Mr. Gilbert said it put a clutch kit in my car and charged me $750.00 dols. I paid and picked up my car on 07/31/2019, was driving from Temple from 10/19/2019 and the car started doing the same thing again. I called him and he said bring the car by when I get back to Austin. He and I drove the car around the corner and he said its the Transmission. And I was like maybe it was the Transmission and not the clutch from the beginning, And of course he denied it. He said he could find me one for about $350.00 and would call me in a few days. A week went by so I called him several times and he just gave the run round. I took it to a Transmission place on 11/25/2019, they said it was the transmission. He said that you have to take the transmission out to get to the clutch and they should have seen the burnt grease leaking from the transmission. He couldnt tell if a clutch kit had been put in and suggested I take it back. Called Mr. Gilbert again and got the around again. So he charged me $750.00 for a clutch kit that didnt even last 3months. Hes a crook and you can pay for rating my people.

They will mess up your car worse than what it already is. They are scam artist. They suppose to fix one thing and say they have fixed it and they really dont. My mom had some work done on her car and when she left from there she had a car accident after they supposedly fixed her steering wheel. DONT TRUST THEM TO DO ANYTHING. Then they will expect you to pay them. Yes they are being suited.

Nice guy! However little disappointed I had to take my car to another auto shop. My front brakes were still squeaking due poor service. Along with I complained twice about my car vibrating. First I was instructed it’s my tires . Finally found by another shop it’s alignment along with tie rods. I understand we all human . When some complains and addresses issue twice. Then listen and try resolve it. There’s a saying you get what you pay for. Trust your gut always! Always get more than one opinion

Honest and more than fair on prices. Hard working guys who do it right. I was told about Gilbert at work from several others, and gratefully so! It is hard to find a trusty mechanic who doesnt cost an arm and leg on labor payment, and more importantly genuine and reliable . He comes highly recommended always!

Worst repair shop in town, toke my car to change oil and replace the engine mount to fix the sounds but when I received it was still making sounds, also they didnt put enough oil. When asked about sounds they made an excuse that its $100 each mount and we replaced two instead of four mount. End of day paid another auto repair shop to fix it, and dont mentioned about their delay and not on schedule, they told me your car will be ready by 3:00 PM but was seating in their office till 6:20 PM. also they will charge you triple than others. If you want to try the worst mechanic in town go for them. They are not going to do what they promised you.

Seemed honest for years until I had another AC issue with my car in which he had already replace the Compressor. Had a more reputable mechanic look at it. AC Compressor was used and failed 1 1/2 years after the alleged new compressor was put in.You get what you pay for. I recommend Dave’s Ultimate Automotive on Howard Lane. Spend a little bit more money for quality service and not shady business practices.

Gilbert kept my 1994 Ford Explorer running the last two years I had it even though it was practically falling apart from wear and tear and factory defects. His prices were very reasonable and we were very satisfied with his work.My husband now has him work on his car as well with no problems. DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS PLACE FOR REPAIR!! My experience at Gilberts Auto Repair was absolutely HORRIBLE. I took my car to be repaired for an alternator a month ago and not 3 days later Gilbert calls me and says my computer went out. Here I am still have yet to get it back, and here we are on Aug 1st, 2012. I called him numerous times each week, and all he did was give mee the run-around. He told me that my car was getting fixed at a dealership however I called all the local Chrysler dealerships and none of the shops have record of it even being brought in for repair. I went up that there today and asked could I put $300 down but then he got mad because I asked him why my car needed a new computer and then charged me extra & said Im not getting my car back. In my opinion a REAL mechanic would answer that question but Gilbert is a SHADY MECHANIC folks!! Dont ever ask him a question because all hell do is get mad at you, walk off, become very rude, not speak to you and then overcharge you. Plus he doesnt have ANY proof that the car is in the dealership nor was my car at his shop when I went there, so where is my car? I dont know...only Gilbert knows...I DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND Gilberts Auto Repair to anyone, not even if youre desperate.. NEVER EVER GO THERE!!!I wish I could rate this shop a -100......I have reported him with the BBB and plan on taking it to Fox 7 News and my lawyer.

So far i been going with him for a while and he has done a great job fixing my car he always make sure to show or explain you in detail whats cuasing the problem he usually gets the work done fast.. he also provides you with warranty so if he fix something and something happends to the same piece he will replace it again for free..

Screwed me for more than $800 and he doesnt know what hes doing. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL. I ended up selling my 2009 Honda Accord for $1500. Had to cuz I work alot

Approached him for rack and pinion change and Egr valve replacement. Steering alignment and load balancing wasnt done which has to be done after changing rack& pinion.And not even done steering fuild wasnt flushed and replaced, belts werent changed and cleaned the part which was previously messed up by old rack and pinion part. He said he will be doing those all but actually done only 10percent of the work what he said to do.What ever steering fluid lost during rack and pinion replacement was filled out by me only. Even for today oil is leaking.Instead of replacing egr value he just deletes code using bosh code reader and handels to us. Later came to notice his fraudulent.Without noticing it I have given him ($$$$) dollars and easly trusted him as to my previous f******* fellows suggested him for his nut and bolt work ($).It almost takes 4hrs of my total work to do but actually took almost 1 week(complete 6days) to do this work and handel it to me.His prices are high too.Example he places like for steering alignment will cost ($$$) which wasnt done and made a charge. Which you will get same thing at Firestone like places ($$). I have to get to nearby firestone and got this work to be done.He make to round figure at starting when we give to him and when we ask for a bill at last he has done some miscalculations and round it to total make a places charges for his undone work also. please better be careful for what he was charging on you.As per my experience with him I strongly recommend him only for $10-$50 work only. Not for when you plan to make some huge amount invest on your car.I strongly recommend you to choose on trusted car dealership only it will be some extra like 15-20percent more and you may get warranty for what you have paid on.

I have given Gilberts Automotive a couple of chances to earn our business as a fleet account purely due to location, what a mistake. Gilbert himself is there everyday, his prices fluctuate depending on when you ask him, and once hes got your vehicle the price will surely rise. He uses cheap/questionable parts that he gets from some small re-manufacturer, they have to be shipped, and they cost as much as new parts that actually have warranty. I recently got a quote on an AC job for one of our trucks and it was absolutely outrageous, I could replace the entire system for less than he is quoting me, he claims that he already got the parts and got very aggressive on the phone when I asked for an itemized quote!! He yelled at me to bring my truck to him by Tuesday, then hung up on me!! I am never doing business with Gilberts and STRONGLY advise against it. The appearance of the shop speaks volumes about the way its managed, I would be absolutely shocked if this place is licensed, insured, bonded, certified, etc...RUN from Gilberts!
