No one answers the phones at anytime of the day (called for 2 days). Finally showed up in the lobby to get a car reserved (insurance sent the request over). After 45 minutes I left, called the guys insurance and had them send the payments over to enterprise for my rental. Watched the counter person give every excuse in the world as to why the car was dirty and damaged when another customer came to pick it up. Followed by watching another person WITH A RESERVATION not able to pick up a car due to no availability. I HIGHLY recommend avoiding this location, and possibly hertz entirely.
I just needed a truck for a weekend trip. I called Hertz for help and stressed that a TRUCK was needed beforehand. I show up on late Friday afternoon to start my early weekend only to be informed that they have a SUV for me. The employee simply did not care. Zero attempt to call me earlier on Friday to inform me that they did not have the type of vehicle I needed too.
Id give them negative stars if I could!!They are continuing to book and confirm reservations and they have NO cars available. Not in the class I booked or any other class. Then the guy working there looked at me like I was crazy when I asked him to call around to see if there were cars at other locations. He never apologized for the inconvenience at all. He just kept saying that its a known issue. To you maybe but you never communicated that to customers. This entire experience has been an utter and complete fail!!!
Walked in with a buddy this morning at 8:30am for a one-way rental. Reservation was reserved and confirmed with a debit card. After arriving I was told I needed a credit check and would have to pay $500 hold on my card plus the $200 for rental. Hertz staff was not interested in helping me through the issue.Office seemed very unorganized and in a hurry to provide rentals. Will never be back.
Placed a reservation and prepaid several days in advance. I mistakingly thought the Carmel location would have their ducks in a row in comparison to other Indiana locations. Got there on time for my reservation, short line, no worries. They didn’t have the person’s reservation in front of me, nor did they have mine, again, no worries... I was offered something significantly smaller, with the compensation factor of marking the gas tank as empty so I wouldn’t have to refuel before returning the car. I received a dirty and dented car with the gas light on and 10 miles left in the tank. I then looked at the receipt and saw the $500 deposit. Absolutely laughable. What’s the point of a reservation if it won’t be upheld? Why on earth is the deposit so high for a beat up car with no gas in it, when my last rental was less than half the price and in pristine condition? Definitely worth the trip to Castleton for better quality, or to your nearest enterprise location.
Needed to talk to the service desk directly and have been calling for days, no one ever answers the phone.
The negative reviews are from people that always complain like babies. I’ve been here multiple times each time I’ve had great service. They have clean cars. Everyone is nice. I dropped the car off Sunday like I was supposed to, and was NOT charged an extra day. Thanks to everyone working there.
They do not answer their phone, promise call backs they do not make, blow you off when you come in, tell you to come back at a time then they dont have anything for you and blow you off again. Horrible. If you call corporate they say We cannot control the counter.
Kori was very helpful with my needs for an SUV rental, and went above and beyond to make sure they were met. When I had to make a change due to size preference, he was very accommodating. The reservation was super easy to make through AAA the day before. Thank you, Hertz, for an exceptional experience. I will make future reservations with you if needed, and recommend Hertz to friends.
You reserve a car online only to be told when you get there that they dont have any.....last time I try to rent a car here.
I am very disappointed. I will say I was in and out pretty quick but I was not told there was a deposit and had the reservation that I had it back on Sunday and was not told I would be charged another day because they are closed on Sunday. So sorry another charge that I have to wait 3-5 business days to get back. A little more communication would be nice. I did not sign that I was letting them hold $200. I am not happy at all.
I had to ask them to at least vacuum out the trash in the vehicle and it seemed to be a huge inconvenience. Going to stick with Enterprise.
Bottom line: incompetent staff, will not rent from Hertz again.I arrived on time at noon to pick up my rental, and there was a customer who was already in there being assisted. There was only one employee working the counter and the customer in front of me had to wait for his car to be cleaned by the manager. For some reason the employee at the counter was unable to assist me while the other customer waited for his car to be cleaned, so I sat and waited. After 20 minutes or so the manager comes in and tells the employee at the counter to assist me. He went through the procedure and told me that the total cost comes to $470 dollars. I said that it cannot be, since I paid online and my reservation confirmation clearly states that I have already paid the $191 in full and owe $0 at the counter. He explained that there is a $200 deposit, but I said the numbers still dont add up to $470. He gave me some convoluted explanation on how the numbers add up and said that I will get the money back and the amount I actually pay will be what it says on my reservation. I accepted his explanation and inspected my receipt before I was about to drive off, and noticed there was a young renters fee on there that the employee did not mention at all when he explained how they came up with the $470 charge. Hertzs website states that the young renters fee is waived until the end of the September, so I had to go back in there and demand that fee be removed. The employee said that his manager had to be the one to remove the fee, so I had to wait even longer for the manager to finish cleaning the other customers car. The manager comes back and has to call headquarters to ask how to remove the fee since the receipt had already been printed. While he does that he chastises the employee and told him to only waive the young renters fee if requested by the customer. Look, I get that all car rental companies are scummy penny-pinchers, but its unprofessional to admit that in front of a customer. After this whole fiasco ends, I finally drive off with my rental 40 minutes after I walked in.I thought this was going to be the end of my review, but turns out returning a car is harder than picking it up. I returned my rental at the agreed upon time on Sunday, parked it right in front of their office and dropped the key in the drop box since they were closed. On Tuesday morning I get a robot call from the Hertz headquarters saying my rental car is overdue. I call them back and tell them I returned the car on time, they tell me that I will get a receipt via email in the next 24 hours. On Wednesday morning I get the same robot call again. At this point Im worried that the car got stolen after I dropped it off because there is no way the staff cant find it when its the first thing you see when you walk out of their office. Call them back again, tell them again that I returned the car on time, they tell me I will get a receipt in 24-48 hours and I should just wait. Thursday morning, guess who calls? You know it. Tell them AGAIN that I returned the car on time. I finally get my receipt on Thursday evening (four days after returning it), after spending the past day stressed out about the possibility of something happening to the car after I dropped it off.Since Im here already I might as well mention that the front passenger tire of the car I rented had a leak or something, I had the car for nine days and had to add air to that tire every other day or so.The whole experience was stressful and time-consuming thanks to the incompetent staff, and I personally would not rent from Hertz again.Edit: I filled out a survey from Hertz and included this review. I received this VERY heartfelt and personalized message from the branch manager. HAHA just kidding, he was so incompetent that he addressed it to [customer name]. Really? You can’t even get my name right before you send me a copy and pasted email? I would give them zero stars at this point if I could.
Bought a used car from hertz and had a good experience. They were quick and to the point. Erika was friendly and didnt pressure a buy at all. John was also friendly and had extensive knowledge about the differences between the different vehicles on the lot. Be sure to do your own research on the finance aspect of the vehicle but from the sales perspective the team will help you select the right vehicle for you.
Speedy service. When I returned the rental car, I forgot to take air vent mount for my phone. They kept it. Next day I was leaving the area. I realized I forgot my air vent mount and called Hertz. I was relieved they still had it. I came to pick it up before I went on a long trip.
Discovered tail light was out on a long road trip. Not safe and could have been pulled over. Paid for Sirus but it didnt work. Got a refund.
Terrible customer service and business practices. I made a reservation online and received all of the confirmation through Hertz. I was called by the manager as I was pulling into the parking lot to pick up the vehicle per my appointment, she then informed me that they don’t have the vehicle I reserved. She was completely unapologetic and rude, she would not allow me to escalate the issue, she offered no suggestions or resolutions, she did not attempt to help me with my needs or try to find me the vehicle I needed with another branch in Indianapolis. Her attitude was terrible and she informed me it was my fault that they didn’t have the vehicle because I ordered it last night. Maybe her contemptuous attitude was due to it not being her store as she informed me her “regular store” was in Kokomo. A very disappointing and offensive experience all around. Terrible business practices and lack of customer service. I will inform everyone I know of the poor management of this Branch
The Mgr was rude as soon as he came from the back. Was told we are closed even though we are standing in line to get our car. It was obvious he did not want to help us and he wanted to go home or something. The trainee was doing her best to provide service but he has even rude and disrespectful to her. Worst car rental experience I ever had. Dishonest and deceptive rude and un professional. Would not let me change card I used from a debit to credit told me they then had to do a soft credit check and then was told since Card in my name I had to add my wife as second driver. They then came back and said it would be 104 dollars more to add her I said no I do not want to add her then I was told sorry can’t change it now so I asked for my money back and was told can’t do that either. Have to call customer service. So I left there with no car add now almost 400 dollars of my money stuck in pending with Hertz. After 2 hours of run around got someone that could help but I can’t use that money for 7 to 10 days as that’s how long it will take to reimburse me on my card.
The employees were very helpful and kind. The rental car was great. After hour return is available here too. Please hit thumbs up if this review is helpful.
I had a pleasant experience renting from Hertz in Carmel. It was fast and easy and I had no issues. The representative took the time to let me go out and pick the perfect vehicle for my family. The car was perfect for our trip and returning it was easy too. We only had to add windshield washer fluid to make a ding stop. Cheap and easy fix. Thank you Hertz for a wonderful car rental experience.
Update: Hertz immediately made it right by reimbursing me the cost of the rental and paying for a Lyft to get me back to my car after dropping off the rental. Really appreciate that Hertz!I didnt have a good experience at this particular location. The prepay gas option is totally ridiculous. You pay the cost of the estimated gas in the car you are leasing then can return it at any level of gas you like. Sounds great but what I received was a car running on fumes which I had to fill before driving the 10 miles to work. I needed to extend the term by three days and they applied the same gas fee plus a $10 service charge for the extension. Also the rate was $10 more per day at that point. To top it off I returned the car to the body shop who was to handle the car return. Hertz was notified of the return on the Friday before Memorial day. However they did not pick the car up and happily charged my card $64 a day for 4 days. I called the body shop and they again notified Hertz. You guessed it I was charged again. I actually had to go get the car and bring it to Hertz. I will report whether they stop charging me.
Customer service at this place is absolutely horrible. I had to wait nearly 15 min while a worker was at the counter doing other things before helping me with my reservation. After I returned my vehicle, the worker could not help me with my receipt, and I had to call customer service call center. Will never rent here again, so help me God.
I was in an accident and my insurance company suggested Hertz in Carmel, IN. I called them and they told me they only had a compact car available and suggested that I could try calling another location for something larger. I called the (800)# they eventually connected me to Mr. Rocky who stated He would handle it right away...3 hours later...I called the (800)# back at which time the customer service agent apologized and stated someone dropped the ball and that she would contact someone who could help me right away. It was almost 5pm on the Friday before labor day...I had just handed my keys over to the body shop and I had NO idea if or when I would have a replacement rental!! I then get a call from Hertz District Manager. He began apologizing....stating that Carmel employee must have misunderstood my request and that they have 2 large vehicles there for me to choose from that evening. He gave me the contact name and told me everything would be ready upon arrival. 20 minutes later my husband and I arrived at Hertz in Carmel. We spoke to the person of contact who seemed to be irritated by us immediately. She showed us 2 vehicles...the first was completely dirty (INSIDE and OUT) stating it would need to be cleaned before we took it. The second vehicle was clean so, I confirmed that it had navigation and she agreed. Soon after leaving I quickly realized that IT DIDNT!!! And that it was also in need of an oil change!!! Uhhh!! VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!
I Spoke to 5 different people. I was lied to or disrespected by everybody, except for 1 sweet lady & Im wish I could remember her name, because she made me feel better about a lot of what I was upset about. This was the worst car rental experience I have ever had. Got into a crash so my insurance chose this company not me. Although I rented from Hertz about a year ago & that experience with them was awesome! I was barley acknowledged when I walked in, the first car they pulled up was wrong, the car was filthy, but I was running late for work so I had no time to ask for them to clean it. They agreed to give me an extension, then a few weeks later started sending me threatening text & voicemails about returning the car immediately. I returned the car at the date & time agreed upon. I was told I would be charged one amount, but when I checked my account, they charged me way more. I spoke with several customer service reps & was promised 2 different refund. One for the miscommunication & one for all the trouble. One of those refunds hot my account, but the second one never did. When I called back I spoke to a man named Cory. He talked over me, wouldnt let me finish my sentences & called me a liar. At that point I just decided that they werent going to own up to what was promised & that my peace of mind wasnt worth all of this back & forth. I finally just gave up the fight. I told them that I no longer wanted to have this conversation because I could see this was not going to get this resolved. Ive been in customer service for over 15 years & Ive never had a company make me feel so low & degraded. I was so disappointed with this experience.
Terrible service, haven’t seen these types of rental car games in years. My reservation was confirmed, but they did not have that car available. Typically, companies would offer a free upgrade, but not Hertz Carmel. Ended up getting a smaller car which smelled like cigarettes. Also wouldn’t allow me to pay for my parents’ rental without an extra charge. They said that whoever is paying is by default the primary driver, and anyone else would be additional (even though I’m not driving it).Overall terrible experience, stay away!
I had a reservation, they did not have a car. I asked for my options, they said check other Hertzs. They offered no more assistance than that. I use rental cars for work frequently and never had a brush-off like that from Enterprise -- even when they didnt have a car they would call other Enterprise locations for me (not that that is necessary, but it does demonstrate a level of respect for the customer). I dont expect people to bend over backwards to help me, but I do expect them to provide the service that is in their name, i.e. rent a car.As a professional who rents cars multiple times per month (most months), I am profoundly disappointed.
Don’t book from this location. If they don’t have a car they will not notify you until you show up to the location. They don’t care to waste your time. Never have I been told by a hertz they do not have a car for me.
I was in a bind due to my own misunderstanding of my rental; the Branch Manager Korey went above and beyond to help me. I can’t thank him enough.
Never again to this location, rude employee, booked for a compact car, they had only 2 vehicles which were damaged and employee wanted me to pay more to get another car else than compact. I drove out with a damaged and stinking car.
I needed a rental car after someone hit my car and their insurance company uses Hertz. The Hertz location that the claims department gave me did not have the staff available to pick me up, so he had the Carmel location contact me. The guy that called me was so incredibly rude!!!. I tried to explain to him that after dropping my car off at the body shop that I had no way of getting back to work or home, but he would not let me finish my sentence. He was extremely condescending. I did let him know that he was being rude and he said Youre mad because youre not getting your way. It wasnt about getting my way, I was in an accident and needed a rental. Thats his job. I called the claims department to let them know how I was treated and they arranged for Enterprise to contact me. Wow, what a huge difference in the way I was treated. They were very kind and accommodating.
Had a reservation through Hotwire, went in and they said they had no more vehicles available.
Very quick service..
I have been having good experiences with the team. They are friendly and listening. Rentals are increasing and they need more good cars,
Great experience renting vehicle and returning it. Vehicle was very clean. Unfortunately, the charges for my car changed twice and when I called to inquire about what was going on, I was hung up on, then put on hold for 5 minutes the second time I called. Not a good outcome. Still unresolved...
Car smelled like weed.
Ive rented from here quite a few times and will continue to do so though the performance has eroded over time. The proximity of this satellite is the draw. I suspect that because it is a satellite with lower volumes than regular sites, the quality of cars is significantly poorer and the staff service is irregular. Ive always felt the staff care, try hard, but you can tell they get overwhelmed and/or are undertrained.4 star for geographic convenience2 star for hours of operation1 star for car variety, cleanliness, miles3 star for staff effort
Dishonest employees actions resulted in myself being stranded for several hours and almost $50 in Lyft fees.
Nice vehicle. My only complaint would be that check-in was slow at this location, and Id done the pre-check-in online. Good price and otherwise convenient process.
Very professional and very accommodating with finding a car that had the features I wanted! Highly recommend!
Great Selection, friendly staff
During the busy summer season I was able to reserve a Corolla for a good price the night before I needed it. And the staff was super nice!
Plan on spending 30 to 45 minutes when you come in. They never have cars clean and ready to go. Two days in a row I’ve had to wait for them to clean a car for me. Staff isn’t helpful at all and they don’t seem to care what your request is or even try to accommodate your needs. So much for customer service! You get what they want to give you and you just will take it and deal with it is the attitude. Also check with your insurance, they hard sell the insurance they sell by telling that your insurance won’t cover loss of use and depreciation fees that Hertz will charge you in the event of a loss. I watched them scare two other people into taking the insurance with that pitch.Save yourself the headache and go to Enterprise or anywhere else but Hertz.
DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. You will be charged an extra $350 from what your insurance already pays for if you totaled a car and needed a rental. They will not dispute it either when you call customer service
I was in a accident and rented from here.My insurance paid til the car was deemed total and then I paid out of pocket from my own debit card weekly. Each week there were charges to my account with the money being taken that said hertz.I returned the Car January 2nd .Their representative Chris tried to tell me owed them 827 dollars when I dropped off the car.He started to charge me for it and his coworker Korey stopped him and said dont charge her.She has been paying weekly for her rental.I got a reciept saying I owed nothing to them. The 4th I recieved a notice my account was in the negative.I checked my mobile app and what do I see? A charge from Hertz for the amount Chris attempted to charge me but apparently did.So i looked back in my account for the charges for hertz. They were now gone.I called the company immediately. The woman told me it was a temporary hold and nothing had been charged to the account. That it was the bank to clear the charge.I waited a few days and decided to follow up with my bank. They said it was a charge.I have never had this occur before with the company.I had a fender bender in August and used them but went through Nick ;another rep there.I didnt have these charges on my account then.I called the customer care to see if they could resolve this issue and it has just been chaos.I would not recommend this location. If you do use it.Dont check out with Chris.I dont normally review horribly. But this has cost me the money I paid out weekly as well as my money in my bank account. Not ideal after being involved in a wreck where you had to be revived and are having to be rehabilitated still.Ive never had this bad of a experience.
I was immediately placed on hold, waited 12 minutes before hanging up.Location Specific: We were charged approx $15 for a fuel and service charge when the car was filled up 1.7 miles away (at Meijer) before directly returning it to this location. There is no possible way the car was not returned without a full tank. REVIEW YOUR RECEIPTS PEOPLE!HERTZ as a company: Rental car toll passes are the biggest rip off scam if there ever was one. We went through ONE (1) toll for $2, which conveniently does not have a pay online option. Because of this, we will be billed for the PlatePass for the full rental duration (4 days) @ $5 per day, plus the toll fee of $2 = $22 [FOR ONE TOLL!] Our option was to either open the toll pass and get charged upfront, or wait for the electronic tolls information to catch up with us through HERTZ, which as I understand from talking to the specific toll agency and American Traffic Solutions (ATS), we will be billed for the toll pass for the duration of the rental. So either way, we were going to pay $22 to pass through this one time $2 toll.
TERRIBLE! Called the day I was supposed to pick up the car and said unfortunately, we dont have any cars available. No apology, no suggestion for what I should do. On top of that, I had pre-paid and after a week, the charge was still on my credit card. I called the location and they said there was nothing they could do and gave me yet another number I had to call to have the charge reversed. Dont count on them to honor a confirmed pre-paid reservation.
Dirty cars, Carmel Store Location. Asian guy is extremely spiteful and vindictive. Ive never had a problem with any rental company, but the Carmel office is really poor quality staff.
Our experience with the Castleton and Carmel locations of Hertz has almost been painful! Originally, they told my husband that they would pick him up Monday morning between 8-8:30am. They never came! He called and asked when they were coming, and they said, they could not find someone to go pick him up! So, ok, fine. If we would have known that, I would have gotten up early enough to get him to Hertz, so, my husband could have gotten to work on time! THEN, they never said WHICH location his rental vehicle was at; Castleton OR Carmel. He had to CALL THEM BACK and ask!!! We had to drive all the way to Carmel to pick up the car! (We live on the North East side of Indy.) When we finally got helped, the kid said, Your car is outside! He DID NOT offer to do a walk around with us! In fact, he DID NOT even WALK US OUT TO SHOW US WHICH CAR WAS OUR RENTAL!!!! My husband and I did a walk around, and found chips in the paint on the hood. We came back in and asked for a manager, and the kid said, there wasnt one there, but that HE would write down the chips in the paint for us!Hertz has no idea how to treat customers properly. Yes, we needed a rental car due to an accident. Yes, our insurance is covering this for us. BUT that doesnt mean we arent customers!!!Hertz also has shady sales tactics with whether or not to prepay for the gas fill up. We will NEVER rent with Hertz again!
Walking into this place was like I was magically transported out of Carmel into a much more horrible place. Cars were poorly upkept, there was a person yelling and swearing loudly in the office, and the staff was particularly unhelpful. My second experience with this place was - surprise we dont have a car for you, and they never let me know until I tried to pick it up
This location and crew is Awful!!! The Manager and all the employees are very rude and disrespectful! This entire staff should be immediately trained on customer service by the Chick-Fil-A staff!!!! I honestly do not understand who would hire such a redundant group of people. Maybe the entire Hertz as a corporation needs education and training because I witnessed the manager harass a female coming in the office to rent a car after a car accident. She was already in a state of distress and to be verbally attacked by this guy was unbelievable and very un-ethical. The entire encounter lacked compassion. I would suggest she look into a different insurance co cause Hertz does not deserve anyone’s business and with that being said I exited this location and I will never return to another Hertz again. Just disgraceful!
Responsive and knowledgeable staff, AAA compatible discounts, decent selection of vehicles. My particular car wasnt very clean but it was a last-second rental so I dont hold that one against them
My team member called your office and was on hold for over 30 minutes- ridiculous. I then tried to call you and an automated machine came on saying the voice box is full and unable to take a message.. Im not subjecting my clients to this.
Where do I begin, I had a scheduled pickup for 2pm to take me to this location where I had a reservation for a car via my insurance company. After initially telling me they would be picking me up, they then tell me they are transferring me to the location at 16th and Shadeland because its slightly closer to my work. I object to this because I live on the north side, so they tell me they will come get me instead. Even as late as 5 minutes before my eventual pickup(I was picked up at 3:30, 90 minutes late), they tell me theyll be there to pick me up and take me to Carmel. What does the driver do when he picks me up? Says hes from the Shadeland location. This is after the Shadeland location first told me they had no knowledge of a transfer of reservation from the Carmel location an hour prior. It was very clear that the Carmel location just didnt want to do any work that day. The one positive was the driver from the Shadeland location, super nice guy. So after being picked up 90 minutes late and taken to the Hertz on the east side, I got to enjoy driving in rush hour traffic for 40 minutes to get home, instead of the 5 minutes I wouldve driven from the Carmel location. Thanks guys!
Very friendly, very efficient.
Terrible! I only used this place because State Farm steered me this way. Nothing against Hertz but this location needs improvement. The car I received was not clean, I had to return belongings the previous renter had left in it. When I showed up they did not have the size rental I had reserved. Again nothing against Hertz but this branch needs help.
Friendly staff that works quickly. Weve rented from here several times and have never had much of a wait.
Although they didnt have the car I booked on Hotwire, Nick did accommodate me with other perks to offset the new cost of rental.
Horrible customer service and basically never have anything larger than a postage stamp available. Even if you have a reservation.
Good service. Cars you you can count on.
No one at this location answers the phone? I have called multiple times, once someone answered.... and hung up on me... and every time after that it rings and then just disconnects me.
The worst place. Theyll take your money, not give you a car, AND lie to you.I had a reservation at 5, the office closed at 530 when it should close at 6, leaving me stranded in a city without a place to live.I call them up the next morning to see if I can pick it up a couple days later, they say yes. I go there and they tell me they cant give it to me now. Even though its paid for, even though they have cars available.Awful people, awful experience. Go someplace else.
Amazing service assistance compare to other locations.
Always easy to pick up and drop off
Need more customer service associates, the lady was really nice but working all alone (calls, customers) and seemed a bit frazzled.
Didn’t have car I reserved. Very dirty office
Screw this company. They want you to put down a $250 deposit. I only go with Enterprise if returning to same location and Budget when not.
Great pleasant staff. All smiles!
Employee had an attitude, car was fine.
Excellent service. Fast, friendly service.
Very expensive for the trouble.
Very courteous and apologized for the car that I was given being stinky and gave us a discount.
Worst customer service
Very friendly staff and very professional
Agreed to rent a car for 5 days at the price of $130. Although they assured me they could pick up from a dealership where I bought a new car, it took 7 days to pick up the car and they charged my account $313.
Had my favorite rental.
Friendly fast service
Called numerous time and never get an answering and mailbox is full.
A major hassle...I was overcharged, causing my bank account to go negative, and have still not been taken care of by the company, ( this was in January, it is now almost August)...I do not recommend Hertz ! Can you give negative stars ?
Great service in and out
Employee was rude and disrespectful.
Cool
