I called them because I saw there was a charge on my card and ask them to refund the charge and I spoke to a lady in the office who was completely rude and hung up on me after I explain to her that I didn’t even know the charge had gone through the first time because when I went to complete the offer it told me that it did not go through my card would not allow it. She was very rude and asking me why I had and I checked my bank statement and I said I did that’s why am calling you because I’ve noticed these charges. so I explain to her why in the email did they not say anything about The refund only that my membership has been canceled but not that it had been escalated to the vice president. She said well I can send you an email to that effect. However I find it really unprofessional that they would not explain this to me at all and then I’m wasting my time calling in to get hung up on. this going to the vice president and being looked at because essentially they’re saying they’re gonna take my money because I didn’t call to cancel my membership before I was charged even though I didn’t know I was charge because originally when I had processed my payment it said the card would not allow it to go through. I explain to her why would I then called to cancel my membership when I didn’t even think that it had started? This place is Really unprofessional & rude.

I stayed here just over a month in the summer of 2015. i’m Canadian and was staying with my mom for a while before she abandoned me at 18 and stole my phone, wallet, passport, everything. i just needed a safe place to stay until i could get a temporary passport to come back home to Canada.anyway, i became very good friends with the staff (aside from one lady). i got to volunteer in the kitchen and help the cook out. made some friends with the other youth who had it 10x worse than me. some pregnant, some escaping abusive households. very sad but happy the covenant house helped the youth and me. they gave us food, clothes, a safe place to stay. also give us pads and cardboard tampons which was a huge plus. also laundry and computer access which was nice.my case worker...? or whatever, nicole i think her name was, was very lazy and unhelpful. i just needed to meet with the Canadian consulate in Atlanta to get my temporary passport to fly home. i was only supposed to stay 2 weeks but ended up being over a month. i wanted to go home! it worked out in the end even if it did take longer than expected but i’m grateful for this shelter and the short term friendships i made.

Unprofessional staff that are very eager to put at risk youth back out on the streets for any minor infraction...... like standing in the wrong place on the campus grounds. They need an oversight committee to look into their practices. They will literally wake a resident up at 5:00am to kick them out without warning. They’re not offering any genuine help or counseling. Just another sham charity making a profit off of the most vulnerable people among us.

This Covenant House really went above and beyond my expecations.Ive lived at the Covenant House in Houston, TX -- the food regularly got you sick and staff was super mean/unprofessional. Unnecessary rules were put in place for staffs ego and power trips. Here? Staff is smiling a majority of the time, despite their difficult jobs. I am treated like a human being whenever I visit, and the first thing Im asked is if Im hungry, need a shower, need to use the laundry, etc. Theyre constantly having fun events and really seem to hold everyones privacy at the utmost importance. I love coming for events, and now that Im in a really good place finally (thanks to the Covenant House, really) Ill be volunteering here.

This shelter is quick to throw youth out in a heart beat. I’ve been here for 2 weeks and one night I worked later than usual. I work a 5.5 hour walk from the shelter and they told me if I didn’t walk back(because the trains and buses were over for the night) and get back I would be considered awol and they would kick me out. I arrived 2 minutes later than that time and they threw all my stuff in a bag and kicked me out. Since i am brand new to Atlanta I have no where to go. I’ve seen at least 20 youth kicked out for similiar reasons or for simple mistakes.

Im a 19 year old resident of Atlanta who recently became homeless. The Covenant House wasnt the first shelter I tried, but it was by far the best. This shelter is specifically for young people (18-22). It was a relief because most shelters are full of older, chronically homeless & mentality Ill people. They do a great job at making the youth here feel comfortable and safe. The staff, with a few exceptions are generally caring and egar to help. The director here is former Atlanta Falcon, Mr. Justin Thorton.. He introduced himself to me and took the time to personally sit down and talk to me. He was very professional while remaining down to earth at the same time. Ill also point out, I am a young white male in an almost all black shelter. I was never picked on, called out, or felt out of place the whole time I stayed here. Credit to the director for keeping a peaceful environment even in crisis situations .Ive read some of the more critical reviews, and it seems most of the youth who wrote them are upset because they got transitioned out because they couldnt follow the rules. They arent very strict considering the business they are, but that means youve always got that handful of people trying to take advantage of the system. If you can follow a few simple rules, this is a totally solid stepping stone to take advantage of. I stayed here for a few weeks, got a job, and started saving money for an apartment once I move out. They will even help you save your money if you wish.Unfortunately, I was asked to leave because I couldnt keep my substance abuse under control.. Even though I was transitioned out though, they gave me a list of other places and programs where I could get help. They even told me I could go to Grady hospital to detox free of charge and then return to the shelter. There is a waiting list to be admitted, but to me, it was worth the wait rather than going somewhere else.

If you have autism and/or any other mental disorder, dont go here unless you have absolutely no other options. They are ableist. They kicked me out for objecting to a staff member trying to call the police on me against my will for suicidal ideation. She then proceeded to tell everyone that I threatened to kill her, and nobody questioned it. They kicked me to the curb of the former worst homeless shelter in Atlanta, Task Force, without a care in the world. Also avoid this place if youre a member of the LGBT+ community. One of the residents talked to me in a threatening manner for being a lesbian. Meanwhile, staff did nothing. It took him actually ASSAULTING a gay/bi man for them to kick him out. Its clear that they only care about the staff and couldnt care less about the residents. I now live with my grandma and are getting help for my mental health, no thanks to them. I shouldve known better than to trust a religious organization. All religion wants is money and tax breaks. Bottom line: only go here unless your only two options are here and the street.

I was kicked out of my parents house at 20 and this was the only shelter that had openings. Mind you i just checked out the hospital also so i called around all day and they were the only ones who answered and said they would take me. So i spent my last 2.50 taking Marta out to where they are at and when i got there the gate was closes and i called and they said they not taking me no more. It would of been nice to know i wouldnt be accepted in before i spent my last 2.50 taking the bus and traon out there. Mind you it was cold and windy also and i was extremely hungry. They dont care. Luckily someone from BHL from the state also worked with the auburn st churches and got me a cheap motel room and a 25$ McDonalds gift card so i can eat for a few days until i can pay it myself. I wouldnt go back but hey i met someone in the shelter and made a good friend with him so thats probably the only plus side to this.
