I always enjoy going canoeing at this place. The Rowing Dock gives you that camping feel with its vibe and style. Service is always cheerful and eager to assist. Once in the water you are nicely distanced to reach varied landmarks(bridge, different park sites, etc). Definitely a place to go for a day or hour on the water.
Loved my first visit here & how friendly the whole staff was. Everyone was knowledgeable and gave great tips since this was our first time kayaking. I loved that as soon as we pulled up to the dock, the girl that helped us back up asked how we liked our visit & it was soo genuine & kind of her to make us feel like more than just customers. Next time Im in Austin, Ill be sure to go back to Rowing Dock! Great experience 👏🙌😊
Easy to get a rental, great friendly staff, fast service. My boyfriend and I were on our way home from San Antonio to Austin to Houston and decided to be spontaneous and try a canoeing and we never tried it before. This place made our first experience great, we loved it and cant wait to come back to Austin and do this again!! Thanks ladies for yall help!
Still actively requires mask. Even as an entirely outdoors operation 😂Edit: Other places put up a sign and let people be.Your establishment nagged about it at four separate points, including once where your employee wouldnt give me back my property until I did your song and dance.Hide behind the mandate all you want, other places have more respect for their customers.
Cool place to rent a canoe or kayak to set sail in lake ladybird, Colorado River. We tried this activity for the first time and it was really enjoyable. We kayaked for an hour and definitely want to try it again! We had our 2.5 year old with us and it was fun!
Great rates and service. Helpful, friendly staff. Would’ve gotten 5 ⭐️ but no place that makes masks mandatory is getting 5 stars from me.
Ive rented kayaks from a lot of different places, but Rowing Dock selection of kayaks have to be the best!We arrived at 11ish on Sunday in July. The wait to get processed and get a boat was not too bad.The best place to park is under the overpass across from the Zikler Park Botanical Gardens. Its a short walk away.
My car was broken into amongst other vehicles in the span of 1 hr and the facility failed to make it aware to customers who are unable to park in the parking lot. They are well aware of this ongoing issue and for people who aren’t locals, we would not have this knowledge. Vehicles are not safe here however the activities were fun. The least u can do is hire security guards to monitor along street.
We hosted a corporate outing here and the whole process and experience was wonderful. Tristian was great, checked in with us often and the private picnic area was a great spot for us to hang before and after our paddle.
This is the perfect launching dock for paddle boards and kayaks. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and safety oriented. This is great way to enjoy the outdoors on the water with a beautiful view of the city. Have fun in the sun and take a dip to cool off.💦🚣💚
The highlight of our vacation was kayaking for the very first time and the experience was worth it! Rowing Dock made sure everyone was safe with the mask protocol and it was cheap to kayak for an hour! Definitely will come back with friends and enjoy another great time on the river!
Fantastic place. Went on the Saturday Bat Trip with Steve as our guide. Great way to see the bats and the city skyline. Steve was very informative and made the trip a great experience.
Great experience. Very affordable. Took one of the guided tours so I would have an objective while kayaking. I would 10/10 recommend. Kennady, my tour guide, was fantastic. Her knowledge and interpretive skills of both kayaking and the area made the experience that much better. Thanks!
5 of 5 stars for family entertainment. Renting a paddle board or kayak is a lot of fun and a good work out on this peaceful lake. Crowds can be extensive, but you never really feel crowded, unless you are trying to park. My body groans when I try to kneel or squat, and the staff accommodates me every time with help me getting into and out of the kayak. If your knees complain, then getting out in the lake and paddling is a good alternative to walking/hiking
Everytime I come here I always have a more than fantastic experience! While the facilities are of good quality in and of itself, and the location on ladybird lake is impeccable, the ultimate reason for the continual positive experience are the staff that run the place. Most recently, a girl named Ella Burnett was as happy to help us get our kayak as we were being there. The joyful attitude and conversational spirit only added to our day. When we got back, Ella remembered our conversation and helped us out with a smile:) Ill DEFINITELY be returning whenever I have a day off or family is in town. Cheers for the time, Rowing Dock!
Always easy to get a nice workout here by kayak or canoe. We came early so it wasnt crowded at all. They also have pedal kayaks in case you dont want to wear out your arms.
Price is better than the other place by Barton Springs so its the service. Very friendly customer service and the girls have your kayak ready promptly. We were able to rent pedal kayaks which was great for us since I had brought my own pedal kayak. Well definitely rent again. We can beyond our 2 hours and she only charged the incremental charge instead of a whole hour extra. Highly recommended and will be back.
Ah man. I loved kayaking here. The kayaks one rented are well taken care of. The price for renting an all day kayak is absolutely reasonable. The water is calm and easy to paddle and the sites of the city of Austin, the neighboring park, the mansions over hanging the lake are just so cool. It is very rare you are able to kayak in a place like this with so many different site angles. Staff here were very friendly too. Oh yeah...ample parking too. I am definitely taking a whole day there the next time I am in the Austin area.
There is some parking here. Had all the equipment for a double kayak trip. Employees were nice but didnt explain a lot. Not new to kayaking but wanted more on the area and if there were any neat places to go while on the lake.
They are efficient, well staffed, friendly, and always have watercraft available no matter how packed it is. One challenge: not easy to find a parking spot super close. I recommend parking under the bridge and walking.
I have been going there and would definitely recommend it. But can someone tell me the girls name who works there, was wearing green and was wearing a nose ring on 7/25😬 If you are reading this, I was completely flattered looking at you and wasn’t able to talk to you😅 Can we go on a date someday maybe🤪
Excellent service, very friendly people. Price isnt outrageous. Make sure you fill out the paperwork at the parking lot before getting to the counter, and have your ID - theyll hold it till you get back. Have FUN!!!
I had one of the best time on this river. There was people from all works of life having fun and the staff are friendly teaching people who are newcomers to paddle the canoe. If anyone around the Austin area or visiting need to have fun I would recommend Rowing Dock.
What a blast! Absolutely loved this place! Everyone was really helpful and caring. I came a bit before 9am on Sunday and it worked perfect. As we were coming back at 10:30am the lines were FULL! Definitely recommend coming early. Great prices, they don’t offer military discount on weekends. I used the SUP and it was so much fun.
Amazing tour! Our guides were fun and engaging. Gave us lots of historical facts about the city. Guided us smoothly through to a fab spot to see the bats. Safe, fun, informative!
Tori and Nolan took the time to make sure our family was safe and comfortable during our kayak trip. They were both so friendly and kind while also being knowledgeable and professional. I would highly recommend booking a group tour with them. It was a wonderful activity!
Great place! Staff is very nice. Cant get super hot in the afternoons especially if theres no wind. Mornings are perfect!!
Came here a few weeks ago and it was nice! I came with a friend and it was both our first time kayaking, and the front desk(?) staff were very nice and helpful in explaining the basics to us and were very kind when we were finally checking out and about to leave. However, I docked off a star because the young man who helped us get into the kayaks was very rude to my friend for not speaking English very well (she is an exchange student and was having some trouble understanding him) and he seemed to not want to be there and was very impatient with her; it kind of made me a little disappointed. Other than that though, because of the other staff it was a very nice time and a lot more relaxing than I thought it would be once we got it down!
Top notch for what it is. I like that if you stay our linger they just pro rate your charge. No obligation to hurry back.
We had a lot of fun canoeing, the staff was friendly and helpful, they canoes were well kept up, they provided life vests and you can also rent plastic bags to keep your electronics safe.
Place has good prices but the customer service is awful! I’ve visited twice thinking the first time was just whatever but the second time everyone was just as rude, not only to the customers but to the other staff. Lots of sass from the employees. Go if you want something cheap. FYI there are many places to kayak just a little further down which is what my friends and I will be doing from now on. Hope this helps.
Went here the other day with a few a friends and had a great time. The parkings a little sketchy, but theyve got snowcones. The staff were all super nice, i was helped out by shaley, rented a sup, and had a great time. Would recommend to anyone, maybe go early so its not super packed.
We had an amazing time ! Super friendly, warm and attentive staff. The late 7:45pm rental attracted us to your location. We highly recommend this to our friends and will be back :-)
Josh was a super guide! He went over and beyond! My niece had an unforgettable, amazing time… one that she will always treasure…
Seemed great at first, until a piece of my kayak broke (I had a pedal kayak and the steering knob came off) and we got back a little bit late to find out that the unnamed late fees amounted to hundreds of dollars for about an hour. Id recommend renting a kayak from any of the many other establishments that offer this.
Great time, decent kyayks, definitely recommend for anyone visiting austin to truly enjoy the lake. Love that its on the quieter end of the lake. Recommend getting there early tho, they get pretty busy.
The kayak bat tour is a must if youre visiting Austin for the first time. I had never kayaked before and had lots of fun. Laysa and Tori were awesome and did an excellent job of giving interesting insights about the surroundings and the bats and checking on everyone in the group.
Great experience for first timer... But unfortunately my phone Fell down the river at the dock just trying to get off. I was giving a number to hire a {150$} Scuba diver(Robert) to retrieve it But once he got here it wasn’t there anymore.. Another Scuba diver took it before he got here.Really wanting my phone back (Blue-iPhone 12 pro max Black otter box)
Nice time, nice people, economical way to spend and have good timeI like it
Rowing Boats port is located on the side of Lady Bird lake and you get a wonderful view of the citys skyline paddling east. We were a group of four people and never kayaked before. So instead of renting a kayak to try to figure it out ourselves, we reserved spots for the guided tour. This was TOTALLY worth it!! Our guide Josh was outstanding, very helpful without being pushy or overly nosy. He made us feel comfortable and navigated us down Lady Bird to Barton Springs, telling us some cool facts about Austins sights here and there. He didnt rush us and let us take our time to paddle and converse with each other freely. Typically with tours, you feel forced to stay quiet and listen closely to the guide. But Josh was super cool and laid back, letting us do what we wanted under the comfort of knowing hell be there to assist us with kayaking if needed. The tour was two hours long (we reserved 8am to 10am, best time to kayak tbh), which was plenty of time to take pictures and experience kayaking. I highly recommend renting from here and shoutout to Josh!! You deserve the best tips 🤟
Super. I live in south Austin but this was the first time Ive rented here. Went today for @blackaustintours Roll Colorado Roll kayak tour which was stellar. Love that theyre not only cool but also supporting our community in learning more about Austin & black history.
This was our first time ever. Inexpensive fun for the family. We really enjoyed it.
This was so much fun! We rented 2 paddle boards for an hour. We would’ve gone for more than one hour but we got there late... be sure to get there at least 80 minutes before they close so you can at least get one hour of time in the water. We got lucky and we were the last customers for the day, then they closed the gate. Keep in mind that if the business hours says they close at 8 it really means they close at 7. So don’t wait until the last minute! However, we still had a ton of fun... One hour is better than 0 hours!
We had a blast! We rented stand up paddle boards for an hour and it was a great activity. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We’ll be back!
PFD (personal floatation device) stinks. They require masks. Really? I would givezero star. But 1 star is given because the dock handlers were efficient and friendly.
My group got there in the late morning on a Saturday so there was a small wait but the rental is a great value. So are the items they have for purchase at the dock.
A bit pricey but the staff is always nice and there is a public dock to launch your own paddle board
Went to have a fun day with my family, staff especially a girl named nicole, was so nice and helpful. Would recommend to anyone visiting the Austin area.
Really nice experience. Gab was extremely kind and helpful. Beginner friendly.
Had such a great time with my boyfriend! Only $20 to kayak around on the lake. Very relaxing, we fell asleep on the kayak lol! The employers were chill and very strict on the mask requirements! Love it! Keeping everyone safe. Also it’s kid and pet friendly!
Always the best kayaking spot. Not just cuz of great employees like Laysa, but because of the perfect location. Def recommend this business over any of its competitors.
Very nice place and easy to book. Had amazing time kayaking with my wife.Enough parking.
Great place to do Kayaking, which is fun and good exercise to the hands ( just kidding 😅). I loved the locality and the friendly staff who were ready to help all the time. I am just disappointed that a kayak can be taken on the name of only 2 people, who can ride it. As many people cannot ride for one full hour, it would be beneficial to customers if there is option to add additional people names, so that 2 of them can ride kayak while rest of them are relaxing after riding for sometime!!!
Great staff and excellent renting process!! It was quick and easy! If you come to Austin, you have to include this water adventure.
I was visiting Austin and wanted to kayak after seeing how popular the waterfront was, and Rowing Dock made it really easy to do! They walk you through the whole process and have really great price options. For being a recreational activity near downtown, I expected it to be expensive, but it really is a good deal! From signing papers to getting the equipment, I was in the water within 10 minutes or less. The staff were all extremely friendly and wanted to know where I was from and how my trip to Austin was going. Make sure to stop by Rowing Dock if you’re in Austin!
Good pricing and friendly service along with things being lined up well for a smooth experience. I’d recommend arriving to the dock 5 minutes before your hour runs out so you can get there on time without being charged for another thirty minutes for being a few minutes late. Something I’ll be doing next time!
Was easy process to rent and the paddle boards were good quality. Just go dooo ittt.
Amazing friendly staff, guided properly as I was visiting with kids and wasn’t sure with type of kayak or canoe to takeThe place was well organized and I was a bit reluctant in the beginning to try it out but later we loved every bit of the activity and the rowing we didThe equipment was well maintainedWould highly recommend this place, fun activity with kids or yourself.Make sure to bring sunscreenParking was free
Breast way to kick off the summer but get there early or bring your own
Grace & Ming helped provide my friends and I with an exceptional experience. We made the mistake of choosing paddle boards on a very windy day and they were courteous enough to let us switch to kayaks an hour into our trip. Will be back again soon!!!
They were polite i just didnt like that they charged us extra for going a little over an hr on a slow day. we tried our best to get back in time. wish they were more understanding.
