We hired Dan to redo the floors in our house. We were talking about a refinish but he told us he could do a buff and coat and get the exact same result for half the price. We had concerns going in whether or not the previous owner using Euka oil would cause us problems with a refinish, we gave some of the oil to Dan for him to test out (to which his conclusion was it wouldnt be a problem if he buffed it and actually put down another coat of it) and hired him to do the floors. After the refinish, the finish on the floor never hardened and flakes/rubs off with no effort 3 months later! We called Dan back within a week of install to inspect which he did after putting it off for several weeks, and he stated he would give us our money back due to his shoddy work or put it towards redoing the floors entirely. He was adamant that if he sanded the floors down further it would work this time. We opted to get other bids as we werent 100% confident in his abilities at this point, all of the bids were 2/3 or less the price of what he wanted including the refund! So after telling him we would like a refund, he disappears, and after I call him to ask about the refund (he is too good to return calls apparently) he decided he is NOT going to give us a refund and threatened ME with legal action! It became all too obvious he was just trying to get more work and money out of us. I would avoid this individual, he clearly is not a man of his word and he doesnt stand behind his work. Also notice all the fake reviews that magically appeared after mine? More proof he is a highly dishonest individual! The pictures of the scratched up floors were taken 1 month after he applied the protective coating to my floor. The other flooring company that will be fixing his work was readily able to point out he clearly didnt do his due dilligence and used oils and topcoats that arent compatible. It even says on the bottle for Bona Traffic HD that you cannot have any oil based products on the wood or it would not adhere! Dan was 100% aware out of the gate the floor had an oil finish and not only lied about testing the product as he agreed to before we set a date for the work but couldnt be bothered to even read the bottle of the product he selected! Its also noteworthy on the contract he stated he would put down more oil prior to the top coat. The other flooring companies we recieved bids from came to the obvious conclusion he has no idea what he is doing.I would highly suggest going with the much more stable and skilled flooring companies around Bellingham, this is the only negative review I have ever left for a company on Google and I did so for a very good reason. As an update, I had to sue Dan to get him to pay up for the $12,000 in damages he did to my home. Only then did he pay up.
Dan Robbins Installed a walnut staircase in our home, the job turned out better than we expected and this staircase is one of the centerpieces of our home, all of the wood was previously finished in his shop so the actual work in our home only took 3 days. The craftsmanship was done very well but efficiently, the price never changed from the original quote and that price was very reasonable.
Dan sanded and refinished our clear fir floors in the kitchen, breakfast area, dining room and front hall. We have big dogs in the house and the floors were definitely showing wear and damage. He did a fantastic job and the floors look great. We left town while he did the work, and when we returned there was no chemical smell and there was no dust anywhere. We will recommend him to friends and will use him again in the future.
Had hardwood floors done by Robbins Hardwood. They did an amazing job, from start to finish. I would highly recommend them to refinish flooring, or installing and finishing flooring. Trustworthy, honest and did a great job. Very happy with the work that the owner and the worker that helped him did
Dan and team refinished 695 square feet of white oak flooring at my house, and the floors look just great. When my partner had questions about what the final product would look like, they took the time to show three different finishes or stains - on a bit of our actual floors, not store samples on small pieces of wood. As an amateur woodworker, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the dustless sanding is actually dustless - not a trace anywhere. They paid attention to the details and did a really fine job.Update 5 years later: Floors still look good and show hardly any wear. Finish is holding strong. Testimony to the durability of oak, a quality finish product, and good workmanship.
Robbins Hardwood did an incredible job of install sanding and finishing new floors in my historic home in downtown Bellingham. They really are master craftsman! I have recommended them to friends and family and have had so many compliments on how amazing my floors look.
Robbins Hardwood did an exceptional job on our new hardwood floors and staircase, we had to get on their schedule several months in advance but the wait was well worth it. We have had hardwood floors done by another company in Bellingham at our old house and I can definitely tell that the work done by Robbins Hardwood is on a different level as far as the quality.
Dan and his crew did our floors back in November. We couldnt have asked for better customer service, a great job, and a fair price. And, over a month later, with our dogs and us doing our best to wreak havoc on the floor, it still looks great. Thanks Dan.
My husband and I hired Robbins Hardwood to do a installation of unfinished 4 white oak hardwoods which they sanded and finished in place, they also installed and finished a white oak staircase for us, we could not be more pleased with the results, from the communication to the dustless sanding to the quality and durability of the finish, we have already recommended Robbins Hardwood to some friends who are planning a remodel, its so great to hire and recommend such a truly local and small business!
I had a smaller size floor that needed refinishing and Dan was able to fit the job in fairly quickly which was great, no dust in my home and the floors turned out better than I expected.
Dan Robbins did a great job. 1) He looked professional 2) He acted professional 3) He showed up on time. 4) He finished the work on time. 5) He kept the mess to a bare minimum 6) The workmanship was excellent 7)He did for what he quoted.Doesnt get any better than that .
These guys were great, the owner, Dan was very knowledgeable about his trade and his crew along with himself were clean and respected our home, we got a little over 500 square feet of wide plank oak installed and finished, they colored it really dark and put a low gloss finish on it and it looks very unique and just stunning, the dustless vacuums work really well and we found no evidence of dust in our home at all, our original plan for these floors was to buy a pre finished wood so that we wouldnt have a bunch of dust in our house, but after Dan explained the process and the vacuums systems that they used we decided to go with the raw wood, (another detail that dan brought to our attention is that most pre finished woods have what is called a micro bevel making it look like there is a gap between every board, but the raw wood floors are sanded in place and have a very flat and clean appearance) and have them finish them in place and we are so glad that we did this, the floors are now one of a kind! We could not be happier with our choice of both flooring and the contractor and will be recommending robbins hardwood to any friends who need wood floors.
Quality craftsmanship!
