My son was in Boone, NC for the summer. His vehicle overheated and he took it to Freedom AutoTec. Mike was great to work with and I felt totally comfortable working with him over the phone, as my husband and I were 6 1/2 hours away. It turned out to be a cracked radiator (it was a 15 year old van with over 200,000 miles on it). Reasonably priced and got my son back home safely.

Mike is awesome! My son was traveling from Columbia SC for a ski trip and his car broke down. The dash went spastic and the transmission wouldnt shift properly. It was finally determined that computer was bad and possible electrical issues. Mike and his technician went above and beyond while we were trying to decide what to do with the vehicle. They tried to find the underlying issue of why the computer went bad and didnt even charge us for these extra steps. They took such good care of our family! If you are looking for an honest, dependable, knowledgeable repair shop then you should use Freedom AutoTec. They are truly awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a sound coming from one of my wheels that I couldnt diagnose, and these guys brought it in their shop and fixed it fast and for free! Great service and great guys to have work on your car! I wouldnt call anyone else in the Boone area to work on my car. Theyve worked on my other truck before too and it still is running fine!

I had been losing brake fluid for about a month on my 1999 Dodge pickup and just adding fluid til I had time to get it checked out. I got in my truck on Tuesday and my brake pedal went almost to the floor.Still having some brakes, I drove to Freedom and told them my issue. Mike looked underneath my truck and noticed signs of leakage on both rear tires. He asked me to come back Wednesday morning at 8:00.I arrived at their shop shortly after 8:00 and they took my truck straight to the service area. After a few minutes, Mike said that both of my rear wheel brake cylinders had failed and would need replaced. In another few minutes, Mike told me what the cost would be. I told him to go forward with the repair.At 10:00, I was pulling out of their parking lot and was on my way with excellent brakes!I highly recommend these guys for your automotive service and repairs! I forgot to mention the comfortable waiting area with tv and coffee.Thanks to Mike and his staff for their professional and courteous service! I will definitely return for any future auto needs that I may have!

I went here today to get my tire fixed after I punctured it. First of all, they were super nice and started on my car as soon as I got there. The whole atmosphere is peaceful and pleasant. The waiting area that others have mentioned is very clean and relaxing. The cost of the work was EXTREMELY reasonable, and it seems to be good quality too. I really like that the shop supports recovery in the area. Will return!Edit 1/17/20:I have since come for substantially more complicated repairs, including a mysterious starting issue and replacement of my alternator. They have been very honest and helpful and had my car running great in the shortest time possible. Super happy to have found this place!

Took maybe 15 minutes to have my oil changed. Super friendly staff and very reasonable. They put plastic over my driver seat to ensure it stayed clean, which I have never seen a mechanic do. Waiting room was immaculate and offered Netflix and coffee. Found our new mechanic.

We recently had our Hyundai Sonata break down while we were in Boone. We googled auto repair shops and saw many great reviews! We had the car towed there on a Sunday afternoon. They replaced the alternator and did a great job at a reasonable price. They were very professional and pleasant! We will definitely use them again for our auto repair needs in Boone! (Not to mention the added bonus of proceeds going to a great cause!)

I went to a large/chain automotive repair shop herein Boone recently because my Subaru was making a faint noise. They quoted me $486. It seemed a bit high to me, and when I left, I heard a Freedom Auto Tec ad on the radio. So I thought Id bring my quote that I got from the other repair to Freedom Auto Tec to see if they could beat it. I described the noise to Adam, he inspected my vehicle and ended up suggesting a new air filter and something with my throttle. Long story short - The issue was fixed, Adam was super honest, and I walked out spending about $12.Automotive repair shops so often take advantage of folks because most folks (like me) are ignorant to auto repairs. In short, its easy to take advantage of folks who dont know anything about cars. Its great that Ive discovered someone in town who does excellent work and whos honest.They also have a great waiting room (coffee, TV, great seating, and WiFi). Great and convenient place to do business!

I took my 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 4wd in for service. I read the reviews and based on that I took it here. I can tell you that the reviews are well deserved. These guys are honest and stand behind their work. They DID NOT try to upsell me anything. They even were honest in that they were not comfortable properly diagnosing a potential issue with my 4wd, because We just do not have the expertise in this issue at this time, and then proceeded to reccomend who to take it to if I wanted.WOW a mechanic who actually says we are not comfortable working on something and does not try to take my money anyway. They completed the work within the time they had said. Very professional and the shop is very clean! These will be my go to guys for service on my truck going forward, and I will be taking my wifes Subaru for any out of warranty service.
