Contractors Beware of Modis!Once I accepted the job, the recruiter I worked with was more concerned about getting me on-site than trying to complete the paperwork and contract to get paid.I have been contracting for a while, and I know to get everything in writing and signed before setting foot on the clients site. There are some recruiting agencies I will no longer work for because they have become dishonest with fellow contractors.I am adding Modis Engineering to this list. Despite the fact I had two weeks to complete the paperwork before my start date, I had to threaten not to take the job if I did not get my Per-Diem agreement paperwork. This kind of behavior from recruiters was suspicious, and I thought to myself:“I hope a problem suddenly does not arise while I am on this assignment.”Well, after two weeks, the recruiter called me and told me that the client no longer wanted me on the project with no explanation.Looking back, I do not think Modis never intended me to stay on the job for long.Advice to ManagementThis is the second time I have worked for Modis, formally Adecco Engineering and Technical, and both times I have been disappointed with their client. Your commissions should not be the driving factors to get people on site. Your contractors partner with you to make themselves and your organization money. If you are more concerned with the client, who has despicable morals, eventually, you will not have any contractors who want to work with you.In this day and age of medial social word gets around fast.
I was embarrassed and confused as to why I was terminated/ contract suspended when all I did was what I was told to do. We had to work 40hrs and had the option to make up those 40 hours within that same week. I was always one of the few to arrive early and if I wanted to work overtime I always asked. I worked my respectful hours. Being a trainee I always had to wait on my lead to finish up with meetings. At times he had multiple meetings throughout the day so I would sit at my desk either doing training programs or simply just waiting for my lead to finish his meetings before we went to work on our week assignments. For months I was always told I was doing a great job and to keep up the work so I could grow with the company eventually. That was a lie. There was never an issue or warning given at any point if there was a mistake I was making that I could of corrected. But what does modis do? FIRED me during a pandemic. When I asked the reason they gave me a runaround about my timesheet but it turns out they fired 3 other employees for the “same reason”. Weird how it was all the minorities too. Don’t even waste your time working in an uncomfortable work environment with false promises.
I had an excellent experience working with Felicia Eison and Michael Booth. They made getting a great job easy guiding me through every step of the process. I am super pumped to finally have a job that I think I will love!
