Bar Method Boston has done an outstanding job during this pandemic! They got virtual classes up and running right away, so it made keeping my workouts going during the shut down so easy. Now that in studio classes have started again, they have made the studio feel like a safe place to work out. I appreciate how going to classes again helps with some sort of “normal” routine in a very abnormal time -much needed!

Bar Method in Back Bay has been a Covid lifesaver. Swiftly pivoting to offer online classes and modifying safely for in person attendance. This is a full body workout you can do in your home or in studio. Personal attention (even in a Zoom class) like no other workout experience! Recommend!!!

Bar method is honestly one of the highlights of my day! I joined the bar method community in November while recovering from a injury power lifting- and barre has completely changed how I look at working out. The workouts are challenging but safe, and classes are super efficient. You get a full body workout in 45-1hr! The teachers are enthusiastic, fun, and knowledgeable. I first came to Bar Method many years ago after having some issues with my knee and I never looked back! I’ve tried different barre classes, but Bar Method is by far my favorite. Both studios (Back Bay and Downtown) are very welcoming. Since they make it a point to learn everyone’s name, you can’t slack off! During class, the instructors will correct your form and make hands-on adjustments to make sure that you’re getting the most out of every exercise. The hour (or 45 minutes depending on the class) flies by!

The Back Bay Bar Method on Clarendon is amazing. I have done cross fit, body sculpting and other types of barre classes but The Bar Method is the best. In particular, the Bar method focuses on isometric exercises that strength core muscles. You can see you body change and get stronger. The location is great and when you are not on the ground doing push ups you can look out to the Commonwealth mall, trees and grass. Plus the teachers are attentive, correct you kindly and are fun!

Love Bar Method & especially the Back Bay studio. After almost 7 years my muscles are tone in ways they never were before & my flexibility is the best its every been. While the class is good, it’s upsetting to me that gym geared towards women still doesn’t understand the importance of asking consent before touching. Every class I am literally grabbed by an instructor with no warning and in ways that can make me incredibly triggered. I understand correcting form is necessary, but in an age where consent is one of the largest topics, we need to do better. I urge the bar method to start having instructors ask consent at the beginning of class or give warnings before grabbing their members by the waist with no warning. It’s triggering and unacceptable at this point.

As someone who was new to barre, The Bar Method was the perfect place to get started! All instructors are well versed, friendly, and incredibly encouraging/challenging. I was worried barre alone would get old, however the instructors challenge me individually as they become more familiar with my abilities. Its an intimate environment which I love coming to each day. I have seen a real change in my shape and strength and, for now, have left my other gym and will continue solely with The Bar Method!

All the instructors are great and take care to make sure youre getting the most out of each move and doing them correctly to avoid injury. I’ve been attending class 2-3 times a week now for about a month. Initially, I was concerned that as a 63-year-old, moderately fit woman who could lose about 15-20 pounds, I might feel out of place or judged by all the young, slim women in the class. I’m happy to say I had nothing to worry about! Everyone has been friendly and helpful. The staff is also great. Every instructor brings her own personality and energy level to each class. The classes are challenging and fun, and they go by so fast. I recommend The Bar Method to anyone who wants to get fitter and firmer!

The bar method is great! This is the first studio Ive been to where they really make an effort to make each and every individual feel welcome and attended to during classes. The hands on corrections are extremely helpful and make it a more personal experience. In the six or so months since Ive been going, and more recently have become a regular, the method has really helped to shape my body in new ways and make me feel so incredibly strong! Highly recommend the bar method, at both Boston locations, too!!

Megan at Back Bay was incredibly helpful. Staff was welcoming and helpful at my first visit to The Bar Method. I have since taken five more classes at both Back Bay and Financial District and Megan is one of my favorites. She is encouraging, has great energy and keeps us all on point. Megan takes time to learn your name and I appreciated her help making sure that I positioned myself correctly to get a safe and effective workout. Loved the music and flow of the class. The studio is quaint but clean and has all the amenities one needs to workout before or after work and enjoy the showers and little luxurious toiletries. I will be back!

I love the Bar Method! I started going when I lived in Boston, and I recently bought a 3 class pass when I was visiting Boston for Thanksgiving. It was just as great an experience as I remember. The classes are an amazing workout that are scalable for building muscle at any level of strength. The studios are relaxing environments with great amenities and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Cannot recommend more highly.

Instructors are all great and really make an effort to get to know you. Workouts can be as tough or as easy as you make them so even as an ultra beginner I never felt too out of place! There are two studios at this location but primarily use the one on the second floor- big room with lots of mirrors and natural light!

By far the best place that you will ever find, it not only strengthens your body and helps you lose weight but helps your mind and soul by learning how to relax and just breathe. The most efficient, low-impact workout in town for stronger, leaner muscles. Great core workout. This is where I finally had the courage and strength to learn how to do push-ups! I have been visiting the Bar Method in Downtown Boston for about 2 months. I try to go at least 3 times per week. I have really liked all of the instructors and the work-outs are amazing! It takes a while to get the form down and the instructors are all incredibly patient while they correct you over and over again. Results so far have been incredible. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I felt it was really hard at the beginning, well, I still think its hard after two months of practice, but I am improving every time I go to class.All instructors that I had are amazing, they call out your name and correct your posture. I’ve only recently started taking classes at the Bar Method and so far, I love it! The workout targets muscles that you didn’t even know you had. I also love the gracefulness barre brings to a workout (although you probably couldn’t tell from me). The studio itself is lovely. The locker room space and waiting area, although small, are always very clean.

I bought the new client one month unlimited membership and absolutely loved the Bar Method. All of the instructors were great and provided a fun, challenging workout. I found the Bar Method to be more effective than the other barre studios I have tried, and instructors offer many modifications to keep the class appropriate for all levels. I love the Bar Method! I go to the Back Bay location and the one in Downtown Crossing/Financial District. Theyre both great. I love Bar Express classes because it allows me to pack in a solid workout in only 45 minutes on my lunch breaks. They have plenty of options for classes. The instructors also do a good job of switching it up.

Love this class. The teachers are very friendly and helpful. Not like other studios where they lock the door right at the start of class and don’t let you in if you’re a little late....there is a 5 minute grace period so I’ve never been charged with a missed class fee. Class kicks my butt every time!

I had a variety of teachers who walked me through any questions I had, catered to my needs, and made the class fun and engaging, while hard at the same time. And second, as it turns out I love barre! Between the instructors and their extremely motivating attitudes to the environment and feel of the entire facility, I look forward to going to every class. Love love love this studio! The first class is kind of intimidating because there is a lot of one-on-one adjustments, but all of the instructors are super nice and just want you to get the best workout possible. The classes fly by, are fun and you are sure to be sore after! Love this place! I work in the financial district and it is the perfect lunch time workout. The teachers are high energy and are always walking around the class to make sure you are doing the exercises correct or offer modifications. The locker room area is clean and has all the amenities you could need to get back to work looking great. The pricing is just right too.

I’ve been to the various barre gyms in Boston and Bar Method is the best by far. I’m very new to barre, and the instructors there really have taken the time to help me learn, correct me the million times I do things wrong but in an amazing way that makes me feel good about my efforts. It’s incredibly impressive that right off the bat they learn your name and care about your progress. I don’t feel intimidated like I do at other gyms or feel bad about the fact that I’m so new to barre. Highly suggest!!

A wonderful studio!! The quality of instructors is amazing: they learn your names every class, and are attentive in giving corrections and offering encouragement. The workout varies regularly, which means that youre never overstraining one muscle group. The studio is also quite body-positive: theres none of the emphasis on weight loss, beach bodies, or pain = gain = thinness that Ive heard in other workout venues. This is a great low sweat workout that targets lower body, core and back with upper body aspects tied in. The concept is based around resistance training using primarily your own body weight and two light hand weights. It’s an unconventional workout for guys into strength and endurance training but highly worth it as cross training to fine tune hard to hit muscle groups. The instructors are incredibly helpful in maximizing the benefit of the workout!

I have taken a number of Bar Method classes through Class Pass. The studio and locker room facilities are gorgeous. The workouts are always good - I have not been to a barre class at any other studio that delivers the same burn you will get at Bar Method. The instructors vary quite a bit in terms of style -- the choreography is very similar from person to person, but some instructors spend way more time calling people out and giving corrections (sometimes kind of forcibly) than others do. I would definitely read reviews of the instructors before signing up for a class, if you can, just to make sure you pick one who fits your personality the best.

I last reviewed the studio after 5 classes; I am now at 15 classes. I see more definition in my arms and I am better at the technique -- though still nowhere near as flexible and strong as many of the other students in the class. Definitely a class you can do consistently; improving, but not getting any easier! All studio locations seem to have opened more weekend times which is great as well; I was waitlisted recently and got in a couple days prior, so dont hesitate to sign up. Thank you Bar Method!

Bar strengthens all your core and stabilizer muscles, which has helped a lot with my back and knees.Its a good mix of strength and flexibility training, both of which help me feel good as I get older.

The Back Bay and Downtown studios are clean and welcoming for first time participants. There is a little bit of a learning curve to execute the poses correctly. The Downtown instructors have been really helpful and allow you to stay after class to stretch or answer questions about positioning if another class isn’t happening right away. I’ve enjoyed my experience so far and would recommend to anyone interested in trying out this fun, low-impact, yet intense, form of exercise.

This is a great low impact workout - after just a few weeks I’ve noticed that I have much better posture and am starting to get more toned. The teachers at The Bar Method are so poised and unhesitating in their instruction. I love that they come around and ask your name if theyve never had you in class before - then provide instructions directly to you during class, especially helpful for new people. I prefer Bar Method over the other barre classes the city has to offer. It does a better job of wearing out individual muscles, whereas other classes feel a bit more all over the place. Nice focus on flexibility as well. While its still fun, its one of the more serious barre classes. Its the only fitness class thats been able to keep my interest.

I came to the Bar Method after dealing with a number of tendon and soft tissue injuries from years of overuse in endurance sports and scoliosis in my back. My PT chiro recommended barre and I feel supremely attended-to at the Bar Method for the use of props, levels and options, and form and adjustments. The Bar Method has helped me rebuild strength throughout my whole body and correct alignment issues. Though, like any good class, the classes burn like crazy, the good type of pain has kept the bad pain of injuries at bay. I love all the teachers, the studio environment, and the culture. Ok, I LOVE the Bar Method. I’ve been to several barre studios in Boston and this one is by far my favorite. The variety between instructors is just enough to keep you guessing each time - I always leave feeling toned! The facilities are very nice, as well.

Really love this studio. Sara and Kristina are definitely my favorite instructors but you can’t go wrong. The classrooms are bright and clean as are the shower/locker rooms and common areas.

I love this studio! I have tried other barre class companies and this one definitely is the most challenging, and Ive been seeing better results from these classes.
