I came in to check if some aftermarket wheels I have would work with my van and also to get an oil change. I got the oil change and they said the wheels wouldn’t work, so I got what I came for.However, they also said my front brake pads were at 3 mm and close to needing replacement. I had just had them replaced two months ago so that was surprising. I called the mechanic that did them and they instructed me how to visually inspect them and take a picture with my phone. He saw the picture and said they were definitely not as worn as Don’s said they were. I went back to Don’s and told them and they checked again and they’re at 10 mm. I can’t trust Don’s and therefore won’t go back, and that’s why I’m giving them 1 star.In addition, I came punctually at my scheduled time and they took 2 hours to do the oil change and wheel check while I waited, which I thought was longer than necessary (though I wouldn’t have given a bad review based on that alone).

I went for a simple taco at the Mexican restaurant down the block, and suddenly the ninjas who had been following me from Paris attacked. I spun out, into a perfect 360 donut, evading them, as I rocketed around the block, giving them the slip.Safely headed home, I was surprised when my tire was punctured by one of the ninja stars left over from my heroic battle.Luckily, It was in front of Dons tires, and they quickly replaced my tire with a professional and courteous manner, and soon I was on my way, ready for more adventures.I highly recommend them!

I have a vintage 1990 Westfalia Vanagon camper van and I‘ve been coming here since it was recommended by Buslab for any kind of tire work on classic cars. Service at the front and back of the house is always awesome. The ladies in the front are so friendly. I was amazed that they were able to special order me some 215/65/r16 Nokian Rotiiva AT XL tires so quickly and cheaper than prices I found online. I was expecting a backorder as it’s a pretty specific all-terrain tire that isn’t so commonly requested but they were able to get them for a NEXT DAY install without my even requesting such a quick timeframe. They are fast! The alignment was top notch too. Couldn’t ask for more.

Went here to buy a set of Michelin for my Japanese car. They suggested a cheaper set of Yokohama that work better and came with a rebate. Bought an alignment too for seventy five bucks. Work was done quickly and with quality. Went back a week later when a lug nut took off; they took care to re-torque all the wheels quickly and without charge.

Great staff & Service and good prices! They have helped my wife and I with everything from tires and brakes to replacing stolen wheels. They really go out of the way to make sure you are taken care of! I had hunted around for a replacement wheel for the one stolen & what a pain! The nice woman there took care of everything for us and saved the hassle of having to find the matching replacement rim. Highly recommend their service!

Went here to get a flat fixed. Popped in early Saturday afternoon and they fixed it really fast. It was only $25, which included putting the spare tire back under the car. Service here is always good also. Plus we had a great meal across the street at Lama Beans.

Dons has been in Berkeley it seems forever and their service has always been terrific. My family has been going there for years. Our son got new tires on his car but within two weeks got a nail in one. When we took it in for repair there was no charge as despite it being no fault of the tire. Dons policy is to guarantee as there was virtually no wear. This was unexpected but speaks to their integrity and honesty. You will always get the best prices, great service and your car back in a timely manner.

I got a new tire + oil change on my Chevy Volt for less than what the dealership charges for a tire alone, and all with awesome same-day service completed in less than an hour. Call them for same-day appointments as the online system doesnt show same day spots but staff is super helpful if you call.They even happily did a same-day order of the exact tire I needed to match my OEM original set of low rolling resistance tires which maximize EV efficiency (after helping me figure out what model of tire I needed over the phone).Tons of cute restaurants and coffee shops as well as Whole Foods in walking distance to work or do errands while you wait. Have already recommended to friends and family and recommend to anyone who reads this review as well.

I was charged for rims having to get fixed. One of the workers working outside looked at the car and said it was no big deal. The rim is not bent. The lady on front desk still charged me!On top of the extra charge they try to sell you the most expensive tires they can to get the most money out of your pocket.They are not clear on the pricing of what they are going to charge you and the communication from the staff to people in front desk is not good. Much respect for the guys and galls doing their job professionally but the administration is so unprofessional.

Pretty straight forward stuff.Nothing lackluster but nothing outstanding. The parking lot is a bit on the smallish side and the walk-in area accommodates enough space for the amount of morning traffic Ive seen there.Customer service reps usually serve up a smile and get down to business. Turn around times for tire rotation or replacement has always been reasonable. Just know that its first come first serve so get there early.What I do like is that you can drop in anytime if your tires are low on pressure and use their air compressor for free. Theyre typically pretty busy so dont expect someone to offer a hand. Its self serve which is totally cool.Prices are reasonable and if you but tires there, rotations are free. They offer an Android app that seems to offer some convenient features but I havent actually interacted with (just read about it on their website). Id bump them up a star if they offered an iOS app as well and/or if they provided a way to make appointments.

Rolling out on a camping trip only to realize one tire of our trailer had a leak. Took it to Dons. They didnt stock the tire we needed but they had a pair of replacement tires there in 30 minutes and had them installed in 45, all for $122. Receptionists were kind and funny. Back on the road feelin good 👍

I made an 11am appointment to take my vehicle in for a simple service (check balance of front wheels). When I got there (at 10:55), the intake process was great and they listened to what I wanted to do. They told me it would be ready between 12:15 and 12:30. A long wait for a 2 tire balance but I saw they were busy so I went with it. They said they would call when it was ready. I left for an hour and when I came back, the vehicle had not been touched. I asked if it would still be ready by 12:30 (as I had to leave at that point) and they said that they couldnt guarantee it. I ended up having to leave after wasting an hour (plus the time to make the appointment) with no work being done. Their desk staff was nice, but didnt seem to think much about wasting my time and didnt even call to let me know what was happening. Not recommended.

The staff at Dons Tire Service are friendly and helpful, above and beyond what you normally find. When my friend dropped me off, to pick up my car that was serviced well and quickly, Dons staff spotted nails in my friends tire and stayed open late to fix it right then. Great local business, worth supporting.

I did not have an appointment but the lady on the front desk answered all my questions in a straightforward and helpful manner. So I went ahead with the oil change and tire installation. The time estimate given was true since my car is ready when I came back. The price is reasonable and I appreciate the efficiency of them doing their job. I found my new auto maintenance shop!

06/15/16 Angela at the front desk and Greg from the shop were super to work with. My 2014 Rubicon had a lift recently installed and Greg knows Jeeps and was very familiar with alignment on such vehicles. Greg was able to dial it in to a perfect alignment and it drives super. Ill be a return customer. Greg went so far as to go on a test drive with me to ensure I was a satisfied customer. Also aligned my Jaguar S type here which also drives super after the alignment. Reasonable pricing. John

I have gone to Dons tires, a couple times. The first time my tire was punctured. They were timely, friendly, showed me the puncture and priced everything out for me. I ended up bringing in a used tire to replace it as my tires are now discontinued and expensive, and they had it done in less than an hour for less than expected. Second time, I came in for an oil change. It was completely routine and done in quickly and also for a good price.

Dons is great shop. Theyre always there for my automotive needs and the one time that they couldnt take my car they referred me to a great shop around the corner.

Wait room small but has a few amenities, staff is knowledgeable n accommodating.

This tire place has been here for ages and is still in business although lots of people go to costco. There must be a reason!The price is ok, the service is good.They dont just fit your car with new tires but will also be able to do alignment and some mechanical work (brakes etc)They are quick, give you a call when they are done and the job is done well.

I got a flat tire, screw in the tire from work.Came to Dons, sold me a tire and put it on. Offered to rotate my tires since the flat was in the front and new tires should be in the back.Less than one year later: washing my car I notice the tread from the front tire they moved is completely bald only on one side, the inside, down to the steel...They didnt install the tires correctly, unbalanced and ruined a perfectly good tire in the process.Came back in to explain the situation and all I got was attitude and excuses.Beware, this place is shady and can leave you in an unsafe vehicle.

There are not too many times in life that rate a five star review But Dons Tires has consistently over the 25 years I have have been a customer delivered top notch service that is friendly, helpful and affordable.It is 8am and I have three cars that cannot be driven and would all need to be towed to a tire shop. Our cars were vandalized along with 15 others in the neighborhood. Each car had all four tires slashed on the side walls.Dons set up the replacement tires, and made arrangements for one of their mechanics to come out and assist me in getting all the tires replaced without having to tow any of them.THIS IS WAY ABOVE AND BEYOND TYPICAL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!Thank you Don, you and your staff set a standard that all businesses should strive to achieve. I have been a customer for 25 years and will be a customer for another 25!

Called to ask if I could bring in my car slightly after 5:30, and the woman literally laughed as she told me they were only open until 5. I told her what the website said, and she continued to laugh while saying I dont know why it says that, because were only open until 5. I guess somebodys going to have to change it!Rude, flippant, and completely unprofessional.

I bought 4 tires for my 1984 Porsche Carrera from Dons Tires. They over-tightened the lug nuts on installation and 12 of the lug nuts broke when removing the tires. This caused me nearly $1,000 to remove and repair the lug nuts. Protocol for the older Porsches is very clear that you hand tighten with a torche wrench.Worst of it all, when I went back to discuss with them there was ABSOLUTELY no apolology or even mention of possible restitution. They were terribly unprofessional. I would caution anyone with exotic car or special rims to steer clear!Obviously, I cant go back to them.... Tires were awsome though....
