Hollie is Amazing! I came here a while a go for nails before which was just ok due to lack of customer service based on the location of the salon. In this area and especially in the mall I expect over the top nice customer service and professionalism based off of the location and appearance of the salon. But the workers can be very unprofessional and the owner is subpar. The salon though is nice location and a great place to be in. I needed my hair done and booked an appointment with a young lady online and over the phone under the name Pro Beauty Calls. She directed me back to this salon and at first I was hesitant. Her name is Hollie, she was very accommodating, super professional and extremely patient. She said she was contracted by the owner to do hair, this is probably the best thing the owner could have done for her salon. The new hair technician, is absolutely amazing and let me tell you she really knew her stuff! She provided me with hair superior hair extensions that she sells and she had them available for me dyed and ready to be placed in my head when I arrived. She took her time and shampooed and conditioned my head, then talked to me about her hair recommendations for my hair in the future. She trimmed my ends, gave me a keratin treatment and then put micro-link extensions in my head. I have had my extensions in for 3 weeks and they have barely slipped and they havent tangled. The extensions smelled good, they were super soft and they are the best extensions I have ever had. I recommend her 10 out of 10 for everything this salon needs. I almost wish she was the owner or the manager. Hollie is what superior customer service looks like. I booked her through Style Seat and she gave me her personal cell number to book all future appointments. So if you are looking to get a treatment, wash, color, or extensions done in this area she is your girl. I think you can call the salon directly and make sure you ask for her by name as I would hate for you to get another hair tech.
If I had more thumbs, I would give this placeFOUR THUMBS DOWN!!!! 👎 👎 👎 👎The associates are RUDE and the manager is INCOMPETENT. I spent $200 for mani/pedi only to have damage a few days later. I returned to request a fix and they caught attitude.Do yourself a favor…don’t walk but RUN elsewhere!!
It’s a fancy and clean place but watch out! If you choose pedicures with gel for instance, the price they show you is $52 which is kinda normal. But when you start, they bring you a menu to choose “styles” for pedi…because they actually want to charge you for a few seconds of scrub and massage; which is included in all other salons! The lowest price is $47 and you think oh that’s lower than the $52 on their list, but then they charge you another $18 for removing gel!! This is super weird. Additionally, I chose a color that was nothing like what I saw as the final results. Not a good experience.
The lady gave me the color to choose while I asked for French. I had to spend a lot of time to make her understand what I want. She had me to dry my nail under the desk and when I talked with the manager it came up that she didn’t understand I wanted gel. The price is reasonable but lack of understanding English may put you in trouble. I had to come back the next day to fix it.
After getting my nails done, and realizing the poor job it was, I decided to go back to get it fixed. While I was on site fixing my nails I decided to get my eyebrows done. My disappointment could not be worse, they managed to burn my face! My eyebrows and my upper-lip.
Super clean and gorgeous aesthetic environment. I chose dip and two tips on my nails. They turned out amazing, I love them. Definitely going back!
Went in for a mani pedi. Place is clean. However, the deluxe pedicures are so not worth it. I spent 47$ on a so called deluxe pedicure which includes a 30 second scrub and 30 second massage. The whole experience defeated the purpose of a spa. Spent 76$ on bs mani pedi. If you really want to experience deluxe, visit Kentlands Nail spa. Every penny is worth it there. Never going to a nail salon in the montgomery mall.
A reason for an empty nail salon. When a customer asks to a service to be done a particular way so they arent injured in the process, you may want to be accommodating so you arent sitting in a salon with ZERO customers.
Their staff is phenomenally sweet and professional.
Worst experience ever!!! One star is over rated for them. the woman has no patience to me choosing the color and couldn’t even understand English. She didn’t even use the machine to dry the gel between each layer and let me switch table right after the top coat was on. I mean how was I gonna pick up my things when the gel is not dry yet?!!! And then she went off work. Not to mention she talking to another man who is not a worker all the time. The whole process took like 10min and you’re done and put in a table in the corner to let the gel dry itself (which gives me the time to write this review)
Nails were ok but my pinky is crooked and looks weird. and the nail polish is messy.
11/12/20*This review is long and will have to be broken down into sections. View discretion is advised.I havent been to this place in a long time. The events that happened here years ago, but I felt compelled to write my review on this business.*Avalon Lifestyle Nail Salon in Montgomery Mall...what can I say about this place. This is a two part story as to why i came here. I will have that story written out later on.Avalon Lifestyle Nail Salon is a place I walked by a lot when I use to go to this mall. Before this place did their remake there was a very cool manger who understood what kind of waxing job I needed. The place I was going to was changing owners and I did not like the new staff members or owner. The new staff members talked smack about their clients while you were being treated. I wasnt going to put up with that.Anyhow the manager at Avalon Lifestyle Nail Salon assigned me to a lady who knew how to do waxing and do it well. The waxing cost less money than the other place I went to. I was happy because I found a place that could handle touch up waxing for guys...(note, Avalon Lifestyle Nail Salondid note wax guys front area, but would wax the whole backside area)Many places will not service guys in the Brazilian area. I even read that they dont teach the Brazilian waxing for guys in cosmetology classes. This was just one story I read and I hope that this is not true. I am not sure why they wont teach that in school if this story is true, but I digress...The woman...well call her Mariposa did a phenomenal job at moving fast and removing the unwanted hair from my leg, arms and butt...(did I not make it clear that I dont like pubic or most body hair? Well I dont.)She was good at the removal of leftover wax on my body too. I made sure to ask for Mariposa when I return four other times, because of Mariposas excellent work. It is because of Mariposas excellent work and attitude that has this review gets a two star instead of 1 star. Technically it out be zero star, but for Mariposa. On my 5th return I saw a new manager was there and Mariposa was off from work that day. This is what I was told by the manager. A new woman appeared and was given the task to me. She put on this pouty face like she didnt what to service me. This was the first bad sign and I did not listen to my instincts and went with the lady. (how many times as humans have we not listen to our instincts and paid the price for it later on?) I followed the woman...(well call her Mala Mujer going forwards)...to their waxing room. The woman waxed my legs getting droppings of wax all over my legs. She did not listen to me when I told her six different times she was missing hair on my legs. I was trying to be polite, but I could feel myself getting annoyed with her.She knew what I wanted done because I explained this to her boss, who told her in Vietnamese. There is no misunderstanding and and she knew it, but played stupid like she didnt know English.Once again she got excess wax on my arms, genitals and between my buttcheeks. (Good God Mala was sloppy) When she was done she started to leave. I stopped her right there and asked politely but firmly to remove the wax she had left on me. Mala did an extremely pisspour job at removing the wax. She told me to go home and wash the stuff off, then she left the room.TO BE CONTINUED:
I am a regular walk-in client. I go here because I dont have to schedule an appointment, its good value, and everything is clean. Its nice but not fancy. Ive been going here for a few years now and receive consistently good service.
I love The manager Paris. He is a lovely person. If you want consistently good experiences at salons you have to become a regular and find a technician who knows you, what you want, and how you like to be treated. Personally, Mai is my favorite here but, I have used other girls in pinches and most of them do a really good job. They have a great eye lash service by the way.Beth
She gave me the worst gel manicure ever! It literally peeled off after two days and she got so much polish on my skin, never go here!!
Honestly this is the worst place I have ever been to. They don’t know what coffin shape is at all. And my nails came out all slanted and crooked. But that’s not even the worst part, the manager there is completely unprofessional. When I asked for a refund they said they couldn’t give me a refund. All they could offer was store credit. When I didn’t want the store credit because of how terrible my nails looked, I asked to speak to the owner and he said to take it up with the mall. He refused to give me a refund and said it was against store policy. When I asked to see their refund policy, they refused to show me one and just said it was their policy. When the manager didn’t want to talk anymore he just walked away and ignored me. They have absolutely no value for their customers. I am never coming back here again.
Very bad value. Most expensive pedicure in town and was so rushed. Did not include even the basics that others do like hot towel. My nail tech was very rude and barked at me, she didn’t speak to me as if I was a human, paying customer but more like I was begging her for a free service. Will not return!Update - had my mani pedi on Saturday afternoon. Come today, Monday morning nail polish came off completely on both index fingers and thumb. Also chipping on ring fingers. A massive waste of money, the corner nail salon does a better job.
I asked for a simple coffin shape medium sized nails. She honestly looked like she didn’t know what she was doing, I’ve never been to a nail salon were someone didn’t know what she was doing she kept redoing the acrylic itself not the nails she made my nails oval not coffin, she than proceeded me to pay for nails I hated. I made her stop completely no color or design and paid $50 for nails that could’ve been done better by someone who knew what they were doing. Not recommended, don’t come here it’s trash. Never. Coming. Back. Again.
I said I wanted the dip powder without color, the nail tech proceeded to yell at me that I needed to pick a color. I again repeated I need them to look natural as I can’t have color for work. She threw the colors at me and told me to pick, another nail tech told her what I was saying and with attitude she came back and started. While clipping my cuticles she nicked one finger and said I had thin skin which is why I was bleeding. I said I wanted my nails trimmed down, she cut them completely off. She carried on to the dip, I asked if they were still going to look that thick and she said no. At the end I stated I was unhappy and she only wished to argue with me about what I said. Now as they are dry, some look like they are peeling up and some of the skin is stuck to my nails. To end it all they are so thick my finger tips look completely clubbed. I came in with long nails just looking for them to look decent and shaped up but I’m leaving with clubbed nubs.
Avoid this place, it’s way overpriced !! They charged $17 for my husbands manicure & didn’t even soak his hands long, or shape the nails. Even with a regular manicure this is standard at every salon I’ve been at.An extra $8 for hot wax and treatment, didn’t let it sit long enough to help the arthritis. Gel manicure $37 then keep trying to get you to do other services I didn’t even want. I’m sitting in the chair and only wanted a gel manicure & the tech kept asking me why not do dip it’s better, why not get a pedicure. Then overcharge me & my husband for substandard service.
The nail technician Henry was very unprofessional. I addressed something I wanted fixed and he never attempted to even make them better. He used a different technique for every nail like he had no idea how to apply dip powder. Proceeded to make me sign and tip my payment in front of him prior to him finishing my nails. I’ve never had to do that at any place I’ve been. Let me see the finished result and then I will give the appropriate tip. Four days later, yes 4 days and I had two nails come completely off. Went into get them fixed, definitely did not want the prior technician. Went home, and the next day two more break. Spent $60 on a extremely poor job from someone who rushed through it and proceeded to say if anything happens come back in. No! I want the job done right the first time so I don’t have to waste my precious time coming in to your location to get things fixed! WILL NEVER BE BACK. Other than to get my money back! WARNING EVEryone! No wonder you all have a 2.0 rating on google
I’m surprised this place has such a low rating. I almost didn’t go because of it, but a trusted friend told me they had a good experience so I gave it a shot. I don’t get my nails done a lot (my last time was one year ago), but honestly this was one of the best places I’ve been to. It is big and they seem to have plenty of employees, so there was no wait (walk in, no appointment). I know cleanliness is a big concern for places like this, and I saw no issues. They accept credit card payments and actually allow you to put a tip on the card (I’ve been to a couple places that insist a tip be in cash form). I got the deluxe pedicure, and they allowed me to sit in the chair while my nails dried instead of sending me to a “drying station”—that was a nice perk. I do wish my technician had done a little more with trimming nails/cuticles, but that could vary depending on the employee you get. Overall, it was a nice experience for what I consider an average price ($43 for deluxe ped). Would definitely go back.
This is by far one of the worst nail salons I’ve ever been to. First of all, the owner is very unprofessional and rude. Secondly, he only offered alcoholic beverages to certain people. There were three of us and he just gave us water. I wanted my artificial nails taken off and my nail tech wouldn’t take them off. She ended up doing a fill in when in actuality I wanted a take off and manicure; which I asked for 3 times! So now I STILL have fake nails which I did not want! Was charged fourty dollars for a crappy and rushed job. I was told what color to get put on my nails because I had pink and white on my nails from before so I had to get a dark nail polish color to cover the white. To top it all off, the owner and another tech come over to the station that I am sitting at and starting yapping in their language staring at me blatantly speaking about me. So DAMN rude! Avoid at all costs.
I wasted time and money here. My nails were terrible. Not all the staff seemed tired or welcoming me. I regret going there. Operators here should know about this problem.
I am 4 days away from having my daughter so I really wanted to do something for myself and relax a little bit but todays spa experience did not do it for me. I walked into the salon around 12 pm and requested a pedicure. I was taken right back and placed into a chair. I put my feet into the water and it was Luke warm at best. My feet were in the water for maybe a minute before the guy pulled both feet out to work on them. I was expecting a nice, long relaxing experience but my guy was rushing everything. I was even charged 5$ extra to remove dead skin from my big toes, which I have never ever been charged before. The whole process from beginning to end was only 15-20 minutes which is the shortest pedicure Ive ever had in my life! After paying I was told to sit in my chair and wait for my toes to dry and at that point I didnt see my guy again. I just got up and left when I felt like they were dry enough. I was really hoping my last pedicure fir a while would have been a little more enjoyable, I definitely would not recommend this place.
Got a great manicure today! The woman who did my nails did a wonderful job, Im very happy with how they turned out. I will be coming back next time I need a fill-in!
The manager was next to me directing several times the staff who was doing my nails. I am a regular client, and had good manicures and pedicures in the past. Perhaps, manager was upset when I asked to use the bathroom while not been at an appointment earlier this week. He did not let me use the bathroom. The staff seemed intimidated and started doing my manicure at the pedicure chair even if the salon was not busy and several tables were available. It seems like the manager was telling the staff to do a bad job.
This place is the worst for any type of service. I was gonna get gel manicure and a regular pedicure, but after noticing what the lady was doing to my toes I said “no manicure” she got up set, rushed the pedicure and I was diene in less then 15 min. She did no scrubbing, no cutting and no buffing . Only thing the lady did was change the polish for $35. Do not go here.
Avalon’s new ownership and management have really turned this place around! The new renovations are beautiful, the new decor flows perfectly, and the new music is amazing to sit back and really relax to!
THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!!! This nail salon doesnt deserve a 1 star rating. My nails looked good on the first day but then by the next week, I had a chipped nail and the nail polish was coming off on EACH NAIL. I went in to get it fix and they wouldn’t even re-paint the nails. The person who did my nails was so RUDE when i came in the next week! I’m so DISAPPOINTED. Now one of my nails completed came off. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DON’T GO TO THIS PLACE. PLEASE AND THANK YOU!
Went to this nail salon and they took me right away but ten minutes in to my service, a regular customer came in and they rushed through my nails so they could squeeze her in. They were trying to get me out. They were fairly rude and charged more than the other nail salons in the mall. I would not go back here.
Every time i told them to fix a small mistake they would just make it worse. THE COFFIN SHAPE WASNT EVEN COFFIN. IT LOOKED ALSO LIKE A PENTAGON
This is my first time getting a full set of acrylicbnails and they look great!
I went here during my vacation from work with my cousin who lives in Maryland and it was the worst experience at a nail salon I have ever had. The guy doing my cousins nails globbed the product on her nails so thick it looked as if a 2 year old had done them. The lady doing mine was wondering around from station to station talk to other workers and while my nails werent as bad as my cousins there was barely any polish on them. The worst part was they knew they did a crappy job and rushed us to pay before we saw the end results. My cousin told the manager about her problem with the job done and he has the guy come back and work on them only making her fingers sore and cutting her. The end result was still ugly nails. $50 for a crappy job isnt worth it! I wouldnt recommend this to my worst enemy. I wont ever go back! Dont go unless you want halfass service.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I got my nails done yesterday and it has already chipped. THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN! HORRIBLE JOB. IF i COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I WOULD
I got SNS done which I believe is supposed to last at least 2 weeks. One of my nails fell off. Others are coming loose. They also are not very friendly. Will not come back.
This place was awful! First, I specifically asked for my artificial nails to be soaked off and a new full set applied. The nail tech insisted on clipping my artificial nails off with something similar to a nail clipper, which she was using so insensitively that she clipped the middle part of my pinky nail off down to the skin causing it to bleed. Then before putting on the acrylic, she didnt bother to clip my real nails evenly, but instead left them jagged. I also asked for coffin shaped nails and only like 2 of them were actually coffin shape. Within 10 days of getting a full set from this salon, 4 of my nails cracked in half, which never happens to me. Worst experience ever at a nail salon! I will never go back.
After 2hrs and 45 mins for an SNS manicure at Avalon, I left dissatisfied and upset. The nail tech didnt know what she was doing, so I complained to the manager which led to no resolution. The powder dip is visible and my nails look extremely bubbly. Not to mention, I have three fingers that are bleeding from the tech buffing my cuticles so hard. I am a valued customer at this nail salon and always spending $120 minimum with 20% tip. I am so disappointed to have been treated this way. Unfortunately, I will not be returning again. Dont spend your hard earned money here!!!!!!
If I could give this nail salon zero stars I would. I got dip on a Saturday and had 4 of my nails fall off within a week. I went back two different times to get my nails fixed but clearly it did not work. After the third and forth nail that came off I went back in to complain that I spent $45 for horrible quality. The man that did them proceeded to laugh when I told him that I had four nails fall off. This place is very unprofessional and clearly do not know how to run a nail business.
The lady who did my nails was doing my nails in a rush. Did not care at all. When she was painting my nails,I noticed it was not fully blended and when I asked her to fix it she just painted over it. I mean just horrible smh...I highly reccomend you do not go there..so unprofessional and you will not leave happy.
I am 11 years old and they did not have respect for me or anyone what so ever. They were very rude and talked in their own language about me. very poor service I do not recommend going there at all. Also they did not do what I asked and they were making decisions for me. I asked for ombre nails and she gave me brown color nails with parts of my nail not covered. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HONESTLY 0 STARS
Great last minute nail repair!
This is the last time I ever come here. Really bad service and very rude. They didnt what I asked, the chair is broken, it looks bad, I could have done a better job myself. Waste of money and time...save your money go somewhere else.
Make sure to ask for Female! My mom and I went, she got a fantastic lady, but I got this young guy with spiked up hair (not in uniform like the girls) and he did a horribleness job! Left cuticles, barely cut nails, extra foot scrub was Not worth $5, didnt do a full leg scrub at all, didnt use the rough sponges. He spent more time flirting with all the girls than on my feet. And every service was five-dola extra! He was disappointed I didnt want gel on my toes, thank goodness cuz It would have been horrible! When it came around to tip time, he was the first flying around saying tip, you going to tip?Salon was nice, chairs were comfy and they provided water to each person. It was pretty empty and they let us sit and chat on the massage chairs while our toes dried up.Unnecessarily pricy too...$35 for regular pedicure, $50 for gel pedicure, $5 for foot scrub, $5 to remove scrub, $5 for some other stuff (very pushy).
Terrible place. Horrible service and even more horrible manicure. Super rough and careless and the manicure is super uncomfortable and thick. Got a French manicure and the line was super uneven and thick. Totally not worth it.
Very poor pedicure, very short and too expensive..
Horrible quality and very poor services. The women working there are rude and unprofessional. I asked them to open a clean manicure set and they refused and just said that it was clean. The lady who did my nails did a really bad job and when I asked to fix one nail they told me to go look for her somewhere downstairs. I actually had to ask one lady whether she was upset because she had such a horrible demeanor.
Indifferent service and poor manicure. Gel polish started chipping and peeling after 3 days and quality of manicure was terrible. Will never go back. Dont waste your money!
Terrible pedicure. When I complained, was told I should have asked for more expensive services! Never again.
This place is terrible. SO RUDE. The last time I was there I vowed I would never give them a dime again.
The lady I had was so rude and cold she didn’t do a good job and when I complained the manager said “she is usually like that” but there waxing isn’t that bad
My wife went here once and she said thats the only time shell ever be there and never again.
Messed my girls nails up!
The owner is unprofessional ; quality of nail service is average
Horrible! I needed to get a manicure after I left to fix the atrocious job they did.
Techs always seem to be inpatient
Excellent!
Cool
Never again.
Horrible!!! I got my nails done for vacation/my birthday, it first stared off with she couldnt do my design, yet it was a diagonal French so I settled for regular french. On top of it my nail tech couldnt do the basic French either so she had someone else do the basic French. My acrylic GEL nails didnt even last my entire trip popped off after 3 days of getting them done so yea my second day on the trip they were popping off. My gel pedicure lasted maybe 4 days and thats me being nice. I paid a lot of money for nothing! If I could do no stars I would! Ruined my birthday weekend
