Its refreshing to have an experience like the one i had. Efficient. Quick. Job done.The young lady that helped me over the phone was extremely patient and helpful. I was suggested this shop through a co worker and im glad they did. No BS, no waiting around none of that.Car towed Monday, they called me Tuesday morning and told me what the problem was and they had it done the same day Tuesday. Highly recommend.

All I need to say is that Dougal’s Automotive is THE most trustworthy, most reliable auto repair shop in Asheville PERIOD. They always go above and beyond for me and take excellent care of my car! Bring your car here! Very reasonable prices! They give the option of buying aftermarket or factory made!And there are cute dogs across the street so if you’re stuck waiting for your car, you have cute animals to look at while you wait!

Dougal is knowledgeable mechanic with a wonderful small local shop vibe. He has been really great about showing me whats wrong with my car and empowering me make decisions that work for me.

Most honest mechanics in Asheville in my opinion, they will not do work you dont explicitly need and they wont let you pay to fix a car that just isnt worth the repairs, what kind of mechanic tells you not to make repairs? An honest one, dougals, extremely fair prices too.

I have been going to Dougals for the past couple of years. Everyone that works here is kind, understanding, and patient. Dougal always explains thoroughly what hes discovered or worked on, how things work, etc. He does extra things that make me feel he values me as a customer. Most importantly, I know hes being honest with me, which is important for someone who understands nothing about cars. I never feel shamed or stupid after talking to Dougal or the people who work the desk. They are all respectful and kind. I feel completely comfortable here, and I wont take my car anywhere else.

Dougal knows his stuff, especially about Imports. If you have a Volkswagen I highly recommend him. My 2004 golf has been in the shop several times and hes always available, always reliable, always follows through. Just a good down-to-earth mechanic.

Real straight shooters in the auto repair trade is rare, but these guys are thoughtful, honest and fair. My old car got some good attention from Dougal, but finally got replaced. I hope my new car doesnt need their services for a while, but when it does, I will take it here.

Very honest with fair prices and everyone is always very friendly. Im never afraid to get their opinion on how to handle things that come up with my [old] car. Ive had problems with other mechanics brushing off my worries because Im a girl Only then later to find my assumptions were right. or trying to overcharge me for work thats not necessary. Dougal is always very thorough and looks things over when Im concerned. But he wont treat anything if its not needed ( he wont take advantage of my worry or lack of knowledge.)100% recommend.

Everyone on staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and hard working. They provide water and free Wi-Fi in the lobby. I highly recommend if youre in need of a mechanic. Just be sure to schedule an appointment in advance. Theyre successful, and with that comes a multitude of customers. So please call ahead and schedule an appointment. Itll save you and them time and money.

As a woman, who knows very little about cars, I often feel as though mechanics are taking advantage of my ignorance. I have never once felt that Dougal or his staff were anything less than 100% honest with me about my car. And also hes always trying to help me get out of there the cheapest way possible. I absolutely love them.

Without a doubt the worst experience Ive ever had with a mechanic. My friend brings in her car for misfires, after hearing nothing for almost a week were told that its going to be anew coil. Then a few days later call back and Im told that now that they put everything back together the right side fuel injectors werent firing and that it would need a new ECM that would cost $1000. Knowing a good amount about cars I got a bad feeling and kindly told them wed take it back. We took it to another extremely popular and knowledgeable mechanic and within 1hr they diagnosed the original issue as a clogged catalytic converter. We got the car back almost a month ago and its running great. So I understand mistakes can happen. I called in very kindly explaining the situation to give them the opportunity to make things right. Only wanted the labor cost back. Wasnt even going to argue about the coil we didnt need... and the owner refused to speak with me! I was only able to speak to the lady who answered the phone. They immediately were very defensive instead of trying to make things right which is a big red flag. People who arent hiding anything dont get defensive and refuse to speak with you. We were told that he was right and the other shop was wrong and that he couldnt explain why the car was running fine now but it would go bad. (Car is still running fine months later) I still never got upset and was nothing but civil. I asked if he could call me back and was told no. I then questioned the professionalism of that and was told shell ask him to call but he prob wont call back. That was over a week ago and I never heard back. I have documentation for everything and just hope that he doesnt con another low income nurse who works 16hr shifts just make due.Edit: to reply to their response. First for someone who never even spoke to me youre making a lot of assumptions. I am simply a friend of the owner who knows more about cars than she does. I called from why work which is the only reason I can think you would think I was acting for a company. However a quick Google search would have shown you that company has nothing to do with getting money back for people and that was never ever said. Nor was money asked for. We simply wanted to speak to the business owner which we werent even allowed to do. You called the vehicles owner after I called and she even told you I was just a friend who knew more about cars than she did. On a closing point you say that had she just called you would have refunded her money... She tried! and you didnt, thats the whole reason I called. I wanted to give you the chance to make things right. You did the exact opposite. Again you say you would have refunded her money, which shows to me that you know that youre wrong and now youre just angry because you earned bad reviews and now youre showing your lack of professionalism again. People I promise you there are such better mechanics in town to deal with. Ive never had a bad experience with any in town except this place.
