I only get haircuts like once a year and just moved back to south Austin so googled places and found this one. Made and appointment same day and showed up. Scott was my barber and the only one in at the time as it was late evening. He was running a little behind but only by like 5 minutes so that wasn’t a problem. Haircut was great and he’s a nice guy you can have a great conversation with. Might be back sooner than a year. The place is actually pretty cool too! Was tired of going to the sports clips and chain places.

Have come here 3 times now with my family (4 of us). We come about 3 hours before close. Every time now we have been told by the same stylist (lady with long curly black hair) that they are booked the rest of the night and not to check in. Now Im not sure if this is a race thing, but we feel discriminated against at this point and will not be giving Austin haircut co our business any longer. Maybe the owner needs to step in and resolve these staff issues before they lose all of their customers.

Straight forward haircut. I have had my (womans) haircut with Ashley and Linda. Both cut my hair according to the hairstyle I requested. They dont try to sell products or try to talk your ear off. I didnt feel like mine looked super good in the store, but it looks much better after I wash it at home (this is twice now). Never had that happen at other upscale salons. Exceptional deal for a cut.

I went the day before Thanksgiving, which it was obviously going to be busy. Theyve switched to online appointments, which is amazing, but there was only ONE barber.I was patient and was told shed try to fit me in, and she made time to do so! In fact she fit in two people with all her appointments and obviously would have to stay late to do so!She was so friendly and courteous, even when people were walking in and getting angry that she couldnt fit in more people (that would be impossible). She did a great job! But she was so over worked. She was the only one there to cut hair, answer calls, greet customers, and clean.I love this place, but the last two times there was only one person to cut hair. At least get someone to greet and help clean and answer phones!

They have new stylists and they are not as friendly. We walked in 30 minutes before they closed because their website said that they accept walk-ins. We walked in and there was nobody waiting and the only patron was an elderly man with short hair who the lady (late 20s dark curly haired Caucasian female) seemed to be almost done with. We walked in and asked her if she could take us and she told us no because she had someone coming in 10 minutes, she even went as far as to tell us they had just called to confirm their appointment. She lied straight to our faces. We decided to order thundercloud subs which is right next door. We waited in the car for our order to be ready and the whole time we were waiting, nobody ever showed up for their appointment. They just lost 2 customers. She rushed to close and was out the door by 6:05. Horrible customer service.

Horrible buzz cut that I paid $24 for. I had to cleanup sideburns and back of neck on my own at home. Called to complain, voice my concerns and response by Great Haircuts personnel...oh well! Do not recommend. Overcharge, poor quality and service. Disappointed. I will never go back.

I miss Marti & Margie, both amazing long standing stylists who left this location during the onset of the pandemic. Since then Ive received two of the WORST haircuts Ive had in years from this place! Both cuts were performed by their relatively new hire (older blonde caucasian woman, who recently cut her longer hair short). Even worse than the haircut, she actually used the N word while cutting my hair (Referring to her clippers with vacuum attachment as N-rigged.) This atrocious behavior was met with laughter by the other stylist (older caucasian gentleman w short graying hair). They both then began making fun of a customer from earlier in the day who got a mullet cut. All of this right in front of me as I got my hair ruined. Ive had to grow it out for about 6 weeks now before getting the length back to do my usual style haircut. By the stylists accounts themselves, the owners are rarely there in person. This would probably be the biggest reason standards at this location have slipped so far, so quickly. Very disappointed. Ill find a business that cares to maintain standards in styling and decorum.

I went in this afternoon and had Dorothy do my hair. I was greeted by two women at the shop who were both so sweet. I got my hair cut super quickly but it looks really great and I’m very pleased with the cut for the price. I would definitely recommend this place! Thanks for the great experience y’all!

Non-professional, not helpful, and untimely. Rude and inconsiderate. Take your business elsewhere. False-advertising.And I definitely am not confused about whether I have been a customer or not!Lol!!!But nice try by the owner, to deny and gaslight, that I have been a customer.Notice how the owner didnt actually apologize or inquire as to, how to improve service. That is a red-flag, in of itself for those who know anything about customer service. All the more reason to avoid this place altogether after the owner wrote that.

The experienced staff create a warm and welcoming environment and every haircut Ive received from them so far has been amazing. PS. Leti and Lisa are bomb! Ms. Marti and Ms. Margie are the most experienced hair stylists in South Austin. They cut my daughter and I’s hair with care. They listen when you tell them how you want it cut and do exactly that. This store is clean and I hardly ever have to wait my turn. I appreciate the price being affordable too! I recommend this location, their stylists are the very best! They make you feel welcomed and cared for. You don’t find these kind of sweet hair stylists just anywhere! Only at Great Haircuts Slaughter.

I’ve been going to Great Haircuts and Slaughter for about 10 years. When I started go there was a Albertsons next-door. Marty is the bomb and she’s been cutting my hair most of that time. We always have a very nice chat and share family stories I show her pictures of my grand daughter. She is a very special lady and gives me a great haircut and enjoyable experience.The store is always nice and clean. It would be nice to have a little music even country since that seems to be the theme of the store.

After getting our haircuts at Supercuts and sports clips regularly. Depending on the wait. I was surprised with the price at great haircuts. Literally $15 cheaper for the 2 cuts. Alexis had me and my son in and out in maybe 20-25 min. The cuts were a lot better quality than the usual places that charge a lot more money and take a lot more of your time as well.Almost forgot to mention the service and her attitude was a difference maker as well.

Surprised to see the negative comments. Ive been coming here for about 13 years and always leave happy. I cant believe people are complaining about the haircut not taking long enough. That is what I like the best. Great haircut and doesnt take all day. I usually ask for Selena but have had great service from lots of the stylists.

Bro this place is actually terrible no joke, I never right reviews but I went here just for a trim on the sides and the top alittle bit. All the girl did was leave razor lines on the side of my head and then I asked if she could do that thing where they lighten your hair and she did it on like 2 parts of my hair. The whole haircut was 5 min my dad said. I actually couldn’t see anything I’m using old contacts so it’s pretty hard to see but anyways, this place is no doubt the worst place I’ve ever been too. 18$ for a 5min haircut that left me needing another haircut. Also they only way they sign you in is by a piece of paper on the front so I got skipped like 2 times I wish I just left before I got the haircut it looks like Freddy Kruger went crazy on my hair and then through me out a damn window.

Never go here. The cutters dont know how to cut hair, let alone evenly. I asked for face framing layers not too difficult but my hair was hacked up, uneven and the guy cutting my hair practically took my eye out by aiming his scissors upward toward my eye. I have had the same haircut for years and NEVER has it been so bad. He went about it all wrong. I made the mistake of trusting him. He never checked for an even cut/symmetry. Theres about 2 inches difference from one side to the other. Horrible cutters. I know they are not stylists but they should at least take some pride in their work. Warning: dont let them touch your hair. You will regret it.

So I went here once before without looking at the comments and got a really nice haircut. Just recently when I needed a haircut I thought Id look at the comments before going again. I was surprised to see the reviews and thought Id might as well try it again to see if the nice result was duplicable. Im actually a pretty picky and particular person with a few things including hair and I still got a really nice even haircut the second time.

Met Lena here around 24 years ago, tried a couple of places shortly after 1st trip, ended up going right back. Over the 20+ Years only got my haircut somewhere else less than 10 times. Only reason to go to another place is because Lena felt the need to go else where.

Just moved in nearby and decided to give this place a shot. I already dread haircuts and this one didnt help. The lady was very nice but did a very quick job. It looked okay while wet and styled very specifically by her, but just got worse later. Not my worst haircut (Ive had some really bad ones!), but still pretty bad. Getting my hair cut somewhere else as soon as possible to fix it.

Went on a sunday with an appointment at opening time. Lady in front was super disorganized and it made everything take longer. Waited 45min after my appointment with no haircut I just left.

Ive gone here a few times before. I was generally satistfied with my haircuts, but something has happened and things are going downhill. I went to get a haircut for my son. When I arrived, they were backed up with only one lady working. They finally got to us after another lady arrived. My son does great at haircuts. He sits still the entire time and listens to the instructions. The first haircut she gave my son just took a little off the sides and wasnt what I asked for at all. Then she gave him a haircut that was crooked in the front and back and had big long patches of hair on the sides from a really bad attempt to fade. At some point she just stopped like Im done even though the haircut looked half finished. I pointed out the problems and asked her to fix the fade. She got really frustrated and was like Well, Ill just cut it all short then and started aggressively buzzing his hair with the clippers. I tried to talk to her and said Hey, dont get frustrated....slow down a little... and then just told her to quit. In the end my sons hair just looked like a single length crooked buzzcut. One lady told me that a bunch of girls had quit recently. Im not sure what kind of stress they are under, but Im not going to go back. A barbershop shouldnt get a second chance when someone looses their temper while cutting your childs hair.Edit: In response to the Hannahs response...Actually, Ive been there four times for a haircut. I never wrote a review because it wasnt worth writing a review. I was generally satisfied, but its the kind of haircut you get at a cheap barber shop that only takes walk-ins and you cant make a reservation. My hairstyle is simple. So giving me an average haircut isnt anything to crow about.I knew what I was in for, so I didnt leave bad or mediocre reviews because the haircuts were just...ok. My three star review would have still brought down your average.And just to be clear, my problem was with my sons haircut. It wasnt what I asked for, and when I pointed out some of the hair that she missed she got frustrated and just gave him a buzz cut. It was either retaliatory for me pointing out the places she missed, or she lost her patience, or she lost her temper. None of those options are acceptable, especially when it comes to kids. You dont just stop trying because there are a lot of customers waiting and you are getting frustrated with a simple haircut. Thats unprofessional.My visit was early Sat morning. You can try to turn the ship around but Im not coming back. Good luck.

I was going to get my hair cut after my son but after that, all I could think of was how bad I wanted to get out of there and never come back. Not sure what I did wrong to deserve such rude service. Apparently, the staff will hoard your debt card here after you pay. Beware! Poor Customer ServiceMy mom went to get haircut a few days ago, she stated the stylist took only 10 mins and had to ask the her to cut it shorter. Again and again. My mom said she tipped 20% for crappy service. Lack of attention to detail. She paid via debt card ( they do not accept discover) signed and left. A fews later my mom was wondering where her card had went. I had asked her if she gave it back and she said she signed casually for a normal transaction and left. She stated she doesnt even recall getting her debt card backshe thought she had lost her card so I called the business, they stated it was there, we drove to retrieve the card..Suprising part is when the lady at the front openes the drawer, there was a handful of other peoples debt cards. This seems very questionable. The stylist who cut her hair needed to ID my mother by driver liscense??!) she even re-called cutting her hair a few days back! The lady + staff chuckled and stated NO apology we took the card and left.advice for future customers: make sure you get your card back!suggestion to the business: please be more attentive to your customers needs, a 10 minute haircut is not acceptable at least for a lady & make sure you give your customers thier debit card back after paying. Instead of causing much headache, hassle, time and gas to come back herewould I recommend: No!

WORST PLACE EVER. i had surgery and i couldnt do my hair. my family told me this place was ok. so i stopped and never in my life have a had someone so rude cut my hair. i asked him to please blow dry my hair since i could not, tis why i had gone to get my hair done for me. some old Long Haired Hippie Refused to blow dry my hair cuz it was un healthy and that he would let it dry naturally. so i told him fine, do that he told me that would take a few hours i told him DUH THATS Y I WOULD LIKE YOU TO DRY IT pointing to his blow dryer. i asked him how much it would be to blow dry it and he said very sharp 7 DOLLARS so just paid and made sure he knew i was not leaving him a tip for the poor job performed
