They were very nice and I felt comfortable with leaving my dog with them gave me perfectly clear after surgery instructions made sure that I understood everything

He wanted 320 dollars for a cat cold. The point I couldnt afford that, he couldnt do antibiotics unless I sign form waiving liability. Then it was only 130! He also thought my kitten that was just 8 weeks was 4 months old. The staff was nice. I left told them to bill me and went to real vet down street.

THIS PLACE HAD THEIR LICENSE REVOKED.Back in May, for over 25 violations, including at least one that resulted in somebodys dog having to be put down. DO NOT GO THERE.Took my cat in for an ear abscess, of the kind that another vet Id taken him to had charged around $400 for fixing up. They told me theyd have to put a catheter in, do a bunch of extra stuff, all of which added up to over $1100. I asked if theres anything I could do as a plan B, and they said no, this is what the doctor recommends. Thats a LOT of money, so I asked if there was any way they could trim it down to the absolute essentials. They said all of it was recommended by the doctor, but I could take off whatever I want. What could I take off safely?? I dont know, Im not a vet! Thats still a lot of money, so I asked if I could take him home and come back for the surgery tomorrow after I talked with my wife. They said yeah.I come back the next day, they say theyre booked for surgeries until Saturday, but they can give him some injections and/or medication. Why on earth didnt they say that when I asked if there was anything else I could do before? Ive got to assume $$$.Do not take your pets here.

They actually have a vaccine clinic open later in the day. I think its ridiculous that a vaccine clinic closes at 2pm. Working people have got to work!but this place is awesome! They can take your pet in right away and they all are so nice.

Highly recommend to NOT bring your pets here. We have brought our dog twice and the wait time is always over an hour to just get you in back room.Our recent visit our dogs back paw was inflamed and irritated. The doctor looked at his paw for literally 5 seconds and said he there could be something stuck in his paw and needs surgery. They quoted us $1200. Took him to another vet (Stiern) and they prescribed antiseptic wipes and antibiotics. They were very thorough with their check up and we saved a lot of money!

Our little poodle was in pain after a fall and they were able to make time for him when our regular vet couldnt see him for 5 days. They were so gentle with him and explained everything clearly to us. He is doing well now.

First of all, they charged more than I have ever been charged for vet service ever. I was grateful they could see my cat quickly since our regular vet was booked; however they then said we could bring him in the following morning for much needed surgery, but neglected to say we needed to schedule that. And then when we brought him in they couldn’t help our cat with an abscess on his head for two more days. But then they offered him injections that they had refused to offer the day before. They just wanted money for more services because they knew we would leave and have to take him somewhere else.I’ve seen reviews saying they charge for way more services than are necessary and I think that’s absolutely true! They are not helpful, not caring, and want to rip people off for caring for their animals.

This place took in our pup..said he had parvo(he didnt) charged my daughter 1700$ sent the dog home with no after care instructions..he was worse the few following days..took him elsewhere and he had a bowl blockage..Ithis place is terrible

I took my pet here on 1/31/2021 for what I believed to be an ear infection. I normally take her to Coffee Road Animal Hospital, but they didn’t have any openings. So, I called 4 Paws and they were able to get her in pretty quick. They asked that I show up early to fill out paperwork. I showed up 15 minutes early and called. They didn’t come out to get her until 2:10pm. Her appointment was at 2:00pm so I wasn’t too bad. Then I explained I believed she has an ear infection because her ears looked a little red and irritated.The vet tech took her to the back for an exam which was $49. They said they’d call me with the Doctors diagnosis and plan treatment. 30 minutes go by and I’m wondering why it’s taking so long for a simple ear exam. Then I finally get a call and am informed by the vet tech “the doctor believes she may have an ear infection”. And that the “Doctor believes it may be because she has some long hairs in her ear”. Then the fun part of the “treatment plan”.The Vet tech then explains all the recommendations the doctors is wanting for my pets treatment. She is a 5lb Yorker, so I’m thinking how bad can it be. She has also had an ear infection due to the long hairs before. She was simply prescribed an ear ointment for home application for 7 days. Well at 4 paws that is no the way they do things. They wanted to give her 2 injections, a cotton swab culture, 2 rounds of a “special” ear ointment, amoxicillin, and an ear cleaning. All for a grand total of $340. I’m all for taking care of my pet and giving her the best care I can. I also understand that a business needs money. But seriously $340 for a minor ear infection. After being told the doctor said she has “minor irritation” to her ears.I asked if all of this was necessary since her normal vet prescribed her the ear ointment and sent her home: the last time she had an ear infection. Apparently, all these medications and services are standard. The vet tech then told me it’s standard, and said I could decline any service or medication I didn’t want. Needless to say I won’t be going here ever again. They up-charge and try to sell you medication and services that are not necessary. Maybe the doctor shouldn’t worry so much about very penny he can get from you, and only recommend services or medications that are absolutely necessary.

I had a horrible experience. I had an appointment for 3 of my dogs just to get vaccinated and one of them to get their nails clipped. My appointment was at 11:30 which they confirmed with me 5 times. 3 calls and 2 text messages confirming. I figured when I got there they would be ready for my dogs. I arrived 3 minutes earlier then my appointment and I called to let them know I was there and they put me on hold. While another customer parked and tried to walk in (which they tell you to call when you arrived) they told her to wait and she went back out into the car. I am still on hold. They then take her pup who is (completely fine walking around and all) inside even though I was there first and I was still on hold. I know they do appointments by 30 mins and even if she had the same time appointment I was there first and followed directions. Finally someone picked up and checked me in I then waited another 30 minutes before calling them and telling then I have to be out by 12:30. The said they would have someone out soon. Then they call back 10 minutes later and want to ask me questions regarding my dogs health which I get but why was this not done before hand when I talked to them 5 different times. 3 before the appointment and 2 while waiting for them. She then tells me its going to be at least 45 minutes. When I told them multiple times I had to be out by 1230 and it was already 12:10 and they still have not came out to even see the dogs. I am beyond mad that I waisted my time when I had an appointment and they were late. She claimed they were short staffed but when I asked why someone who got here later then me went in before me she had no reply. The to try to make things better she said she would have 3 vet techs to help work on my 3 dogs. But how is this possible if they are short staffed? But told me it would still take 45 mins. If they would have taken me back when my appointment was or even 15 minutes after I could have had everything done but they waited over 45 minutes in my car with my dogs and then told me they wouldnt be done till after 12:45 when I told them 2 different times I needed to be out by 12:30. This was only for a total of 4 vaccinations.

I want to say I was very very please with a service I received. I am a very picky person about my dog. They try to make me feel as comfortable as possible. They let me stay in the Room as they put her to sleep for her surgery. They even let me go back to get her from the kennel when it was time for her to go home. They called 1st thing in the morning for a check up to make sure she was OK.

I had to have my cat put down and they were very caring and patient.

I went in spent over $400 they said it was mites and then my dog appeared to have more rashes through his body so nothing work they haven’t called for a testing i got in the beginning of the month do not recommend at all some staff are friendly but others give you a stink eye. Just horrible plus the owner had his license revoked because of a horrible vet that he his he this place just wants to rob you money blind don’t go please this place is just the absolute worst.

I used this facility about 10-15 yrs ago and at that time the tech who administered my dog at that time, BENT the needle causing my pet to cry. I stopped going because of that. Then after all these years and GOOD reviews I wanted to give them another try because they had very good hours and the reviews made me think newer staff were probably better trained. BIG MISTAKE!!Im sure the staff there have no agenda to harm any of the animals, but I dont think they are properly trained. I explained to the employee checking me in my dog was adopted from the animal shelter and had been abused and actually RETURNED twice. After giving this information she suggested I LEAVE my pet there Alone for several hours why they did her routine check up and blood work..this wasnt happening. Then when they took her to do the blood work while I waited, they returned her with her neck BLEEDING from the needle and didnt even stop the bleeding or tell me what had happened. I will never use nor suggest this location to anybody.

I have been to several vets here in Bakersfield, and seemed to me that they just never did enough for my pet and always rushed us out. Ray can be aggressive when hes scared or uncomfortable. 4 Paws Pet hospital has always been friendly, kind, and patient with my 4 legged son Ray. We keep bringing ray back here anytime he needs something done. I love how they call me and keep me updated on his procedures. Also, if i keep calling just to see how he is doing. They are always polite and patient with me as well and answer all my questions. Everyone in that office really truly loves what they do, and I cant be any happier knowing my ray is well taken care of when he is brought here.

Took our toy poodle in with complications from Paraphimosis. Surgery was necessary & though the pricing seemed high at the beginning, with all the care our pet received, we understood the cost at the end. Dr did not release him to us until he absolutely knew he was better. The staff called us with updates every step of the way...Every morning & evening they called and assured us of his progress. When we picked him up, all the aftercare was carefully explained & medications came with easy to follow instructions. Overall, excellent service from Dr & staff. Everyone appeared to truly care for our pet & were friendly every time I had contact with them.

Took my doodle to be examined for possible foxtails in his paws, the nurse advised us that they’ll call us after being examined. Keep in mind when we dropped off Milo, he had bandage wrap around his paws since we have been washing, disinfecting and wrapping them everyday, 2 times a day.Literally within 15 minutes after dropping him off, we received a call that of course “Milo has foxtails”. The receptionist explains that Milo will be needing blood work, anesthesia medication and etc., with a total of $1,012 payment.Once picking up Milo from the clinic, we noticed that his bandage wraps have not been removed at all meaning Dr. Sandu (doctor provided by receptionist) did not examine Milo’s paws.At this point, we were upset.Deciding to call the clinic once again, receptionist kindly stated that by assuming of what we had stated to them, they were just going to “take our word” and go ahead with a procedure.As we explained to manager at this time, the whole point for him to get examined is for them to check his paws to see what the problem was.Manager confirmed that they did not remove the bandages due to not wanting to “hurt” Milo. Mind you, Milo is still clearly walking on his paws but has a limp.Manager then stated she would refund for the inconvenience, in which we confirmed that wasn’t the point of the conversation..Overall, the point was that at this clinic it was clear they did not have the best interest for Milo to even give him the time to check his paws but to wait and start the procedure of sedating him and automatically wanting to charge us or they say “putting on credit”.I understand at times an emergency is an emergency, but if you decide to take you dog or any pet, please check your pets.Hope this helps.

Koko ( fur baby ) was attacked by my pit . I called and they where so caring . After calling many places due to the pandemic I felt like no one wanted to help . I was schedule to bring her in . It turned out she’s pregnant but they where able to put staples because of her pregnancy. They washed her wounds up and put her on antibiotics. The whole team was very caring . The price here is Amazing . That military discount it’s whats up as well . God Bless and stay safe .

Prices are expensive I found a product they sold me for $40.00 and on Amazon cost was $6.00 I get they want or need to markup products but come on.....I was not able to go in with my pet because of COVID and losing the opportunity to speak to actual vet and ask questions makes it feel weird...It’s just a bit confusing and expensive my experience.

This place is extremely unprofessional and does not provide good patient care. I was asking the staff about why my dog was getting another test when they haven’t done one In the past. Their response was to simply not give me a clear response and simply tell me that my dog was on their own and they would not be approving the medications that they needed. The previous time I brought my dog in there to be serviced they left welts on her back and she was skittish for days afterwards. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, unsurprisingly they were completely inadequate. This place should be investigated.Unlike what the response below says, I did bring up the welts. However, they simply said “sounds like you need to find a new vet”

We were at our nephews funeral. 💔 After his send off, there was a lady that looked like she was having a hard time, dragging two baby puppies across the street. Literally dragging. The pups were dehydrated and the nails are worn down to almost nothing. They were crying and yelping. So a lot of people from the funeral crowd talked the lady into selling them to us after doing a crowd fundraiser. 4 Paws in Bakersfield got us in within an hour, tested them both for parvo, cleaned their ears, gave them their first vaccine, a bath and a clean bill of health. 🥰🥰4 Paws Pet Hospital Staff are caring and professional. I Highly recommend them for any fur kid.We live in Reno, NV otherwise 4 Paws would be our regular vet.. 🥰💖

Ive seen alot of reviews that say their pricing is outrageous and to me it seems that those people have never been to some of the other vets in bakersfield! I called 15 vets in Bakersfield today before I found this last place to call .Due to the holiday all places were either closed or halfday. Anyhow, I took the 12pm slot given for my cat that woke up with an abscess on his cheek, was very thankful they took him in. As far as friendliness and being helpful the staff was very much so. However, to lance a pus pocket and give antibiotics, they mentioned so many itemized things that needed done and truly...I felt was unnecessary. . the total was $898.00!!! Quoted. I had to decline and just settle for meds.lots of non related things were being recommended..I just would have rather kept it simple...I truly do not like the fact that you cant go inside with your pet either. How scary!

I want to thank the doctors at 4 PAWS HOSPITAL for taking the time to evaluate my son Ray. Ive been to several vets before and none compare to 4 Paws. I loved the attention and love and care my son received from the staff and doctors. I highly recommend their services. Ray was in for a skinny issue, ear infection and neutering. Ray is doing amazing and has since been to his 1 week follow up. I will continue to take my son Ray to them in any future case. Thank You once again!

Are you interested in your pets comfort and acceptable veterinarian practices or on spending money? Keep in mind a vet makes a killing on overnight care and it is not always necessary. The best place for a dog to heal is at home with their owner. You will be emotional and desperate. Take someone with you that can think logically.

Staff was pretty friendly, but be careful with their bait and switch tactics. Was given a quote over the phone for vaccines and once the pups were in the facility the price jumped by about $20. Get confirmation of the prices before releasing your pets to the staff.**update** was scheduled to get the 2nd round of vaccines at 4 paws and was told it would be the same price as the 1st round...called over to BVH and it was a 1/3 of the price....will probably be taking our pups there from now on.

Everything was perfect. The doctors and nurses were nice and caring with my dog before and after surgery. I felt safe to have my dog in their care.

I am very disappointed with this vet. I had been a loyal customer for years, but the last couple of times I have been there or interacted with the staff there I have not been happy, and unfortunately am no longer going back. I feel that they now try to gouge and require services that are not necessary, and they refuse to be of any help over the phone. When I asked multiple times to talk with the doctor directly my message was either not given to him, or he felt it was beneath him to call a patient back. I’ve also recently heard that there are some malpractice concerns, so even more reason to not use this vet.

4 PAWS PET HOSPITAL is currently running a pandemic special where when you make an appt to get your cat spayed, theyll cancel day before and reschedule a week later... So that way when you show up for the new appt, they can add on extra charges because your cat is now in heat, even though she wouldnt have been in heat had they just kept the agreed upon appointment.Also be sure to bring this to their attention so that they can callously respond with well you signed the paperwork and then threaten to take you to collections for simply inquiring about the bill.0/5 ⭐Tips to improve...1) Hire a manager (not named Amy) with even an ounce of customer service skills, compassion, and understanding. Yes you run a business and should treat it as such, but youre also in the hospitality field and should definitely behave as such. Getting disrespectful, combative and threatening collections agencies on a customer merely raising questions about their bill after an issue YOU created is astoundingly unprofessional.* Not scam the customers during a pandemic who are vulnerable and concerned for their pets by adding charges that are unnecessary.* Read your negative reviews here and address them.. They could help you become a better business. Youre widely known in the area as by far the shadiest pet hospital and I wish that upset you more.

I’ve taken my pit here about 3-4 times and each time my pup has not gotten better. My pit started to become very itchy and losing patches of hair, we took her in to get tests and a female vet told us she has allergies. We took the necessary medications and it only helped for about a month then she got worse. I took her back and asked to get a test done to see what allergies she had and they ended up do a test that ONLY TELLS ME SHE HAS ALLERGIES not what she’s allergic to. So there went $500+ On an INCORRECT TEST. The male vet who I spoke to about this was very rude and said the manager would call me about getting my money back and 2 months later I haven’t heard from the manager and my pup is as worse as ever. I went in this week to get her treated and they didn’t look at any of her previous records and recommended I get the allergies test again but it would be $600. I keep requesting to speak to someone in charge and they say the manager won’t be in for 2WEEKS! How do you treat customers this way? How do you not come into your business for this long? There are animals in so much pain and they do little to nothing to help. I will be reporting them but this is ridiculous. Complete negligence on their side!!

Considering we are in the middle of a quarantine and the fact that they were still open for curbside drop appointments is absolutely amazing. It is very much appreciated. There is nothing that could of been done better in this situation. The staff was absolutely amazing and took great care of my old boy.

I took my German Shepard in because he had an irritated eye and I got a bill for $997.00 for the work they wanted to perform . I told them I could not afford that and to only do the necessary actions to take care of the eye the doctor repeatedly said no that he had to perform bloodwork eye dye test put in a catheter put him to sleep in order to check his eye and the medication . I called back just to find out nothing was in his eye and all that work and money for nothing . All the doctor wanted was money literally robing people blind. I wonder if they even performed any one of the procedures that they billed me for or just kept him in a cage over night . Well I’ll Never know . I’ve taken a lot of my animals I’ve rescued there . They just lost a good customer. Worst service ever!

I had a seriously injured cat, and my regular vet was already double-booked, so I called around and was able to get into 4Paws. From start to finish, I was assisted with attentiveness and compassion, whether it was the front office staff, or the techs and Dr. I was kept updated, was listened to, and actively included on the treatment plan. Was a great experience! My boy was having problems with his foot and biting his private area and was worried. Took him in to be seen and great place squeezed me in even though they were booked. Since having a steroid shot and being put on allergy medication it has helped my boy so much and hes back to being his happy go lucky self

This place is an absolute disaster. The manager has horrible customer service and is incredibly defensive as soon as you have something to say. Not to mention, they have a malpractice suit!!!I have read so many other reviews about them mistreating/misdiagnosing animals.IF YOU LOVE YOUR ANIMALS PELASE DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE.

We took our puppy there to be spayed, and I made an appointment a week early. Then the night before our appointment they call to cancel. So I have to reschedule. For her appointment, they have spay/neuter patients stay the night. The next morning they are supposed to call and tell you to come get the dog. The next morning they called and asked how my dog was doing because they thought she was picked up the day before. Absolutely incompetent staff with clerical errors that make me concerned about the services my pet received.Just an update, we picked up our dog, and she walked out in bandages because they had restrained her by grabbing in the spot where her sutures were which caused her to start bleeding again. Then when we got her home, we took a bandage off of her leg, and the catheter was still in her vein and attached with bloodied bandages.We are now taking our dog to a different vet to have the catheter removed, and they will be evaluating her sutures and the spot of her surgery.I would never recommend 4 paws to anyone. If I could rate them lower than 1 Star, I would.

I appreciated how helpful the staff was in making an appointment that worked with our schedule. My chihuahua has major dental work done. He was very well taken care of. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful. They called to make sure he was doing well the next morning. All of our dogs have been switched to this office.

I Loved this veterinary clinic the staff is so friendly my pitbull Duke went in for surgery he was there for three days the staff would call me every morning and afternoon to let me know how he was doing. When I had questions for the staff the actual Dr called me. When my baby finally came home the staff called me to check how he was doing I also got a txt message to remind me if his next appointment. I could not be happier with the choice I made to take him to 4 paws Clinic.

Our 2 year old dog cut her foot. This clinic got us an appointment immediately and the staff were pleasant and professional. They kept us informed about her surgery and discharge plan. She was ready when we arrived. She is doing very well at home.

Staff are so nice and competent. I had my dog since he was 2 months old and we have been to a lot of vets/ pet hospitals and I can say that this is the best place ever. My dog is so spoiled rotten and he could be very irritated especially when he is in pain but they did a good job on him. Thank you! I salute the staff of this hospital amidst this COVID thing. I was a panicked mama when my dear Layla began to loose an extreme amount of weight and was not being her crazy loving self. I literally called every vet in town, no one was willing to see her on short notice, they all scheduled for a week out. The hospitals were just completely out of my budget wanting 6 grand from the jump to keep her and run test not even knowing what was wrong with her yet. Finally I contacted 4 Paws. Nearly crying on phone at this point, the receptionist kindly reassured me that it would be ok they can see her as soon as I can get her down there. Relieved I left work grabbed my babygirl and took her as fast as I could to the office. The staff was great. I honestly felt my girl was in great hands. She stood for 3 nights and when she came home she was bubbly and happy and back to her crazy self. I absolutely recommend. Thank you 4 paws for all of your help.

Horrible me and my sister took my dog there and they diagnosed my dogs sickness one at a time in the end she died we took her to a different animal hospital just before her death turns out she had all sorts of sicknesses at the same time but the day before that day we took her to 4 paws hospital because she was having seizures and they didnt do anything about it so not professional they just want we spent over $2,000 on this hospital we deserve a refund

Have been waiting 3 months for my cats blood test results and they still want to make me wait another 24 to 48 hours. Theyve had 3 months to disclose this info to me and now that I need it they said they cant give it to me. Extremely unprofessional.

PLEASE READ Dr. Sandhu is on probation for MALPRACTICE. Read the news articles. He is still allowed to practice but hasnt done any of the necessary steps to comply with the Veterinary Medical Board. My beloved family cat was very sick when I brought him in to see Dr. Sandhu. He seemed to be doing better until I prescribed him the medication Dr. Sandhu gave and DIED THAT NIGHT. It was heart breaking. There are similar stories online about his malpractice. Please please please dont take your animals here. The doctor is corrupt and unskilled. The place really shouldnt be open. All the workers are kind and great but dont trust Dr. Sandhu with your animals :(

Cost me $85 for nothing. Rudy drank used auto oil. Vet only looked at him and told assistant to put him in kennel. No assessment by vet. Assistant was more helpful, told me what to do for Rudy. Had to pay $85 to release dog to come home.

Has to take my dog in due to a growth bleeding. He had to have surgery and the vet and staff were very helpful in explaining what needed to be done and a breakdown of costs. Applying for different options was easy and they exceeded my expectations with the surgery my making sure every growth he had emerging on his chest was removed.

I just adopted a shelter dog from kern animal shelter and he had an issue so I took him into 4 paws to get a wellness check. The said they we sure without a doubt it was distemper (which is deadly I dogs) and charged us $315 for tests. I took my pup back to she shelter in which they ran some tests and showed me the results. My dog had an upper respiratory infection and indeed it was NOT Distemper. This is a horrible vet to take your dog too, especially if they know you adopted them. I should get my money back for the stress this vet put on me and the misdiagnosis.

Im not sure how this Vet Hospital has managed to get as many positive reviews as it has but based on my recent experience, 1 star is actually quite generous. I took my 2 year old boxer dog in because he was unable to keep any food down for several days. The Vet was noticeably afraid to touch or go near my dog (who is not aggressive and has never even tried to bite anyone). He refused to perform exam until a muzzle was placed on my dog & Im not sure why he even bothered considering he only touched the dog ever so slightly with his fingertips. Based on this 15 second exam, his suggestion was as follows: perform bloodwork, take x-rays of abdominal area, send x-rays for professional review, antibiotic injection, and overnight stay to administer IV fluids... for a minimum estimate of $1,200.00. Against my better judgment I allowed them to perform bloodwork, give injection and was sent home with 3 medications to give at home since I wasnt comfortable with overnight stay. The nearly $400.00 I spent was a complete waste as my dog was still sick as ever. Two days later I took him to Bakersfield Veterinary Hospital where he was treated by Dr. Alvarado. There arent enough kind words to say about the entire staff at Bakersfield Veterinary Hospital.. do yourself and your pet a favor and check them out before you waste your time & money at 4 Paws.

My dog started showing blood in her urine 3 days ago and before this she was fine. But now she cant seem to hold herself for more than 4 or 5 hours. However, she is tetraplegic and in a wheelchair, so taking her for a walk to pee is an ordeal if I have to do this 6 or more times a day as opposed to three.I had all of her extensive records faxed over two days prior, so they had a complete history on her. After seeing her, the assistant came outside with a battery of tests totaling more than $850 and said the doctor couldnt move forward without doing these tests first. The most expensive being $298 for a urine culture. Really, $298 for a urine culture? And the need for a blood panel seemed unnecessary to me as she had a complete blood panel less than 6 months prior.Considering that even if I could afford $850 on the spot before any treatment, at best she wouldnt receive any treatment until the tests came back from 3rd party labs days later; and then I would have to make an appointment based upon my ability to transport her again.So I asked if I could please take antibiotic home and this way she could begin some treatment, and if it is (as most likely) a bladder or UTI, then we wouldnt even need the tests and she would receive relief now instead of a week or more later.The doctor said no as he said he had to do the blood work first to check her liver and kidney function. o I mentioned again to look at her extensive records and the full blood panel done on her 6 months ago. How many blood panels does a dog need every year? two, three, more?So I asked again after 30 more minutes had passed. The doctor said no.As for my cat, she needed a full exam, her vaccines, and a nail trim. They brought out the cost and it was $359. Ive never had to pay this for an exam and vaccines in my cats life, and my last vet provided exceptional care for all my pets at a fraction of the cost; including my dogs spinal aneurysm which left her paralyzed and in a wheelchair.So the only that was accomplished for my $90 fee to the doctor was my dogs from nails trimmed; which I could have easily done myself. Im sad I had to give them anything as my two lovely pets are in the exact same condition today as they were yesterday, and I have no way to get back to any vet before I can borrow a car next weekend. It was a complete waste of time and money, not to mention my dogs health is still at risk.One more thing... While I was there, a lovely family came with their dog who could hardly walk as she had hip cancer. They were all incredibly sad so I asked how their dog was. Unfortunately they were there to euthanize and say goodbye to their 4 legged family member. But then 30 minutes later they came outside with their dog. I was surprised to see her, but then then told me that as they were preparing the shots inside, the doctor realized that he didnt have all of the drugs to euthanize her. I find this inexcusable. The poor dog is in horrible pain and wont eat, and the family now has to wait until the doctor orders and receives the drugs to euthanize; if the dog lives long enough without eating and drinking already for 3 days as they told me. Not to mention the emotional rollercoaster they have to continue on until their pet either passes due to dehydration andor nutrition or the doctor receives the necessary drugs to euthanize and make the appointment. And they dont know if all of them can even be present for the next scheduled appointment; whenever that might be.I would never take any of my pets to this vet under any condition, nor would I recommend anyone who loves their pet to do so.

My dog, Goliath, was very sick and they were able to get him an appointment on a short notice. Although we didnt have much money to pay for his treatment, the staff managed to work something out to get him the best help possible. Without them I wouldve lost my dog and I will always be grateful for that. Goliath is back to being his old happy self.

The staff is always so nice and helpful! The doctor is great and he figured out what was wrong with one of my dogs when another vet couldn’t figure it out. He’s very knowledgeable and great with my dogs. I highly recommend 4Paws to take care of your animal needs!

Im in agreement with someone else who said if they could give no stars they would.. I have NEVER left a Yelp review.. I downloaded it just for this comment...The experience I had today was horrible.. they were so UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE...our last appointment was left in good terms which is why we came back-its also important to note that on our last visit they wanted to do blood work and a urinalysis on our dog, we declined and just asked for antibiotics, THEY TOLD US that if they didnt work we could come back JUST for the urinalysis which is $65 and blood work which is $123.18, for a grand total of $188.18 and that another office exam would NOT be necessary.. fast forward, the antibiotics didnt work so we made an appointment and REITERATED that it would be just the urinalysis and blood work and they agreed.. we get there and remind them AGAIN and we got a verbal agreement.. now the appointment usually takes about an hour or so.. we waited for almost 2 hours before we finally called them to ask for an update, they said it would be another hour as they were waiting for him to pee...(NEVER heard that before.. they have ways to extract urine...) we said ok. We left to go home as I had to go to work. Halfway there my mom gets a call, she places it on speaker and they are explaining about xrays, hospitalization, IV fluids, and medication, and said it would be $1200!! Im thinking WHAT did they find?? Whats wrong with our dog? So we ask what is this for? And they say it depends on what we find...but this is what the doctor recommends.. and we say based on what?? Have they gotten the results back from anything? And they say No, they hadnt...!!! and they said we could decline and we did of course since they had no medical reason yet not to. Then she says the total will be $405.. we said for what? They said for the blood work, urinalysis, office exam, and medication. WAIT we had already made it clear what we wanted done, and from THEIR end they told us that we only needed the first 2. And again.. NO results have come back yet so WHAT is the medication for??? To shorten this up, we picked up our dog and spoke to them in person, albeit very upset after all this and the receptionist answered the phone AS we were talking and didnt say excuse me or anything nor did she put them on hold, the other person in the office had to pick up the conversation with us.. throughout this whole process we never received an apology nothing about how inconvenient it was nothing about their mistake.. they were rude and unprofessional and mishandled the entire situation.. and we never got a call from their supervisor to straighten it out.. of course. after working in customer service myself for 10+ years... this was HORRIBLE service... all they tried to do was take more and more money with NO basis... I wish I had read the reviews before going.. I see I am not the only one star review and I probably wont be the last...

I’ve been to a few vets in Bakersfield and this place is by far the best. My dog had Pyometra. They diagnosed her and rushed her into surgery within an hour of me being there. They saved my dogs life and I can’t thank them enough. The staff has been very friendly and truly care about your animal. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thank you again!

Dog got hit by a car. Pd $1700. Went for a follow up today was told they would put a splint on and do another X-ray. Today nothing was done they wanted another $300. They never told me that. Btw $1700 was for X-ray and a wrap no cast just a wrap. Never ever go back the place is a joke and all abt $ and not the animal

Super friendly and professional staff! The doctor was very gentle with my 75lb German Shepherd/Rottweiler baby who was in a lot of pain. I was able to get a same day appointment with no problem. It’s nice to receive quality care without paying a fortune! I’m so glad I found this place!

4 Paws Pet Hospital is a very underrated vet in my opinion. Sure, lots of people mightve had quote on quote negative experiences but everyone will complain about every little thing, even if its an honest mistake that wont be made next time. They treated my cat Juneau with much respect and care, all the staff is extremely friendly, they answered all my questions professionally, like they should, and no problems ever arose for me while taking my cat there. This is a really good place, and if you dont like it, just take your pet somewhere else, its simple really 🤷 but they truly do take care of your pet with the utmost respect and I do recommended taking your pet here for their needs. They also tend to be very quick and dont make you wait long 😁

Oh wow i came twice to this place and they are always trying to get more money making exams and just adding things to charge more to the price. So disappointed...

It is not ok what this vet does. They try to rack up your tab with unnecessary tests. The initial consultation is a joke. They do not even look at your dog and already want to run labs without any basis. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.

You guys were able to fit Squirt in for an appt. right away when he was having seizures and it was much appreciated. We have been able to get him back on formula,water, electrolytes, and kitten food and he is back to normal! Thank you so much! He hasnt had another seizure since that day!

I took my sweet lab pup in for parvo when she was around 6-7 weeks old. They saved her life. I am forever grateful. I was able to call every hour just to see how she was doing. The staff is so very helpful and kind and caring. She is now a spunky 10 month old and is back here right now getting fixed.My sister also took her pup here to get all shots and fixed and had a great experience. Thank you 4 paws pet hospital for doing everything you can to care for our fur babies.

Crew in office was extremely considerate and compassionate in dealing with our friend and pet. They were the best.And received a most wonderful card in the mail, the following week.

The only reason Im giving it one star is because the girls there are really nice and its not their fault that they work for someone who charges outrageous prices! Recently I had to put one of my old girls down and they charged me $345. Three weeks ago I had to put my other old friend down. This time I checked around and found Cookes Veterinarian, they charged me only $78 for the shot and cremation. So just beware. Im still wondering what else they overcharged me for!

While walking my dog two of he’s front paw nail got caught somewhere. He was bleeding a lot and we can tell he was in pain.Our normal clinic is located In the east side and we live in the south west.My lady’s sister takes her dog to 4 paws veterinary and recommend this place, so we took him in.The font person wasn’t too friendly and immediately I had a bad feeling about leaving my dog there if I had too.We where told that the visit is normally $40.00 dollars but since our dog has two broken nails it was going to be $80.00. I guess they figured we are in need! Why not double the visit cost. So I said screw this place took my dog to the regular veterinary on the East side.
