Being new to Maine, finding a new barber was nerve-racking as a femme queer person with a traditionally ‘masculine’ haircut. Called to make an appt. Good parking next to the shop. Walked in and was welcomed by a very nice greeting. The shop has a Modern-antique look. Very clean, warm and inviting. They were very professional and very skilled. Loved my skin fade and beard shape-up.Quick story... Im from out of town. Most of us have our favorite barber. Ive been here since January and have not gotten a haircut(shaggy). I couldnt take it anymore. I found Mainely Fades on Google. I took a chance. If it wasnt for the long drive from NC, I would give up my barber and come here every few weeks.April, I would give your shop 10 stars if I could. So, 5 stars, even though Bangor wont let you give customers a complimentary beer or glass of wine.

I’ve gone to Mainely Fades twice, the first time to fix a cut I got elsewhere and was unhappy with. April killed it both times. She keeps a clean shop with proper Covid precautions and listens to what I want while giving me choices on how to adapt reference photos to suit my hair. This is a locally owned small business I’m happy to support.

Moving to Maine, I had to find the hardest thing: a barber. I absolutely loved my first appointment with April, she listened to exactly what I wanted and delivered even better than I expected. Shes my new go to and I would recommend her to anyone.

April at Mainely Fades Barbershop is absolutely amazing! She is personable, professional, and also wonderful with kids cuts. Her hair cuts are the best I have ever had and she wants nothing more than everyone to love their cut. She finishes off with a straight shave that is amazing! Definitely recommend!!
