you install a packaged heatpump and are very important and should never be ignored.It is easy enough to put a packaged heatpump on a rooftop... it literally takes 20 minutes with a crane company and this process would cost a layman $55. With all of the remaining time and money, the last thing I would expect is a shoddy and incorrect job, coupled to literally zero post-install analysis and verification... which should include flow measurement, superheat measurement, and gas pressure checking at minimum.Be careful fellow homeowners, you dont always get what you pay for. Watch what installers are doing and never take their word for it; trust but verify.Update Oct 21 2019 (In response to the owners comment):Actually, your example perfectly illustrates the problem about the perception of a *correctly* working air conditioner and the reality of one that isnt. At risk of belaboring the point to those who *do* understand this, let me explain...When (air) flow is low, the result is that the air leaving the evaporator is colder than it would be if the flow was nominal. Its the same effect as dropping an ice cube into a shot glass of water vs. a cup of water. The greater the mass, the less cooling effect. Same for air, cause air has mass. Heres a Google search: cowboysac ac-troubleshooting-whats-causing-my-low-airflowSo, yes, measuring temps during a home inspection would pass the inspection. I wonder if thats the same level of inspection that your techs used when they verified my AC? 🤔
These guys (and gals) were super helpful! The day before Christmas Eve my heater starting making a racket. They got me a blower wheel the next business day. When i replaced that it would blow air really well....cold air. I screwed something up! Then they let me in at 4:55pm and tested my capacitors before selling me any. Then as I was walking out she told me to check my thermostat batteries too. Sure enough they were dead, or about 5% life left. I don’t know if it was the dead capacitor or the dead batteries but the heater came back to life and I got to cancel my pending service call for the next day. I am definitely going to call them next time I have an ac or heater issue.

It is good to know that there are reliable and trustworthy Ari Conditioning companies like Hendels out there. Especially in Arizona! The technicians know what they are doing and they dont try to sell you something you dont need. Just keeping us cool.
They came out to do work on my business and replaced a fuse (after showing up over an hour after their window since the scheduler allegedly didnt put us on the schedule), which fixed the issue, but insisted I would need a new compressor or new 5 Ton unit altogether. I asked a client of mine that owns a commercial HVAC company to give me a second opinion and after extensive tests he assured me the unit was fine and did not need a new compressor. Trust is huge in business, and it has been broken in this case. I will not use them again nor recommend them.
Called in to request a service call and was told they only service new units they install. I just installed my mini split and was request a tech come out and vacuum down the system and was told they do not want to assist and be liable. Don’t see any difference with a tech attaching to lines on a new system or an old system on my room. Worst response ever from a customer service provider.
Ive lived in the valley all my life so Ive used many A/C companys in the past 30 years. My experience with Hendels was a great experience to finally find a company that is fair, honest and fast. I will be using Hendels for the next 30 years.
