My experience is strictly as an outsider. I am not a veteran, but I rent my property to a veteran supported by this organization. I don’t know what the issue is, but the rent has been late every month for four months, and I still have not received the rent for June. I had two very disappointing experiences with this organization. They sent me an email offering to schedule a pickup. I scheduled, put items outside as instructed. They never showed up. It rained on all my donation items, two x boxes, one play station, all in working condition. I was out for day, hoping to return to a clean driveway. Then to add insult to injury, no one ever returned my call or responded to my email. You call them only to get no answer and a voicemail. I’m really disappointed with this organization. Communication is key. This items could have been given to a family in need. I’m sure they’ll get plenty more donation offers, however they will not be from me. Or anyone that ask for a recommendation from me.

I told the lady I didnt have a social worker she said how you plan on paying your rent i told her I have money and she said well if you need to move so bad why you want go get a Airbnb. They have an office in the slum part of Atlanta on Troy Ave. The staff isnt there to help you as much as collect your personal information and then send you on your way. I waited for almost a month based on a promise that never materialize. Meanwhile, they get federal money to help homeless veterans but keep the money for themselves. They are scamming the government and using homeless blacks to do it.

If I could give this organization no star I would. This scam of a group is a disgrace to actual programs that really want to help people. If you dont know anyone within the organization dont count on getting assistance. And if they do assist you they put you in housing that doesnt accommodate your family and have repair, roach infestation, and terrible management issues. When you do reach out for help from them they hold meetings running their mouths about how they are going to assist you but they never do. They take the money people donate to pay for their expensive cars, vacations, and clothes. Reporting it to their supervisor is a waste of time because all she will do is throw her credentials in your face like she has some sort of pull but she only helps those she knows. Take it from me look for help else where you will only end up worse then you were before you entered the program. After having issues with the housing placement and was on the verge of being homeless again I was told to go back to a homeless shelter and then reapply for the program then they can help me. A program that is suppose to help prevent homeless told me to become homeless again just so they could help. Wow. I guess that is what hope looks like.

The reason why I made an attempt to get assistance from this organization, was because of the founder John Hope Bryant. He was being interviewed on a reputable show. He explained his organization in details, of how they help people. I hate it when people stand on national TV, and they lie, about how its important to help others, but THEY DONT DO ANYTHING TO HELP YOU. LMAO! Its such a shame how black businesses, can continue to be so unorganized and unprofessional. I was requesting help to start a business, due to me being disabled. I spoke with Jewel Thompson like 2 years ago, twice, via phone. Two years ago, she was supposed to return my phone call and she never did. I spent all that time filling out their application, which is about the size of a book, but yet they never cared to even get in contact with me about anything. This is proof how unorganized this organization is. I did a follow up with them and they did the same thing lying to me saying that they were going to call me back and never did. So therefore, I can understand the reviews on here are true, about how unprofessional this company is. Im so embarrassed, how our black communities, continue to fail their own people. This is why the rich get richer while the poor stay poor. The people who have money, they truly dont care about helping others achieve greatness. Ive seen White folks go out of their way to help Blacks get to a higher level. This organization should be ashamed saying that they help people, when its clear that they dont.

No one says hope Atlanta only helps with the mentally and physically disabled. I was referred to this agency and was told I have to basically have something wrong with me that homelessness doesn’t qualify. But reading these reviews nothing says that and I see veterans complaining that they weren’t helped. I agree with someone of these post it’s a scam or the truth is not being told. I have seen post where mothers with children have been helped due to homelessness and I also know of someone who received help and nothing was physically wrong and they are not a vet. They stated it took over a week but they received the help needed. Ok hope Atlanta what do you all do screen at the window based on appearance or is true you choose to use the funds for whomever you want? Something isn’t right. Especially when your info doesn’t state you only help vets or the disabled.

Im highly disappointed in this organization. I continuously reached out to them for MONTHS to learn more about the services they provide to better help those I see in need and I was ignored over and over again, then I received a rude email back. I have given up and will not recommend this place to others. I dont understand how an organization, who exists to help, does not have a servants heart. Especially when they are receiving federal grant money to help others. I have heard first-hand accounts of how they mistreated potential clients and failed to help. It breaks my heart and hope they open their eyes and ears to those who truly need their help.

After forking over all of my identification in 2015; DD214, two forms of ID, proof of income and a signed letterhead from a VA social worker, I discovered a week later my application was rejected for not receiving the before mentioned identification. So this is one of them situations where these people have way more stars then they should. For starters I just moved to Atlanta March the 6th. After talking to a couple of locals I found out about this place. Upon calling I found out they had a program for people who just moved to Atlanta. I call and set up an appointment, but it was a month before I could even get in. I called around the middle of march and was scheduled for April 20th, that part was no big deal as I figured they had already helped everyone they were going to help for that month. Well I was told to bring all required documents and if not it would be a while before getting the appointment again. Now the man on the phone made it sound like come the 20th have all my documents and I would get help, NO. Come the 20th I get there just to find out the man that is over the program Mr.Harris isnt even in, why schedule me on the day he isnt in.. but anyways whatever, I fill out all the documents which is a pretty good size stack of papers. So the next day Im wondaring why I never received a call. So I call and the guy gives me Mr.Harris supposedly cell phone number, which I call 3 times and no answer. Finally I call back and Im mad and finally the woman gets him on the phone.. yall this man tells me its going to be 20-25 days before they even send the check to the home owner or wherever you are trying to get into.... why not say that when people first call. So at this point Im livid because not only did he fail to tell me this earlier so I could let the landlord know, but he tells me there is two places I forgot to sign.. now at this point I could cry, why not call me and let me know instead of not saying anything. I have a child and right now its hard trying to keep everything together without a stable place to stay. Well I call and let the landlord know it would take a couple weeks to receive the money and of course he wasnt trying to wait and he already had someone who wanted the house just in case I didnt get it. Well by the grace of God Im walking and I see this team of men working on a house so I stop and ask to speak to the head guy and luckily he was the owner and he actually ends up bringing me back up there to sign the papers and even sends an email with all the required info. Now today is May 5th, I have tried to get in contact with this man since the beginning of this week with not one phone call returned to find out the status of my app. My landlord has even sent this man a follow up email which he hasnt gotten a response to, then when you continue to call everyone acts like theyre mad as if this money is coming directly out of their pockets. Now granted I should of been a bit more prepared but I do start school back soon so wanted to come down to allow myself enough time to get things together before school started back, so I wouldnt have to struggle in school. To be honest this place will make you feel like youre asking for too much, and anyone that is already in a messed up predicament shouldnt have to feel that way. But it is what it is, hopefully soon it gets worked out.

I just signed up yesterday.. And already regretting my decision. Mr. Kenny Anderson appeared to be very nice and helpful in fact to make false accusations on who I am from our first meeting. I have a past present and future as most coming into this particular program. No one deserves to come here to gain NO respect or courtesy. I received a call today from another worker (she) was very rude ratchet and forceful towards me going to a shelter. Wow.. really? look the point of me coming is true indeed to receive assistance but how am i getting around to accomplish anything when HOPE Atlanta does NOT issue marta cards or any transportation aid. However, they want paperwork turned in and document requirements met! At their timely fashion not when you can get it or else you cant receieve help. Bottomline I was prejudge and mistreated for no apparent reason from day one. And furthered into another day... I ignored it the first day as minor misunderstandings or what have you but today was taken way to far about nothing. Mr. Kenny Anderson you should not treat people in the manner that you have with no known reasoing behind your underline motive. Ppl just because your in need does NOT mean you have to allow someone to belittle you down grade or misjudge you off their personal issues.. I went in wanting help and came out to be treated like a criminal of some unknown crime. I DO NOT recommend any human being to go to this program. Your not treated fair or common for any reason.
