I loved my experience at this store. The employees were fantastic, especially this one miss, I think her name was Olivia?? She was so kind and answered all my questions. I couldn’t have asked for a better sales associate. I will definitely be back to this location for my next purchase.

Walked into the store to ask two simple yes or no questions, every employee was with a customer aside form one stocking shelves. I asked him if I could ask a quick question and was met with I need to fulfill orders but can connect you with someone the guy walked me around the store and spent more time explaining why he could not answer the question instead of just answering a freaking question and get on with whatever he needed to do. Apples customer service used to be the standard and now its just disappointing. If your job is to fulfill orders, do it off the floor and pull from your back stock room if you are too bothered to just answer a simple yes or no question. Disappointing.

Before coming to the store we called and spoke with a representative who provided information about student promotion going on and asked if interested to come down to the store to purchase the Mac book Air without an appt. My daughters and I came to the store purchase a Mac book Air at 6:30 p.m two hours before closing. The male sales person who was caucasian came up to us stating that he was notified that there is no more appoitment available to purchase any merchandise. We then asked him to schedule us an appointent for us tomorrow and he responded I am sorry I can not see the schedule for tomorrow, therefore, I can not schedule an apt for you. He was rude and not helpful at all and it was because we were latinx. Before leaving the store I made a phone call to the store in Emerville and the representative was very pleasant and was able to schedule an apt for us tomorrow with no problem.

TL;DR: If you plan to go to this store you should make an appointment first, as one staff member helpfully told me after waiting over an hour for service they said only have a wait time of 25 minutes.Once I actually got service, the employee was very sweet. However, that was only after an absolutely absurd check in process and wait time. I would give the staff member who helped me six stars, but this review is about the store.-------Long Version: (Times are approximate, +/- five minutes)I walked in at 5:45pm yesterday with the intention of trading in several devices to then use the credit to purchase an iPad Air. At check-in, they said my wait would be 20-35 minutes. At 6:35, a staff member came over to tell me I couldnt sit at the table I was at because it was for the genius bar appointments only. There were at least three open tables, and zero seating in the rest of the store. He then pulled up my check-in and added a note about the table I was at because the staff wouldnt be able to find me in the no mans land between genius bar and the demo unit tables.At 6:50, I went and found a staff member to ask what my wait time might be because it was now more than double (almost triple) the original estimate. The gentleman could not find me in the system, but said that sometimes meant a staff member had been assigned to me and just hadnt found me yet on the store floor. After he walked away to check, another staff member (I believe the original lady who checked me in) said walk-ins are just like that sometimes and that I should make an appointment next time.After a few more minutes sitting at the table, a woman who I presume was a manager or supervisor came over to assure me they hadnt forgotten me but it would be another 15-20 minutes because there were two people ahead of me. Fortunately, this time the estimate was true. At 7:10 a very kind gentleman came and helped me through the process. They even had the exact iPad model I wanted in stock, so I was able to walk out with that instead of having to buy it online and wait another week to receive it. However, I did not walk out of the store with my business complete until 7:50. I take ownership of 20 minutes of that time due to confusion and inattention on my own part, however 7:30 is still absurd.The most outrageous part for me though, is the lack of communication. I am incredibly angry to have lost my entire evening to this. My plans yesterday were fluid. Had they told me it would be over an hour wait, I could very easily have gone to get dinner and come back. But, because I had to wait an hour and a half to even START my transaction, I had to cancel all other plans I had last night.I admittedly do not know what might have caused this. Maybe it requires a specialized/genius bar technician to process trade ins. Maybe its covid precautions, as several businesses have moved to appointment only to control customer flow (however they typically have this posted at the door, and do not offer walk-ins at all.) Maybe the system glitched and lost my place in the queue. Maybe I got put in a lower priority queue for non-purchase customers since I forgot to mention I wanted to buy an iPad at the door. Hell, maybe their sales tactic is to starve and exhaust their customers so that they can take advantage of their clouded judgement. I know I am most certainly wondering whether the upgrade was worth all of this, and that I will likely never purchase another apple product. I was already one foot out the door due to poor service at other stores and the prohibitive costs, but this experience has pretty much sealed the deal for me.Regardless of the reasons though, dont come here without an appointment, since walk-ins are just like that sometimes.

Low commitment to customer care — takes a week to get an appointment for service, then no guarantees on repair times and although they say systems are repaired in the shop they still hold the system for 3-5 business days. Since this is the best they can do, anyone planning to use a MAC for business should consider a more reliable option. Windows based machines, while awful to use, can at least receive timely attention when in need of repair. Apple, usually a star performer, earns shame points on respect for customers when it comes to keeping their kit in good working order.

I wish I had the option to give negative stars. This stores inability to be organized and rational with their customers during COVID is absolutely insane. Bought a brand new phone to cover me while mine was getting repaired by apple support with intentions to return it within 2 weeks. Arrive here 10 days after the purchase, after driving an hour from Napa only to be informed that you now need an appointment to return a phone. Thanks for telling me. Make an appointment for the following week, they resolve the problem, but in the rudest fashion. If you ever need the poorest representation of what customer service should be, come spend an hour at this store.

Went in to get a quote for a broken display. Was told it would be an hour to see a genius, and Id get a text when my turn in the queue was 10 minutes away. Great! Shuffled my schedule, an hour and twenty minutes later, I came back had not heard anything. Store looked shocked to see me. Told them I had been expecting a text. After taking my name again. She said I was in the queue. I asked how long it would be now? She said she could possibly let me talk to the store manager to bump some people?? What? This is Apple - a trillion dollar company famed for customer care. The Berkeley store seems unable to figure out how long the wait will be for that service? Or how to properly staff? Took the watch with me to NYC had it repaired there. Ive had nothing but bad service at the Berkeley store (this was my 2nd try). Go anywhere but here.

Do not get your Mac repaired here. Said they would take 1 or 2 days to replace one key on the keyboard. A week later, with no updates in mean time, they tell me it will be another 2 days to replace the entire keyboard. Person I spoke with had no clue what’s going on. Went to the store today, I counted 9 people standing doing absolutely nothing. The store had at most 3 customers. I was there to purchase an iMac and a ipad pro. With a straight face I was asked if I had a purchase appointment. Since I did not, they said I couldnt purchase. They squandered a $3000.00 sale. Covid procedures are just an excuse not to work. I have felt bad for people losing their jobs due to the pandemic, thanks Apple personnel I now hope people lose their jobs.

I had to wait too long for a salesperson to help me. No one approached me to offer assistance. The stars are for the cleanliness and order that Apple stores seem to maintain effortlessly, and for the one salesperson who helped me purchase what I wanted. He had to look through the floor stock to ensure that the item I wanted wasnt already out, but when that was resolved he had someone bring the item to him / us and within minutes I was out the door.But this took too long. There were too many sales people standing around gabbing with one another, watching me watch them. This is why I prefer to go through Amazon, or even eBay. The only reason I went in was because I needed the thing then and I had a gift card, and because I didnt want to pay shipping. *None* of the current Apple hardware theyre selling currently holds any interest for me. Its all sealed tight so you cant manipulate it or fix it yourself. My 15 2012 MBP might be the last viable Apple item Ill ever buy....I really hope it can keep up with all of the updates....Anyway, I wont be returning if I can help it.

Great customer service! Although when its busy, it could take a while to get a chance to talk to an employee. I just love visiting this place to check out the latest Apple technology. I would recommend checking with an employee first once you get there to make sure you dont just wait around for no reason. Also, check the stock on the products on Apple store so you know they have what you want in store.

Ive been here many times, and always actually look forward to it. Even though theyre always busy, the staff is always very friendly. Not only are they friendly, every staff person Ive met here comes across as if theyre happy and comfortable where they work. Theyre also extremely competent, knowledgeable and smart. I had a piece of an audio jack break and get stuck in my MacBook. After several failed attempts at fishing it out I decided to drop in and get my IO board replaced.After stopping by here trying to get a drop in appointment and finding out they were fully booked for a week I decided to make a appointment online.Leo was the rep who worked with me. He was really helpful, even taking some time to try and fish the broken piece out himself before recommending a replacement part.I dropped off my MacBook for repairs, and I got a call later that day saying it was fixed. That was damn fast. I didnt even have to go a day without my computer before it was fixed.

I wanted to do apple’s widely advertised trade in your IPhone for a Xr for $479. But I told my wife I knew there would be some catch. After getting jerked around by several salesmen I was told that I couldn’t trade in my phone because the lens was cracked. Interesting since all the photos I have taken have come out fine. The Apple stores used to be fun; the people there seemed to enjoy what they were doing and were genuinely helpful. Those days are long gone. The next phone I buy will not be an IPhone. John Larson

Experience with the Apple store was not good. Very frustrating. The staff were disorganized and impatient They would not make an appointment for personal help in the store, but promised to call with technical support that would solve the problems. They called ten minutes later than they promised, and the representative was not audible. The call was cut off and no one called back. I tried to call to make an appointment, but got through to a machine. I would like to receive personal help with my I Phone and computer. I had understood that the Genius Bar could provide this help. I also needed glass protection for the phone, and they were finally able to do that, but to get help with this, I had to chase down an employee, and it took quite a bit of time for the employee to get the supplies he needed in order to affix the protection. The Berkeley store needs better organization so that customers can get the help they need. Perhaps a contact person in the front of the store who can direct the customer to the appropriate staff member or who can make an apppointment for those who need extended help. I had bought the Apple product because I had understood that Apple actually provided customer support.

Got to the Berkeley Apple store around 3:30 pm today and while they were still a bit busy, we were greeted immediately and lucky enough to get Mark helping us right away. He answered all of our questions and helped us choose the right iPhone for my husband. He resolved all of our problems with an old iPhone and got our newly purchased one working quickly. Then we were helped immediately with set up and didnt have to spend more than about 45 minutes there for everything. This is the best service we have ever received from Apple and will go to this store in the future (even though its a little longer drive) instead of to the Bay Street Emeryville store where the experience is anticipated with dread based on past experience there.

Went to exchange some airpods that were brand new in the wrapper still for a pair of beats pro and they would not exchange it because it was past their 14 day return policy even though it was just an exchange for something that was at a higher price. Ended up going to the apple store in emeryville and they did the exchange for me. All they did was ask for the managers ok and boom done. Never going back to this apple store again.

Horrible service, first time I was there was useless, then I got an email about my battery replacement, I called the number in the email a few times and nobody answered so I went back to the store just to waste more time as they couldn’t replace my battery because supposedly they were overloaded and I should have come before 5pm, I would have been useful to get that information upfront either in email or by answering the phone! Now I have to go one more time, I am very dissatisfied.

This is a great Apple Store. It is well staffed and a well organized space in a smallish location for an Apple Store. The staff really is what shines, as they always have a high number of employees to customers and anyone can help you check-out right at the spot you are standing. Plus, as a power-user, I find the staff extremely well informed (not always the case). And, you can get the Store App and self check-out when the store busy. And if there is a knock on this store it is how swamped it can get on busy days -- plus the parking isnt the easiest. Overall, a top-end Apple Store.

My in-store experiences have always been positive and rewarding. However, DO NOT TRY TO CONTACT THIS STORE BY PHONE. First, you will get a voice-activated application that assures you it will understand your inquiry. When, after 2 tries, it fails to do so, it transfers you to a human. If you have the presence of mind to ask, you will find out that you are not in fact speaking to the store whose number you dialled--but rather to someone at a call center. Once you explain, yet again, why you were attempting to reach the store by phone, you will be transferred--supposedly to the store--where you will wait on hold for 9 minutes. Dont know what happens after this, because I hung up. Got tired of hearing Johnny Cash relaying in song why he walks the line.So, how should I rate this store when the in-person experience was consistently great (5 stars) but the telephonic communications were abysmal (1 star, max)? Ill split the difference and give it 3 stars.

Purchased my iPhone X online and had a set appointment. Was sent back and forth from the back of the store and back while speaking to 4 different people before someone finally told me to wait 15 minutes while they got my order prepared. The entire process took around 40 minutes, which is a little much considering they ask you to set an appointment time.Overall a very messy and inefficient experience and it seemed no one knew whose job it was to handle which customer. It might have even been faster just to walk into the store and purchase my phone there instead of buying online and setting an appointment.

Over the past years Ive found the employees to become less and less knowledgeable and friendly.On my last visit they were trolling me by remotely manipulating a computer that I was trying out (as I found out since they have themselves away by their giggling).In contrast, my visit to Microsoft earlier today was great and helpful. This place sucks. First I waited two hours for a Genius appointment, then the Genius [NOT] misdiagnosed my MacBook, said it was dead and it would cost $600 to get it to boot and whatever else. I took it home and it wasnt dead. Ive been using it for weeks. Im using it right now. All it needs is a battery replacement, but they wouldnt even let me drop it off the neXT time I went in, even if I stood around waiting for hours, unless I just handed it over and agreed to pay $600. There are of course not a lot of choices if you need a Mac repaired, but I would avoid this place if possible.
