John and Dave were wonderful. Less than a week after moving into a house we purchased, my boyfriend and I noticed some backup happening in the basement. Several companies came out to try to assess the problem and it wasn’t until a camera was put down there that we discovered that our pipes were completely full of ROCKS! The plumber that discovered them recommended American Sewer. We called them and another company and the other company told us they didn’t even have the capacity or know how to solve the issue, but American Sewer dealt with this before an assured us that they could do it. Their pricing was fair and they were honest, which is something rare to come by I feel like. It took two separate days to get the rocks out by accessing a pipe on the inside and then the outside. They recommended a company to dig up the pipe and they were also honest and kind, sympathetic to our situation. After the second day doing the job, Dave showed me his camera and they successfully got all the rocks out. I was in disbelief as this was an issue we were dealing with for months! I’m so grateful to both John and Dave and they will forever have our business. If you’re looking into this company, USE THEM! You will not regret it!

Such a rare thing it is these days, to find an honest man, an honest business...something and someone you can trust. We had a what seemed to be a reputable sewer company come out for a cleaning and video of our sewer line, and they were a scam. They were cheap too, which sounded good...and indeed it was, too good to be true. They didn’t even fully clean out the line, then provided us a few photos of what appeared to be the dirtiest portions of the line, and then told us we needed to do a replacement of a 10 foot section of the line at the street, along with a quote of $8500. We decided to get a second opinion, and were referred to American Sewer. On the same day, the last day of our inspection period, Ben came out and thoroughly cleaned our line and discovered that there were no such issues, and provided us with a quality video we could provide to the buyers. We just saved ourselves $8500...that is, American Sewer just saved us that money, and we are forever grateful for them. Can’t recommend them enough for an honest opinion and a quality job. Poor communication. Did not show up or call in 4 hour window. Did not call my designated person to call. When I talked to him on phone that day, he claimed the job would be simple. I disagreed & explained the problem again. He spent time in my home, came to same conclusion already established, charged us, and then claimed he’d follow up if they could do the work or if another conpany would. He never initiated contact. I’m still left with same problem I knew was there 5 days after I initially called them. Also left some water on floor & in my shop vac. Unprofessional

I spent 20 minutes on the phone with this company setting up an appointment for a sewer drain cleaning. When the day came to do the work, they never showed. I took the day off to wait around for them for four hours. Very frustrating.

Review changed from 2 stars to 1.I had a 3 foot drain under my sidewalk that was clogged with mud that I couldnt get to. I called American Sewer and he told me it was going to be more expensive as he would have to use a special tool. It turned out that special tool was a power washer. The job took all of ten minutes and the technician told me, You know, you could have just done this yourself if you just had a power washer. All youd have needed is this attachment for the hose. Thanks, guy. The technician then charged me $515. And all this after he was several hours late without even calling us.After I posted the above review, the owner called me. He was upset but he made a good point about how I should have called before posting a negative review. Fair enough. So I deleted the review.Then I called him and it went badly. He brought up how he knew theyd been late but, theyd been so busy lately. That seemed pretty flippant, considering they didnt even call, but I ignored it and tried to tell him that I felt that hed led me on by making it sound like the job was going to be harder than it was and require a special tool when in reality it was just a power washer. He brushed that off because it had a different attachment on the end on it. I told him that doesnt seem like it should raise the price that much. I could buy 3 power washer for that price.This is where things really went off the rails. He then began claiming that theyd scoped the drain and the corrugated pipe was cracked. I told him they couldnt have scoped it because it was 100% clogged from end up end and I was also standing right next to the guy when he did the job. I also pointed out my drain isnt corrugated pipe, nor is it cracked.I think he realized hed made a mistake now so he said hed refund me $100. I told him not to worry about it. He then said he didnt want me to have a bad impression of his company and that hes going to do it anyway, which was big of him. He then immediately undermined this goodwill by saying he didnt think he should even have to refund it and theyd done nothing wrong. Im not sure why he had to say that but I guess he just one of those guys that has to have the last word. I said maybe we should call it a day and he sarcastically said that sounds like a great idea.

Update 11/19/20: Owner offered to correct the problem for $125 per hour but considering that was only mentioned after he threatened to blacklist us for being unappreciative customers, that was a hard pass. We werent unappreciative of the work the guy did - because he did try, in his own way- but I sure as heck didnt appreciate the pipes backing up a few days later and then being told WE were in the wrong for being upset about it and that wed have to pay more money to correct the problem that was the entire reason wed called in the first place. Honestly, I think it was the gaslighting that upset me the most, because we had every right to be upset that the job wasnt done up to our standards, which had been discussed before the service guy even got to the house. A bad review is a chance to reach out and understand what happened and offer a solution and they basically took that olive branch and slapped us with it. This update would have been positive had our complaint been dealt with a better way. We ended up taking care of the issue ourselves with our own machine that cost half the price and took half the time. Im not sorry to be blacklisted after all this and I wish everyone all the best in their future dealings with this company. Not a bad company, because they still have good reviews, but just WOW, this was handled poorly.Original post 11/14ish:A few years back we used this company to clean out our sewer pipe as roots grow through it every year, causing back ups in the house. After some trial and error, we determined that our best access pipe is located in a crawl space under the house and as such, a machine that can be taken apart is a must to be able to get down there.We called for a cleaning again this year and made sure to tell them that it had to be done the exact same way because wed tried everything else the first time. The pipes were already backed up at this point so we made sure not to use the water for a while to ensure that it had all drained and there wouldnt be a geyser when they opened the pipe. We told them that they could NOT clear the pipe through the sink because of the bends, that they could NOT go through the toilet because it would break (as it had done before), and that they could NOT remove the toilet because the blade that fit in that opening would be too small to clear the sewer pipe entirely. We told them that someone needed to bring a machine that that could be taken apart so it could go into the crawl space AS THEY HAD DONE LAST TIME.On 11/7/20, the guy came with a machine that didnt come apart so he could not get it into the crawl space. First thing he did was flush the toilet a couple of times till it backed up into the tub so he could see what was backing up. Like I was lying about it. And now the pipe was filled with water again. He then proceeded to try go go through the sink, which did not work because of all the bends (shocker). Then he went through the toilet and stopped because he thought it would break (you dont say.) And then he removed the toilet, had to use a blade that was too small, and almost got it stuck (surprise, surprise). This ended up costing us double what we paid last time because things take longer when you use the WRONG equipment.On the plus side, I had 6 days of being able to flush the toilet before it backed up in the exact same way and now I basically cant use the water in my house. Again. Because there are roots in the pipe. Because no one listened to us. $467 down the drain faster than anything in MY house.Dont get me wrong, the first time we used them it was great. This time, it just didnt get done right. Yes, its harder to go though the crawlspace, we get that, but if its the best way, its the best way. Do we have a terrible setup? Yes. Do we need to install a cleanout pipe? Absolutely, we will do it as soon as we can. Does doing something that didnt work last time mean it will work this time? No. Which is why we made sure to tell them what worked last time.Not a bad company, just didnt listen.

Called American when I was quoted 8-10,000 to get a whole new sewer line and found out from them I didnt even need one. From that same company I had the line jetted for 1,500 dollars because they said the pipe couldnt handle the cable. American said the pipe was just fine and if they needed to jet which they hardly ever need to do it wouldve been no more than $300. I felt sick, this company was taking advantage of me and thank goodness for American!! An honest company not looking to make a buck. Do yourself a favor and call American!! Save your money for other things then for like--your sewer, right??!!

After 25 years of basement flooding issues and having several companies over I believe we have finally found the winners. David was the first person ever to get down on his hands and knees and literally dig into our old well area drain line connection and clear it and all of our lines all the way to the outside of the house. He also explained we had a Y connection under the main floor and not just a single line, and cleared both lines. Nobody had ever figured that out before, and most companies said we had to have the floor dug up costing thousands. He also fixed a stubborn upstairs bathroom sink line clog even though I only brought it up as an afterthought. They do not normally work on sump pump discharge line issues, as it is not their business focus, but I was desperate since the discharge pipe had broken inside the wall near the area where it exits the house. He replaced the pipe, joined it at the corner under the floor, and managed to do it all behind finished walls only leaving a small rectangle of wall section cut that we can easily pop back in that is almost invisible. They were very busy, but he stayed until 5:00 on a Friday holiday weekend until he had everything done. The day before he left his own pump for me to use overnight to pump the sump pit. I was afraid I was in for a long weekend of cleaning up the basement floor with storms coming and with a clogged drain and no sump pump, but they resolved both issues and at a very reasonable cost. I will never call any other company again for drain services.

Friendly staff, great work. Our kitchen sink had backed up, and we had initially called a local plumber. And THEY asked to call American Sewer. It was already noon on a Friday and they were still able to get us in at the last minute for same day service. This saved us money as weekend rates are higher (which they really didn’t need to do as they would have gotten more money from us the next day).The work performed was top notch and they even cleaned up the area once they were done. Also, once they opened up the pipe, they found that the clog was just in the u-pipe, but they still went ahead and used the augur to make sure there were no clogs down the drain (about 25 ft). All this was done in less than an hour, and the technician took extra care not to make a mess. Technician was friendly and answered all our questions.The receptionist was friendly and kept me posted on schedule and what time the technician would be at the house. Text notifications when they are on the way so you know to expect them.I will be sure to use this company going forward.

Dave is who came to repair and wow is he a hard, determined and great worker. Got the job done which is a plus but he was very humble and honest as well. I have a drainage clogged and therefore a flooded basement. Company R initially came the next day, clear the clog, did unnecessary work, and charged me $$$. Then they came back next day to do the camera video. Then they give me an invoice of $$$$ that I need to fix the bellied pipe, and dig out cement, and said highly recommend to do it asap to avoid flooding again. I sent this video to another company (M) they gave me a quote less than the first company but still a lot. Here American Sewer came in, as recommended by the Weld & Son Plumber, then I gave it a try. The owner Jonathan was so great, He said from the video, the drainage cleaning was not even done properly! I said I just had it done and then they came take the video. He said the video was taken while there is water running as well, so it looks like the issue is much bigger than it was. So I trusted the owner and then his staff Donald to come, clear the clog again (one week after another company) and showed me the video, and what a great difference it makes! I watched the video and I also didnt see any more bellied pipe that needs to be fixed. Jonathan basically just saved me $$$$ and digging out the cement, when its not necessary work. All of the other companies either said no time, need to come out to estimate and minimum charge a bunch, or having customer service that only sets up appointment but didnt answer any of your questions, or just simply try to rip you off with things you dont need, or did not warn you things you need. American Sewer, was the best company so far - I have contacted literally at least 5 to 10 other companies because of the flood. Great experience. Had a drain backup. The plumber (John) ran the auger then used the video camera. Saw standing water about 40 ft out after running the auger. He ran the auger again for free just to ensure the standing water wasnt due to an object that he didnt get the first time. Turns out the standing water is likely due to a pipe belly, so there was nothing that could be done in the moment, but I really appreciate the extra time he spend to ensure his job was thorough!

Jonathon and Rob have helped me out with three sewer emergencies over the last five years. (I have an older home with a complicated sewer system.) The response time for these guys is fantastic! Rob did a great job with a tough sewer job. At one point he said that it was the most difficult one hed ever had to do. Even with that the price was as agreed upon before the job began. I was even very impressed with the receptionist - she took the time to answer all of my questions over multiple phone calls. I would definitely call American Sewer for my next plumbing job.

I found American Sewage through Groupon. We had a clogged shower drain.I spoke with a guy named Seth, who was very helpful, and described our problem. He came out in early December and unclogged the bathroom drain. Then, even though they work mainly with clogged drains and sewage, he patched a leaking pipe under the kitchen sink.Recently, the kitchen sink pipe began leaking again. I called to see about having them come back out and fix the issue.Even though they dont primarily do plumbing work, the owner called me directly and discussed with me how to make things right. He came personally to do the repair again.I am very impressed with the integrity and above-and-beyond attitude that Jonathan (owner) and the folks at American Sewage exhibited to help us resolve our issue.I highly recommend them for all drain clogs and sewage services!

They were great!We were told our pipes were shifting/collapsing by others and could do nothing but replace pipe and connection back to street, even with camera inspection. $7k. Said our pipes were fine but connection to city was the problem. City disagreed.No resolution.We have been renting machine from hardware store periodically for years to keep drain flowing and everything had been fine.Recently neighbours across street had work done. Our basement backed up suddenly. We were unable to root through. We hired American to come fix the pipes once and for all. They found it was just a big root and drilled through it. We have been drilling a quarter size hole through the root, while they were the only competent company to drill through the actual size of my pipe.The city should be redoing our street soon I hope, and they will fix any root issues. Donald saved a single parent of 2 teens with one bathroom thousands of dollars. Thank you so much. These guys do what it takes.

I called American after a referral from our local Plummer for a clogged kitchen sink. I had done everything that a homeowner could do including having my snake almost 20 feet down the drain multiple times and treating it with chemicals. They were able to fit me in same day which was amazing as the roads were terrible and we had recently come off a record setting cold snap. They were the cheapest in initial visit ($100) of anyone I called. Everyone else was $149. In addition, it seemed that if the clog was as bad as I thought it was, they had the equipment for unfreeze, fiber optics, etc. The tech arrived early and put 70 feet of snake down my drain unclogging it within an hour. He cleaned up and only charged me $100. I would highly recommend them! Keep in mind though if they can’t do it with a snake it seemed like the prices could escalate quickly. This isn’t unexpected given the complexity and machines involved just something to be aware of.

This was my first home, a townhouse in maple grove. My roommate dropped a glass down the disposal and hit the button along with veggies and grease. My sink clogged and disposal was what I believed to be broken beyond remedy. Jonathan came with a good electric auger and first drilled through the sink line to the main drain resolving the clogged drain, then he vacuumed out the glass in my disposal and used a disposal wrench to force it to turn back into action. Jon is my brother and did not charge me anything, but I do remember the feeling of nasty smelly sink water in my kitchen, dishes piling up, and the feeling of dismay of having to replace my disposal. Long story short, I still remember to this day what it was like to get home after a 10 hour work day walking straight up to the sink, turning the water on, flipping the switch on the disposal and knowing that there was no more issue going on in the kitchen. This according to Jon is actually a pretty standard problem to have happen to the everyday person at least once in their life and I fully remember the experience from start to finish. Jon made the problem GO AWAY!! And if you love your kitchen like I do, it was a big deal coming home and having everything in order.

Seth came out and he was wonderful he tried to snake the line but he said, “I’m sorry, I think your pipe is broken and I don’t want to waist your time and money trying to keep cleaning it out.” He said, “We have a great guy who can help you!” Soooo Dave came out the next day! These guys were incredible. Our main sewer backed up into our finished basement. We had called Roto-Rooter first and they came out but couldnt clear it and told us we needed to dig up our yard and wanted $6500.00. We called American Sewer and both Seth and Dave worked on it for hours but were able to snake the problem out even though we have 200 line. They even discovered that we have a cleanout in our yard that we didnt know about. Theyre amazing and saved us thousands. Couldnt be happier. Use them.

I had American Sewer come out to clean my main drain that no one else new how to do . They found a way to put a pipe through the basement window . It worked out well and i would call them again.

Accurately diagnosed a clog in my sewer line and got things flowing smoothly after the big org convinced me they had to dig up the line in front of my house and charge me $6000. Thankfully American Sewer were honest and explained things much more clearly as well as their tech, Rob, explained and showed me some of the tricks this big org did to convince me I had a bigger problem than just a clog in the line. I would for sure 100% call American Sewer if I ever run into a problem again! Thanks to John and Rob for all your help! After buying a new car and needing money for other things and being pretty upset with a large bill from big org you guys saved me from a huge financial issue and appreciate it big time!edit: Came out again for another issue, fixed the problem and only charged for 1 hour.
