Excellent service. Farmers transitioned my policies from an outgoing agent to Derrick Colby. Derrick reviewed my policies with me and recommended changes that would suit my needs better. We made changes to homeowners and vehicle policies. It turned out to be lower cost, which was unexpected. Im very happy with Derricks service, professionalism, and knowledge of Farmers products.

I was 30 years with my previous Farmers person when he retired. Randomly assigned to someone new proved to be problematic. Then I was randomly moved again to Derrick. He has been professional, knowledgable, responsive and willing to spend the necessary to time to be sure I am appropriately covered and understand that coverage. I havent needed to make a claim, yet, but as of now, I highly recommend him.

It would be funny if it werent so sad to read the glowing reviews of Derrick, which all look like they were generated by friends and family and professional reviewers. Our experience with derrick and with farmers over the past year + has been awful. I kept detailed notes with dates and copies of all the correspondence. In short, Derrick is a flake and a liar and doesnt know how to simply acknowledge a mistake and apologize. Instead he deflects, lies and then does sloppy incomplete work.Derrick came across initially all keen and full of thoughts and ideas on how to improve your coverage and save you money. My first conversation with him was 40 mins of just that sort of thing. It ended with a promise that he would review our coverage and get back to me in a few days. Id called him with two specific instructions but I thought, great. Days past and then two weeks past. I called and emailed and texted. Finally, 2 + weeks after our talk wherein he promised to get back to me in a couple days, he texts me and says hes taking time off for the holidays. Fine, but what about the 2 simple coverage changes I originally called to get done. No mention of that. So I texted him back and he replied with a text saying those changes would be done. The date of the changes came and went and the bill arrives and surprise, the changes were never made. He totally dropped the ball. I called him. Never got a response. A week later the changes were made but he didnt bother to go back and retroactively input the changes. I guess he felt we should be happy to pay for his failed promises and sloppy work. Called his office and his assistants both told me he would call me back that day...never heard from him. Called again days later, same thing. My frustration led to me asking his receptionist if he really was such a moron that he thought how he was dealing with me was OK? That got his attention. He still never had the guts to call me but late, afterhours he sends a long email with lies about how I was rude to his staff -- absolutely was never rude to his staff and I took care to acknowledge that fact with them and they even said they understood my frustration. So IF derrick has a recording of the calls as he said in his email, I urge him to listen and give them to me. He wont because he is a liar.I called his district supervisor and he never bothered to follow up. I guess there are too many complaints about Colby to get to all of them.Finally, called the head office and dealt with complaints department and they fixed what useless liar Colby couldnt. We also changed to a new agent.I have all the dates, texts and emails from this experience. D. Colby lacks honesty and professionalism -- two important characteristics for me when it comes to a insurance agent.During all this, we also investigated and comparison shopped. Farmers is easily beat when it comes to price for the exact same level of coverage by 3 different major insurance companies.If you want good and honest service from your insurance agent, you can do much better than this guy.If you want the best price for your insurance, you can probably do better than Farmers if you shop around.

I àm very happy with Derrick. We left Farmers many years ago but called Derrick after bad experience with Progressive Home Insurance. We got an Umbrella policy for home and auto for better coverage and great price! We couldnt be happier!

Were so thankful we met Derrick! We were up for renewal on our contractors General Liability Insurance and met with him to give us a second look on the quote we received from our existing broker.
