The gym’s really good, esp with it’s a “straight-to-the-point” atmosphere of focusing on serious work outs without judgment. People there are welcoming and helpful if you need it. (Whoever said this place was not welcome to liberals is dead wrong and good thing they are.) Whether you’re a first time gym-goer or a competitive bodybuilder, this gym is good and affordable if you’re there to work without the contract traps, hidden fees, or judgment from people who frown on shirtless guys practicing their posing between sets. Can it be cleaner? Of course it can. Can it be better ventilated and pump out cleaner water, esp during the summer? Absolutely. Hence the 4/5 stars, but the place has spirit and is ripe for becoming a thriving, yet affordable fitness community and deserves your consideration if you’re looking for a gym. And be willing to ask for help from people if you need it because the people here will give it if you’re willing to accept it.

I had to give this place 5 stars and if you see my reviews you’ll see I just don’t hand out 5 stars, you have to earn it. Every once and a while I come across something that I just want to keep to myself and this is one of those places. Today however you’re lucky I’m sharing it with you. When I look at all the gyms around this one offers something special, they have the old school feel with the modern equipment along with 24hr access. This gym also stand for something more. As I look at all these gyms and businesses folding, selling out, and abandoning reason, I can’t help but root for them. If you really want to help small businesses out and not see them shutdown due to government interference go support this gym & you won’t regret it. A beacon of hope in this side of town and even the city itself. This is a fear free zone. If you desire to live in fear this is not the place for you, go to planet fitness and I’ll gladly enjoy the space you won’t occupy here lol.

Has a good variety of equipment.Happy to see they are updating the sound system.Needs solar panels so they can have A/C.Has large fans but airflow is very limited.Members are respectful and dont sit at the same equipment to long.Bathrooms are in rough shape.Water fountains are also very old and damaged and the water comes out murky.They do give out one scoop of pre for free to members but money would be better spent on fixing the water fountains.

Gym seems like its run by someone who has never ran a business. While the equipment is fairly new, its covered in sweat and dust. There are only 2 treadmills and one of them has been broken for almost a year while the other throws out errors after 20 min of use. The mens bathroom is always atrocious. The hand air dryer hasnt been cleaned in months. Its best to go next door to Saltys BBQ if you need to use the bathroom.There is no air conditioning and is much hotter than outdoors. During the summer, its easily 100 degrees inside.The lobby has been under construction and hasnt seen any update in 6 months. The owner is not very friendly, and lacks communication and development of any type of relationship with its members.Now, some pros of the gym are that its open 24hrs a day which is convenient for those with a busy schedule. During business hours, towels and preworkout are handed out freely. Lifting belts as well as chalk are also available. Free weights are usually in there place, unlike commercial gyms. Even though the owner does not care to get to know or make its members feel welcome, the girl who is working at night makes sure to welcome everyone and knows most if not all people by name. Interestinly, since the gym is small it has developed a sort of community where lifters encourage each other and where friendships easily develop due to common interests. This is most likely why iron arms has acquired a high user review score and why people have developed a sort of loyalty to there gym and refuse to put it down.

Excellent Gym. Brand New Equipment And Well Maintained. Owner And Other Employees Are Very Helpful. There Is Free Preworkout Anytime And Other Cool Little Things. The Owner Is Also One OF The Best Personal Trainers In Bakersfield.

Just moved to Bakersfield from San Jose and found the perfect gym for me at least. Iron plates, squat and deadlift platforms, chalk, free pre-workout?! Count me in.

Okay the gym is great but the owner never cleans its a straight up germ box a few of my buddys go there and I did only reason we are waiting for in shape to open back up the owner treats people very odd not respectful other then that its a very small gym not very spaced out treadmills are oldish weights are good stair master was okay everything is mostly old boxing bag no point of having it could just replace that whole space with something else or at least adjust the thing to the right size only up side is the free pre workout over all Id say its a good spot untill you wait for in shape to open back up

Love this gym. Iron Arms has everything you need to get a good work out in, the environment is pretty laid back, 24 hour access is a plus, and the owner is also a great trainer, he is very knowledgeable, & has taught me what I know & still answers any questions I have.

Equipment is bent, damaged, cheap and not well maintained. What I believe was the owner has the most uninviting personality that wants to exchange as little words and do as little as he needs to to get your money. Don’t waste your money/time this “gym” is a joke.

This gym is what every gym should be! Its a workout gym, not look at me kind of gym. Bodybuilders best choice is this gym. Very respectful and courteous staff too.

Love the atmosphere. The loud music motivates me to work harder. The employees are very nice and helpful. I am sooo happy I signed up for this gym!

The owner is very personable. Month to month- no contract, cancel anytime. Tanning and towel service, with NO enrollment fee. $25 a month. Members get 24 hour access code. Cant beat this!

If youre in town and need a place to workout this is it. $5 for a day pass without any weird membership follow-ups (as in InShape or 24-HR). Bonus: Saltys is right next door!
