After I moved to Long Island from NYC I thought I would miss going to the Vertical club on the East Side but I was fortunate to find a fitness club locally that met all my needs. At the time it was Amritraj, then World Gym and now its Long Island Health and Racquet. Ive been very satisfied with the gym for over 20 years. The staff and members are friendly and the gym is spacious and well maintained. The cost of the membership is beyond fair. I made a good move.

I had complained to management over several weeks about some members not wearing their face masks while working out. . Management didn’t seem to care and told me he would have employees monitor the situation.I didn’t see any improvement over several weeks and at one point when I told one of the employees that there was an individual on the treadmill with his face mask completely down, the employee said he was too busy to attend to it even though he was standing around chatting with people about non work related matters.And this is far from the first time I noticed this employee “goofing off” when I came into the gym in the morning.So I cancelled my membershio last week because of incompetent management which has failed to ensure compliance with the state mandatefor wearing masks in the facility.

This is a long over due post! First off I want to thank LIHR for all their hard work getting the gym COVID ready immediately and keeping it in tip top shape throughout the last few months. I have seen the hard work that was put into this task day after day!In the early days of the pandemic, people were so nervous to come in the front door but once you walked in you could see all the covid safeguards that had been put into place like, hand sanitizer stations, check-in and the temperature stations and enforcement of mask and cleaning procedures, all kept in check because of the loyal staff.Last summer the staff work diligently getting the equipment outside - day after day for only a few people who showed up but they kept it up! This was such a bad time for many people including myself-the one thing I counted on everyday was LIHR Because I knew I was safe.This will always be my gym!

Been going to this gym for 4 years next month. Covid guidelines enforced and gym is well maintained, staff are friendly and courteous

The staff is so friendly and accommodating. The tennis courts are modified for pickleball. The cost is reasonable, especially when they have specials.

Ive recently joined this gym and its just a really easy going chill place. The other members and staff are all really nice and theres always enough space. Its a good vibe, and a great place to work out.

I love this gym. I have been going to World Gym for over a year and enjoy working out there. There is a great deal of space so its comfortable and the people who attend the gym are respectful and considerate. The staff is friendly and try to accomodate needs. I had been looking around for a while to find a gym that I feel relaxed and not intimidated and this gym is the perfect fit for me. Bruce, Bill and team created a fun, caring environment to stay fit and be healthy.

My wife had a membership there and tried to cancel pre-covid and was told she needed to come in to cancel. 3 days prior to the gym shutting down she called again and tried to cancel and received the same answer... to come in. Never received an email saying the gym reopened and was charged 2 months. When she realized they started charging her again she called and they told her she couldve cancelled over the phone. now she is stuck with paying 2 months of a gym membership she hasnt been to. The machines are ancient nothing is updated and the communication with the staff is awful.

Cant recommend this gym enough. Very spacious and clean with a friendly staff The only real issue like others have said is parking during peak hours. As far as suggestions go, I would like to see an extra bench press and/or a proper dead-lift platform instead of the smiths machines which are pretty underutilized.

I dont know what Id do without this place! The staff & trainers are amazing, helpful & truly kind people. Very clean & welcoming environment with great equipment & classes.

Really like this gym - BUT - I would love it more if they had another squat rack and some more parking. I doubt they can help with the parking due to the lot size, but they could definitely replace one of the smith racks with another full power rack. They are more popular than ever.

Great gym. Loaded with plenty of equipment. Has saunas, steam rooms, pool, racquetball courts. The place is decked out. Worth the monthly fee.

The best gym Ive ever belonged to. Quiet and clean makes this the perfect place to work out and relax in the hot tub afterwards. Two tennis courts and a salt water lap pool made this a perfect place for me. Along with many other perks for even the most serious health enthusiasts makes it the best gym around.

The gym is spacious, but the parking lot is a different story.If they could replace a Smith Machine with another Power Rack, that would be good for people who enjoy serious powerlifting (strength training).

After moving into town and looking for a new gym, I fell in love with this place. The cardio and machines are nicely separated from the free weights. So if you want to lift heavy in a lifting environment, or do cardio and light lifting you dont need to worry about clashing with each other. The sauna and the locker rooms are a huge plus as well. If you want a home town gym feel, heres the place to go.

Great gym. Memberships are cheap, mines about 35 a month contracted for a year. Place is clean, staff is helpful, 2 floors, pool, racket ball, you name it. Its an awesome gym an Im happy to be a member.

This is a nice clean club. We play racquetball, they also offer lots of kid programs, swimming, yoga, and weight training. Personal instructors are available. Small cafe and Nice people!

I just called this place and the lady over the phone was not warm and i felt had an attitude with me. Just from the tone of her voice i can tell she was mad. I asked if they were hiring and she said very sternly that i have to go on the website to fill out an application. I then asked for the managers name and she responded very quick where i had to ask her to repeat herself and i can tell she was quickly losing her patience as she spelled out the managers name letter by letter. I don’t know how the rest of the staff is but i didn’t get a good vibe from this interaction and thought i’d make note of it.

Member at the Wantaugh gym for several years. Clean. Well maintained. Racquetball courts are a plus and is why I am here. Staff courteous and friendly 😉

Dated decor but bright and extremely clean . Everytime Im there no matter what time someone is cleaning . A great mix of old and new equipment and machines . Definitely a great gym . I recommend highly

Ive been a member for years,mainly for racquetball, but have used work out machines as well. Staff friendly, the facility is always clean. Would definitely recommend this gym

Love going here, it’s close to my home and it’s very nice. It’s also very private and personal, nobody is really in your business and it’s the best gym I’ve ever been too.

I have been a member since 1999 and this gym has everything you need from toning, body building, cardio classes, tennis, Racketball, and swimming . The staff is spectacular and you get know everyone feeling like it’s a family oriented atmosphere. They are always cleaning and have cameras loaded for your peace of mind . The parking can be hectic at times but that’s how you know you’ve got the right gym . When your done training there’s a great legendary diner I highly advice next door, The Peter Pan to finish out your day .

Raquetball courts available, the gym is clean and the people are friendly.... good value.

This gym allows my Strength for Life exercise class to use a room here. Class is for cancer survivors. Way to give back! Bravo!

I was looking for a gym that had a steam room, I wasnt really interested in working out. I did an internet search and saw World Gym listed. I called and asked for a special deal considering I only wanted the steam. Bill, the manager said they only had standard rates, no deals. I asked what a membership would cost and he told me $38 a month! To me THAT was a deal! So I came in to check the place out and I was blown away! I was expecting some smelly dingy place, but when I was met by the manager and given a tour, I felt like I was in an upscale establishment. They have 2 plans. The gold plan gives you access to racquetball courts which I dont play, the silver plan gives you everything else, yoga classes, aerobics, all of it. There was a one time $40 fee, then $38 a month with a one year commitment, and thats it! The gym is beautiful and immaculate. The steam room is fiberglass and the steam is powerful with eucalyptus infusion. They have a heated saltwater pool and a jacuzzi with HOT water, and a sauna too. The mens room is like a swanky hotel, all tiled, wood lockers, plenty of light and space. The showers are powerful and the water is hot. Bill the manager treated me like a valued guest, gave me a tour, took me into his office and chatted with me, signed me up and I was off. This is a full service gym, and I cant recommend it highly enough, o, and there is an amazing cafe. Plus the atmosphere is friendly and inviting, very relaxed. I saw some gentlemen sitting in the cafe playing cards it has a welcoming atmosphere. If you are looking for an amazing gym at an amazing price, RUN to World Gym in Bay Shore!

Good gym with good equipment, racquetball courts and a newly installed turf training room. Mens locker room has warning of theft occurring so bring a lock or leave valuables at home.

Excellent facility, very clean. Steam,sauna, whirlpool,and pool. Well worth the cost of membership!

Great staff, great classes, great people, great gym! Some of the equipment is a little outdated so Ill give it a 4 out of 5 but if thats not your biggest concern its a great gym
